We found this absolutely fantabulous Indian restaurant in Townsville...the most gorgeous setting with the wonderful Chetan looking after us... you must come here when you are in Townsville! The dinner was delicious we ordered 3 meals with a coconut rice and garlic naan bread price was only 70-80 bucks and ordered 3 Heineken beers @9.50 each. Honestly the loveliest Indian food we've had in a long time...we plan on making this our outing as the setting is magnificent with the wonderful Townsville balmy weather so you can sit outside which is my preferred. Thankyou again Masala and Chetan for a most remembered evening.

Fantastic food and service. I asked for a super spicy beef dish, told them not to shy away from the heat and "impress me". They gave me "HEAT LEVEL x 4", which was absolutely perfect. Most restaurants give you spicy food that barely tingles your tongue, but this particular restaurant was 10/10 spot on. I also enjoyed the food so much that I kept ordering more, they kept an eye on me incase my drink was gone and they indeed filled everything up without having to get up & ask for more. Superb experience, spending money at this place is irrelevant because the experience of exquisite food will take you on a journey that is priceless.

Sensational, I’d walked past this place on my previous trips to Townsville and was glad I finally stopped in. I was quickly attended to and shown a table i my arrival and asked for a recommendation based on some meals I enjoyed on a previous trip to India. I opted for the Kadhai Chicken, med to hot, with some naan bread and it was excellent. The owned checked I was enjoying my meal and I assured him without doubt on my future trips I’d be back. Can’t speak highly enough of the food and my experience.

Hi there, went there today with my wife and daughter. I read the bad reviews. Well, we had butter chicken, Naan, Wine etc. Was very easy to book a table. Service was quick, but very friendly. Food came in a proper time frame ( I don't get why people complain when it takes some time to prepare, you are NOT at Maccas) Food was just right, not too hot nor cold. It looked and tasted very fresh and yummy. So good that I even asked to see the chef, and tip him $10, and the waiter as well. We can highly recommend this restaurant. Will be back soon. Bernie

The staff were so friendly that I started to enjoy myself before the beautiful food arrived. I had onion bhaji for entree - it was perfect. Then mild butter chicken and coconut rice. I wanted to finish it but I just couldn’t fit it in. I highly recommend

Order pick-up via menu log. Restaurant looked nice inside and staff were very friendly and food ready on time. Food was great. Had two curries (lamb and veg) large rice, samosas and naans and was enough for two of us to have it for lunch the following day. Would use again if in Townsville

I have been to Masala every time I come to Townsville and it always it 5 star. I have never had a bad meal and the service is always excellent.

If I could I would kiss the chef. I swear they must use magic to make the food taste this good. That’s twice I have eaten here, and both meals have been the best Indian food I have ever tasted, and some of the best food I have ever tasted in my life. I’ve tried the Butter Chicken and the Goat Curry, and as soon as the food was bought out in front of me I start to salivate because the smell of the spices is so delicious!!! 😋 It’s the sort of food that you just want to take your time eating as each mouthful is a flavour sensation that just lingers on your taste buds. This isn’t just food it’s made with love and care and is the perfect place to take your family and friends to enjoy a wonderful meal together. I will certainly be back next time I visit Townsville. My compliments to the chef and staff. 🙏👍❤️

Updated review from last night. Have you ever been looking forward to a return meal to be disappointed. That was our meal last night. The Rogan Josh lacked flavour and heat. The Biryani chicken was dry and lifeless in flavour. The rice that should be full of flavour after being slow cooked with the chicken was not nice to the palate at all. My cheese and garlic naan was oily. To be completely honest, it was underwhelming and my last meal here. Very nice food, and the wait staff were extremely attentive, making sure we were looked after at all times.

Ordered take away and it was our first time here. The restaurant looked really good, clean and a great ambience. The one at the reception was also great who helped suggest me order. The food looked yummy and we were really excited to taste it but unfortunately there was no salt at all, literally nothing in Mansori kebab and tandoori chicken. I believe and hope its not always the same. Goat curry and Garlic naan were good 👍but we did not enjoy it as the sides were a disappointment. Mint chutney was also a fail. I did not even get a pinch of mint taste. It was only yogurt and sugary with just green color which looked like mint chutney. We would still try ordering food here again to make sure it's not always the same. Wanted to give a 3 star but don't want to be harsh. Cheers

This is always our go to restaurant when travelling to, or through Townsville! We are English/ Australian citizens and have lived in Australia 20 years now! Went here for a work party. This place is amazing! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great and the staff were kind and very welcoming. I left after eating way too much and feeling great! Will recommend this restaurant to everyone I know.

I can’t believe that I’m writing a review for an Indian restaurant. Is this the food for the amount of $44, extremely disappointed by the way customers are getting treated when it comes to Indian restaurants in townsville. Never ordering back, like never again.

This is the best indian restaurant in Townsville! They are outstanding in quality, flavours and presentation of the food, Acceptable wait time. Their new premises ( about a year now) is roomy, comfortable and has a great bar. While Palmer Street itself has limited parking, they have a whole empty block for parking at the rear, with entry via rear doors. Customer service is pleasant, respectful and fast. Prices for this quality food is reasonable, and the variety on menu is vast. Warning:... Addictive

In Townsville for a week on business, had dinner here on my first night, and went back every night for dinner, the food is fabulous and the staff are friendly and professional, they had vegan opinions and were very accommodating when I requested a few additional ingredients to my meal, I will be back next time I am in Townsville, I highly recommend Masala to anyone, if you live in or near Townsville this place is a must visit once a week five gold stars.

I came to this restaurant first time with my work colleague who is from England and fond of Asian Food. Food flavour was good, I ordered Samosa, Onion Bhaaji, Daal Fry, Chicken Karahi, Raita, Roti, Kulfi and Gulaab Jamun. Some of the best food ive eaten in a long time. I struggle with a low appetite especially lately so I needed some good food into me. Got this tonight and I was able to lick my plate clean and go back for seconds! I usually can't even finish a single portion of food. This food is so good, it deserves 6 staars

Overall Food was good, service prompt flavour was good too. Restaurant experience by hosts very welcoming. Our only miss however - We did ask for medium heat and our serving was quite mild. Perhaps we could have been clearer that we prefer hotter rather milder. But for that we'd rate 4. 5 stars

This is seriously the best, most authentic, Indian food I have experienced since being in India. Staff very friendly and the service was great. We had chicken masala, palak paneer, samosa and sweet naan. Amazing.

Best Butter Chicken in Townsville. (We have tried nearly all in Townsville and we have tried Butter Chicken recipes around QLD and NSW). Only thing is the naan bread isn’t our favourite but still amazing! Best service and very clean beautiful restaurant! Will be going back!

Very very disappointed! Service was cold and uninviting and the food was boring at best. I ordered the chicken tika Masala and when it finally came, I struggled to find any actual chicken in the mountains of onion and capsicum it came with. It was also cold and completely tasteless. I do NOT recommend this restaurant if you are used to quality Indian food.

There were two of us and we ordered butter chicken, channa masala, cheese & spinach Naan, 2 garlic naan, and rice. Zero complaints at all. Everything was outstanding. We cook and eat alot of Indian food and would definitely recommend this place. If I wanted Indian again in Townsville I would go straight back here and not try anywhere else. Naans were a very good size too and delicious.

4 years ago we stumbled across Masala and fell in love with the food. We had to return when we visited Townsville, the food was AMAZING! The service is so great, the new restaurant is stunning. Well worth the trip and we will 1000% be back! We think this place serves the BEST INDIAN IN AUSTRALIA! 😍
