Great location, cool looking venue. The reason I’m giving 3 stars is because the ventilation in there was terrible. It was balls hot, no air conditioning. To the point where even the bands mentioned it.

Great venue overall. It literally has five bars and decent spacing for aprox 200 people. Kind of looks like a medium size club with a stage on one side. Parking right across the street, coat check, etc. Been here for Yellowdays and it was great!

The venue itself was decent. Nice stage and many bars (never waited in line). It was very, very humid, though, and it seemed like there was no air circulation at all. It got very uncomfortable, especially since you can't easily access an outside area (except a small smoking area). My main complaint, as some others have said, was the women's washroom. It is downstairs ( it could be dangerous. I tended to wait until I saw other women going down before I did) and in horrible disrepair. I tried 5 stalls before finding one that locked. The soap was not working, and it was DIRTY. This would have been understandable had it not been for the fact that there are not one but TWO washrooms for men upstairs?? I was told they were not nearly as bad as the women's. This is enough to make me not want to attend another show at this venue.

Went to go see B Young on his Canadian Tour here and it was a pretty fluid event. Security could have been quicker getting people into the venue but they have limited staff getting people in so it’s understandable. The sound was loud and the bass was on point. It’s a good small venue for smaller artists to perform. If you’re going to this venue for a hip hop event be ready to be pushed and shoved around by attendees.

Great venue! I saw Gus Dapperton and Chrissy there last night and the sound was great. The only note I have is it would be great to have 0% beer options for sober and pregnant people.

Excellent venue with lots of space especially in the balcony when it's not parked out. Even when you're on the floor and it's jammed, it's still a great venue. Amazing acoustics and sound quality prioritized over fancy lights and sets. I can't speak for every venue but Phoenix gives a chill, relaxed vibe. I also saw Mahalia here and she was fantastic unfortunately I can't locate any videos, but check her out too!

The venue struggles a little bit with crowd control,,, but can you blame them? Drain gang fans are known to be feral. The security guards were kinda rough,,,, and a little bit rude,,, but only to people who were not following instructions -- albeit the instructions were not always clear. However, all in all, the lighting and actual design of the venue is quite pleasant. The sound is impressive, and the bars on both sides of the main stage room, are placed well. Also, the washrooms at this venue are much more accessible and clean than other bars, clubs, or concert halls -- so thats a big plus. Pleasant experience.

Always a good time when you're seeing a band you like. Venue has been around forever...that being said unfortunately it will be a condo sooner than later

Love this place. Feels local. No fuss. Great place to catch rock and punk shows. Needs some AC for a 5 star review.

Great show and venue. The Balcony offers seating with an excellent view for a few dollars more per ticket... well worth it if you prefer to sit for shows.

Grateful to have small old venues like this in Toronto. For the first time we sat at the upstairs balcony rather than the standing floor downstairs. It was not bad. Upstairs has separate bar ( if you are interested) and the views were still good.

Phoenix Concert Theatre is a fabulous venue for music. Acoustics, and sound is pretty good. I was there to watch the performance of The Crystal Method, which was very good. A place to check out music acts if your in the city of Toronto, Canada.

Staff here are super welcoming and accommodating. My partner was pregnant when we went and they had accessible seating at a standing room only show. The show was great, too! Overall the venu is fun and in a nice area with ample parking directly across the street. My only complaint is that the sound was a bit muddied at times.

Went to the boom 97.3 totally 80's Halloween party and it was so good. Staff was helpful, bathrooms were clean, and the drinks were flowing. Would definitely go there again and looking forward to it.

Good sound, service and security. Lots of cool air, almost no lines at bars (especially recommend one on a balcony)

I always have mixed reviews of this venue, but my experience last night was really good. The line to get in was organized and security was helpful and not rude like they were in the past. Only down side was merch was cash only so make sure to come prepared but they have an ATM too. In terms of sound quality if your on the balcony it's not the greatest but the pit is where to be anyways!

The Phoenix is always the same. Great venue to see live bands! Only issue is accessibility ,Women’s washroom is downstairs and smoking area has no ramp just dodgy metal stairs.

Went here for the first concert I've been to since becoming a wheelchair user. The staff was extremely kind and accommodating. Without prompting, they brought out a ramp and made sure I could get inside okay, as well as taking me to an accessible bathroom as many times as I needed. Unfortunately they didn't answer any of emails I sent asking if they were accessible beforehand, but the staff made up for it when I got there.

One of the best venues in the city to see a concert. The acoustics and sound are great. Lots of bars located all over the place to get drinks and get back to your spot quickly. I recommend ear plugs if you are close to the stage. My ears are still ringing lol.

I will be swooning for the rest of my life from the Adam Melchor concert, but I would sooner rather than later forget the bass reverberations from the club's sound system. This needs some TLC, ASAP! Balcony has excellent (read: comfortable) seating with a good eye line to the stage. I would however like to see the metal railing replaced with a glass one to remove visual obstructions.

Great venue for concerts. Grab a beer and enjoy the music. Fortunate to see I Mother Earth and Sloan here last night. Fantastic event with a great atmosphere of music lovers. I will be coming to more concerts here in future.

Amazing show. Great atmosphere. Great people. By the end of the night, we had created our own weather system inside. Lol it was literally cloudy (moisture) inside. A great, old school venue. Many thanks!

Went there for the first time to catch the Obituary+Immolation tour. Was quite packed but no fuss to get in, was quick. Could grab a beer fairly easily as well. I thought the sound at the venue was great! Perfect levels where they didn't tip anything over, the gig had a pretty great mix all through. Will def go back

I came here for the first time when I saw the band Molchat Doma. All in all, a great small-medium sized venue, drinks are priced as you'd expect at a concert venue of this size, and bartenders were great to chat with. Audio quality was top notch, no complaints. The only gripe I experienced was after the event when everyone is trying to leave the venue and get their coats at coat check, it seemed to take a lot longer to get everyone out compared to most venues. I also saw a couple people ahead of me not get their jackets because apparently they gave them out to someone else. Thankfully my jacket was there, but just something I noticed that I thought was worth noting. For me though, my experience at the Phoenix was great!

Still a good venue with great staff and expected prices. Sound is still a bit of an issue but I'm sure keeping up with the newest and best is not possible for smaller venues like this.

Spacious concert space with fairly balanced sound distribution. Drinks seem to be very overpriced, and bathrooms are tight and lacking in privacy. Nevertheless, a great venue to check out some great heavy metal bands from local and international scenes.

Was here for the Carcass/Sacred Reich concert and it was a fun time. The staff were friendly and the acoustics were decent but the beer was on the pricier side compared to other venues.

I had an amazing time at the Phoenix concert hall in Toronto! The venue is cozy and intimate, with great sound and a friendly staff. The hall has a lot of history and character, and hosts a variety of artists and events. I saw some bands there, namely The Acacia Strain, Fit For an Autopsy and Escuela Grind, and they were amazing! The crowd was energetic and the bands were awesome. The hall also has a bar. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves music and fun!

Amazing. I've been there a couple of times, but by far, this is the best event I have been to. Good job WeTouchGrass

Pretty decent venue. Friendly staff and the balcony benches were totally worth the extra money. If they had a better selection of craft beer I would give them 5 stars. Not sure if there is some law that forbids venues in Toronto from having good craft beer available at shows but this is my main issue with EVERY venue I have been to in this city. Still a good time and I would definetely see another show here.

The Phoenix is a good mid-sized Toronto concert venue. The staff are efficient, and the sound and lighting are usually on point. It's definitely starting to show its age and could use some upgrades, but not to the point where it's shabby. I've never had a bad experience at the Phoenix and they continue to book some of the best acts in the city.

Great concert venue for small shows. Limited bells and whistles, and small bar. Sound is average, however this is an amazing spot for getting a good view and feeling connected to the performer.

Pre covid 1500 people can fit in here. In the covid world it's 250. Not bad😀 great stage and lights. Amazing sound.

I was a little nervous about the Epik High show playing here when I saw the Google reviews. However, I had a pleasant experience this time. The security workers were nice and got things done quickly. The only flaw was that they could have organized the lines better. The venue is cozy and intimate and the lighting effects were well done.

Best concert I've been to in a while, the acoustics were awesome, there was enough space for a mosh, and there was a separate area that was perfect for relaxing when I felt overwhelmed.

Lovely venue, I can’t wait to come back. I have never felt cared for and happy to be around event staff in my life, but these people are the nicest I have ever met. The sound is fantastic on every set, the beer selection is great, the smoking section is convenient. I love this place!

The best concert venue I've been to in Toronto. Large enough to attract big names but small enough to remain intimate. Parking right across the street is a huge bonus, as well.

This a great venue for live music, I've been many times and will go back whenever someone I like is playing. The woman at the door last night was rude to us and their bar selection is very limited, so they lost the 5th star for me this time.

Not known for the best sound, or for opening their doors at the scheduled time (no matter the weather). They do host an incredible array of bands. Just don't use the washrooms if you can hold it.

One of my favourite small venues in the city! Just small enough to have an intimate concert but big enough to to have enough room no matter how busy it is.

Chase Atlantic, Beauty In Death Tour - November 2021 Phoenix Concert Theatre is a small and packed place, but the audio and sound of this tiny venue is amazing for fast paced concerts and hyped performances. The floor is a little wonky and creaks a lil' from the density of a jumping large crowd. Absolutely 0 Leg room if you're in a floor crowd, got stepped on many times, but overall an amazing experience.

  • 4/5 Jess S. 1 year ago on Google
This is a pretty decent venue although a little run down inside. Staff were friendly and very helpful, which bumped the rating up to 4 stars. Tips for first-time visitors: The "box seating" area is a weird narrow ledge barely wide enough to scoot through sideways (especially once everyone else is seated in Boxes 2 and 3), and the barstool seats are extremely uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. Box 1 in particular gets very cold at night, as it's near the doors, and the right loudspeaker is a very minor obstruction for all 4 seats. Box 2 also has a hanging light fixture obstructing line of sight to the stage for its seats. There are stairs EVERYWHERE: to get into the venue, to the floor, to the balcony area, another step up to get to the box seats, and then a final set of stairs down to get to Box 1. They're very difficult to navigate in the dark and rather poorly lit. Drink prices are shockingly expensive. $10-11 for a tall can of domestic beer or vodka soda is just silly - they may be able to get away with that nonsense at the Skydome but it won't fly with me at a venue this size. They also don't have food for sale and there aren't any restaurants too close by - be sure to eat before your show.

Been here a tone of times, one of my favourite venues for sure! It’s small and intimate and old and just full of soul. Very thorough pat down on the way in. Pretty chill on the weed smoking last show I was at. But I have seen them super strict about it on the past.

Such an amazing venue to see artists. Wherever you are, you've got a close view. It's an intimate location that makes each concert something you'll never forget.
