I went to see Kabuki for beginners. It was an excellent introduction and I really recommend. The staff at the theatre were very helpful. We used an audio device which was perfect. It was exactly in time with what was happening on stage. The performance went into how Kabuki is performed, the symbols, the skills of the actors, music and narrators. After intermission was the performance of the story. It was mesmerising.

Very nice opera theatre, every seat is a good seat.

A modern, large, impeccable facility to watch Opera, Classic, Theatre and Musicals. They show quite varied repertory of spectacles and plays. Even if you do not understand japanese, there are musical concerts that may suit your taste. They also have a lot of japanese interpretation of foreign plays. If you want for some underground, experimental theatre, I will go to Shimokitazawa. To access here, take the train until Hatsudai Station of Keio line, or it is a 15min taxi drive from Shinjuku station if you can afford it, since taxis are a bit expensive. There is also a restaurant on the 53th floor if you feel like it (but I would go instead for a small restaurant in the nearby Hatsudai commercial street).

One of Japan’s 21st Century national icons which houses “Opera Palace” and other multiple play, music, art and museum facilities, not to mention the fabulous commercial malls and top enterprises’ offices throughout the vast complex. It’s directly connected to Hatsudai Underground Station, or, you can use bus from Shinjuku Station (West exit) or your own foot (30 mins). Some premium event admissions as well as all good seats in the all theatres are very expensive, sometimes above the satisfaction from the experience to an ignorant poor downtowner like me. However, still such money needs splashed on if you have time and place for enriching life… well, I just said it to myself.

This is such a nice theatre. It's connected to the metro and very modern. The bathrooms are very crowded during intervals so you need to be strategic. Men's toilets are closed on the ground floor so walk upstairs! Also not much food choices after a performance... So eat first or find a place that's open late beforehand.

There are two restrooms for women on the lobby floor, and one is a Japanese-style toilet. Even if there was a poster, I didn't think this would happen.

A Stunning Ballet Experience at the New National Theatre in Tokyo I recently attended the Macbeth ballet at the new National Theatre in Tokyo, and it was an incredible experience. The venue is breathtaking, with beautiful surroundings. The architecture seamlessly blends modern and traditional elements. The theater hall offers excellent views and comfortable seating. The ballet performance was mesmerizing. The stage design and lighting enhanced the overall production. The acoustics were impeccable, allowing for a fully immersive experience. The staff was friendly and professional. I highly recommend this venue for a memorable evening of art and culture.

Very elegant building. Came here to see an opera, the acoustic is awesome. 🤵🏻🎻 The exteriors are really beautiful, with the pool in the middle. Make sure to prepare foods as every food places near and inside the Opera will be crowded during breaks time (there are konbinis, supermarket, bakery and cafes in Tokyo Opera City)

Before visiting for the first time, check out other people's reviews. ・I used Shinjuku Station to go to Hatsudai Station, which is the closest station to the theater, but strictly speaking, Shinjuku Station on the Keio Line and Keio New Line are in different locations. ・There are not many places to eat and drink inside or outside the theater. I visited with understanding. Before the performance in the afternoon, I ate the rice balls I had brought with me on the bench outside to fill my stomach. I was informed that the restaurant on the third floor was closed on the day I visited (Saturday) and would be reserved for private use the next day. The cafe stand (?) inside the theater had alcohol, coffee, and small baked goods. (When I looked at everyone, I saw that some people were eating and drinking the food they had brought with them, so I wondered if that was okay.) There are two restrooms for women (one is Japanese style) in the basement (?) before entering. (*There may be others as well) As you can see in the photo, there were quite a few toilets for women in the middle theater, but the space inside the restroom was a little small and it didn't feel like you could take your time to touch up your makeup... (In that sense, it's best to go early. I think it's still good). The overall impression of the building is beautiful, but I wonder how convenient it is for customers, such as the above-mentioned dining and restroom facilities.

Fabulous NYE ballet experience. The Nutcracker was beautifully played. Great atmosphere, people and value for Money. Overall the costumes were good, the dancing was great, music was great and the interpretation surprisingly refreshing.

In February, I went to see ``A Streetcar Named Desire'' starring Erika Sawajiri. It was a very beautiful building. However, the women's restroom had a long line during breaks, which made it very difficult. I would like to see more toilets for women.

Huge auditorium and the ballet performance in the “Nutcracker” show was amazing. There’s lots of local fans of the ballet dancers and they were cheering for the dancers. We sat at level 2 row 12.

A beautiful theater combining elements of clean, modern design with a warm, traditions aesthetic inside the house. Great acoustics - surprisingly solid low-end sounds out of the pit and clear sound in all seats. It’s a nice size, too - a fairly big house that feels close and intimate. Above all, NNTT has the best staff and service of any opera house or concert hall I’ve been to anywhere in Japan, Europe, or North America. Great even by the high standards of Tokyo.

I booked a ticket to see Don Qiuxote for the first time. I got a taxi to new national from ebizu which if you don’t look ahead to verify where the main building or box office is you’ll be doing a lot of walking lol. I ended up at the right place and the receptionist was very helpful. This place is pretty big and it can get a little confusing but everyone is pretty helpful. Once I got to my seat the view was amazing as was the show! I’ll be back for more

Very modern and European looking building. The place hosts opera, ballet and theatrical performances from all around the world. Ticket prices vary from very affordable to very expensive.

This is a beautiful theatre, not to be confused with the opera city next door which hosts primarily musicals. The theatre attracts a better crowd in comparison to other halls like the sumida triphony. If you get seats in the upper balconies, bring your glasses. They are high up which may be daunting for some.

I have seen ballets in many national theaters and I think i have never seen so well the stage despite spending “low amount” ticket. The acoustic is also really good. Overall the building is well designed, highly recommended to take the chance to see a ballet there as also the national ballet is, in my opinion, currently ranking amoung top 10 companies in the world. Their swan lake was outstanding…

I happened to visit this theater for an opera performance. The opera house itself is magnifique by its architecture. The sound effects are fantastic that the singers are like performing near us. The cloakroom service is very efficient and polite. Also during intermezzo there are elegant snacks for refresh, but one needs to pay though.
