So I went to VV Bloor today for the first time since 2018 or 2019. When I went back then, I saw bed bugs crawling all over a sweater, notified staff and they did nothing. IDK why I hoped for anything better today. 1. You can't try clothes on AND you can't return them. IDK who thought that was a good idea, but that is the worst business policy I've ever heard of. The fitting rooms aren't just closed, they're GONE. 2. Prices are NUTS. Many of the items are the same price or more expensive than you'd buy them new. $2.50 for a grimy mason jar without the lid? (some of them still had pasta sauce labels on them! Spend an extra $1.50 and you get sauce and lid) $12 for a ragged H&M t-shirt that cost that much – or less – new? $3 for this used $3 dollar store item? $18 for damaged unknown brand shoes? $5 each for scratched up dinner plates? I like buying stuff second hand, but I also expect to save money when I do so, and I expect to be able to try clothes on. Staff weren't masked so you can't pretend that's some kind of COVID policy, not that it would warrant no returns, anyway. I feel so bad for the floor staff who have to uphold these nonsense policies. DO NOT waste your time.

Value Village's significant markups on donated items exploit goodwill rather than support it, as evidenced by their $560 million in net profits in 2022 alone. Charging higher prices for used goods, donated goods, than for new equivalents is pure evil. This is not a thrift store, and offers no value to the community.

A few days ago i bought this sweatpants for $18, i get home realizing there’s no adjustable lace for it, their PRICES have gone up for ALL items they get for FREE & low quality. Used items shouldn’t sell “as new”, Its suppose to be a thrift shop. They’re close to prices of H&M, Walmart, Joe’s etc…

I usually don’t write reviews at all but I absolutely was on the ground in shock with the pricing of some items with no justification from management. I had an item with no tag. It was not name brand, was not a special material, it was just a black blazer. The manager priced it at 17 dollars and said it was because it’s velvet. I pulled the materials and care tag out and it said 100% cotton. She was extremely dismissive (because she can be, I found out that they don’t report to district or regional managers) and told me she wasn’t changing the price, forced someone one else to tell me that too and that was that. I didn’t buy anything and asked if I could contact someone regarding my poor experience and they redirected me to the survey on the coupon. Not a single person in the store could direct me to customer service or higher management. So if you ever have a bad experience, get hurt, or have your safety at risk in Value Village document everything yourself. At this location they are not looking out for the customers experience.

Love thrift shops. But like many of the Value Villages, the individual in charge of pricing is out of touch. LP records are priced at $5.99! At Kops Records (an actual record store). The same records can be found outside for .10 cents -.25 cents. And they are in better shape. Occasionally one can find a decent record at value village but I guarantee you are likely going to find that same record in better shape for the same price at Kops. The picture I have included is just to show the type of record and price you will pay. If this was an actual scratched up Elton John record, it might be priced higher.

Honestly one of the best thrift shops in Toronto. You will most likely be leaving with something that’s worth the haul. They don’t have ridiculous prices and a wide selection of things. Even after blowing up on TikTok for a bit there’s still some great finds for almost everyone. The staff are also great, they aren’t unapproachable and are helpful when you need them.

Great selection of thirft clothing. My daughter and I make costumes (for cosplay and entertainment). We found some good pieces to thrift flip into some cool outfits. It was very busy but overall a fun experience.

Prices have become ridiculous. Your stock is donated. 17.99 for a second hand shirt? 21.99 for a scratched up frying pan!? 24.99 for greasy jumper cables? Are you kidding? Can get some of this stuff for less, NEW at Canadian tire or Walmart.

The people working there are very nice. There is kind of everything if you are willing to look! And there is a washroom in case needed but can’t bring merchandise in for obvious reasons. I don’t think there are enough mirrors but this is just personal preference because when it gets busy the ones that are there get filled up pretty quickly. Wear something thin and tight so you can try stuff over because there are no change rooms.

Overpriced. Many Dollarama items cost more than new ones in a regular store (often twice as much). This is a SECOND HAND STORE. Value Village gets these things for FREE. The clothes are dirty and smelly. It is humiliating for people who are forced to use such stores. And in particular, this location has another big disadvantage. All Value Village stores have self-service checkouts, but at Lansdowne Ave, Toronto, you have to wait for hours.

I hate knowing that all the items here are donated. I feel like the company has lost their original idea about "value" and the importance of reusing. If I'm looking at a price tag that is comparable to a new retail store, I'll opt for new. I don't appreciate being gouged by donation run stores. The Haven on the Queensway is a much better place to donate!

It's hard not to have mixed emotions about this place, therefore a mixed review The staff are - almost without exception - hard-working, helpful and more than courteous. This is a major achievement given the abuse they put up with from some of the public. The management - almost without exception - are cynical, cheap, and disgusting. For instance, the moment the pandemic was over they withdrew the barriers - if that's the word - that were used to funnel one line of shoppers into multiple check-outs. This was a better system, since it averaged out the wait-time. Evidently, however, the barriers used to facilitate this system were rented, so the greedy/cynical management withdrew them the moment the pandemic were over and they didn't have to maintain caring appearances. For another, more serious example, the management has long tolerated the "occupation" of their store by a virtual gang of picker/dealers who basically LIVE in the this store 24/7 monopolizing the deals, swarming the carts, squatting in the aisles. These gangs are unsavory. Do any of them work? Can't any of them get a job? Have they really nothing better to do? Evidently not. It's human nature to take advantage and, with apologies to pigs, act like swine. It's for good management to control such swinishness, but unfortunately the management of this branch of Value Village are NOT good and indeed are somewhat swinish themselves. They make money either way, so why care about the dignity safety and well-being of their shoppers? So they don't. So by all means shop at this Value Village, just hold your nose.

Not a bad place for people looking for old antics and affordable clothes. They have sections for kids, men and women. They have electronic devices, some crafts, paintings, dads, etc. The staff are friendly and welcoming. Most of the stuff are used or donations but good way to recycle and make earth greener. 🌎

Very big space with many items. It is a hit-or-miss so don't be surprised if you come home empty-handed sometimes. Some of their prices are adjusted based on brands so you can get charged a lot more than what one item would typically cost there. Good deals are still possible. They are a for-profit that takes on donations for merchandise. With the new pricing strategies, it is not as cheap as it used to be. So take a great deal if you see one, otherwise don't bother.

Great selection of clothes, furniture and housewares at reasonable prices. This location got rid of their changing rooms, and that's such a bizarre choice for a store that sells so much clothing. Not sure about their refund policy, but $6 for a pair of pants is only cheap if they fit when you get home.

Good, cheap, and quality. Canadian people dispose of a lot of things, even new ones. This place is awesome when you're looking for antiquities, retro stuff, and collectables. Even for clothes, but at least I don't like buying second hand.

A real life saver if you need to buy cheap furniture, household goods, and clothes. Limited furniture - mostly chairs and tables when I went. Most of the time prices are very low or reasonable. Great place to find old glassware and knick knacks. They had a great collection of slightly used gift boxes that looked brand new.

This location is a lot to take in, in a bad way. Was really busy with tons of resellers and items discarded all over the place and on the floor. I was able to find some good items, but think if you’re looking for clothing I would suggest the vv boutiques on bloor or Yonge. The staff were friendly and helpful, but I feel bad for how messy the store was and don’t understand how they could stay on the top of it.

Used to be great! But now they raise the prices on brands like Nike or Adidas etc. to like $20. Same with Levis... You can find better brands for cheaper but overall the prices have gone up a lot from when I first started shopping here. I guess inflation is the culprit but the money grab mentality leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Still a wonderful place to shop and I will always come back to it!

Nope. Nope. Nope. Walked out without buying a thing. The prices at this location are insane. About 50 to 100% more than what any other thrift store would charge. Even with the 30% storewide discount that they were offering on the day I was there, the prices would still be more than the regular prices charged at other thrift stores. Their greediness makes no business sense, either. They could have made some money off me, but instead I walked out without buying anything. Don't bother going here. It's a waste of your time and money. Go elsewhere.

Great camera gear! This value village is BIG the area has great donators. Cool spot to check out camera gear as there are a few camera rental spots in the area and repair shops that end up giving their old stuff to VV. Like every other Value Village electronics cannot be returned. This is an issue as they price their electronics kind of high. Electronics sell "as is" voltage cords and adapters are sold separate so it's tricky. I got a Vivtar Flash, Minolta macro lens, Nikkor 55-200mm all for under $80. Surprisingly The Flash was the most expensive item ($25.00) and didn't work. It would cost too much to repair it so it's just going to go to a landfill unfortunately. Other finds have been a Canon rebel t3 for 60 freaking dollars 🙌🏽🙌🏽! *Tip* people often stop by this place too late to drop off their items, so they leave stuff just outside the gates off VV property so it's fair game free thrift.

This is one of my favourite larger thrift stores in Toronto. The prices are excellent, and the staff are really nice. It's conveniently located near Lansdowne Station, which is nice. The only downside is the parking is a bit tight, and there aren't always spots available when it's busy.

This value village usually has awesome stuff, but is *so* overpriced???? Like 10$ for a broken picture frame. 26$ for a broken crockpot 16$ for a plaid shirt If you are on a budget you won’t be pleased. If you’re looking for gems but not pressed about the price, then you will find a lot here.

I love this VV location! I bought some cute baby clothes and altered them to fit my 10 lb Malshi. They were $1.99-$3.99 each which is only a fraction of the cost of a shirt sold on a pet website or store and wayyy cuter! Sometimes you have to really sift through the junk for a few hours before finding a few quality items, and I have found some great stuff over the last 6-7 years, all at this location.

Always the first place I go look for clothing for my quick growing kids and entertainment for them as well, they keep the place neat and organized so fiinding something for specific weather or size is pretty easy. There is always something there that catches my eye... pricing is a bit silly though, how can you price one brand more than another if you got all your merchandise for free or bought in bulk by weight?

You really have to dig to find what you are looking for (or not looking for) but this is pretty fun. There is everything in there, from clothes to books and old tech. The cashier was super friendly. There is a bit more choice on the woman clothing side but I guess that's because they have more female clients than male clients.

The best location in Toronto, by far. Largest selection of everything, especially books. Always a long lineup, but it moves fast. Lots of young people always shopping here, and plenty of interesting stuff constantly showing up on the shelves. I drop by every few weeks here, and am never disappointed, even if I don't find something.

Yeap Indeed it is a thrift store, it reminded me as the shops we have in my country (but those are extremely huge and bigger than this one) prices are low indeed but not as low as I expected too, fortunately you can return shoes and clothes (just those 2 because the rest is final sale) and the have things really worn out and a lil not that worn. Of course I recommend you to go there but I expected a lil bit more of quality. I've been in premium thrift shops in my home country and man, they're way better that this.

My favorite Value Village in Toronto! I’m sad that this location is closing down because I haven’t found a thrift shop with as much variety as this one downtown. It’s great if you need cheap furniture especially and I’ve found some awesome clothing items as well. This place has a special place in my heart!

Big space with lots of items. I found some nice things for a decent price. I disliked that most of their shoes they are selling are quite dirty and worn but I just avoid the shoe section and focus on other items in the store. I also got an email with a discount code that really helped with my last purchase. And the staff were very friendly, helpful and very efficient. I will shop here again very soon.

I’ve had good luck here and found really cute decor. Clothes can be a bit hit or miss. This one is pretty popular so lines are usually long, if you’re only getting like one thing it might not be worth the wait in line

Just like any other typical value village. The store is quite large though so the selection might be good. Decently crowded when we went. No treasure this time! There's a drive through donation lane which is a nice thought

Amazing location, always great things to pick up Like shirts, coats, winter jackets, shoes. This store even has some great options for trousers. Value for your buck , if you appreciate vintage clothes this is a place to be.

  • 4/5 Peggy S. 7 months ago on Google
This is a pretty good location. Very close to public transit, on the large side for a VV, and relatively clean. I appreciate that they have a large selection of men’s clothing and several aisles of home stuff, mostly decor and kitchen items. The prices are not quite what they should be but that’s true of all VV locations now. It does get very busy and a little cramped at times and I’ve for sure waited 10-15 minutes to cash out. I really really think this store would benefit from self checkout. I have found some great things here though.

  • 5/5 Angela 2 years ago on Google
Best value village in the city. Spacious, lots of selection and variety of sections. For very fair prices you can get anything from boots to mugs to clothes to paintings. My go-to. I only wish I lived closer so I could go more often. I’ve heard that apparently it will be replaced with condos and I hope that’s not true.

  • 5/5 Google C. 8 months ago on Google
Amazing and huge location. Diverse crowd. Lots of selection. I found $300+ designer jeans for around $12 pre-coupon. Yes, some of the really cheap fast fashion is overpriced but there are tons of products that are reasonable and/or extremely discounted.

  • 3/5 Claudia P. 7 months ago on Google
I know this one is conveniently located on Bloor, but it's one of the busiest and more expensive Value Villages in the city. I find the aisles are also very small, so shopping here can get busy and overwhelming. Also no change rooms which is annoying.

  • 2/5 Melanie D. 2 years ago on Google
I love a good thrift! When you find a great deal, it’s such a good feeling. However the change rooms still being closed and saying that this is due to covid is really inconvenient. When you take a chance on a thrifted item, ensuring it fits is obviously very important. I hope that this will change moving forward. As most stores I have shopped in have returned to allowing customers to try on clothing prior to purchases.

  • 3/5 TOO MUCH M. 10 months ago on Google
There’s a large selection of jeans, but not a lot of interesting items. I didn’t purchase anything or stay very long because there is an overwhelming smell in the store.

  • 4/5 G J. 1 year ago on Google
Decent selection of books, though they don’t seem to get new stuff very often. A well-stocked tie rack, though expect to pay $7 even for some garish monstrosity. The lines are absolutely brutal, so if you’re just looking for some tiny thing, it might not be worth it.

  • 1/5 Dmitriy D. 1 year ago on Google
A few months ago I did not like that the store no longer had change rooms (they used pandemic as an excuse though most other stores in the city had change rooms). They wanted people to buy clothing without trying it and without being able to return it and get refund. So men had to change in the middle of the store. It was more difficult for women. A few days ago I bought a computer monitor. It had a mark on the screen as if it had been hit, I showed it to the salesperson and I asked whether I could check it before buying but she said they did not have a computer to connect it to. So I told the salesperson that I would have to return it if it does not work. The next day I brought it back to the store because it showed only stripes and black spots on the broken screen. I still had the price tag and the receipt. But the salesperson and the supervisor refused to return me money. Security came and tried to bring me out of the store. When I refused to leave until they give my money back, he called police. So I had to call police too. In the end the store returned me the money but I wasted much time. The supervisor and security also prohibited me to shop there again. So think twice before buying or donating anything there

What a huge, brightly lit and satisfying space! Came here to donate clothes, but ending up winding the halls of the village as well. Excellent book collection (lots of bestsellers), decent furniture, and the staff is great as well. Didn't get a chance to sift through the clothes, but there were a lot of them.

  • 1/5 Sachin P. 10 months ago on Google
This place is dangerous. My $600 bike was stolen today from right outside the main entrance (6pm broad daylight) . When I asked the staff and supervisor if something can be done or CCTV footage can be viewed I was given a 'there's nothing that can be done' by them. A lock was broken so it would've taken a while. No CCTV cameras covering the main entrance of a store this big? Pathetic. My 7 year old would make smarter decisions. Stay away if you want to be safe

Value village is perhaps one of the best stores in the world. They sell a whole variety of items ranging from books to clothes, but my favourite part of the store is perhaps the clothes section. They sell so many clothes with an amazing price per quality ratio, plus you may even stumble upon something worth a lot!

  • 5/5 Alex W. 10 months ago on Google
The biggest value village around me, always has a lot of new stock coming through and large sections for each area/theme. The toys area in particular is much bigger than other stores. The club thing can be confusing on how they have organized it but everything is there

my coworker got his arm sliced open when the company provided """"anti cut"""" gloves failed and they tried to blame it on him and fire him. not all of management is this dense but the fact a few people (including the store manager) tried to fire him over *THE PPE THEY PROVIDED* failing during standard furniture lifting practice is unforgiveable. This is not even touching on the countless other horrid problems this damn building has, but this has gotta be up there. Don't support value village, try out local thrift spots. edit: the production team in this specific building is also TERRIBLE at sorting as of late, please thoroughly inspect any clothes you want to buy for blood or other biohazardous stains.

A lot of stuff to find in this store. Just one black point sometimes some of the clothes smell a bit old. Be careful to wash as soon as you buy it. You can return in store in exchange for the same amount of money of clothes

  • 5/5 K. 2 years ago on Google
This is an accessible location with no stairs to enter. I have found some gems in this store. The store is well laid out, the clothes are clean and staff seem attentive and helpful. You can find clothes for adults and children, footwear, books, dvds, toys, sports equipment, home decore, accessories and more. It seems well organized from dropping off donations, scouring racks and shelves for treasures and to making your purchase. The only thing I would like more of is mirrors to check out how the clothes will look on. Prices are reasonable and there is an on site parking lot.

it's a very good thrift store but there's just some things that could be improved, the place is very overstocked, there's so much stuff that you can't even move the hangers to the side to see a pair of pants, but there's a lot of good stuff there and their antiques section is very good.

  • 1/5 andy w. 8 months ago on Google
I'd give this place zero if I could. Not only are things way over priced. But this place ( actually all of the ones iv been in). No longer have change rooms. So there is no way I'm going to buy a overpriced shirt or jeans if I can't try them on... no I don't care that they uped there return policy for more days. I just want to try it on.. buy it and be done with it. Spend your cSh somewhere else that let's you try it on and gives back to charity more then the bare minimum.
