👍👍 After having a snow mobile accident in Jan 2020 I was taken to this hospital and due to the nature of my injuries I was told in was lucky to be alive. I could not have asked for better care I received from the docs and nurses they got me ready to be able to fly back home so I could start my recovery... People often mention hospital, staff,

During an August, 2018 Hurtigruten cruise my wife became ill and we had to leave the ship on the southbound portion. We were amazingly fortunate regarding timing to have arrived at Tromso. Big city. The University Hospital and staff were wonderful; very efficient and knowledgeable. Very large, with specialists, MRI's, X-rays, EEG's, etc. and two hundred miles north of the Arctic Circle! We did not have travel insurance and had to pay out of pocket including two nights in the hospital. The bill came two months later to our home in the US totaling about $3.5K. I actually was expecting $20K or more. (your results may vary). This charge included the ambulance ride from the ship. I had to ride in a cab behind her. I stayed in a very nice attached hotel. When she was discharged, we flew directly back to Bergen (about $350 pp) to finish our journey. Big airport, many flights.

They took care of my mother, an American tourist on vacation when she needed help with pain due to her cancer. They treated my parents with the utmost care and respect. They were able to help her get well enough to come back to the US. I will be eternally grateful to the staff who cares for my parents.

My boyfriend had an accident where we needed to go to the emergency room. Check-up in my opinion was adequate and professional. After check-up, the staff did not inform us about payment/settlement as tourists (we had to ask how to settle, otherwise they will send you an invoice for which you pay extra) and we were not provided with an epicrisis. This in my opinion is unprofessional!

We had a terrible experience at the paediatric ultrasound unit. The doctor threat us and use her position of power in order to get her way to calm our baby for the procedure. Even though the baby was calm enough to do the ultrasound she threat that she will not do the ultrasound if sugar water was not provided.

Visited here on 13th March 2023 as my mum had wrist fracture. Overall it was a good experience. Dr Dana and her team, emergency department staff and x-ray staff were very professional and helpful. They did tell us where to make the payment. However, the amount to be paid was a bit confusing. Regardless of what the doctors did, the amount were the same for the first day and following day. If you need immediate assistance, go to their emergency department (legevakt) instead of the main entrance. Search for "Tromsø kommunale legevakt" on Google map.

Despite clamoring for treatment from this public health institution for over a year, a Brazilian woman named Wilqui Dias has so far only received a prescription for palliative medication and, as she does not receive proper treatment, is suffering a lot of pain. Please God, help this woman 🙏
