uuumm, listen, this is a waste of time. It’s ugly. It’s not taken care of there’s not many flamingos there, trash is everywhere, there are no beautiful views, end of story. Everywhere you go in this park you can hear the cars on the highway, you cannot escape the urbanization of this town anywhere. I brought a camera with me and I haven’t taken a single shot because everything is ugly - it’s like somebody build a prison or some kind of concentration camps everywhere because of the wires around the entire park and the weird structures that were left here from the 60s it’s really really not pleasant. It doesn’t give the vibe of the nature at all. You still feel like you’re in some kind of movie (not a good one) it’s just left alone to be whatever it is and nobody cleans it nobody is taking care of the plants nobody is taking care of the roads. The way here is super long from the city center- if you don’t have a car it’s very painful and, the cars literally driving through the park all the time and people seem to be OK with it, which seems weird to me. The information center of the park looks like a concentration camp left abandoned and even though the park opens at 6:30 AM the information center with all the bikes you need to ride opens at 9 AM. And the cherry on top - there are very few flamingos here (we came in August) I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PARK OR CALGIARI AT ALL.

Before I visited I read most of the reviews here. I must say immediately that I loved my very long walk around the park as I love Biology and stop to admire not only birds but also flora and fauna. We arrived at the park by taking the PF bus from piazza Matteotti. If you are staying at T Hotel there's bus 3 that stops you a 10 minutes walk away from the park. There are 3 options. €15 per person if you want to take the minibus with a local guide that can take you in all the places and explain to you. You can also hire a bike. I opted to take the 3 hours walk. I saw not only Flamingoes in the park but I also saw 4 flying ahead. I also saw ducks, cormorants, black wing stilts, moorehen, common sand Piper, collar doves, sea gulls, hooded crows, jack dows, and starlings. The walk is free of charge. I really enjoyed it and recommend it for nature lovers, but other people might find nothing special or interesting for them.

Lovely urban wetland where you can get close to authentic nature. Hire a bike for a fair fee (c. €4 per hour) and enjoy the tranquility and the joy of thriving wildlife and beautiful views (Note to the reviewer below: nature is not like Disneyland. The joy is in glimpses of it thriving; it will not always put on an Instagram-friendly song and dance show) Free entry but very knowledgeable lady at the reception if you pass by there. Combine with a visit t’importai beach for a great day out.

Read some reviews from ignorant people who says the park is not well-maintained; people should read about the history of the place and how it became as it is today. It is NOT a Zoo or a botanical garden. It’s a wetland and old salt mine. Anyway, I’d recommend taking a guided tour in the buggy or rent bikes at the Infopoint. It is not possible to get very close to the flamingos, which is fine, but do yourself a favor and do a reality- and expectation check before going, or you might expect to be very disappointed. For me, it was amazing to experience flamingoes in Europe in the wild and not just in Africa.

Absolutely gorgeous. We took a bike and went around the lake, it was fantastic. Very few people so you can enjoy the nature and its calmness.

At this time of the year there’s not much flamingo left plus you have to walk like 15 to 20 minutes from the bus stop to the parc. Plus you have to bring your picnic otherwise there is no restaurant to eat.

Free entry attraction, it is not really a park but a walkway around the 2 lakes and across the ruins of what I think are the remaining of the old salt extraction facilities, it is not maintained but the colour of lakes a pale green is amazing as well as the birds.

Boat tour: Pointless, Painful and a waste of 2 hours and 30 euros. We took the official boat tour of the Parco Naturale Molentargius-Saline. The primary issues were: 1. no visibility of the surface of the salt basins from the boat - surely the point of the boat tour? (photos attached) 2. absence of protection from the full mid-day sun (photo attached) The secondary issues were concerning the captain of our tour. We may have been unlucky. Another captain may have been excellent. 3. Safety issue when disembarking. 4. Bad allocation of seating when boarding. 1. No visibility: When sitting down (as required) in the boat the salt basins are simply not visible (apart from one place). There are views of the embankment, weeds and shrubs. Walking, cycling or taking the e-bus provides views of the basins. Even the municipal PF / PQ bus running along the coastal roads provides views. What is the point of the boat tour if you do not see the basins and the wildlife feeding on the basins? 2. Mid-day sun: The boat had no cover from the full mid-day sun. My wife and I were starting to suffer from sunburn even though we were wearing hats and had applied 50 factor sunscreen. A young child on the boat was in difficulty with the sun and heat. 3. Poor safety: The last, but not least, concern was safety. As the young child was disembarking from the side of the boat, the boat drifted away from the dockside with a gap of about 30 cms opening up at the point of disembarkation. For a few moments she was in a precarious position especially with nobody on the dockside to assist her. 4. Allocation of Seating: The seating was strictly allocated by the skipper when boarding. 11 passengers for 11 seats - sounds simple. 9 Italian speaking passengers were allocated to the 9 best seats first. We were allocated one seat on a 3 seater bench next to another couple - so no social distancing there. I was given the option of sitting on the storage box (visible in the photo) which I eventually moved to. The 11th seat by that time had been taken by a lady who preferred it to her rearward facing view, allowing her partner to spread out across two seats. The winners in this saga were the people who were turned away from the boat tour as it was fully booked. They will have seen much more than we did and still have their money in their pockets to fund the e-bus or bikes or simply enjoy the walking.

Das Allerletzte! Sieht aus wie am Schrottplatz! Nichts hergerichtet, alles total verwildert. 👎

Very interesting environment of disused salt mine which has been inhabited by flamingos! There’s not a lot in the way of information about the mine or the flamingos which I think could be improved. But if you read up on it before hand it’s easy to appreciate. There’s an option to rent a bike and cycle around the park which I recommend. You can get to the flamingos and back within 1hr. There’s also a small cafe and toilets in the visitor center.

If you happen to be in the area, I would definitely visit. It’s kind of a weird place but with a certain charm. There is no entrance fee (though you can rent bikes or get various guided tours for an expanded experience) so you can just drop by briefly to visit the flamingos, no need to spend hours exploring the park. I wouldn’t come specifically for this though from a distance. There are only a handful of flamingos and at quite a distance (though still really cool to see in the wild!). There are many other places to see them in Sardinia so if that’s your main reason, just pick a place closest to you rather than coming here. I did enjoy the experience though and really like the surrounding architecture many seem to be complaining about - it makes it unique to see the wildlife in such an urban setting. Edit: since I stayed in the neighbourhood, I came back another time and I would suggest if you’re by car and don’t have luck with flamingos, might be worth driving to a different entrance. You also have a higher chance of seeing various birds in early evening (or morning) than middle of the day. And it’s probably worth it to get a bike or a guided tour. There is so much more to see than what I managed on foot. If you’re bothered by the buildings in the background at this entrance, explore the park further. There are many far more scenic spots.

It may be a good place to visit on bike and only if your main goal is to go for a ride. If you're looking for flamingos and other animals or at least for a nice landscape, don't waste your time here. The entrance is free and maybe that's the reason for the place to be in such a bad shape.

Sehr enttäuschend. Alles verwildert.

This is a great place to visit in the morning, or late in the evening, along with the adjoining Il Parco delle Emozioni. During the day, especially in the hot summers of Cagliari, the intense sun will drain your energy fast. There are a few trees, but they do not provide enough shade to allow you to have a long hike. But a better reason to visit early or late are the pink flamingos who prefer cooler mornings and fresher evenings.

we spend almost 3 hrs drive to arrive this place and it happens to be that the last tour ends at 5 pm, and there isn't any written notifications on office entrance door, renting a bike is 5 euro per person. besides, it can be not called a natural park. there are very few birds ( the famous flamengos) you can see from very far distance, the park is located at suburban and seems like an industrial zone, we are quite disappointed, if you like biking. you could just try biking trails. hope you can enjoy.

It really worth the guide tour by electric ‘bus’. Even if the bike plan sounds good you can really see more with the tour.

I don’t recommend this place , especially when you are with children. The place seems to bo abandoned , ( and yeah I know it’s not a zoo or a place made for animals to stay ) , the is trash everywhere and also just large metal buildings that aren’t in use literally are mostly fallen in the water , but the main problem is , if you don’t take a map and still don’t understand how to get to these flamingos ( I have seen just ~9-10 of them ) the are no signs for you . There is no place to eat or buy a water , no place to hide from sun and there are just few exits that are really far away . Unfortunately I haven’t seen nothing special and had higher expectations before entering this park , that really can’t be called park of nature.

Traveled here with my husband and three kids to do bike trip around the lake after reading very positive reviews however upon arrival we were informed the bike hire was not possible at this time as a new contract business was about to take over. Pity the website was not updated with this information.

No flamingo, nothing special to see, dirty place fully exposed in the sun. Not worth stopping at.

No much ways to walk around, difficult to see any flamingos, park area seems to be not very taken care of.

The most interesting part is to watch flamingos from the bird-watching-tower. However i found it very hard to get any information about the park or point of interest. If you are nearby its worth a visit, but don’t calculate too much time for it.

Loved the wide open space…..and the walking paths…..didn’t see as many flamingos as I thought I would. I’ll go back and explore some more…so don’t discount it….WWII structures will last a thousand years….I packed a lunch

Seeing flamingos in their natural habitat is a marvel. Not to mention all the other great things at the park that I couldn't see in time. I'm definitely going again! Bring a picnic and spend the day there, it's pretty magical.

We visited the park yesterday first by bicycle then with the small train. Since our group of 4 all love bird watching it was an amazing experience for us. Not only did we see flamingoes in the ponds but also in flight. We also saw numerous other birds. Thanks to Michele our guide, for such a great job in explaining the different areas and birds. Thank you all

Very nice, it’s a long walk but with bike or step it’s a beautiful experience. I have an brace on my knee but they allowed us to use our electric steps. We saw the flamingos nearby and the park itself is beautiful. I recommend going

Huge park, need renovation and cleanup. Bring telelens or binoculars if you want to see flamingos

Nice try but there weren’t a lot of flamingos. We had a nice walk though.

Nice place but the information about directions could not be more misleading. Worth visiting to see flamingos (not in great numbers) but was not impressed by the views.

  • 2/5 Iris J. 2 years ago on Google
Unfortunately the tour was held in italian so I couldn‘t understand what was explained to us. The Parc is nice but you can only see the Flamingos from far away. All in all not really what I expected, I wouldn‘t recommend it if you don‘t speak italian.

Ok so for a tourist honestly there is not much to see. We rented bikes and went through it but it was just sad so we ended up going to the beach side and biking there which was very nice. There was a spot where we could see "the white sea" as I call it (salt) and some random flamingos but from very far away. Maybe the guided tour would have been better since they are allowed in the birds nesting zone of the parc which we couldn't really see. In short this would definitely not be the first attraction I would advise a tourist to do.

  • 5/5 Michał K. 2 years ago on Google
If you like history or animals, I'd say this is mandatory visit. To see the flamingos from up close you have to take an eco-safari tour, which I do recommend. The guide was great, and so the things we saw. They also make great drinks at the information center :D

Beautiful park, interesting for hiking, walking or just a little physical activity. Very impressive, beautiful in the cool of the morning or at sunset during the evening. I recommend to visit it at least once in a lifetime.
