I
took
my
husband
to
your
ER
on
Friday,
Jan,
6/23
on
the
urgent
advice
of
his
GP
who
was
concerned
about
“acute
kidney
injury”.
He
was
triaged
and
had
blood
work
and
urine
samples
taken.
The
ER
doctor
did
an
ultrasound
on
him.
My
husband
did
not
see
anyone
else
other
than
the
ER
doctor
who
sent
him
home
with
Flomax.
He
said
that
a
referral
would
be
sent
to
a
nephrologist
at
the
Grace/Birchmount
location
within
48
hrs.
By
Wed.
Jan.
11
no
call
was
received
so
my
husband
called
Grace/Birchmount
Hospital
and
was
put
through
to
a
messaging
system
at
Internal
Medicine.
In
the
meantime,
my
husband
was
getting
progressively
worse
and
his
GP
requested
more
blood
work
on
Thursday,
Jan.
12.
On
Friday,
Jan.
13,
his
GP
called
to
instruct
my
husband
to
go
to
ER
with
“ACUTE
RENAL
FAILURE”.
His
feet
and
legs
had
swelled
up
and
he
was
very
ill.
I
ended
up
taking
him
to
another
hospital
and
they
quickly
helped
him
by
first
inserting
a
catheter.
The
following
week
on
Jan.
24
he
had
a
cystoscopy
and
on
Jan.
30,
surgery.
Meanwhile,
in
the
afternoon
of
January
13,
Scarborough
Birchmount
Internal
Medicine
department
returned
my
husband's
call.
I
told
the
person
what
had
happened
to
my
husband
at
your
ER
and
asked
why
we
had
not
received
a
call
earlier.
I
was
told
that
they
never
received
a
referral
and
“that
you
would
have
waited
forever…”!
If
we
had
waited
longer,
the
outcome
could
have
been
devastating.
I
sent
an
email
on
Jan.
16
detailing
the
above
and
asked
for
an
investigation
and
confirmation
of
receiving
my
email.
To
this
date,
we
still
have
not
received
a
response.
However,
this
same
week
someone
finally
called
and
wanted
to
set
up
an
appointment
with
a
nephrologist.
I
explained
what
had
happened
and
the
person
apologized
and
said
many
times,
“OMG,
I'm
so
sorry.”.
