UPDATE: In all of the negative reviews, this company tries to justify their overpriced vaccines saying that it's because they have "excellent customer service." Well, isn't that what the consultation fee is for? Why charge us a consultation fee and then markup the vaccines 100%. It seems like they're charging their customers twice for their "excellent customer service." Oh and by the way, if we ever need to go back there, they will change an "office visit" fee on top of everything else. Unbelievable! Deducting one star. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Their vaccines are way overpriced. They add around 80 - 100% markup. I got charged $290 for three vaccines but my health insurance said those should only cost around half of that even with regular pharmacy markup. I only got reimbursed $90. I'm still giving 2 stars because the nurse who assisted me was very knowledgeable. She was also very nice even if my appointment was on a Sunday morning. It's not her fault that the clinic overprices vaccines. Do yourself a favour, just get a prescription from them and then try and get the vaccines from your pharmacy. Of course, they will charge you for the prescription but it will save you hundreds of dollars in the end. Needless to say, I will never go back there.

I visited this Passport Health Clinic back in 2019 and their service was pretty good, I only needed the yellow fever recertification so I just went there as it was the easiest one to book an appointment with. This year, I decided to do a bit more research as I needed a few vaccines before my trip to South East Asia and I wanted to compare the different prices. I can certainly say they have the most expensive prices of all (consultation fee of $79, hepatitis A for $128, typhoid $83-$90, tetanus $100, etc.). After calling a few more places, I realized a few other travel clinics up North but still within GTA, charged $40-$50 for consultation, $86 for hepatitis A, $42 for typhoid and even mentioned that Tetanus is covered by ohip and that they wouldn’t charge me for that one! So even though Passport Health has good service, if you’re on a budget and are looking to save some money, I’d recommend you look at other travel clinics as this one and their Yorkville location were definitely the most expensive ones out of 6 different travel Clinics that I called and inquired about their prices.

Like some have said in previous reviews do your research before attending this clinic. They seriously JACK UP their prices over other travel clinics. They claim this is due to their "superior service" which is truly a lie. I've attended another clinic in the past which offered great service at a fraction of the cost. I seriously regret attending this clinic. They are all about making as much money out of you as possible. I was flat out lied to by their nurse when I asked if it was better to get my prescriptions from the pharmacy. She told me they could dispense everything to me at the clinic. I went with it trusting what she said. What they don't tell you is they charge between double to four times the cost for prescriptions as your local pharmacy. DO NOT get medications from them. They are ripping you off. Even if you have medical and prescription benefits at work they will not reimburse you due to the fact that this clinics prices are way above the customery price of the vaccines and medications. Wish someone had told me before I was hundreds of dollars out of pocket.

The person on the phone was fairly short and rude. They only provide covid testing on certain days and have no recommendations on anywhere else to go. Which is all fair and fine, but you don't have to make me feel like a jerk for asking if you could recommend somewhere that's open today....

Hot tip: You can get a discount by filing your documents out online. It's quick and easy. It was easy to book and there are several locations. They go through a lot of detail explaining things to you and giving you a choice of whether you want something or you don't. Depending on how much time you have before your trip, they'll even let you know if you can get something cheaper, through benefits or free through your family doctor for instance. They also give you time to consider what you want to do, and you can always come back without having to pay the consultation fee again. They are definitely on the more expensive side, but it's also convenient and downtown Toronto. Importantly, they are up front about the pricing, so I appreciate the honesty.

Do not waste your time or money here. I used to frequent the Travel Medicine Clinic on Bay -Dr. Scappatura was efficient, highly knowledgeable and a complete joy to deal with. His fees were always reasonable and prescriptions were included as part of the visitation fee. Unfortunately his clinic is now closed so I came to Passport Health. What a nightmare. There are no doctors, only nurses who try to upsell you all kinds of vaccines that have nothing to do with your actual trip. Moreover, they charge separately for prescriptions, which was not clearly disclosed up-front. Some of their recommendations do not even make sense - if I am travelling in two weeks why are they recommending a vaccine that has to be administered over several weeks that would coincide with my trip? The nurses are clearly following a script - I I don't need to be lectured about the benefits of a certain drug if I have already taken it many times before. The whole visit was unnecessarily time consuming and frustrating. I refused to buy their drugs because it seemed to me that they would be overcharging and based on past comments, they appear to do so. I will definitely look for another clinic the next time I have to travel.

The worst experience I've has at a travel clinic -- I showed up 15 minutes late to my appointment because of heavy traffic and no parking downtown. When I got to the office on the 14th floor it was completely empty except for the doctors who said they could not longer do the appointment because I had missed my time slot (which was 1 hour long). When I checked the website an hour after, I found several more time slots available for that same day. This is a private clinic so if you're going to spend your money, do somewhere that will at the very least be a little flexible.

Tosan, our travel specialist, was friendly, knowledgeable, clear in her communication, laying everything out for us in a patient, nonjudgemental manner after getting insight into our situation and needs. I would go back to Tosan in a flash. Thank you Tosan!!!

PassportHealth provided us with recommended or required vaccinations for our Middle East destinations as well as routine vaccinations recommended for all travellers. Tosan, the registered nurse went through them, crossing off the ones we had records of having received and went into full detail about the ones both required and suggested. Each vaccine was fully explained and the costs were presented. Tosan noted that some were available free of charge from OHIP or could be purchased from PassportHealth. In addition to vaccines, preventive measures were also offered for our destination. The document provided by Tosan outlining everything, including costs was part of the package we received from PassportHealth. This was a great service provided by a very pleasant employee, Tosan. Thank you!

The staff are very knowledgeable and friendly. My nurse, Tosan, was extremely impressive because of how well-versed she was: she was able to explain all necessary travel medication, including details on when/how to administer the medication, all seemingly off the top of her head. She explained it in a very clear and concise way, and was happy to re-explain when I missed anything. After attending Passport Health, I feel like all my questions were answered and I'm ready for my trip. If you're preparing for a trip and need some health advice, you should definitely go to Passport Health and talk to nurse Tosan.

I went to passport health to get a prescription for travel vaccinations but was told they do not provide prescriptions for medication they sell In-house that is marked up four times the price charged at a pharmacy. Total waste of my time and money. They charged for information I already available on the internet.

I went to the Victoria street clinic for my African Safari vaccinations. She was super friendly, knowledgeable, and informative. She answered all my questions and even had a bowl of lollipops. I’d go back there for any travel vaccines.

  • 4/5 Ayla L. 2 months ago on Google • 5 reviews New
The nurse was knowledgeable and kind. The cost of the consult if you filled out the form online was $79. The vaccines themselves are more at this clinic than others I’ve seen. For example the Yellow Fever vaccine was $331 and my partner paid $233 somewhere else for the exact same thing.

It was so quick and easy, they run you through all of the recommended vaccinations, pros, cons, and costs. It felt so transparent, and the nurse was really kind about my fear of needles.

I had a great experience at Passport Health this week. After registering online on Tuesday, I had an appointment booked for Thursday. The online system for loading your medical history was quick and easy. The nurse at the clinic was fabulous. We went over a certain destination that was added to my (fast approaching) upcoming trip, as there is a small risk of Typhoid. At no point did I experience any upsell, just a sharing of information about risk from an expert, and the informed decision on how to proceed was mine to make. The clinic was immaculate, and very close to the TTC. A very professional and well run organization that can discuss/solve your travel concerns quickly. I have worked in health care for a long time, they know what they are doing :)

Had a really pleasant appointment with Leah today! She was informative and straightforward about the vaccines recommended for Mexico and didn't pressure me into ones that I didn't need/want. I'm typically afraid of needles but Leah made them as painless as possible, and I'm a little less scared for future shots now. This is a private clinic so expect to pay private prices, but if this is in your price range I would highly recommend. I was able to have my consultation and receive 2 vaccines within the 45 minute appointment, and was given a nice folder with all the drug information and full receipts. I was seen as soon as I walked in, didn't even sit down before Leah came out. And she gave me two lollipops!

Fantastic service that I can't recommend enough. I am about to embark on a particularly lengthy trip and within a few hours of making my appointment Leah, one of the nurses, had contacted me directly asking for some more details so that she could prepare for our appointment. Leah has been so incredibly thorough with making sure I received as much information and guidance as possible, not only in our consultation, but also going out of her way to forward me helpful information afterwards. A service worth paying for, making me all the more excited for my trip and a lot more prepared - thank you!

This is my second time using Passport Health, and although it may seem daunting to pay for a service that you can get for free online/at your doctor's office, this private health facility has been really able to put my mind at ease while traveling. They are travel specialists and you are paying for piece of mind, since many GPs are not travel specialists. This time I was seen by Leah who was courteous and knowledgeable in the areas of Africa that I was visiting. I would definitely return, and would highly recommend this clinic.

A very professional and clean environment, and the employees were very kind, understanding and were knowledgeable. During my consultation visit I was very well informed of various kinds of vaccines, other travel medications, their function and other small details that was specific to the country I was traveling to. It was especially great because they even gave me advice on certain legal matters about vaccinations within the country itself that I was unaware of, along with other questions I had that were not regarding the travel medication they provide. They were also good at administrating injections themselves, I was glad to have gotten it done all in one day! Overall great experience, only down side is that the consultation fee was a tad large, although they do provide a nice $10 discount for completing a customer information form prior to your visit.

Very nice, clean and well organized, the staff here are very helpful and friendly, I went there with my kids and I was well welcomed, they explain everything to you they take all their time to make sure you understand everything. I will always go to them each time I will be travelling, highly recommended.

  • 1/5 Itunu M. 2 years ago on Google
Service was decent enough but they seriously overcharge for all their vaccines and medications, like I'm talking more than 50% of the cost at a regular pharmacy. I agreed to take all their meds and vaccines rather than get a prescription (which they charge for btw) since I had insurance through work but the prices are so high that the insurance company would not cover more than what a generic version costs which is a significant fraction of the cost they charge. We ended up having to pay a LOT out of pocket. This place is insane, avoid at all costs.

Excellent experience at this clinic. The nurse was informative and fair. She was focused on providing me with important information rather than selling me. She also advised me of the fact that I needed a standard booster (unrelated to travel) - thank you! The office was easy to find, clean and welcoming. I was seen early and did not have to wait. I was out within 45 minutes as promised. If anyone is wondering, they also have travel essentials like water filtration tablets and travel mosquito nets (etc) so it’s a great place to ask all your questions!

Fantastic Clinic! This the second time I've used passport health (in this case it was a preparatory clinic for a trip to Costa Rica) and I could not recommend them more! Their staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and professional, and I felt very comfortable discussing my medical history with my nurse. I also want to stress how skilled the nurses are at administering vaccinations - I was very comfortable during both visits and the nurses were efficient at getting the needles in and out! I will definitely be using passport health for any future travel needs :)

Overcharged me ~$120 for my vaccinations and medication. The internet was down when I went, so I authorized a credit card payment with a paper slip for around $350. The charge on my credit ended up being $475 for the exact same vaccinations that my friend got from Summit for under $300. (: They never gave me a receipt and I stupidly forgot about getting one. Don’t come here unless you want to be conned of your money. Go to Summit instead when it reopens and safe travel is possible again.

Experience was great and quick. You come into consultations for one trip and can get all the info you need for that one trip. Additionally you get prescribed all your shots there. There is extra costs for consultation and shots that ohip doesn’t cover its recommended for long travels!

I had a consultation appointment for my Travel Vaccination last week on Friday, 20 January 2017. I decided to go to Passport Health Downtown Clinic because it is a very reputable firm for travel vaccinations. Since I am traveling internationally to 8-10 countries this year (in different continents) to compete in IRONMAN triathlon races, I knew that I had to get my vaccinations updated. I was greeted by one of the Travel Health Nurses, Kinza Malik. She was prompt, professional, patient, and very knowledgable about the various concerns and questions I had about the different diseases that are endemic to the various regions of the world. She explained things in "plain English" and helped me understand all the health issues and side effects in layman's terms. She also worked with me to decide on which vaccinations to take that fit my budget. She was also very attentive and helped me understand the dosage requirements for the oral vaccination pills required for Typhoid Fever and Traveller's Diarrhoea. I am grateful for Kinza's consultation and feel much safer about my international travel this year, and in the future. I definitely recommend Passport Health Downtown Toronto Travel Clinic for all your travel vaccination needs. Great work Kinza, and thank you so much! Tenchi

I would not go back to the passport health clinic. Their service was bad. I got very early to my appointment and let them know that I had stepped out of work and they did not care at all. A guy came in after me and said the same thing and because he talked to a different person he was given the yellow fever vaccine first. Honestly the price is ridiculous. I found out that usually you can get the yellow fever vaccine at the airport of the country you are going to for free. In my case if you go to Colombia you can get the yellow fever vaccine at the airport. Do yourself a favour and research this before you pay $250 to get this vaccine

While service was excellent - pricing for vaccinations or drugs are extremely inflated (in some cases 70%+) beyond the point where insurance will pay for coverage - it's gone OVER the insurance company's established rates that have ALREADY accounted for a retail markup - BE PREPARED TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET EVEN IF INSURED.
