The exhibit, There is No, taught me much about the Sami indigenous people in Norway. No word for Art, yet what artisans they are! Utilizing resources found in nature for tools, bowls and clothing were vibrant and beautiful. Tastefully displayed in a spacious venue of silence. I found myself very engaged with the exhibit. Free entrance and informative brochure and attendees came as a bonus surprise. If only the free coffee machine worked...it would have been perfect to sit and reflect on the emotion. I highly recommend this museum during your trip in Tromso.

Starting off with general aspects about the museum itself: it has three floors with multiple rooms for different artworks and a nice little shop on the ground floor. From what I understood, there is also a corner to sit, drink coffee and talk with fellow visitors. About the current exhibition: some of the people here talk a lot about how they didn't like "Gába – female resilience" because it was too short or too simple. I would say that these people did not understand what this exhibition is about. Only 28% of the museum walls are covered, showing the limited representation of female painters. It is a message to the public. That's why it's short. Personally, I really enjoyed the paintings and cultural features that had stories to tell about womanhood in different countries. Additionally, the museum has multiple sitting opportunities and very clean toilettes. What was missing for me though was more in depth stories regarding each painting or artist. Perhaps, some additions to go more into the "resilience" part would also be preferable. Other than that, it was very thought-provoking and interesting to see art present in such a way. If anyone wants to immerse themselves for a short 30–35-minute period of time into educative, cultural art, this is the place.

I love the concept and purpose of the current exhibition, Gåba. I'm not sure how I feel about the way it's presented. I left feeling like something was missing. Gåba meaning female resilience. That message was too subtle for me not as loud and clear as I hoped from such an important exhibit. The stories behind the art and what the exhibition is about was to me more interesting than the art itself. It's 30 min tops, including reading everything. Gift shop with locally buetiful items. Staff was ok. Bathrooms available. Lockers and coat area available. Paid parking only.

They had some light show which i found absolutely hilarious. I laughed for half an hour because it felt like a joke. For me it was one of the best experiences in tromsø. Dont take it seriously and it will be great. 10/10 Recommended

I definitely recommend a visit to this museum. When I went, there was an exhibition by Betzy Akersloot-Bergs highlighting the very less percentage of female artists in major world museums. It was eye-opening. The artist featured in the museum's main collection was Aage Gaup and I really liked his work. It included installations and sculptures which were thought-provoking and beautiful as well. The museum also has a diversified art collection under the headings People, Places, Imprints and Stories. Also, if you're a student there is no entry fee. But even if you aren't, the museum is worth it.

This is an amazing place, not just the usual food for thought (the exhibitions), but also space where you can make something yourself too (art supplies and equipment to make things)

The art museum was pretty small. It consists of 3 floors, but really, it's only 2 because the 1s floor exihbit is really tiny. Thought it was a bit overpriced for what it was but I think it's not a bad spot to kill 30-45 mins.

Nice small museum in a beautiful historical building after renovation. There are three floors, around seven rooms, nice library and gift shop. During our visit we saw mostly contemporary art, both paintings, ceramics, sculptures and installations. They were mostly devoted to female artists from Scandinavia in XX century. Art is followed with nice descriptions. 1-1.5 hours is probably enough for a visit.

The current exposition is too small. It took us 10 min to see all of it. It doesn't correspond to its price.

I loved the art desk area. If you’re looking to use up some free time in tromso this is the place to be. They have a giant table with all sorts of art supplies for you to use for free. They have acrylic paints, watercolour, wool, scrapbooking, markers, pastels and etc. I believe that they also do workshops every Sunday as well. When I went in, there was a calendar making workshop. This is a great community space.

Half of the exhibits seen in the images online weren't even there. This "art" museum is 99% empty space, and 1% questionable artistry. I mean one of the exhibits is literally a leaf. That's it. A leaf. Another is a stick. I only saw one painting I actually liked in the entire museum.

I liked this place, but my husband wasn't too interested. Some of the artwork was really interesting and I enjoyed it, some of it I didn't quite 'get'. Still, it was worth a visit.

A mixed bag of traditional Scandinavian works and some conceptual subjects. A curates egg, good in parts.

Friendly staff, interesting books on sale, creativity corner with coffee was nice. The art, hum. With only three relatively small floors and two of them entirely dedicated to an 'installation' that is fun at best, it leaves too little art for 5/5. But I d visit next time as well.

Nice museum with one main exposition in the ground & 1st floor of one artist and a exposition of multiple artist on the 2nd and 3rd floor. There's also space if you want to paint or work on artworks for free.

A wide collection of art set up in themes instead of periods, well worth a visit!

The museum had a few small exhibits on display but nothing over the top. The artwork on the 3rd floor was beautiful though!

Nice place. There is a piano where everyone can try out their "talent", maybe the piano's volume could be tuned down by two dB. Staff are very friendly. I liked the letter writing corner and small little "did you know notes", but maybe something different in every note rather than one repeated message all over the places.
