A must visit to see the artistic gallery.Nestled in the Humber River valley, this gallery with huge windows will give you nature's healing touch. And the Painting by the group of seven is worth a view. All paintings/sketches are excellent but particularly a few needs you to view and appreciate them for their exclusive artistic beauty. Entry fee: $18 - GET IT ONLINE to avoid disappointment on unavailability. Parking: Available.Flat rate of $7 A cafe is available in the gallery for lunch

Great spot to view Canadian art. The building is a work of art itself. There is definitely room for more great art. Be sure to sit and view the greatest artist by sitting by the windows that look out over the landscape and nature. The seats are put there on purpose and they are located in quiet secluded places. Well worth the drive.

Was impressed by how much art was truly in this museums nature. Beyond the impressive gallery of famous Canadian artists there are stunning grounds to also visit. Seeing group of 7 works which echo the surrounding region was truly a treat. Very much recommend this museum.

It is a great art gallery. The amazing collections and exhibits are not only Group of Seven, but also other contemporary artist works. It worth hours here and also outdoor trails are lovely. The overall vibe and environments harmonize with the gallery and works. Ticket is $18, parking $7.

Nice Art Gallery north of Toronto. I enjoy coming here in the summer especially because you can take a nature walk on their grounds/trails. The Mainstreet area of Kleinburg has food options for lunch and a confectionary shop for sweet treats after. The gallery itself has a cafeteria as well. There are lockers to store your belongings and a place to hang your jacket but not a coatcheck. This is where you will find a lot of Tom Thompson art pieces and Group of Seven Art pieces. There are sections of Indigenous art as well. Headsup, you need to enjoy art galleries to make it worthwhile for a long drive up. If you live nearby its a great place to visit quickly. I believe 2 hours is adequate for seeing the art work. They have portable chairs you can carry with you if you want to sit close to the pieces and take in the art work for a longer period of time - they are found by information desk. If you are planning on visiting a few times per year then a membership is a good idea as it covers parking fee and would pay for itself. Buy it before coming though otherwise you will have to pay for parking the day of. Kids under 5 are free.

Due to the rain and our late arrival at the museum, the steam punk event wasn't as awesome as we'd hoped, but another attendee whom we meet in the parking lot leaving raved about the music he'd heard, so mostly our fault for timing, I suspect. There were quite a few cool steam punkers (if that's a word), like the man on stilts and penny farthing biker. I will definitely try to make it back if they run this event next year; my four year old daughter didn't know what to think-which is exactly the perfect reaction to the event. The museum staff was amazing. Friendly and thoughtful, very welcoming and easy to talk to. The house has lots of interesting memorabilia and is quite accessible. It was clear that the museum is working hard to be relevant and I am going to check out their Facebook page for other events!

Beautiful place to visit with many things to do, including walk the beautiful trails connecting to the museum grounds. If you love art and artistic works, this is the place to go! The museum itself is worth seeing, with wonderful classic collections of paintings, sketches, and sculptures from the Group of 7 artists, as well as some contemporary Canadian artists that made their debut in recent years.

What a gem! Both inside and out. We first took a walk through the beautiful gardens and admired the art. Then spend time inside wandering the exhibits. It's off different artists on display. Staff ) volunteers are very friendly and helpful. We had a great time and will come again.

Everything else in previous reviews holds true and to try to add to those would be redundant. It has been MANY years since I have been here (sadly) as I remember the white table clothes in the restaurant on the lower level but now that is gallery space and the restaurant is on the Main Floor by the entrance. And a GOOGLE site said the restaurant was CLOSED Wednesdays (which did NOT make any sense) and it is NOT. It is open seven days a week but it is a bit pricey so be prepared to treat yourself. However, I will add some information regarding the TOM THOMPSON TRUE NORTH exhibit on until mid-January. If you wish to focus on that ....and it is SPECTACULAR!!!!!......head to the RIGHT to a ramp up to the gallery. (There are elevators but you would need to ask for them). To the left are the main gallery collections and they, as well, are spectacular. You need to plan to spend a good amount of time here even to do a cursory examination of these amazing and varied collections.

McMichael is one of my favourite museums in Ontario. It is set in a beautiful piece of land which will undoubtedly inspire one to paint or draw. Stepping foot into the museum that was once a home to Mr. McMichael and family brings a feeling of contentment and joy. The collections, the permanent and current exhibits are all well curated. There’s a sculpture garden, the cemetery where some of the Group of Seven artists have been laid to rest, and a trail which is open to the public. They sometimes have tours which are well organized.

We were surprised by menu in its restaurant. It was more affordable than we thought. We highly recommend walking along nearby trails, visiting gallery with gorgeous Group of Seven paintings, hiking and spending some time in the restaurant.

The out of shape female with shoulder length sandy blonde hair that sits in an office behind the front desk is extremely rude, has zero customer skills & is racist. For this reason, my friends & I who came here to have a great time will not return until that female is fired!...no one has time to deal with lonely, old, grumpy, racist females.

It had been a number of years since going to the McMichael. It was the featured display of Uprising: The Power of Mother Earth Christi Belcourt—A Retrospective with Isaac Murdoch that brought me and family. The gallery was nicely spaced for visitors during the Pandemic and was fortunate to attend before the third wave stay at home order. We will come back when there are featured art we admire.

This gallery is a must-see gallery! It is so well organized and contains magnificent artworks. I love how they walled several walls with windows and placed chairs and tables in front of them so that visitors can enjoy another type of art: nature! It is located on 100 acres of forested land along the Humber River; the outdoors is breathtaking. I loved the Sculpture Garden very much because it showcases art in nature. There is so much to see there. To anyone interested, I would strongly suggest visiting the gallery's website; it is a treasure of information (mcmichael.com)

I love this art gallery. Was here recently to enjoy the beautiful fall colours. Have been here many times with friends that come to visit. Hidden gem for sure! There is plenty of art, events and exhibitions. The restaurant has good food as well and there is plenty of parking (cost:$7 I believe). Make sure you walk around the area as there is a beautiful garden and trail to the valley.

A peaceful way to spend an afternoon: viewing the Group of Seven’s inspired paintings, which are shown in a natural setting similar to the paintings’ locations. An Atrium cafe and a lovely Gallery Shop round out the visit. TIP: check out the Membership price levels; for example: 2 Senior tickets and parking = $41, or purchase a Senior Dual Membership $70 (with a year’s worth of visits and free parking each visit)! If you are a practicing Artist, student or non-Ontario resident a year’s membership is only $45. Enjoy! 💕 🖼️ 🌲 ☕️

Little local museum. The family was very well off and there are many pretty objects. The city does a nice job of seasonal events and in the summer free concerts. (you may wish to park at st. Bride's next door as the parking general runs out.) Also there is a pokemon gym and stop.

Nature, backcountry camping, and art are my passions. I connect with the group of sevens paintings. The way this gallery is set up is perfect to get into the minds of the artists and admire these nature works of art. The building it's self is beautiful. Inside and out. Quiet nooks to sit and look into the forest between galleries after observing these artist's paintings. A perfect gallery for these artists to be appreciated for what they loved.

Every Canadian should be proud of this gallery gem nestled in a forest seen this time in its glorious autumn colors. My first visit to this iconic gallery. Art work beautifully arranged throughout facility. Truly impressed with indigenous masks, carvings and paintings. Group of 7 separated into various rooms showed how each on their own were brilliant but each influenced the others. Walked some of the pathways around the grounds but it would be even more beautiful in the summer.

All presented in a neat curatorial setting and within a great architectural interior space. The space outside of the museum is very large and includes trails, nice landscape for walks.

Drove more than an hour in the snow to visit this place and it was all worth it. The art on display is so amazing because they have such distinct styles. So Canadian. Everything is so well laid out, the descriptions were very well done and the ambience was just perfect. The Group of Seven displays were the last exhibit and they were fantastic. I've always admired their work but today, I realized how many other super talented female Canadian artists there were. I also appreciated their perspectives compared to the male artists. Just two gripes: Price: The parking fee was unnecessarily high at $7 and the admission fee of $18 was rather high compared to the number of exhibits. As a result, I didn't feel like donating any more. (Call me cheap, maybe, but it's a matter of principle.) Attendants: I wish they had more attendants who were more knowledgeable of the artwork. I met a young recent high school grad and he was awesome with sharing many insights into the artists, the grounds, buildings, etc. This place is about the same as when I first visited it more than 20 years ago. They have room to improve and justify the admission fee.

It's a beautiful property. Viewing the lovely depths of the surrounding forest was almost as lovely as viewing the artwork! Great outdoor installations.

The statue garden, the landscape, and the building itself are beautiful. We also love walking on the trails around the museum. The exhibition itself is well done, the storytelling and the way the artwork is split between the rooms make it clear who is the group of seven and their history. It's a bit pricey (for us, 2 parents and 4 kids), but it is well worth it, and a great way to spend a few hours on a cloudy afternoon.

The current Indigenous themed installation (pictured) is fantastic. Thoroughly enjoyed all the exhibits, as always. The gallery lobby and restaurant are stunning. The grounds are beautiful all year round-even now before the buds come out. Don't miss the sculpture garden and the lovely trails on the property. The Humber River trail behind the gallery as well as nearby downtown kleinberg are an added delight

A great place to spend a day on the weekend. The museum houses an impressive selection of art by Canadian artists. It is housed in a beautiful log cabin on a large, wooded estate. The galleries are spread over two floors. When we visited, they had the private collection of the Sobey family on exhibit. We booked tickets online but there was no one in the queue when we arrived so it did not seem necessary to pre-book tickets. The museum has a restaurant which was fairly busy when we arrived at 1:15pm on a Saturday. Outside the museum building, there are a number of modern sculptures as well as a cemetery for a number of the artists. Parking costs $7. Kleinburg's main street is a short 7 minute walk from the museum.

Been twice since things have open up and renewed our membership. We wanted to get there before the Sobeys exhibition closed. Truly a remarkable collection of Canadian art. The McMichael grounds are very large and beautiful for hiking or communing with nature. They have a restaurant as well.

A beautiful calm space to walk and observe inside and out. The group of seven art collection is breathtaking. Lunch at The Cabin Cafe was fabulous!

Fascinating art work. Well maintained and governed whilst walking around the various sections. Allowed to take photos. Super gift shop containing some of the pieces on note card to buy. I liked a mountain portrait and was able to buy a card of the same.

Thanks to the coronation on May the 6th, we got to enjoy this place for free. However, we still had to pay $7 for parking. It's a lovely location with a number of paths through the grounds that you can enjoy for free at any time. The Gallery has some beautiful pieces from the Group of 7 and a number of other Canadian artists. The building itself is worth seeing. While we were there, preparations were underway for a wedding later on after the gallery closed. It's definitely worth seeing this place.

I had a wonderful visit at the never disappointing, and amazing McMichael G.! Here's just a few pictures of some of the treasures that I enjoyed. I also sat and watched the short films done with the curator of the gallery. They were very personable and certainly enhanced a deeper understanding of the paintings I saw. Afterwards we had a really enjoyable picnic under the Canopy of exquisite mature trees ,all very quiet and peaceful. What a pleasure.! And I'm planning to go soon again when they open up the Tom Thompson show. I believe the first date is June 22nd.

The museum is located in the corner of a small town Kleinburg, hidden in a cozy park. It has very beautiful paths with interesting statues, wedding arck. The museum is also very beautiful, it has several halls, and there is also a very nice cafe, where you can sit and discuss the pictures seen in the museum, or have coffee or lunch. There is a parking too. So , recommend to visit....

The museum is called the "Museum of the Seven" by the Chinese world. This is because it is a collection of seven artists. One of the leading artists is McMichael. Since 1955, McMichael and her husband, Robert, have been exhibiting the Seven Artists of Ontario here. Later, he initiated the donation of the collection and the venue of his own property for the exhibition to the Ontario government. The museum is divided into two parts, an outdoor section with sculptures and exhibits. The indoor section has been expanded several times to its present size. The main building was designed by Leo Venchiarutti, a local Ontario designer. The building's name is Tapawingo, from the Aboriginal language, which means place of joy. However, the design forgot to provide a loading dock for the exhibits, so it is impossible to display large exhibits here. To be honest, the flow is the key to the exhibition hall, and there are many "pockets" of space here, so I forgot to visit one or two places. I also saw a children's play, a one-man show, which was great. The theater on the top floor. I highly recommend going here, and I'm sure the experience is better in spring and autumn.

Well curated exhibits, really enjoyed the Group of seven hall - distinctly together to compare and contrast. Nice aboriginal pieces. Also, the surrounding park and grounds are lovely.

Many collections of Group of Seven, but comparing with AGO, those are small size. The garden at the entrance was quite lovely.

An extensive collection of Group of Seven works with many works by Tom Thompson in particular, but other works as well. Other Canadian artists are featured in this large modern gallery set in a beautiful wooded property in Kleinburg, Ontario. About a 15 minute drive from Toronto Airport.

Building and grounds are very nice. Be aware parking on site is $7 but you can park in kleinberg for free for 3 hours and walk 7 minutes to the door. We saw the Tom Thompson exhibit which was fantastic.

I photographed a wedding here and the experience for the couple and their wedding party was excellent. The grounds are very well maintained and offer multiple locations for photos. I would suggest this location to Wedding couples looking for an outdoor photo location that has beautiful landscapes, lots of parking, bathrooms and walkable areas with shaded seating areas.
