I had an appointment given to me more then than a month in advance. I arrange my whole schedule for the month of March in order to make this appointment and when they called me to remind me, they changed my appointment time from 2 PM to 8:30 AM (which I can't make). I tell the receptionist no my appointment is for 2 and she's like "oh it looks like it was rescheduled for 8:30." No one bother to call me to even ask if that time was convenient for me. I told her I wanted my 2 o'clock appointment and her response was "sorry we already have someone else scheduled." This is the most unprofessional clinic I've ever dealt with. Considering many of their patients deal with chronic pain, you'd think they'd be more responsible with peoples time and quite frankly her attitude was so blazé as if they weren't responsible for the inconvenience. Horrible experience!

A great Rehab facility, rooms are functional and safe, most personnel is very professional and courteous. Physio and OT are wonderful. Food can be a bit plain but is edible. Now be aware that there are a few people in the nursing staff that are just not cut for this kind of career, it is sad how they an label you in their systems if you dare to speak up for yourself if you are ignored for a long time while you have pain for example, or if you are talked to as if you are ignorant, they expect you to just take it and say nothing, threats of kicking you out with security because you wouldn't take their offensive behaviour, getting in your face and talking to you as if there is nothing you can do to their verbal abuse is really difficult to handle. If you do have an elderly family member there please pay attention, they could have been mistreated. Once again, most personnel is wonderful, just pay attention for the very few rotten apples.

A good rehab facility that offers services not provided by hospitals for post-surgical care. There does however seem to be a real lapse when it comes to coordinating care at home and in the community upon discharge. More involvement from social work is desperately needed to make this transition smoother, thereby ensuring optimal healing and recovery. However, in general, the staff are hard-working, pleasant, and the care is client-centered. A good experience overall.

I spent 6 weeks here after a bad car accident. I almost miss it. As with most things in life, you get out of it what you put in. I was on the 7th floor. The nurses were excellent, especially the head nurse. Very experienced. Physio and OT also top notch. They got me walking again and moving my broken elbow.

My mom was transferred here from Toronto General back in March after having emergency surgury to remove a blood clot. After a month of rehab, the team brought my mom back on her feet. They were everything a rehab facility should be; caring, honest, respectful, helpful, and knowledgeable. Thank you so much!

I cannot find the right words to explain how happy I am to know my father had the greatest care team for his recovery. To all the staff members on the stroke unit, you’ve all been absolutely incredible. Communication between staff, my father and myself have been perfect. All questions have been answered in detail. Support has been given whenever needed. Everyone is super friendly, understanding, compassionate, patient and professional. It is time to take my father home and I will actually miss this place.

I can not thank the staff on the 10th floor enough. Between Toronto Rehab and the Sunnybrook, they had become our second homes for the last 2 months. With the loss of a family member and serious critical injury to another, these were the toughest times in our family ever. Every single staff member we dealt with made us completely at ease and they helped us through our roughest of the times. No matter what we asked them, no matter what time of the day, they never made us feel unwelcome. I highly commend the way the staff members have to deal with their day to day lives with grieving and tense situations. Wish no one has to visit these places, but if you ever do, know that you're in the right hands.

We were referred to Glad Program. We loved the program and has helped us to get our mobility back. We enjoyed the program and loved the exercise taught by Sonya Raposo (Physiotherapist/ Kinesiologist), Physiotherapy assistants (Mark and Vuan). Their main goal was to help the patients learn the exercise, do it and get better. Loved the program and wish could continue. Thank you Sonya, Mark and Vuan for sharing your expertise with us, guiding us through the program thoroughly and for providing excellent care. Keep up the excellent job and you all are asset to Toronto Rehab at 550 University Ave, Tor

My mother who is 86 years old and had a left hip replacement. She had 4 replacements on her right leg and that leg was always weak. So really after her left hip was done she had both legs that were not mobile. Toronto Western decided to send her to Toronto rehab University which was the worse decision. While at Toronto rehab she was pushed to walk walk walk because they wanted her out in 2 weeks. I later was informed that this was a fast paced rehab. Really not the place for an 86 year old who had both legs not functioning.. her right leg was shorter due to her previous surgeries and she usually wears a lift. The PT did not like her shoes and made her walk with socks and she had to walk on her tippy toes with her right leg which wasn’t strong to be in same level as her left leg. When I spoke to the doctor he advised me that everyday my mother was there over her allotted time was going to cost the hospital money. After 1and a half weeks she suffered a fracture in her left hip… without any falls. She was transported to Toronto Western and spent 1 week bedridden there and then transported to EW Bicknell where she spent another 2 weeks bedridden. This set her back in her recovery efforts. It is now middle of Feb and she is still not totally mobile. Wish they had sent her to a better facility from the get go.. I feel she would have already recovered. She is now doing outpatient physio at Hennick Bridgepoint. They are absolutely amazing there. Very disappointed with Toronto rehab.

No communication. They dont keep my husband updated on the treatment plans for his brother, and the receptionist is very rude when you call with a concern.

I was placed on the 11th floor on August 30 in the brain injury rehab unit. I was supposed to be there for 6 weeks. Upon my arrival I was met by an amazing nurse named Parve , she went through everything I needed to know. My goals were to be able to walk out under my own abilities at my release date. I met the women who would be my physio team while I was at 550 university avenue. I met Irene who was able to get my strength up so I could possibly walk without a walker, then I met with Brianna who helped me with the occupation therapy and then I met Michelle who helped me with physio and occupational as well. All three women were very professional and caring while I was in rehab. The hospital staff were also amazing, from Parve ,Gia, Jennifer along with many others, they made my stay at the hospital simply amazing. I’ve got a saying ‘it costs nothing to be nice ‘ and this applies to EVERYONE at the rehab Center, I was treated and cared for during my 4 1/2 weeks like I was a family member from EVERYONE. I’m absolutely blessed that I was a patient at the rehab centre. The food was difficult ( except the breakfast was great) for myself, but I’m a picky eater. With everyone’s help I was able to meet my goal of walking out the exit doors in 4 1/2 weeks ( 1 1/2 weeks earlier than expected) under my own with no help or a walker..I can’t say enough kind and thoughtful words to describe my stay at the 11th floor rehab Center. I have very fond memories from my stay at the hospital, simply amazing, thanks for being so kind and nice to me thanks Ed Hortensius

I was admitted to TRI on October 24 after undergoing brain tumor surgery at Toronto Western Hospital. When I arrived on the 11th floor with a little nervousness, the hospital room, which made me feel like a hotel room, made me feel comfortable, and when I met Jia, a nurse, she completely let my tension go. Jia cared for me and other patients with a perfect professional spirit and love. Many other nurses, such as Meesun and Christina, also helped me a lot in my recovery by checking my condition from time to time. I was able to feel myself recovering quickly by working out with Hannah (PT) and Orla (OT) every day, and I would like to thank Jennifer (SW) for coordinating the whole process well. I am grateful that the efforts of everyone working on the 11th floor made me recover quickly, and I feel lucky to be able to stay there. I will NEVER forget the month I spent there. Everyone, thank you once again and I love you. YOU WERE MY ANGELS... Joshua Ilkoo Lee
