Adorable quiet place, perfect for a walk and to admire the surrounding mountains. My favorite place in Tromsø is somewhere on the side of the lake (picture with the bench) :D

A huge park with a lake and an ideal place to walk your dog! There are lots of birds - pigeons, gulls and ducks and constantly quaking! A lot of the seats are covered with bird poop! so if you are not a nature lover and all, this wont be the place for you. If you are on a vacation in Tromso and have a rest day, then you can visit this place, its calm and serene. Also a good park to run if you are into fitness!

Only did a quick visit at night, and in spite of the clouds, it was really beautiful and calming to be there. Seemed quite unspoilt and if you visit when it's not cloudy, I'm sure it'd be a good place to see the northern lights.

Tromsø is very bright with all the lights on, so this lake is great for aurora. You can find wee dark spots for good photo

I was there in mid winter, so Lake was frozen. We skied over there. Good to see a few wild lives. I am pretty sure in Sama this place would be very beautiful.

Indeed a good place for watching northern lights! The lake is now frozen and surrounded by snow-capped pine trees and fogs. Feels like a lake of magic. I didn’t expect to see aurora last night but ended up enjoying the best northern lights show for over an hour!

Nice place with mystic views durring the night. To spot the northern lights, its only semi-ideal since there still is a lot of lightpollution.

I visited this place a couple of different times during my stay in Tromso. Firstly, it is worth the walk there, around and back. The paths there are well marked and easy to follow in a loop. At the weekend, local families moved some snow, and a free ice skating course emerged. I just wished I had some shoes to have a go, lol. At night, you can escape some of the city light, to help you see the northern lights. There were a few groups of people huddled around the community fire pits, enjoying the warmth and Night sky. Well worth the visit. Plenty of runners if this is your thing.

Beautiful lake with a nice strolling path all the way around. You will come across the lake if you walk the island end to end through the middle. Also a good spot for seeing northern lights. In summer, there are quite many benches and what seems to be grills around the lake, so it seems to also be a wonderful summer picnic!

This is the only frozen lake of fresh water that can be found in tromso, since most other wateebodies are from the fjord. One can walk, ski or ice skate on this frozen lake and also presumably offers a good view for nothern lights

Prestvannet is a lovely lake on the top of the island of Tromsø. There is a nice gravel/sand walkway around the lake, and this makes for a lovely sunday walk. You can often see birds and the, area is beautiful.

Nice place to see the northern lights in Tromsø in winter because it is darker there than in the city.

Beautiful lake in the outskirts of Tromso. Easy to reach with city busses (#28 - #26) We saw the frozen version but surely it’s beautiful in spring & summer..

We went in december and it was a really romantic walk through the snow around the lake. It also has some dark spots shielded from Tromso's direct light pollution if you wanna look for green light.

Great place to see the northern lights from. Still a fair bit of light pollution but you can't get much better without leaving the island.

Very nice scenery. The prestvannet (priest water) is a little gem inside a gem (Tromsø itself) and great for relaxing, jogging, going for a walk or just for enjoying the beautiful view. It's on top of the island, and if the polar lights come close to Tromsø, it's a good place to gaze.
