Always one of our first choices when we want to be close to our house. Nice play area and many courts to play. My little boy loves the ride with the train!

Lovely park lost a star because the bin was overflowing. It’s right next to the canal the car park so please please keep your dogs and children especially young children close to you and dogs on a lead because you could blink and they will be in the canal !!! You can see in my pictures where the car is the white car and behind the bushes that you can get through as there are openings just how close you are to the water. So please please be careful 🙏 It’s very nice for toddlers with their own gated area. Then if you walk around the back of the park there is another play area for older children with swings etc. will come back and write more soon.

An excellent large and well kept park with numerous facilities for football and bowling. There is a miniature railway around the park with frequently running little trains. A beautiful wild garden full of glorious flowers, children's play area and the park itself is near to a tram stop and the Bridgewater Canal where a barge serves coffee and light refreshments. Two car parks and overall a very pleasant visit with lots of picnic benches and other seating. Delightful.

The park is looked after very well by the friends of walton park. There are toilets, but they're not always open. Good sized field to play football, 2 x tennis courts, small children's play area and an older children's play area. On a Sunday the trains are running, this is always ran very well. When the weather is good, there is a barge on the side of the canal selling coffee and snacks. Also an icecream truck visits the park in good weather.

I recently visited Walton Park for a day of family and friends fun, and it turned out to be a delightful experience. The park offered a wide range of amenities that catered to various interests. One of the highlights of the park was its well-maintained playground. It was thoughtfully divided into sections, ensuring that children of all ages could have a great time. The play area for toddlers was perfect for the little ones to explore and play safely, while the separate play area for older kids provided an engaging space for them to run, climb, and have fun. Sports enthusiasts had their share of excitement too. The tennis and basketball courts were in excellent condition, and what I particularly liked was the flexibility to use the same court for 5-a-side football. We even tried our hand at cricket, although it might not have been the intended use for the space. The only downside was that the toilets were closed during our visit, which was a bit inconvenient, hopefully this might have been a temporary issue. For those looking for a quieter experience, the peaceful walk by the canal adjacent to the park was a serene escape from the playground's energy. Additionally, the small train ride available on Sundays added an extra layer of excitement for the kids. One minor suggestion would be to add more slides to the kids' play area. After a while, my children did start to get a bit bored, and a few additional play elements could have kept them entertained for longer. All in all, our visit to Walton Park was a pleasant one. It's a well-rounded destination for families, sports enthusiasts, and those seeking a tranquil walk by the water. With a few minor improvements, it could become an even more attractive spot for a day of outdoor enjoyment.

I was taking a lovely walk through the woods as usual, but today i saw this strange creature on the way. I got a picture of it, but i'm not sure what the flip it is. I think someone should check it out, i think it might be a rat of some sort

This is a lovely little park being well maintained by the Friends of Walton Park. Great to see that there's a barge moored up on the canal next to the park which sells a variety of drinks and food

Fantastic park for families, picnic benches, miniature train rides, tenis court, football pitch, toilet facilities, Walton Perk cafe boat and an artisan gift boat shop, Crafted On Board.

  • 5/5 Nidhi T. 1 year ago on Google
Very good park with a lovely community. It needs some refurbishment currently for equipment but otherwise very friendly atmosphere there. It is on side of the canal so kids can have a good view of the canal side, a nice picnic area and also sometimes a refreshment boat service present there for ordering food and hot drinks. There is a toilet facility available as well on busy summer days. Every Saturday there is a train ride for kids. I think that is the most unique part of this park. This park organises fairs and events on regular basis.

Nice little park with a bowling green, kiddies play area. On Sundays there is the SAMES model Loco train rides.

Grandkids love the train rides. Decent park equipment for them as well. Plenty of seating. Smaller park than some but plenty of everything. Friends of Walton Park arrange events throughout the year.

Good little park, nice walk for a dog. There's a children's play area and a mini train which is great fun. Also a new barge cafe opened where you're able to get a nice hot drink :)

If you have little kiddies - the railway on Sunday afternoons is brilliant

great for a lockdown break . scenic walk down the canal , then access the park. Great green open space with some fine trees including a stunning cherry blossom .Unfortunately the scale model rail circuit is not operating at the moment due to CV19 restrictions .

Brilliantly run model railway every Sunday afternoon (30p per ticket). Medium sized play ground, tennis and basketball courts as well as a barge on the canal selling hot drinks. Great place for a couple of hours fun with the family.

Great place to visit. There is also the Walton Perk cafe boat and Crafted on Board artisan gift boat on the canal right at the side of the park. Lots to see and do.

A municipal park with multiple facilities for recreation and relaxation. The most useful park in Sale. Well worth a visit.

  • 5/5 Saj v. 10 months ago on Google
Love this place because of two reasons. One is a beautiful park near Kanal side , with children's play area , tennis court and football court . Second and most unique is there is a toy train which is the actual miniature of the steam engine . Amazing people who are proud of the heritage and welcoming . The train is only till ,3 PM or something. Keep some coins for the ride . Both kids and elders will enjoy it. You can find parking also

Everglade Marshlands is a unique ecosystem to explore. The boardwalks and observation decks allow for a close-up look at the diverse wildlife and vegetation. The guided tours provide insightful information about this delicate habitat.

It's a place every family member can enjoy, whether playing on the playgrounds or taking a walk down the canal. A great day out for everyone.

  • 5/5 Helen W. 1 year ago on Google
Nice Park, very well looked after. Has a miniature train that goes around the park. Baby park and bigger park. Toilets which is a bonus. Although I haven't seen them open yet. Fab boat cafe on the canal.

  • 4/5 Channy30 11 months ago on Google
Very nice little park for toddlers and older kids. One thing that's annoying is people let the dogs off leads (which is fine) buy when your dog is wondering off to other dogs, where you can't see it it's not fair.

  • 4/5 Antony Y. 1 year ago on Google
Nice little park, didn't really explore fully but a nice variety of playground equipment. Could see there's a railway track that goes round the park. Toilets on site, cafe as well, but didn't visit.

  • 4/5 S D. 1 year ago on Google
Nice local park, with small steam train some days, and check out the canal, where there is often a canal boat selling coffees and much else.

Only went to view the new memorial plaque for the war plane crash which was very good. Had a quick walk round as it was raining but seems a nice park with a model railway track not sure when it is used.

Love it great place to take kids to train rides on sunday canal path walk or just let them loose in the park great grounds and tennis courts toddler area and cafe on canal.

  • 1/5 Sadia K. 1 year ago on Google
Good surroundings but seriously lacked lustre. The park needs a major layout rethink and the play areas some major refurbishment as every thing is falling apart. I'm local to Sale but this was my first time visit here with my 8 and 15 year old who found it pretty mundane and boring.

  • 3/5 Will G. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely park and the train is cool but loes 2 stars (my 10yo option) due to how poor the play area is for children his age. Lots of stuff (in fact 2 play areas) for younger children but slightly older children the equipment is missing

  • 5/5 Andy R. 1 year ago on Google
Excellent park, plenty of free parking, miniature live steam train, very reasonable fare, large playground, a smaller one for tots, gardens, playing fields, next to the canal.

A great park. Lots of space and miniature steam trains on a Sunday that provide rides around the track for 20p but not at the moment due to Covid 😕 play equipment could be better but tennis and basketball courts and two Crown Green bowling lawns.

The best park in the area for local residents and visitors to enjoy all the available amenities - from 2 kids playgrounds to tennis, basketball, football areas. Besides that there still loads of space for picnics, dog walks, squirrel chases.

Nice clean place with decent play areas, basketball courts and open spaces. There's also a cafe narrowboat with super friendly service on weekends with a great hot and cold selection of foods and drinks AND bacon butties 👍😁 what more do you need for a day at the park...

A well cared for park that's popular with families. Miniature railway is worth a visit, but check for current running during Covid restrictions Well designed play areas and lovely flower beds cared for by the Friends of Walton Park. Thanks for all your hard work!

  • 5/5 Michael C. 3 years ago on Google
Walton Park has 2 tennis courts, a basketball court, and a marked football pitch. All are open to the public. There is also a miniature railway which operates on Sundays that children and their parents enjoy riding on. On weekends on the adjacent Bridgewater Canal, there is a narrow boat that sells coffee and vegan cakes under the name 'Walton Perks'. The Park's grounds are well maintained by the council with help from the 'Friends of Walton Park'. Dog walkers are welcome as long as their dog is well behaved and they clean up after their pooch in the provided bins.

  • 4/5 Viki R. 3 years ago on Google
Nice playground area. There's a miniature train that runs during normal times (not during lockdown restrictions) which is great fun for children.

It is always fun to go to Walton park. Love this park. It's quiet big compared to many other park. It has tennis court, kids playground, baby playground. Waking trails. Also being near to the canal stream one can go for walks near the canal too. It is popular with locals. Must visit

  • 3/5 Charlotte J. 3 years ago on Google
It's absolutely fantastic but it needs more love. The play stations are too old and need updating. I hope they get government funding or local businesses or residents to help out!!! Much needed for the local community 😊

  • 3/5 Jon T. 3 years ago on Google
There are better playgrounds in Sale (Moor Nook or Newton Park), better places for picnics (Worthington Park or Walkden Gardens), better places for a kick about (Beech Fields). None of those have a railway though...
