Nice place to be social with staff and other guests, laid back atmosphere with rasta vibes. Owner fixes stuff for you, like scooter etc. or food delivery at lower prices without commission, and recommends things to see if you ask. Very nice people! Beach a few steps away. Good beds, fan and shower, shared kitchen with coffee. Shop around the corner. If you need a real western coffee there is a place with a real machine and espresso beans in the same street nearby. If you want a small party in a social area this is definitely a hostel to visit, and you are likely to meet other travelers also in low season. Recommended!

I had a wonderful experience staying at Wanderers hostel! The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the facilities were clean and comfortable. The location is also great - very central and within walking distance to many beautiful places. Also we did our best snorkeling with blue whales at Trincomalee diving center. These staffs are professional with highly knowledgeable of gps location system and weather forecasting. We went with the boat (fun ride!)100 km far away to a quiet place on the shore. Also saw lot of dolphin, whales and turtle. Highly recommend!

Chill vibes for few days and great location must say + evening sunset is a must just around t corner from t hostel , my time haven’t felt passing by so fast definitely a go back 🌍⚓️ Beach is just magical + must say the pigeon island snorkel 🤿 swimming with very chill sharks and turtles 🐢 not only that BIG TIME DIVING destination ✌️⚓️SHIVA TEMPLE is a must too if u really wanna go back to the roots of t town + don’t forget to pet the spotted deers 🦌 all around t temple ! The best hostel in the area! Have stayed here for a couple of times (2020 & 2022) and can't wait to come back again. The location is amazing — super close to the beach, shops and restaurants — and the vibe is always great at the hostel. Have met loads of great people here.

Amazing hostel! Dorm and en-suite bathrooms were super clean. Really friendly staff who can help you with literally anything you need. Location is great, 3 minutes walk from the beach and there’s lots of restaurants nearby. There’s a small kitchen area you can use to cook food and also a fridge. The lagoon is less than a minute walk away and I borrowed a yoga mat so I could do yoga in the mornings on the platform they built there. Really social place with chill out area with hammocks and fans. One of the best hostels I’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka, love this place and highly recommend it. Thanks so much guys!!

I stayed at this hostel a few years ago and I loved it! The owner is very friendly and helpful and he made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. The vibe at this hostel was amazing, everyone got along really well and we spent lots of time together. There’s lots of things to do nearby, restaurants, beach, snorkeling… I hope I can visit this place again some day!

Cozy place with a very open-minded and friendly owner. Coffee, tea, and 2 bikes are free. Location is perfect, close to the beach and nice restaurants. The AC dorm was the best for us, as is got really hot these days. We kept extending our stay because we didn't want to leave!

We had a very unpleasant experience which is why we left earlier. The owner didn't like a comment I made and reacted aggressively and antisocially. He became loud and angry. The situation was extremely unpleasant. I had to end the conversation. Very rude and immature behavior. He totally destroyed the vibe. Added to this was the noise of the fan at night. In short, the stay was the horror! Can not recommend this hostel in any case. 1 star goes to the nice receptionist with whom we played cards and had great conversations until the owner arrived.

I had an amazing time at wanderers hostel! The rooms were a really good price and the location was ideal, only 5 mins away from the beach and at the end of a road filled with places to eat. The owner was so so lovely and happy to help out with anything you needed, such as transport or day trips they have so much to offer!! The vibe could be chilled or abit more upbeat whatever you make of it, it was great!

I stayed with Wanderers for two weeks! They are so accommodating, warm and make you feel right at home. Anything you need they will ensure to make it happen! Great place to chill, play games and talk late into the evening. Only the best humans congregate there, you won't forget it! Highly recommend :)

It had everythin we needed! We even extended our stay by 2 nights. There were such adorable puppies, a kitchen to cook in, close to the beach, even bikes you could use for free, and very chill atmosphere. It was really difficult to leave Otis and Nira :( (the puppies)

Not so clean, private room smelt very damp. Bedsheets are exfoliating they are so rough. Holes in mosquito net, some covered with plasters. Kinda gross and no generator when the power cuts come. Almost non-existent walls. You can here people breathe. Toilet was unpleasant and could smell the drains. Owner was lovely and helpful, and hostel is in a great location hence the 2*s.

So excited this hostel is reopening! The owner is incredibly and has so many pointers on great things to do in the area. The place is super nice, big table for everyone to hang out at. Rooms and bathrooms were clean.

Amazing place to feel like home. The beach is just around the corner, the dorms have an a/c and free coffee every day. What I liked most about it was the big table in the shared area because it’s the perfect tool for socializing. I was there 2 times already and I’m definitely coming back.

Nice hostel, nice host. Free tea and coffee and small kitchen which you can use all the time! All of tut he people around around there where super kind. Also s nice place for staying. Nice beach bar around the corner.

Such a Good time in Wanderers. we spent 8days, and was awesome. because of the pandemic the host arranged our breakfast, and it was so far our best in Sri Lanka. People was super nice dans friendly, you feel like home. Thanks for everything 👌

The place does have a super location and I met super nice people there. It's easy to walk to the beach and good restaurant are nearby there

Nice and clean place. Staff is friendly. The only drawback is the rooms are built next to each other with timber planks without any additional coatings for sound proofing. You can can hear all the loud noises if the rooms next to you are occupied; might be really disturbing at night.
