We absolutely loved it! The food was unbelievable and the price/quality ratio us really good (£40 for two people with 2 pints). The restaurant is always quite busy and the atmosphere is lively without being too loud. I highly recommend booking as you might not find a free table. I will definitely be going back soon!

The name of this restaurant is very apt... And I can certainly endorse all of the 'Great' elements. All of our food was amazing. The portion sizes are good value for money, and the staff are very friendly! The atmosphere was bustling - which can be rare to find on a Wednesday night in some restaurants. The menu was extremely varied, including options for every diet/lifestyle. I wouldn't hesitate recommending The Great Kathmandu to any of my friends. Go and check it out for yourself!

Very happy for the night out in this lovely place. The food just beautiful! if you love spicy you have to try 😋 the elder owner (not sure if he is the owner but seems like) walked to each table to make sure the customer are satisfied👍🏻 This genuinely caring definitely deserve 5 stars

Amazing food and service. Easy to see why they have won so many awards from national competitions. Family run and very community focused. Very tasty, well presented meals. So good to experience Nepalese food. The chef's special TANDOORI CHICKEN SHAK-SHU-KA (METHI) is delicious, The LAMB KARAHI and the peswari nan were very taste. Very popular even early evening. Will definitely be back.

Travelled from Liverpool with my son to try this restaurant on a recommendation and absolutely loved it! The decor, friendliness, atmosphere and of course the food were all fantastic. Our lovely waiter told us all about the history of the restaurant and the area and really made a fuss of us when we told him how far we had travelled. We will definitely be back!

Probably the best curry I've had in years! So good so, that I spent the whole of the next day thinking about it! Just spectacular! The service was very friendly and the prices were reasonable. I would highly recommend to anyone in the area.

Visited for Christmas eve with my parents. The food was delicious. Especially enjoyed the lamb tikka masalla and the poppadoms. Great touch to get Christmas Cracker's and lovely to see a family run place.

Hands down some of the best food I’ve had since moving to Manchester a couple of years ago. The atmosphere is great, the place is busy and staff are exceptional. The restaurant has been operating for a long time, so they do what they do incredibly well, we shared several different courses which were all a massive step up from usual fare. Some really super Nepali dishes which were a revelation to me, you have to try Momos!!

Banging vegan food. As a large party we were served rapidly and the food was very tasty. Nice atmosphere and it was busy with locals which is a good sign as a visitor.

Been wanting to go here for ages and it's worth the hype. Extremely efficient service and a great selection on the menu. Nice to try something different from the usual. House lager was nice. Tried a selection of the chefs specials, can't remember the names now, but all very tasty

I’ve been here once or twice before. Booked for a table of 4 a week in advance, ourselves and friends really enjoyed the amazing food and value for money. One of the best Nepalese Restaurants around. Keep up the good work, धन्यवाद

Good staff but really poor food: for starters, we ordered chicken momos/dimsums and lamb chaela(recommended by the guy serving us). The lamb was raw/uncooked from inside, while the momos/dimsums had very thick covering and were flavourless at best. Decided to skip ordering main course as their service was quite slow and this order took over 30 minutes to be served. I must say that the lady managing the restaurant was very polite and tried her best to provide good service, so 1 star at max. Not meant for Indian palate.

This is a proper curry house. The staff are welcoming and absolutely lovely. Service is first class...the curries are amazing. Chicken is tender and perfectly cooked as it should be. I went for timmy massala but don't expect your run of the mill curry as there is a kick. So yummy and a proper curry

The sauces were beautifully judged, the meats were clearly good quality, no gristle, and cooked just right. A great meal out for a treat.

ARGUABLY THE BEST PESHWARI NAN EVER ! We dined at 6pm so it was still pretty quiet. We got a warm welcome, a choice of tables, our water and drinks arrived quickly, and service was generally good. Our food was freshly cooked, good portions and delicious but there was no taste or visible evidence of charcoal cooking, on the chicken and lamb tandoori. It's still worth a visit for you to try yourself, especially if you're going to order a PESHWARI ❣️

The menu is quite confusing. I like spicy food. i had chilie chicken as a starter, but it was a main size portion. It was nice and spicy. I then opted for KHORSANI CHICKEN described as a dish not for the faint hearted. A hot dish of chicken pieces ... (exceptionally hot!!) This was not very spicy at all - disappointing. The bottled Nepalese beer was nice

This was £38.48 delivered on Uber Eats…. £35 without the delivery fees. It has to be the second worst value meal I’ve ever had. 2 Pappadums £2.70… Small and tasty but never that price for 2. Makhan Chara (Award Winning Dish) - £15.50! Insanely priced and bang average. 6 pieces of chicken (which did taste fresh) in a creamy tomato soup sauce. Never seen smaller packaging for a curry. Onion Pakora Bhaji (4 Pieces) - £6.55 Reasonably tasty at a push, but the size of gobstoppers or a falafel and the most I’ve ever paid for some. Criminal pricing. Kathmandu Special Naan - £4.35 Well made and good quality, I can appreciate what they’re doing but I was hoping for it to be tastier. Mango Chutney - £1.95 Same as anywhere else except very expensive. Pilau Rice - £4.35 The rice was nice and probably some of the freshest rice I’ve had from an Indian. I was massively disappointed by this food. It’s an expensive place so I thought I would try it for delivery on the spur of the moment. Glad I never went for a full sit down meal here like I had planned to.

First time here last night. Was on a Christmas party. Looking forward to this as had heard great things. We arrived and was taken to our table. Given menus and asked for our drinks order we we gave. Not 2 minutes after sitting down, a grumpy old waiter came over and asked what we wanted. We asked if we could have a few more minutes to choose. Literally 2 minutes later, he came back. Very rudely, without even looking at us, said we had to order now and hurry up because they were busy. Never had this attitude before in any restaurant. I didn't have any chance to look through the menu. We were all rather taken aback by his attitude. We ordered. We had to! Our drinks arrived 5 minutes later. Food arrived soon after and was very nice. I'm afraid I wouldn't come back here purely because of the unprofessional and rude service we received.

Nice restaurant but pricey. I had a vinderloo the meat was very nice and sauce was tasty but very little spice.

What can you say about the Great Katmandu. It has won best curry house in Britain twice. I'm amazed it hasn't won more often. It's a slick well run restaurant with a beautiful menu.

Poor experience- having menus and plates literally thrown at one doesn't exactly make one feel welcome! Food mediocre- just another high street Indian/Nepalese restaurant. Regarding all those awards - well, that industry marks its own homework, so make what you will of it!

The food is good - tasty and spicy. However, the service is bordering on just rude. We were served by multiple waiters and some of them practically threw the dishes across the table. The atmosphere and decor is circa 1996. I don't care how many awards it's won, it's not a good restaurant...

As a Nepali, I'd say this is one of the worst Nepalese restaurants I've been in the UK. Only 3/4 dishes were Nepali and the rest were Indian. Nothing against Indian food, I like them, but the balance was not there when you call yourselves, The Great Kathmandu. The plates were small and naans were literally mopping the table when served.

Great Nepalese restaurant. My favourite now that the Gurkha Grill has closed. Excellent selection of dishes, my current favourite being the Chandan Dry Fry - really tasty!

Came here with family in Manchester. They eat here often. The MOMO are phenomenal and my mutton vindaloo was excellent. Would definitely eat here again

This is the worst Nepalese food i have ever had in my life. I came here searching for a good authentic nepalese food but they gave worse food ever. The guy who took our order disrespected my kids, they were slow and taking time and which is understandable as they are kids, he was rushing them, they did not even get chance to select spicy level and they gave spicy food to kids and kids could not eat well. They got water along with food. Please do not go to this place for authentic Nepalese food. The guy who took our order he did not want to listen but he appeared arrogant and disrespectful. The table was not cleaned, they did not even ask how the food was. Rice looked like it was cooked yesterday. Portions were very very small. This is the worst nepalese food i have ever ate as Nepali because i know what is good and bad Nepalese food is. Such a poor service and terrible food in general. Please do not try this restaurant if anyone is looking for a good authentic Nepalese food, you will be disappointed.

👍👍 I was craving curry during my stay in Manchester. And Google suggested this place to me. It's in the centre, almost 6 minutes away from my hotel. The interior design is very hip and it has a great vibe. The music that is being played is modern. The curry was amazing. And the prices were perfect for...
