I was referred to this hospital after I had a silent miscarriage. Although, this was one of the most tragic events in my life, my experience in the hospital was pleasant. From the moment I parked to the day of my D&C, everyone was helpful and empathetic. The staff at the women’s health center looked at my file and understood that I was going through a traumatic loss. I was not just another pregnant patient, but rather a mother who was mourning. I will never forget the moment when a nurse said to me, would you like me to take you to a separate room instead of the waiting room? The waiting room was full of happy pregnant women, their partners, and even mothers with newborn babies. I proceeded to another room with the nurse. The room was so peaceful, it had multiple types of spiritual books, more comfortable chairs, plants, and best of all, it was quiet. That is exactly what I needed at that time, peace and quiet to process my grief. Just that simple act of kindness and empathy really uplifted me and transformed my experience at the hospital. I also noticed that the gynecologist was involving me in shared decision-making. He educated me about all my options and allowed me to pick the one that works best for me. I really like that he took my mental health into consideration when making these decisions with me.

I had emergency surgery. From the moment I walked I was greeted in a professional, friendly compassionate manner. The workers all care about there job. From Isaak, Dallas to Olga and Tessi and the countless doctors who attended to and fixed me. I had so many great doctors caring for me I can't remember all there names. I believe Dr McIntyre did the surgery. Perfection

I’m absolutely stunned that anyone could say anything bad about this place. We went here for delivery of both my children and have had truly wonderful experiences all around. Most recently, my son was born this week and the doctors and nurses were amazingly hard working and helpful. Recovery nurse Maria went above and beyond to make my stay more comfortable. She insured we were kept in the loop and never felt neglected. My night nurse Sheila was kind and warm. The doctors were knowledgeable and helped us with every question and concern including advice that went beyond birthing my child. I would highly recommend this hospital to anyone giving birth. Keep up the hard work, some people do appreciate it!

Worst Hospital ever. If you come here you will be more frustrated than any other time during your life time. This is a joke. If you come here you will definitely become worse both mentally and physically. Do yourself a favor and stay away. 8 Hours of waiting and no feedback. Everyone will tell you lame excuses and go back to chatting with the others. No one deserves this even your worst enemies.

Can’t say enough positive things about the labour, delivery & recovery units at the hospital. We had very attentive nurses and doctors who cared for me and my twins every step of the way. Shout out to L&D nurses - Maddy, Heather and recovery nurses - Stephanie, Corey, Hannah. All the anesthesiologists were very empathetic and helpful. The after support at the BANA Clinic was also great - Connie is an incredible lactation consultant and helped fulfil our hopes of breastfeeding. Thank you all around!

3 hours waiting in the room, my appointment is 8:45 am, by the time I get there its 8:30 am and they told me that my appointment was at 9:30 am, I asked if I can wait and she said yes, she gave the form to fill up, also to return the form and to wait. However I waited until it was 10:30 am. She told me because I came early my appointment didn’t come first. I told her I understood. I still waited until 11:30 I go to ask her again “how long do I have to wait?”. She said “I don’t know maybe 5 minutes or 10 minutes maybe another hour”. She asked me do you want to cancel your appointment to make another appointment later? Wow, I waited 3 hours now you told me to cancel my appointment and make another appointment? Sounds not right, I walked back to wait again another 15 minutes. This time they finally called me inside. I don’t know how the system works, when I step in the number running from 74 up to 86 they have 12 patients in the waiting room my number is 86 I gave her the number and filled the form, then I waited until all the 12 patients left. They left the number running up to 99 and changed to 00 totalling to another 14 more patients, the number started running from 1 to 10 all new patients coming in and 14 patients almost left out to their home, I’m still waiting until I asked to receptionist about it. She told me if you didn’t want to wait cancel and reschedule next time. That’s the way you treated the patients? That’s my first time I’ve ever seen the Saint Joe hospital 8 floor Mary Ent, Not a very good first impression.

So sad “ A Hamilton woman is angry after she says her father, who has dementia, was discharged from St. Joe's last Thursday and was later found outside his supportive residence in just a hospital gown.” “ A friends mother was sent home from the hospital against the family’s wishes last week. She had a fall and lay on the floor for 11 hours before someone found her. Family had no idea she had been sent home The system is broken”

I was referred to this hospital to get an MRI on my shoulder. I’m still waiting as my appointments keep getting pushed back do to unforeseen issues? I have taken time off work to go these appointments only for them to call me last minute(90 minutes or less) to say they need to reschedule. Today, I lost it. The excuse today was that their state of the art machine was down. Yet, a few weeks ago they called and tried to reschedule my appointment for this day, but I said this was the only time in the next few weeks that I was available. The staff told me they would guarantee that I wouldn’t be bumped. Go figure, the machine just so happened to be broken on the same day as my appointment and they couldn’t call me the day before so I could go to work. Machines don’t break over night not being used. Especially these ones.

If you have 10 hours to waste then this is the hospital to go to. Got there around 10pm , seen by triage nurse by 11:30, then called to see another nurse at 2am, then finally admitted at 4am. Had my chest X-rays at 4:30am and wasn’t seen by the doctor until 8am. They had one doctor all night, she was very nice however waiting that long to be seen was unacceptable. Was not admitted to a room since there were no rooms available and had to sleep across 4 chairs. I had came into the hospital for severe pain from being in a car accident and sleeping across chairs did more damage then good. Went home with a clean X-ray and some pain meds but I’m still shocked with the time it took to be seen. It’s clear they are understaffed and underpaid and are trying their best but the repercussions of these long wait times can have serious consequences to patients. Do better St.Joseph’s; for the sake of Hamilton.

i went last night at midnight so technically it was jan 31 2024 and overheard two nurses in triage talking about people coming in for ‘no reason’ and it being ‘so annoying’. as well as the triage nurse talking to me was very condescending. i was in a serious car accident and this triage nurse looked so done and irritated with people coming in when i was just scared and want help. maybe some coaching on compassion and being a decent human would be nice as you’re dealing with some fragile people who very much are there for a reason. was sitting for over 4 hours with no estimated time given to me. was told to ‘sit back down it’s gonna be hours’. that was when i went home to finally sleep as some transient men were trying to speak to me and i was done with this whole experience. thanks st joes ur just incredible lol

I just wanted to share a quick note about my personal experience in St. Joseph’s hospital in the birthing unit . We would like to mention Dr Lea Luketic who was my OB during pregnancy and also we were lucky enough to have her for the delivery of our baby. With great patience and professionalism, Dr Luketic brought our little girl into the world. More than grateful to the medical staff for all the hard work and attention provided to us during our stay, in specific to Dr Sarah Saliva who assisted Dr. Luketic and not less importantly the amazing attentive nurses who accompanied us every step of the way, nurse Jenn Bradica and nursing student Sarah.Thank you again for your exceptional work and dedication to your vocation. I really hope this humble review helps to shine some light on the astounding and remarkable job that nurses provide every day at St Joseph’s Hospital.

Started off well. Staff seemed great. Timeline to see Dr was good. My wife's shoulder was very sore. They ran an xray and saw nothing. They said need a soft tissue ultrasound or mri. We said fear they said they don't do it for such injuries. Ok, odd but well go to a clinic. Dr then said they don't issue requisitions we have to go to family Dr. We indicated it's far and need it asap as it's been going on a week with pain. They indicated they can't help and need to go to out Dr. Called our family Dr, told her she was vlown away they couldn't. She had itnready within 1 hour and emailed us. What a waist of time and resources for them to not do the same. Incredibly disappointed as this should be a basic service issued by an emergency room. So Tele health referred us and emergency did nothing, was 5 hours worth of nothing.

I am highly disappointed, at the emergency on 07/25/2023 from 11am to past midnight was seen by 2 student gynecologist, they advised that they spoke to Dr. Grabovac a gynecologist will give me a call, ( she even spelled this name and I wrote it down) no call received, I called the emergency center was transferred to the information center she put me on hold to speak to the emergency center and came back to me that the name (Dr. Grabovac) does not exist and that I have to come back to the emergency center and start all over again . I am no happy about this outcome. It is highly unprofessional if after examining a patient and advising of a follow up call but not noted on my file. This is the crazy world we live on. We rely on the accuracy and professionalism of specialist. I am in shock that this is happening in the healthcare sector. This was a complete waste of time and efforts, now I have to start all over again

Such a shame to write 1 start review, but the staff on this hospital really earned it. 0 empathy, really. So disappointing. Not the right place if you are not a patience from here. Prepare to be here for long hours, that’s what they said before seeing me. Ridiculous.

The larger set triage nurse was incredibly disrespectful, causing me to have a panic attack. She refused to let me speak with her supervisor and deceived me by claiming she would notify them to come to me. Now I have to make the call myself because the situation made it even harder for me to breathe as i was hyperventilating. I don't understand why it became such a major issue for me to text my comfort person while she was typing slowly and not engaging with me at all. Whenever she paused typing, I immediately put my phone away out of respect but she would continue to stair at me with passive aggresion. My phone serves as a source of comfort for my anxiety, and her actions only made things worse. I am extremely disappointed in this hospital, especially since I have to visit frequently due to my illness and have never experienced such mistreatment before. Thankfully, the doctors who assisted me afterwards were absolutely amazing. They treated me with utmost kindness and respect and calmed me down quite fast.

Must say the nurses are exceptional. Husband recently had surgery here. I loved how every step of the day surgery process you can follow on the tv board, given a number and updates every step. Admitted quickly, as well as discharged easily and quickly. The only downfall was the number of homeless that sleep in the main entry way, seats. The garden area near the front entrance is a wonderful place to go out and sit with or without a patient. The food selection is limited buy foes have for those who can get away. Has a small store and gift shop. Parking is costly but manageable as many options along this stretch. If admitted has the option for tv rentals which ends up being $22 a night, a cash grab in my book! But can use there internet if you bring a phone or tablet of need be. Another downfall was that if you stay overnight, some rooms have no toilets after surgery which requires other patients to use other patients rooms to go the bathroom. So you have strangers in and out of your room all the time and all hours, if you are the one with a toilet.

The amazing care that I have received from Dr.Archibald over the past 5+ years, the nurses and support staff. They take care of YOU and reduce any anxiousness you may be going through. Questions answered and I wouldn't have wanted to be treated by anyone else. With both my surgeries here I went there knowing I would be well taken of. Obviously was very nervous both times but from pre-ops to the day of my surgeries I can not say enough positive things about this hospital. So happy I made the choice years ago to come here to be taken care of. THANK YOU!!

I recently had a great experience with St. Joseph Hospital. From the moment I began my prenatal care at the hospital, Dr. Donnery and the staff were incredibly attentive and supportive. The hospital was clean and modern. Dr. Valerie Bloomfield delivered my baby girl. She was knowledgeable and patient. The whole team were funny throughout the delivery. On my delivery day, nurse “Britney” was incredibly kind and attentive. She helped me every step of the way and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. Overall, I had a great experience at St. Joseph Hospital and I would highly recommend it to any expecting mothers. Dr. Cara Donnery and the nurses were wonderful and made my pregnancy and delivery experience a great one.

I visited st Joseph’s hospital several times recently, with most recent pet scan last night. I gotta say although it’s such a busy place, the staff there are amazing. They were all caring and kind . Emerg was same, staff working their buts but maintained kindness. The actual emerg is very small and overcrowded but not fault of staff. I rated 5 star because if the great workers

********** Caution ...***** red light cameras in Hamilton $$$ fines are $350... BEWARE ... slow down. St. Joe's is a maze of floors so get directions at the main desk.... great nurses and doctors .... I went there for a Pet Scan which is a easy scan where they scan your entire body with a blood tracing agent......'State of the Art Equipment" Parking is available on site or on the side streets but it is not cheap.....I would pay for Hospital parking ... convenient !!!

A Quick Update I was admitted by ambulance, into ER the day before Christmas Eve, with terrible stomach pain. They thought it might be my pancreas but they were more focused on my crazy heart rhythm. The gave me heart meds and sent me home the next day. That night, I tore my bed apart thrashing around in pain. The next morning back to the ER. They sent me home with a promise for an ultra sound that afternoon and a visit with a surgeon. Came back into town to the clinic, waited hours to see the doc and was finally admitted with a diagnosis of gall bladder needing to be removed and he, the sweet surgeon would do it. Spent the night and next two days waiting only to find out “sweet surgeon” was home with a sick kid. So now new plan, new doc. Anesthesiologist came by and approved the surgery and I waited another whole day only to have it cancelled by a replacement anesthesiologist who wanted more tests the next day which is today but it’s cancelled due to no staff in the lab. So…maybe tomorrow with yet another anesthesiologist. Try typing that word a lot! So we shall see what tomorrow brings. I choose to believe that everything is happening the way it should and so I see this time as a deep rest and now I’m in a beautiful private room with a lovely view. Thank goodness the didn’t put me back in that horrible ward. So that’s the story, which wasn’t so quick after all. Sorry. Prayers always welcome and so appreciated. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Meal portions are tiny when compared to any other in patient experience in Hamilton. Washrooms for patients are not accessible, they are old and tiny. Physio care is terrible, unreliable and unhelpful. Patients are left without a brief change (in their own feces) for an hour after multiple requests. If they're sick, take your elder somewhere else. Worst hospital in Hamilton. The lack of caring from most staff is really sad.

Took my mother to the child and flu clinic. No trouble booking an appointment online and it was within the hour. When we arrived we were greeted and directed to the correct area of the hospital. Checked in right away and brought to see the nurse for intake tests. We never even sat in the wait room! From there we were brought down the hall where a doctor was waiting. Everyone was very kind, professional and extremely helpful. My mother was provided with a summary sheet when leaving as well as offered to have parking validated. I am speechless. Best Healthcare experience I've ever had.

Gave birth here Dec 2022. Every staff member was absolutely amazing. Birth didn't go as planned, but every Doctor, resident or otherwise, was compassionate and made sure every decision I made was fully informed. The nurses were all comforting and calm. A week after birth, we brought our baby to emergency and, yet again, everyone was incredibly helpful and kind.

My son have a concussion. We when first to burlington hospital but they will see my son en 4 to 6 hours. When we arrived to St Joseph's Hamilton, 10 minutes after the nurse checked him, 20 minutes after we was waiting for the CT SCAN and just 1 hour after he was waiting for the results. Kind , efficient and professional staff. Thanks St Joseph's

I had a 4 inch long gaping wide gash in my hand. Sat there for probably 20 minutes just to be moved to another room. Another 20 minutes and a guy tells me it won’t be long until I’m out of there, that was a blatant lie and he knew it. Another 20 minutes and another room later and now I’m sitting there for literally 6 entire hours with a towel over my hand while people who got there after me with minor injuries goes first. Seriously feels like everyone was too lazy to handle my situation & I could actually SEE employees standing around talking. When I finally got taken care of, I was informed that the doctor had JUST GOT THERE. Meaning I waited through someone else’s entire shift, with a bleeding and gaping wound. If you can go somewhere else, DO IT. It wasn’t a busy weekend or anything either.

I just spent a week in St. Joe's Hospital because of my heart valve. They were very nice. A couple of days they have people playing guitar and singing. They have Tim Hortons. Little store and a pharmacy. Some days they had a local farmer selling strawberries and such and breads and such. They also had someone selling jewellery and someone with purses. It was really good. I was impressed.

I appreciate all healthcare workers especially those who work on holidays. But respectfully I had bad experience yesterday in emergency. I am asking my brother to write this on my behalf as I only have energy to sleep. Yesterday Dec 26 I went to emergency department at around 11.45am. My symptoms look like covid and I expected the doctor to do diagnosis(at least covid test). I came all the way here released me with just one minute talk. This is what he said "your oxygen is good. It looks like influenza or covid(my surprise was he can not even diagnose to find out which one)there is nothing I can do this needs nearly 6-7 to recover". I did not have much power to ask much questions. I strugled to reach to the door and get uber. I have so many questions in my mind is this kind of rushing to release emergency patients happened to me only or is it to everybody?
