Nice decor. Seating is limited. Staff are nice. But coffee is always sour. I really want to like it but it’s not drinkable.

Love Balzac’s! This location is perfect. The cafe is so bright and beautiful. The staff are always nice. My go to are the cappuccino and the mocha. Both delicious!

I had an absolutely wonderful experience at Balzac’s Liberty! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere that immediately put me at ease. The decor was tastefully done, creating a cozy ambiance that's perfect for both relaxing alone and catching up with friends. Balzac’s Liberty menu was a delightful surprise, offering a wide range of options to cater to various tastes and dietary preferences. The baristas were not only skilled at their craft but also incredibly friendly; they took the time to explain the different coffee blends and helped me choose the perfect one that suited my preferences. The attention to detail in crafting each cup was evident in every sip I took. And let's talk about the food! The pastries were freshly baked and utterly scrumptious. I couldn't resist trying a few different options, and I was not disappointed with any of them. The balance of flavors and the quality of ingredients used truly stood out. This Balzac’s is one of my favourite spots in Toronto.

Fantastic little coffee shop. Cool in the heat of the summer, fast free internet, friendly staff. Was a great place to get some work done.

This coffee shop is my favourite place to hang before and after my yoga classes. I really like this place because it has a good ambiance and not too crowded as well. The coffee shop has its all, however, I'm only giving 3/5 stars because I've been to this coffee shop many times only disappointed each time due to their poor customer service. The servers/cashiers/barristers are not friendly. Will only visit for a takeout coffee.

Nice place with lovely decor. Ordered Cortado and asked for a bit customization. The cashier was nice and friendly. Coffee was also good.

My favorite place in the neighbourhood. You can never go wrong with your coffee fix. The welcoming vibe and some nice workstations are a definite plus. They also have some cutesy tables outside; definitely on my list for a sunny day.

Delicious iced coffees and very tasty pastries. Wide selection of hot coffees. Always a stop planned here before strolling through Liberty Village. Friendly team of baristas.

They have little breakfast sandwiches, sweets and salads. They only have enough croissants for the morning rush so if you go after 3:00pm, they only have cookies and brownies left!! They have outside seating; three table with French chairs. It’s a nice cafe, I can’t work there long term, it can get too crowded but it’s a nice cafe to read and hang out with friends.

Great cafe in Liberty Village to grab a coffee and pastry (scones, croissants, cookies)... Lots of counter and table space seating, but with the crowds, can be a bit loud.

Nice black coffee at reasonable prices. I really love for all the different milks, sugars and toppings you can help yourself to - this area is always neat and tidy too. The almond croissants here are great. There’s limited seating options - on the weekend you likely won’t find a table without waiting a bit but when we came during the week we found a table straight away.

I was excited to try this place, it had great reviews, it’s super cute inside. I ordered an iced coffee with some customization.. the staff was nice but the coffee wasn’t great. I love bold, strong coffee, and this wasn’t it. I’m not sure if I was given decaf by mistake or if the coffee is normally weak. Either way I was left disappointed.

Favorite coffee spot in Toronto. Best tasting beans for Americano/Espresso in the city. Also one of the most addicting and delicious carrot cakes Ives ever had. Great spot and wonderful staff!

Love Balzac’s coffee. Visited multiple locations already and always good. Had the salted caramel latte and a vegan banana muffin and was delicious. Staff is super friendly and this location is great.

The location and ambiance are so nice. I always get the shortbread cookie for breakfast. I just hope that maybe next time they make a lot of maple cookies since this is my favorite, lol. But overall, everything is good, and the staff is very friendly.

A delightful spot to savor a cup of coffee and leisurely spend weekends; the exquisite carrot cake paired perfectly with black coffee is a taste I adore

I picked up my first Too Good to Go surprise bag and it was also my first visit to this Balzac’s location. Located at the NE corner of East Liberty St and Hanna Ave, it’s easy to find and so chill this Sunday morning around 9am. Staff was super friendly and assisted with my pick up and taught me anything higher fat than 10% cream will break their steamer 🤭🙊 I ordered a medium roast drip coffee with steamed cream, ate one of my muffins in the surprise bag (delicious!) and left ready to tackle the day! Really enjoyed my time here sitting at the long tables by the window.

It was nice to sit with an americano, (excellent flavour) chit chat with my partner and be able to dog watch. What I recall is this feeling of being in a fast paced yet relaxing atmosphere.

I’m getting mixed signals cause they told me I couldn’t bring my 5lb puppy inside but I have seen other dogs here before and have also seen milk bone dog treats by their cash register every time I’ve been here. Had to go to the Tim Hortons across the street instead. Good Americanos though.

Great place for coffee or trying to get a few things done online. Staff is friendly. Decor is nice, synthesizing the old and new.

Love the interiors of the cafe, it's the only reason why I would consider coming in now. However the brewed coffee here has consistently been disappointing. I must have gotten over 4 or 5 cups, tried different coffee beans but they just taste like water. It's so weak. I've had to throw out several after trying to drink it. On the other hand the lattes are okay, not much complaint.

Bought 2 maple cafe canadien with oat milk today and I was disappointed with it because it had bits of milk (like a white flecks) as you drink..This drink was expensive. I was not satisfied at all. :((( I was expecting something sweet and a balance of bitterness.. (as I usually get it from another balzac location) . will give it a chance next time. Please make sure you prepare drink properly..I would really appreciate it . Thank you.

Great place for a sit-down coffee. Extraordinary Parisian bistro atmosphere in a historic building in Liberty Village. It's better than Starbucks. I always get the Americano. For the fall, they have cider which is delicious.

Balzac's Liberty Village is hands down the best coffee shop in Liberty City and its surrounding areas. With a cozy ambiance and top-notch coffee, this spot is perfect for catching up with friends or enjoying some quiet time. The baristas at Balzac's are skilled and friendly, ensuring that each cup of coffee is crafted to perfection. Their diverse menu offers a range of delicious beverages, satisfying both traditional coffee lovers and those seeking adventurous flavors. In short, Balzac's Liberty Village is a must-visit coffee haven. Don't miss the opportunity to indulge in their expertly brewed drinks and charming atmosphere!

Nice stuff and very good service. Oat milk flat white is the best for me. Also spinach brioche and magic bar are so delicious 🤤. Dont forget to give your smile to crew.

consistently good coffee/espresso and some solid baked goods as well. I like how the location is very central and the inside is very well decorated. Solid spot and staff are always amazing.

Atmosphere was good. Coffee was decent. Was dissapointed by the espresso. Was too sour. I'm an espresso drinker and had heard a lot about balzace but was dissapointed by it. Seemed like it wasnt made properly. Maybe a milk drink is better. Service and atmosphere was great

Lives up to the expectation! The food and drinks are really well done, everything seems to be made with care and passion. Very unique tasting items and extremely friendly staff. Highly recommend their muffins, they are delicious! The chai tea latte and cucumber mint sparking lemonade were great as well. Such a great spot in Liberty Village!

Great spot, great coffee and very friendly Staff. If you are an confused European visiting Toronto and looking for a nice place to have a coffee this is an absolute must visit.

Being perfect patio weather today, Balzac's was pretty empty and ideal for a long catch-up session. Delicious coffee and lovely baked goods selection. Friendly service behind the counter, too. This Hanna St location has a great vibe.

This establishment has been here for years, but I never got the chance to visit until today. Came here to catch up with a friend. It's a quaint little cafe with a decent amount of seating. The staff were very nice and service was quick. I felt safer knowing that there were some staff members reminding other customers to wear their masks. Especially with how tight some of the space is. In terms of coffee and food. I had gotten a latte and an almond croissant warmed, and my friend had gotten a toasted almond latte and a chocolate chip cookie. We both agree that our order was delicious

Pretty good coffee and great butter tart. Staff could be friendlier, and minimal outdoor seating

Their coffee’s great, but their cookies are even better! Probably the best Ginger molasses cookie I’ve ever had. Friendly service as well, thanks Johnathan!

Staff is friendly and their coffee is delicious. Their house blend is the best coffee iav had so far. Cold options need some work. Disappointed that they only serve nitro cold brews from a can.

I love this place. When driving into Toronto from Mississauga, I'll go out of my way, and pay for parking, for a proper coffee at this place.

  • 5/5 Andreea B. 2 years ago on Google
The most delicious coffee and beverages altogether. Make sure you pay for parking out front though even if there for a minute. Parking enforcement came around the corner as soon as we went inside lol.

Excellent coffee. Besides the cappuccino, they have a great oatmilk latte. Tastes like a warm oatmeal cookie and happiness. We also would get the pastries and those are great too. We hope they open more of these cafe's because it's a really enjoyable experience.

Still my favourite coffee place of all time! Balzac’s never fails to impress me with their coffee and espresso! The OG style drinks are where it’s at when coming to balzac’s! From hot drinks like coffee and lattes to cold ones like iced frappes and iced lattes, these ones are just perfected here! Have been to 4 different balzac’s locations and all have impressed! From the decor to the taste, all consistent with their brand. And service across all locations so far, ON POINT! Great job! Always satisfied coming here!
