We have now visited three times in a row and plan to come again! Such a lovely welcoming atmosphere from all the staff, the owner also speaks excellent English. They cater well to dietary requirements and provided excellent vegan and gluten free foods. In the evening we had a selection of veggie curries and rice, as well as develled vegetables which were amazing. For breakfast they made us vegan pancakes with fruit!

The food was good. We both had a Kottu which was tasty but to be honest we have had better food.

We negotiated a mixed seafood platter for four people that included calamari, tuna, prawns and crawfish for a reasonable price. We were all very excited about the meal but in the end it was disappointing. The prawns and tuna were pretty good but the crawfish was not at all fresh and the char from the dirty grill made it taste bitter and off-putting. You also have to walk through a portion of the kitchen to get to the bathroom and from what I could see the kitchen needs a serious cleaning. The service was slow and unenthusiastic. Not a place we will be returning.

Amo amo menna restaurant 😌 We ordered Mix Sea Food Rice for 16 people and received the best rice we had ever seen. They took the rice to the next level and we really couldn't identify it as a fried rice neither milk rice. And the ingredients were excellent, and there was only 98% of rice and 1.5% of seafood and 0.5% vegetables. However, please be careful when they share the bills because they will add more items to the bill even if we do not order them...

One of the worst restaurants you can find in Nilaveli, Trincomalee. 1. We ordered sea food rice and we got prawns with prawn heads. Food was very unpleasant looking and seemed very nasty. 2. Price was extremely high and not worth at all. 3. They are cheating big time. They said sea food rice is 800 LKR but when we checked the bill, it was 1200 LKR. Also, we bought 16 portions and 18 potions had been added to the bill + for water bottles which we didn't even use. 4. Fresh drinks are also nasty and glasses stinks. Not recommending to anyone at all!!!

I had high expectations of Nina's after reading the Google reviews. My sister and I visited on a very busy evening and were waiting a very long time for our food. The waiters did apologise for this many times. A busy restaurant did however mean a great atmosphere. I had the Sri Lankan curry, it was flavourful and enjoyable. The food is nice, not outstanding!

Food is next level, we went back again and everything just as delicious as the first time. Got the mixed seafood plate, fish was 👌👌👌 then deviled tuna & rice and curry both 🙏🙏🙏. Don’t be fooled by the humble appearance, the portions are ample, lots of the good stuff, not heavy on carbs like many traditional places. Open off season also, so good one all year around. Oh yeah also juice and lassi both yummms. 🍬🍬🍬 RECOMMEND!

Lovely food for really really good price considering other prices in the area. Can tell it's made with love, cooked very fresh and by the lovely family who own it. They even had soya milk for a smoothie, rarely found this in Sri Lanka! 10/10 food delicious. Came for breakfast and then dinner.

Food is just ok, for the quality you get it’s overpriced. Grilled calamari was far from being good. Mango lassi was good though. Regarding the atmosphere, it’s hard to enjoy anything when someone vomits behind the wall…

We were wanting a break from the rice and curry so we came to Nina for chicken burgers. Did not disappoint! They were amazing!!! They were also the best fries we had the entire trip! And the fresh juices were really good as well.

Amazing food! I can especially recommend the grilled fish which was by far the best we had in Sri Lanka. We tried a few restaurants in the area but ended up coming back here all the time in the end. The pancakes and Masala Dosa for breakfast were also great and pretty inexpensive. If you don't go for the seafood, dinner is pretty cheap with around 1000-1500 LKR but seafood is also well worth it (4500 LKR for a full fish with fries and salad, see picture)

Absolutely amazing! We are aiming to go back again tomorrow! Some of the best curries we have had in Sri Lanka! We had the veg curry buffet and crab curry - both were incredible! The crab curry was so authentic, and the veg curries were delicious! Highly highly recommended!

We ate here several times and loved the breakfast, lunch and dinner! We can recommend the pancakes, Masala Dosa, the fresh grilled fish and prawns and the vegetable Devilled! They cook really good and it tastes amazing.

Great food, good choice of veggie and non veggie. Had rice and curries which gave a great selection of really tasty curries. Also had chicken with the best chips we have ever had. Brilliant service and good price. I would highly recommend.

1 Day experience in Trincomalee & had food from 'Nina Restaurant' it was really nice. A family runs this restaurant. Very nice people, happy to serve delicious food for our suitable taste. We need to be clear about our preferences & taste. But trust me, it was delicious. Super. That's why I have attached the food we ordered & finished plates. As pictures says it all.. Excellent service.

Ordered a whole fish to share which was amazing. Can also recommend the banana fritters for dessert. It's a family run restaurant and they prepare everything to order so depending on what you order just keep in mind that it might take a little while.

My favourite restaurant in the area. Family-run, with excellent fish and prawn curries, and a delicious vegetarian curry buffet as well. It's very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Highly recommended.

Super delicious veg rice & curry. I saw lots of tourists in there for dinner so I avoided thinking it was another TripAdvisor trap. I ended up going for lunch per a local's recommendation and I'm glad I did! Dahl was one of my favorites I've had during 1 month in SL. The eggplant and beet curries were also top. Really friendly owners who also gave me a free, tasty cinnamon tapioca dessert :)

From bad to good: Not so good: Before you order a veggie burger, realize this. It is bread with only one slice of lettuce, tomato and cucumber. On top they place three french fries (????). And they charge 1400 for it. Good: When I made a remark, the people were nice and offered me a plate of extra vegetables, which was healthy and good. Also my wife’s rice was good. Haven’t tried other dishes, which may be good. But my personal experience was a slightly disappointing. Still 3 stars because I think the people are nice and try to run the place as good as possible.

I loved the vegan avocado pancake and the vegan banana lassi. The staff is very kind and I like the cozy space. I would recommend ❤️

We went there three times (2x breakfast, 1x dinner) during our stay and tried many of the vegetarian meals - all of them delicious. The portions are decent and they will even give you seconds at no extra charge. The service was very good but a little slow, although we noticed this seems to be a trend in all of Sri Lanka. All in all we would come again the next time we visited Trincomalee!

Me and my friend are both vegan and had lovely breakfast and delicious pineapple juice at Nina's! My friend ordered masala rosi and she loved it! Since I am gluten free and vegan they made me an off-menu pottu in addition to the flavorful dhaal and coconut sampal. Amazing service!

We went here for dinner and had fried rice with chicken and chicken deviled. The food was very delicious, cheap and the owner and his wife cooked freshly for us. They even explained the recipe to us afterwards and gave us local sweets for free. We had a really enjoyable time and dinner. Maybe the earlier reviews refer to a different restaurant as NINA moved to a new location.

Charming family-run restaurant named after their sweet daughter Nina. Food is tasty and made fresh by the husband and wife team. We shared the rice and chicken curry together with the Sri Lankan tomato, onion and coconut milk salad - rich in flavour and generous servings. The banana fritters and ice cream were a yummy finish. Have booked in again in two nights' time. Highly recommend!

We ate here twice during our stay in Uppuveli, Trincomalee, because the food was delicious, the family were really lovely, the prices were reasonable & the atmosphere was nice. We had coconut rotti & curry/coconut sambol & also a masala dosa - both were amazing! Their fresh juices were also delicious & great portion size (we had mango juice & lime juice). My partner & I are both vegan & had no problem finding delicious vegan options here! Thank you for such great food & hospitality Nina :) highly recommend this place if you visit Uppuveli.

Absolutely wonderful and the highlight of my trip so far. Not to be confused with the other Nina on Google maps which is a duplicate with the wrong address. Family owned and run, all dishes cooked from scratch - one of the best meals you’ll have in Sri Lanka ❤️

worst food, service and poor cleanliness. Food is not worthy at all. Ordered prawns devill, few prawns and lots of prawns heads actually it's prawns heads devill. mix seafood fried rice doesn't contain any seafood.

Second time I'm eating here. The masala dosa for breakfast came with dhal and coconut sambol (300 lkr) and was excellent, and a delicious papaya smoothie (250 lkr). Nina asked how spicy we'd like it. Nina also does Western breakfasts. Last night for dinner I had the vegetable curry, very tasty and affordable (300 lkr I think). No extra service charge, no extra tax - simple. Will come back again.

So we’ve been here twice. The first time was very enjoyable. The food and iced coffee was tasty and although the service was a bit slow they were really friendly. The second time wasn’t anything like that at all. The waiter didn’t seem to understand us as well as didn’t know the menu or which meals weren’t available in that day. We ordered two iced coffee with coconut milk. Got one which was fine (but by far not as good as the one we had the day before) and the second one was warm and tasted like water. So we ordered a new one. This one was cold but still watery and it didn’t taste like coconut milk at all! The food was tasty again, but the service was not good, we had to wait quite a long time and that’s why we would not go there for a third time.

If I was food I would want to be cooked here. We had the devilled vegetables and it blew us away. We will definitely be back!

As all places around here, for tourists, that's us, nice food, more expensive than local places but ok nonetheless.

It was the most delicious dinner of all the island. Fresh seafood, great service, good prices. Recommend to visit! Maybe it looks not fashionable, but it worth to taste the cuisine

We ate at Nina Restaurant for 3 days breakfasts and dinners and everything we eat was very tasty and fresh. We ate rice&curry, vegetables devilled, kottu, calmari, crab and other. We loved juices especially mango&pinaple - the best we had in Sri Lanka. The service might be a little faster but considering that there are only 2 people cooking it was acceptable.

We had a wonderful dinner at Nina's last night. A fish curry and veggie curry. All cooked from scratch and absolutely delicious. It was by far the best we've eaten while in Sri Lanka and we really appreciated the kindness and friendliness of this family run business. We only wish we were staying in town another night in order to sample their cooking one more time!! Thank you 🙏🏻
