👍👍 Honestly, a perfect hour to 1.5 hour jaunt! The gentleman at the entrance is so kind and tells great stories of each troll. Great for adults, too (it was only 20-30 year olds when we went, we don't have kids). A hidden gem you should certainly find. I'm really glad we went! So fun, would recommend a... A great little museum that has a lot of information on mythology and folklore. There is a cool augmented reality feature throughout the exhibitions and it is a nice spot to visit.

A great museum with interesting and modern installations. It is small, so you can manage to explore everything in 2 hours, although the amount of exhibits is pretty big. Stories from books, photo zones, thematic music and augmented reality(!) - these things are there in addition to pictures and some sculptures. I would say a little bit of everything, and that makes the place worth visiting. In addition, there are a small library with stories about trolls in different languages and a separate room with games where children can play (and adults).

Summary. Cute, fun, and informative stop good for kids and lovers of fairy tales. You need approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour for all of the museum. Detail My wife and I were on a vacation in Tromso Norway and came across this charming museum. She is a lover of fairy tales and mythology, so this place was a perfect match. We arrived close to closing time, but the staff wanted to make sure we got to enjoy everything and did not have to rush. With enthusiasm, they explained to us all the details about the legends and answered our questions. I particularly enjoyed the segment on the music inspired by the stories. There was also a small game room where we enjoyed a wooden rune game. Know before you go- American payment cards can be problematic. I recommend taking cash. The staff is working on adding a PayPal option but not there yet Also, the museum is on the 3rd floor with an elevator or stairs to get up. 5 out of 5 stars

I visited the Troll Museum in Tromsø, and it was a quaint and lovingly curated space. It provides extensive information about the history and various types of trolls in Norway. However, there's a lot to read, which can somewhat diminish the fun factor. They offer augmented reality experiences with trolls on tablets, but it feels quite basic and lacks realism. While it's a decent option for a rainy day, I wouldn't necessarily classify it as a must-see attraction.

A quaint little museum, worth going if you have have some time to kill. I didn't find the AR particularly interesting, but I loved how the exhibits were treating trolls as they were real. Also there are some interesting stories around, and a fun little board game you can play.

Open daily 9-18. Paid parking only. Staff is very nice and informative. Small museum packed with information, stories and history of trolls. Take your time, read\listen enjoy some AR. You can easily spend 2 hours soaking in all the information. There's a few fun activities for kids and awesome selfie and photo spots.

Very cool museum. It’s small and you’ll only need 30 minutes to 1 hour to get through it depending on if you read all of the information, which you definitely should! Cool pictures and the AR features on the tablets are so nice. Overall had fun and it was nice to see and worth the ticket price.

Tromso - Troll Museum We had a great time here at the Troll Museum, Tromso. Those who ❤️ fairy tales and magical world of trolls, this is the place you must not miss! One floor, self paid parking and friendly staffs.

Very interesting, especially if you're interested in the myths and legends of Norway. Some interesting interactive screens that definitely added additional colour and life to the exhibition, good fun for all the 'kids at heart'. (Not sharing photos of the trolls or exhibits. Don't want to spoil it for you.)

Utterly charming museum with some interactive elements but mainly a brilliant history of trolls. I hadn’t realised that the great Ibsen wrote stories about trolls. A really fun place to spend an hour or so.

How fantastic was the magical and mystical Troll Museum! You must put this on the top of your list of things to do in Tromsø. The service was exceptional with a briefing by a lovely staff member before starting your self tour. I especially liked the Norse mythology. 🎵🥁🎺

This is a fun, light-hearted experience that also gives a pretty thorough overview of the mythology and folklore in the region. They have a lot of interactive exhibits, artwork, a game room, and a cute little coffee station.

We had a blast! And we are looking forward to visiting all the troll related places in Norway. We spend over 3 hours here. All the fairytales that are in the museum can also be found in the books in the reading area. It was fun to read the tails after seeing the museum. The only tip we have for the museum is to use better lighting (less bright) such that it can come more to live and for better pictures. Taking a picture on the AR devices would also be more fun if the positioning would be better. But overall a truly great museum!

We arrived via a cruise a ship and even then this wasn’t overly busy. The staff are nice and friendly, it’s really fun and informative. You get some great photos and it can take anywhere from 30-90 minutes. The Augmented Reality is a fun spin on the museum displays. We highly recommend doing the Troll Expert quiz! There are also troll themed games to try which can be for kids or adults it depends on how young at heart you are.

Most of the other museums were closed. We ended up here as it was near our cruise ship. Reasonable admission fee. Nice displays of trolls and history.

Incredible experience. I really loved all the information, layout and display. I had a wonderful time and learned so many things about the Norwegian mythology and it’s trolls.

Fantastic little museum. Full of information. Give yourself a couple of hours, as so much to read and do.

Small museum, just one floor - really only valuable for troll fans as it's kind of expensive to visit otherwise. The AR component is minimal but the troll exhibits and stories are quite lovely. 10 NOK discount for seniors (above 60 years old). You can spend anywhere from 30 mins to 1.5 hours here (more time if you're reading all the story boards).

Such a fun museum about Nordic mythology! Had a great time here. They have a cute games room where you can hang out and play a little troll maze game. Highly recommend for people interested in mythology and supernatural.

Very unique little place. I loved the stories of the myths and some of the art work. The staff was really friendly and accommodating! We played some of the games in the little rooms set up too.

We came into this museum to kill some time on a bad weather day and we were pleasantly surprised. It's a small little museum focused on Norwegian troll folklore with some cool pictures and exhibits, and some AR features. There is a games room too that we had fun playing some board games we had never tried before. The lady working was very friendly and helpful also. Worth a visit.

Definitely worth a visit if you enjoy mythology or learning more about Norwegian culture. The museum is small but full of stories, displays, and some augmented reality exhibits. An hour is probably enough time. There are traditional games to play as well as a reading room with relevant books (most in Norwegian) but some in English and other languages. Coloring activities are available for children and adults. Signs are in Norwegian and English with other languages available via their electronic guide (free WiFi to access other language translations). A free WC is available plus a coat room for winter gear.

The Troll museum was definitely worth a visit, lots of stories to read, interactive activities and photo opportunities. Really nice welcome and introduction. Enjoyed a Troll game and free coffee before leaving.

Found by accident within easy walking distance of the ship, this is an interesting insight into the mythology of Trolls. Located on 3rd floor of the building, there is a lift/elevator to get there. Mainly static displays and storyboards, but Augmented Reality is used to bring these to life. Note the price on the sign outside refers to coffee and not the admission cost.
