A great casual place to get Italian food, in the area of little Italy. We were going to sit on their patio, but it looked like it was going to rain. If you can get a seat there, it will definitely make your experience even better! Ordered two pastas and the mushroom truffle bruschetta. It was really delicious and the waitress was always checking up on us. Love coming here and highly recommend if you’re in the area.

One of the oldest Italian spots in the city. The pizza was good My favorite was the pasta carbonara. the chicken parmigana was not great the second time I visited. The staff were very nice and helpful and the whole restaurant has a lovely atmosphere. The prices are very fair and portion sizes are great. It's a good spot for late nights

Good casual place to go for Italian food. Their veal parm with salad was fairly standard. Dessert was the highlight of the meal. Service was very courteous and fast. We chose to be seated inside as their patio was packed, but the ambiance is definitely on the quieter side. We were mean mugged by some other patrons for having an animated conversation.

Lovely service. There is no doubt it is a good restaurant&cafe as per their history. Delicious meal and decent prices. Good to spend weekend afternoon

LOVED this restaurant. Portions are large & I enjoyed everything I ate. Got the bruschetta with mozzarella cheese, calamari, fettuccine chicken Alfredo, & a bacon tomato sauce that I forgot the name of now. The cannolis were also really yummy & piped to order. Can’t wait to come back, their calamari is honestly the best in town.

This a very nice place to have a romantic and low key dinner. When I went there, I had a marvelous time with my wife. We ate a lot and the food, so.. was amazing.

Visited Cafe Diplomatico Restaurant on Sunday evening, place seems busy but has multiple tables inside and outdoors to accommodate everyone. I loved sitting out on the patio and enjoy my food while watching the street chaos! Ordered pasta, pizza, sangria and desert. Customer service excellent. My friend forgot her phone on table, which was returned upon call. Grateful for the employee who returned it. Little expensive price as far as food goes, but worth for the service they provide. Have great offers on combos for lunch. At night it’s hard to find parking around the area. Outdoor patios has heaters in cold winter nights. Ambient is quite amazing and vibrant environment.

WOW ok this is my new favourite neighbourhood spot. The second we walked in our server Pony made us feel like VIP, suggesting great dishes and asking what we loved. She was super attentive and took the time to make sure every little detail was taken care of. The food is absolutely fantastic, hot and fresh, we suggest the pizza with prosciutto! Can't wait to come back to try more great items on the menu.

Exceedingly average, would suggest another location in Little Italy. - The front-of-house staff were excellent. friendly, patient, professional - Tables were consistently cleaned and staff seemed ontop of things even in a busy day - The front patio is spacious and good ambiance between the streets and the restaurant - The veal pasta was bad. It looked like it was from a jar and tasted like it too. - The Ragu was better, if not overcooked I think this felt like a very tourist-trap location and expect that there are far better locations to eat in Little Italy.

Very comfortable place. Back is open with big TV. Food is great. Specifically handmade past. People are nice. I make sure to come back again for some pizza this time. Recommend this place for everyone. Thanks.

Pizza was good, the service needs a bit of work. I wanted to get going as they were getting really busy and would rather let someone else sit down but waiter between order drinks and bill did not really come by often. They were probably busy with others it's nice not to be rushed, but it was a little too long. One thing I have to complain about is the steak sandwich. I got one 2 years ago for lunch and it was a great amount of meat and perfectly cooked. The single little thin piece of steak was burnt. Pretty much paid for bread. And the bun wasn't even really toasted I still ate it I was starving but honestly I should of declined it right when it came out. Nice atmosphere though and all the other food looks great .

Food and the portion size were both great. The atmosphere and interior design were old and kind of country style, which I believe can be renovated to modern design. About the service, we had a lady who served us, which was acceptable, but the issue was with splitting our bills. She couldn't do so because she said they've installed a new payment system that same day and she still doesn't know how to work with so we had to pay all bills together and split up after by ourselves.

This Italian restaurant right in the Heart in Little Italy, Downtown Toronto gives out homemade recipe meals where want to go again and again and again 😋 Their Outdoor patio is now open with covered shelter, though it's still been quite chilly outside. When one time picking up a order for a customer, couldn't actually move due of people or Staffmembers walking back and forth. Very popular. Guarantee this coming week, nice weather is awaiting everybody 😏 However going to try their foods. SkiptheDishes customers give this place a big thumbs up. That's for sure. Anyways good job 👍🏼

We walked in and were hit with a rancid smell which only got worse as we made our way into the restaurant to our table. We asked to be sat outside in the heated patio instead which was much better. The menu is priced well with very cheap drinks as well. Got the tiramisu which was good and a couple drinks.

It’s a gem! Look no further for great Italian food, friendly service, broad wine and cocktail selection. It’s our go to place for comfort food, everything is always fresh and delicious. Both pizza and pasta are just perfect! My favorite dish is lobster ravioli. Good thing about their menu is that you can customize your pasta and pizza just the way you like it, add all your favorite ingredients and accompany it with a sauce you want. They also have excellent and affordable desserts, the tiramisu is the most authentic I’ve tried in Toronto, and Tartufo is not easy to find nowadays, so it brought me back to Italy for a moment. The atmosphere is relaxed, and it’s a good place for a friends night out, family gathering, or a casual date night. The only two things that need attention: 1. Since it’s summer, they open their windows and it attracts a lot of flies. They are all over the food. I know that fly traps aren’t aesthetically pleasing, but maybe it could solve the problem? Or window nets. 2. The waiters are good, but slow. Sometimes they disappear for 10-15 minutes from the floor and we had to wait to ask for the bill or to refill our drinks. Other than that, perfect! We always enjoy our time here ♥️

Great staff and service. We had an issue with veal parmigiano that was ordered and our waitress delt with the issue with such professionalism. Our kids loved their breakfast meals and my pizza was very satisfying.

An institution in Little Italy, where you just can’t go wrong with the food here. Very freshly baked pizzas with absolutely faultless dough, toppings and cheese spread. In no way you feel bloated after eating their huge portions here, which I must attribute it to their use of fresh ingredients and olive oil. Given the location, I expected prices here to be very steep but I was surprised that they actually have very reasonable prices for their pizzas and rates for toppings. Unfortunately, I can’t say the same case for the prices of pastas on the menu. Hence, the 5 stars are solely based on my experience with the bruschetta (appetizer) and the pizza. We also took advantage of the “Sangria Mondays” where a pitcher of very fresh sangria is offered at $34 plus tax. Agreed that it is still pricey but I do recommend trying it at least once during summer. Despite a busy Monday evening, the staff here maintained smiles and warm service at all times while they were on their toes.

I loved sitting out on the patio and watching the world go by! Pretty standard fare as far as food goes, not good, not bad! Nothing seemed to have any unique flavours! However I love that this historic establishment has managed to remain vibrant in the community!

Top 3 Italian spots in my opinion. Nice casual setting, good prices, nice portions, great selection, fantastic taste. The ravioli with the creamy tomato sauce was absolutely mind blowing. The pizza is also nice but not as nice as the pasta. The sandwich felt stale and wasn’t my favourite and the soup was just alright. but the ravioli alone made up for the rest.

Diplomatico Restaurant has a cozy feel with old photos on display, creating a nostalgic vibe. Live music adds a nice touch, making it a good spot for a casual date night. The Carbonara and hamburger are tasty, standing out with flavorful sauces. However, the pizza didn't quite meet my taste expectations. Overall, Diplomatico offers a decent dining experience at fair prices, and the lively atmosphere adds to its appeal.

Went on a very calm evening, service was efficient! Food was very good, although I was worried about getting lentil soup due to the sheer amount of lentil soup I eat regularly that might lead me to be disappointed but I was ACTUALLY surprised with how good it was! Alongside a side of spinach and a chai latte (not pictured) which were not as good as the lentil soup, but still a nice addition to my meal! Looking forward to visiting again, atmosphere was great and the food was yummy! **Chicken cutlet was good according to my friend**

We went down to Little Italy excited to try some authentic Italian food and stumbled into this place. So happy we gave it a shot! From the outside, it is not fancy looking but it definitely has character. We sat outside and easily got a table on a Friday late afternoon. Our server was super sweet and very attentive. We ordered arancini balls, a personal cheese pizza, a meatball sub, and a cheese calzone. Everything was delicious. Including the complimentary bread! I didn’t care for the marinara, though, but that is a matter of personal preference. I was also surprised that the calzone contained sauce inside, as that is not typical of a calzone, at least from the US. But it was still good. The others in my party enjoyed their meals as well. I would come back here again to try more of the food selections!

I took my friend here for dinner today since I have been here a few times before and enjoyed it. First of all, it was super busy (no empty tables) but when one came available we were seated immediately. Our server Zhina was incredible! Bubbly, smiling, and very attentative (not just to us, but all her other tables). I ordered the panzerotti and my friend ordered the linguine carbonara. To start we had bruschetta. The food was hot, delicious, and fresh. Despite it being a busy restaurant, the food came out quickly. Outstanding food. Outstanding service. Afterwards, I had a cannoli and my friend had the tiramisu - both were outstanding. Highly recommend.

Portion sizes are nice, the meal was decent but nothing spectacular. Good place to go for a quick Italian meal while watching some sports but not really a place I'd spend a lot of time in when there are so many other options around. However, the service was mediocre. After finishing my meal, the server gave me the bill right away (without asking if I wanted anything additional) and shortly after paying he was asking us to leave right away. This was at around 10pm when it was not busy and plenty of tables were free. Unprofessional.

I can’t say either the food or drinks here are groundbreaking, but honestly I will also love this spot. The perfect patio to post up to for a drink in the summer, only to lead to a decent pizza to share with friends and just have a good time.

Always a good meal for a good price in a cool spot in little Italy. Our server Sam was awesome. Would recommend the patio at night for the best experience

Place was pretty busy on a sunny Sat afternoon. Service was incredibly slow. We waited for 10-15 mins for water to be brought and had to ask 3 times to order food. We ordered a panini sandwich and the gourmet burger. The panini arrived and was the wrong order. My burger arrived cooked more than I'd asked for and was even a little burnt. It also arrived on a saucer with no sides as I assumed it would arrive with fries but wasn't told this by the server. Our waitress then disappeared. We waited 30mins and finally I asked for the manager. Really nice guy and apologetic, saying how difficult it was to get good staff. Shame about this place but I'd think twice before eating here again. One point of note was a server who, the whole time we were there was delivering food to tables with his mask under his chin.

to put it bluntly, this might be the best restaurant i’ve been to in toronto. where to begin with cafe diplomatico… the food? out of this world. the prices? likely the only place in toronto this affordable in 2024. the service? fantastic!! our server megan was quick, thorough, friendly and knowledgeable. she was there to cater to our needs before we even knew that we had them. we had the fried calamari/shrimp and caesar salad app. the fried cali was literally 30 seconds between the fryer and being delivered to our table. the caesar salad was garlicky, creamy and delicious. we shared the rigatoni in vodka sauce, a personal size cheese pizza and a fried panzerotti with custom toppings. although the pasta and cheese pizza sound simple, the flavours and textures spoke for themselves. the panzerotti was everything it should be and a generous portion with leftover to take home. we had a bottle of delicious prosecco that ended with me accidentally knocking the last of my glass over. not to fret, leo (who was working hard the entire night to clear tables and run food) was instantly there to clean it up and let our incredible server megan know that i had spilled. it was here that cafe diplomatico went above and beyond by bringing me a new glass of prosecco full to the brim to replace my spilt one. such attention to detail does not go unnoticed. the desserts (we had the tartufo and crème brûlée) were decadent and the perfect way to end a meal. all our food and drinks were $200, you truly cannot beat that. don’t be fooled by its tame outside appearance, the atmosphere was very relaxed and homey. this place is exactly what you want when you think of italian food, hearty, homey and delicious!

I was out late in Little Italy and this was one of the few restaurants still open. The waitress was very friendly and the food is decent for cafe faire. I especially liked the chill atmosphere, with locals sipping coffees and reading newspapers late into the evening. The desserts, such as the cannolis, are delicious as well.

Really busy on a Thursday night! We sat on the patio. Thursdays was half of martinis and white claws! Obviously had to get one — lychee! Also got a bucket of beer for the boys. Love their wheat beer. As for food, prices are very competitive for downtown prices. Pizza and pasta portions are big! The steak was delicious as well. Overall, very satisfied. Will be back!

I have been attending the “Taste of Italy” festival at this restaurant for the past two years, and I must say the culinary experience is truly remarkable. The quality of the food is outstanding, accompanied by reasonable prices, and the ambiance creates a delightful atmosphere.

This place has a lovely patio. The pizza and soup I ordered were quite tasty. The wait staff are very friendly. My waitress helped us take photos. Another waiter, though not on my table, brought us takeaway boxes.

Easily the best spot to go on little Italy neighbourhood for food. Despite being extremely occupied, the staff always seem to handle the crowd really well. The food options are really good. You will always be satisfied with any dish you order. And this restaurant is the go to spot for anything football related. The celebrations here are something never to be missed.

Cool Italian place. They have great pasta and you can even make your own pasta. I sat on the patio outside at night, ambience was great. I didn’t wait long for a table. Menu price is mid range, not the cheapest but not very expensive either. 4 stars because although the server was nice and regularly checked up on us, there was a miscommunication about my girlfriends order and my gf ended up getting the wrong pasta sauce. But overall the food was really good.

Wonderful food and reasonably priced with outstanding service. The patio is big and very well kept. As you can see from the photos I went there in early evening and no wait.

I decided to treat myself to some breakfast today. The resturant had good food however the server told me to pay for my meal before getting it, appearently the system wasnt working at the time. What a coincidence. It made me feel extremly uncomfortable as I notice other customers paid for their meal after they finished eating... Sincerly a person of colour🤎 😘

This place is always busy, meaning it's an excellent restaurant. If you want amazing food, you have to wait for it...so for those reviews complaining about wait times...anyways. I went yesterday and had a great server, Elizabeth! My boyfriend and I had an incredible meal (seriously, the food is amazing) and the service was fairly quick! Would and have 100% recommend this place to my friends; it's very reasonably priced as well.
