I
came
to
SGMT
because
I
knew
they
have
privileges
at
Sunnybrook
hospital.
I
knew
I
wanted
a
hospital
birth
but
I
also
wanted
midwives
for
the
postpartum
after
care.
I
was
so
relieved
to
receive
a
call
back,
as
I
was
worried
that
I
would
not
after
being
upfront
on
my
application
about
wanting
a
hospital
birth.
My
period
of
care
with
SGMT
was
between
July
2021
to
March
2022.
My
primary
midwives
were
Jennifer
and
Rocio,
along
with
a
student
of
midwifery,
Tamara.
I
also
had
one
appointment
with
Kendra
as
a
back-up,
and
one
appointment
with
Claire,
the
hospitalist
midwife.
Jennifer
was
who
I
had
my
first
appointment
with,
we
connected
immediately
over
our
love
of
knitting,
and
our
senses
of
humour.
After
we
initially
discussed
my
birth
wish,
hopes
and
fears,
Jenn
was
100%
on
the
same
page
with
me,
and
that
immediately
helped
me
feel
understood
and
like
I
was
in
good
hands
for
the
best
care.
This
continued
throughout
my
pregnancy.
I
always
felt
like
my
wishes
were
respected
while
being
realistic
about
possible
risk
factors
in
my
case.
Rocio
was
the
second
midwife
I
met
with,
who
was
another
warm
spirited
person
that
I
felt
comfortable
with
immediately.
Rocio
is
very
observant
and
was
quite
thorough
when
explaining
answers
to
many
of
our
questions.
Tamara
became
involved
after
a
few
appointments,
and
having
a
student
of
midwifery
with
the
team
was
something
I
really
appreciated.
I
felt
like
I
was
learning
too
when
there
would
be
a
teaching
moment,
and
it
reinforced
my
confidence
in
the
abilities
and
skills
of
my
care
team.
Tamara
is
kind,
professional,
and
always
took
care
in
double
checking
her
findings
for
accuracy.
Claire
I
met
with
at
Sunnybrook
hospital
to
discuss
and
prepare
for
a
transfer
of
care.
Claire
was
wonderful
about
explaining
all
the
details
for
what
to
expect
with
a
scheduled
delivery
and
it
helped
me
feel
relieved
about
the
change
in
my
birth
plan.
It
was
also
comforting
to
know
that
there
was
an
SGMT
midwife
based
out
of
the
hospital
should
there
have
been
a
situation
where
I
arrived
at
the
hospital
before
my
midwife
care
team.
Although
my
birth
wish
evolved
into
a
revised
plan,
I
felt
that
my
care
team
did
their
jobs
well.
Everything
went
according
to
plan,
there
were
no
complications
or
emergencies
with
the
delivery,
and
for
that
I
am
grateful.
After
the
first
48hrs
with
our
newborn,
we
experienced
some
concerns.
Both
Jenn
and
Rocio
were
super
supportive
(and
tolerant)
of
my
anxiety
(and
panic)
during
the
first
week,
so
an
extra
home
visit
was
arranged
with
Kendra.
Kendra
was
really
good
at
assessing
the
situation
without
having
ever
been
involved
with
our
care.
Kendra
recognized
that
our
feeding
plan
required
temporary
modification
and
wrote
out
detailed
notes
for
a
revised
feeding
plan.
This
was
so
helpful
and
very
appreciated
because
we
were
so
sleep
deprived
and
stressed
out
about
the
most
important
task
of
feeding
our
baby.
During
another
one
of
our
aftercare
appointments,
Rocio
noticed
a
possible
something
worth
looking
into,
and
referred
us
to
a
lactation
clinic.
Although
the
lactation
clinic
experience
at
first
made
me
feel
more
stressed
out
about
the
process
of
feeding,
they
did
confirm
that
what
Rocio
suspected
was
right
and
they
provided
us
with
recommendations
that
made
the
biggest
difference
with
the
success
of
our
feeding
goals.
I
felt
very
sad
when
we
graduated
and
were
discharged
from
SGMT
as
I
absolutely
loved
my
entire
experience.
I
can
not
recommend
this
clinic
enough.
Every
interaction
I
had
with
each
staff
member
was
great.
The
clinic
space
and
examination
rooms
were
always
clean
and
organized,
and
I
absolutely
loved
my
care
team.
I
will
always
and
forever
hold
SGMT
close
to
my
heart
