The northern light is right outside your doorstep, if the weather is good. Nice greeting from the reception staff. The wooden lodge have very good heating and very warm. It can be easily access by public transport from airport (Bus no. 20) and city centre + 7 mins walk. The breakfast and warm drinks all day from the service building are really nice. However, if you book and economy lodge without private kitchen, the utilities in the common kitchen are not so well equipped, most people who travel with caravan have their own cooking stuff. The smallest economy cottage for 2 person don't have your personal toilet so need to about 200 m to the service building. It's well maintained and very clean.

Nice level pitches (tarmac) with artificial grass. Good facilities but you pay for what you get. Washing machines expensive (100 nkr) but dryers free. A good 30 minute walk across the bridge into town.

Best place I have stayed In Tromso. Service was brilliant, everything was absolutely beautifull and cozy. The view from the cabin looked like it was taken out of a magazine. The breakfast wasn't amazing but was good enough . A bit hard to get there if you relay on public transportation - if you do , I recomand a cab .

I really enjoyed the cabin experience. Booked an explorer cabin with 2 friends and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Location, services are plus points. Always recommend staying away from city hustle 👍🏾

It might be full with campers/caravans, but the tent city is fine - just walk around and find your spot, don’t stop at first spot you notice. We found the place to be great for the price - 22€ and you have a tent plce, shower, wc that’s available 24/7, AND a sauna. Were very pleased with our stay. Very helpful staff.

Alles top! Super recommend, we enjoyed the night there. There are motorhome parking places with electricity for fair prices (including bathrooms, sauna and a kitchen). The staff are nice & helpful. You can also see the northern lights there. Here are some pics that i made in the middle of a rainy & cloudy night (after staring for 3 hours at the sky, cause the chances of seeing them were too low)

Loved it! Nice accommodation with direct access to the mountains without being far away from the city. You just cross the bridge and your on the island. There are even very frequent buses going towards the city center and the airport.

Place near the Cathedral & the bridge to the city center with lots of tent spots in the nearby woods. Very friendly & helpful staff, breakfast buffet for NOK 175, which is cheap for Norway. Service & commons areas are cleaned twice a day.

this place is right next to Tromsø City center with beautiful river outside and sound of Running water is just calming. photos can never justice with enormously beautiful place. I am pretty sure that its a best place to experience northern lights unfortunately for my trip it wasn't forecast for 3 consecutive nights. Definately planning next time with Tromsø camping and lodge again. comfortable apartment in cosy and reluctant area. loved spending time and fall in love with Tromsø City.

Lovely site with tarmac hard standing and very well laid out. Facilities excellent, but only 1 drier working at present. Well located for getting into the city.

Great base to explore Tromsø. It is an easy walk to the city centre and to Fjellheisen station. We were here during high season and it was fully booked. Still the sanitary building was always cleaned and equipped with enough spaces to handle all guests. We found the staff at the reception very friendly.

We stayed here for 4 nights last week. Absolutely stunning location at the base of a mountain. Cab ride to Tromso city centre takes less than 10 mins. If you prefer, you can walk down to the nearest bus stop (admire the stunning scenery on the way) in 10 mins and then 5 mins bua ride to Tromso centre. The cabins are absolutely stunning. They are very modern and clean with ample space. The staff at the reception are extremely helpful and kind. They even called our tour operator to pick us up from the location rather than city centre. The only slight downside would be a bigger selection for food available for lunch.

Good price and location near Tromso, kitchen was good with all utensils/pots/pans needed. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We paid 23€ for a camping van for the night, which was reasonable and included free showers. Now for the worst part of the camping was definitely the sauna. The sauna room smelled extremely bad and the shower is blocking the drain so the dirty water is just left on the floor, so it cannot be cleaned. Sauna felt bad and there was nothing to throw water with. Worst sauna experience of my life.

Camping in the city which feels like it’s in the middle of the forest. Very good facilities: laundry room, showers and kitchen. We missed a bit better electricity solution for the people who are staying in the tents in the forest part. There is an option to order breakfast and lunches in the cafe. Prices are not very high given it’s Norway. 250 NOK for 2 people and a tent.

Exceptional service and facilities!! Very friendly, helpful reception, open until 22:00 and the best bathroom/shower facility that we have encountered! No extra shower fees, programmed card entrance to this and kitchen facility. Seems like a popular place, close proximity to the center of Tromsø. We were in a camper and the dump station was easy to use. They also have cabins to rent and serve breakfast and lunch in their nicely designed and spacious reception building. Would highly recommend!

Stayed for one night with RV. The area is clean an location is great. However it’s basically a parking lot with artificial grass between the parking spots - so would not say very inspiring or exciting. However the facilities were clean and quite smart with one exception (sauna) that I will get to later. Breakfast was nice but not exceptional, but ok value considering the price. But to our main complaint, which was the sauna. First of all seems like the shower drain was not cleaned properly and it smelled like a wet weasel. Probably due to the odor lock being dry for too long. Also there were signs telling you not to throw water on the sauna heater - which is exactly what the heater is designed for. It will not break from using it as it’s meant to be used. Also the heater had like 6 stones on it. So if someone from the staff is reading this: please triple the amount of stones on the heater so that the resistors are covered and then you can take out the sign prohibiting using water with the heater. Your heater actually even has a compartment to add water to for more steam. :)

This is a spectacular place to stay, the surroundings are beautiful. It's an easy 30 min walk into town and there are many hiking trails near.

  • 4/5 William D. 1 year ago on Google
Overall it was a great place! Very clean, good amenities, close to hiking and most things you’ll want to see and do in Tromso. My only knock is that breakfast on our last day was basically pre-packaged items. This was really disappointing to my son who only ate the pancakes. So on the last day he was bummed there wasn’t anything for him to eat.

The area it’s located in is at a more peaceful part of tromso, beside a mountain and 2km near the cable car for a peek view. The cabins were spacious, with a functional kitchen complete with all your cooking and dining needs. The flooring of the cabin living room and bathroom have heated floors where you can adjust the settings. Only downside is the bathroom drainages and plastic enclosure are not designed well, every time anyone uses the shower, it always floods up the toilet and sink area. They already have a floor mop hanging on the wall to address this issue but it still can be a bit challenging to use the toilet in a flooded bathroom especially during winter where it takes time to dry.

Great little place. We was in a red lodge. Kitchen and bathroom dated, ut could do with upgrading. Tv did not work. Matteresses a little uncomforrable. And upon arrival the lodge was freezing with wet floors. The cleaner should have left the heating on a little bit but once we settled in it was amazing. Puece and quiet. Heating finalkybwarmed the place up after 3 or so hours. Then left it on trickle for the duration of our stay. Breakfast was basic but nice. Lovely location. I was happy with our stay and would love to go there again. Justvhad to write out a few issues before hand :)

It was very nice !! It’s a camping so it’s a bit further from the city than other hotels and taxis are a bit expensive around 360NOK from there to the city center for 5 people. But the fact that it is a camping it’s better to see the Northern Lights without being bothered by city lights, and play in a clean snow like building a snowman or an igloo. There were also a few hiking trails starting from the camping.

The staff were nice and helpful. The breakfast was great 👍. Great hiking nearby and not far from town if you need to uber. The room size was a bit disappointing. The traditional cabin does fit 5 (one on the sofa which does not let out) but you are pretty cramped. We are 5 women who travelled pretty light (Carry on & personal item only) and found the cabin too small. The bathroom was the most inconvenient. We had issues with the toilet filling back up properly and there is absolutely nowhere in the shower or close to it to place your toiletries on. 5 women sharing a bathroom and no room for any products was very inconvenient. A small table or shelving and some kind of shower organizer would have been much appreciated.

We were there for the northern lights, but that was a no-show. We enjoyed the area and the abundance of snow. Coming from Melbourne Australia, we have to trek to the mountains for this 👌 Great staff and facilities. Accessible by bus if you want to go to Tromsø city. This place would be great in warmer months, too!

We stayed 2 nights in Explorer cabin. The camping area, main building and cabin were excellent. Everything was tidy and cosy. Main building has basic selection of groceries and you can but drinks and ice cream also. We had breakfast one day and it was worth it and really delicious.

Very nice place, close to centrum, but bus it Little far away from this place. Specialy in Winter is a Little challenge to go. House is very cosy with beautiful view.

One of the best stays. Absolutely loved the surroundings and the houses are lovely. In the backdrop, we enjoyed the mountains and river both. If lucky one can see the northern lights just from the house skylight.

Staff is very friendly, Explorer cabin was nice and clean and the size was okay for two people. Only the shower drain was clogged and they didn't get to fix it during our stay. Breakfast was good as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Very nice place in the near from Tromsø. Very good equipment in the kitchen. The showers and toilets are very modern. Nice service and fair prices. Thank you

A spacious camping area for tent, camping van and cabin. The facilities include common kitchen, toilet, shower. Everything is well equipped with a good maintenance. The area also includes its own restaurant. Friendly receptionist. One good thing about the camp is, the camp locates near Sherpatrappa, which you can walk to Sherpatrappa and enjoy the view

A nice camping with clean facilities. There's a kitchen area where you can cook en do dished. The staff speak good English. From here you can walk into Tromsø.

Great camping to visit Tromsø. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a lively common room. Showers are great. The people working there are nice. Paid 270 NOK for a tent.

The accommodations are lovely and well equipped with anything you may need! The staff were very welcoming and the grounds are well kept. The location is actually near the city within a neighborhood, so it is not a remote spot, making it easy to find.

We visited six different campsites in Norway; this was the best! The showers were fantastic, the staff were efficient and there was plenty of space. It was also easy to get to. Really enjoyed it.

Nice and cozy cabin next to beautiful scenery. Absolutely lovely experience staying here for my trip!

Modern, clean cabins, attentive staff and great breakfast options. About 10 minutes drive to the Tromso airport and a bit less to the city center. Late night food options are very limited (non-existent), so it makes sense to plan ahead.

Positive: location was perfect to watch the northern lights. Placed on the bottom of the mountain with very nice view. Friendly staff and a sauna free of charge that we didn't had the time to use it. Negatives: far from the bus stop. Around 800m walking in the snow with the cars passing by us. Very cold room. Only a small heater that didn't do much. No heat in the bathroom. The toilet seat was very cold! A lot of noise from the ventilation in the room. We woke up in the middle of the night from the noise and I had to turn it off. The bunk beds for the children weren't ready to sleep. I had to find the covers in a plastic bag, that was too dusty and make the beds ready. Even though they expected a family they didn't bother to make the beds. The room was too bright because of the glass roof and was difficult to sleep with all that light. The pillows were too flat and the covers were so thin that we had to sleep with our clothes because of the cold! It was -15 degrees outside!
