👍 Something has changed the past couple months. This place has really stepped up the cleanliness of the pool and shower area. That's the good aspect. The downside is, in the past everyone would get a towel. Now you have to pay extra for that service. I recently felt compelled to share my experience at the Troy LA Fitness as I've encountered persistent issues that have significantly diminished my satisfaction with the facility. First and foremost, cleanliness is a glaring concern. The gym is consistently filthy, creating an environment that is far from conducive to a positive workout experience. It's disheartening to see a lack of attention to hygiene, considering the importance of maintaining a clean space, especially in a gym setting. Moreover, the maintenance of equipment leaves much to be desired. Numerous pieces of equipment appear neglected and, in some cases, unsafe for use. This not only compromises the effectiveness of workouts but also poses potential risks to the members. Adding to the frustration is the inadequate provision of cleaning supplies. The wipes provided are of subpar quality, rendering them nearly ineffective in ensuring the cleanliness of the equipment. It's disappointing to invest time and money into a gym only to be confronted with such basic shortcomings. I sincerely hope that LA fitness takes these concerns seriously and initiates measures to address the issues raised. A clean and well-maintained gym is fundamental to the well-being and satisfaction of its members, and I believe that improvements in these areas would go a long way in enhancing the overall experience for everyone. I hope that I can trust LA fitness will take the necessary steps to rectify these issues promptly.

I've been using this location for almost a year now, and it's crazy for me to understand where the membership fees are going. Equipment at this facility is constantly breaking and isn't maintained. The cleanliness is always lacking it seems, and the equipment wipes they provide are just useless. The other frustrating thing is that they can't seem to get staff to show up on time to open the gym in the mornings at 5am. They would be better off giving the key to a regular 5am person and let them open the door and turn the computer on. This location really doesn't reflect the experience I've come to expect from LA fitness facilities.

Had a very disappointing experience with manager Danny. For the first time ever after a year of visiting multiple signature locations, I was denied a towel because I allegedly didn’t have the subscription for it. Oddly, I’ve never had an issue getting a towel before, and multiple other guests were getting turned down for towel requests. Even if true, this inconsistent application of policy is a terrible customer experience and Danny decided to hold up multiple member check ins to make his point. I just came up on my one year renewal and will be cancelling- I can’t believe they’d argue over something this petty.

This gym was so nice for a while but it has been seriously neglected. The equipment is FILTHY! I almost gagged at the dried sweat and dead skin and dust and epithelials all over those machines! Yuck. They need a deep cleaning and some regular help. 🤢

Bait and switch with their “free visit”. I just wanted to try it out for one visit before signing up. So, I register for the free visit online and got my barcode. They made me wait twenty minutes to talk to a manager. Then the manager sits me down and makes me listen to his whole sales pitch. After he tells me I have to pick a membership and give my credit card before I can try anything out. I ended up going to the planet fitness that’s about two minutes away. WAY nicer facility (this LA fitness has seen better days), friendlier staff, cheaper, and honored my free visit with no questions. I signed up that night. I’d definitely recommend visiting them if you’re looking for a gym in this area.

This is my first ever review and had to do this based upon my experience. I was visiting from out of town, completely understood why I was not able to use the free trial pass, but the rudeness and interaction I had with the sales person/manger was uncalled for. He asked why we were there, clearly to workout from out of town and he then asked for ID's when our guest qr code wouldn't work. He then asked why we were in town and I reiterated for Thanksgiving and we just wanted to get a workout in and asked where my hometown was. Once I told him he said we cannot be allowed in because of the distance from that gym. I accepted without any complaint and asked if they offered day passes. He simply said yes but they are $20, which was no issue, but then was told to go back of the line to purchase a day pass, while he went back and sat down. My fiance's family is from Troy and we come visit fairly often, but will never attend this gym again. The facilities were fine, new equipment, nothing broken, but they mere disrespect when trying to simply purchase a pass and visit. The idea of getting a membership for our visits there are gone after this interaction.

My wife and I had a great experience signing up for the gym with Danny. The club has everything you can think of. We signed up for personal training with Annabel and Al and we both are looking and feeling terrific. We really felt like all the staff really cares about helping.. The place has a great energy. The program we have even includes 2 guests, so I can play basketball with my friends from time to time. Five stars.

I was a guest at this location this weekend and I was very disappointed. It for sure didn't look or feel like a "signature" location. The equipment was the same as any other gym, too close together imo, some were broken, and honestly, there weren't enough treadmills and too many other cardio machines no one was using. They had three empty racket ball rooms and not enough mat space for stretching and free weights. To top it off, the women's locker room was filthy and there were no supplies. The sauna was nice and big though.

The club is relatively clean and has nice locker room amenities. Staff was polite. Having towels are nice (not for me though), yet doesn’t, in my opinion, offset the below challenges: A) pool water was very (unnecessary) cool and access was limited due to a couple patrons just standing at the end doing absolutely nothing … for many minutes … as other patrons were waiting on deck to gain access. Note, I would never offer swim lessons or aquatic programs in such cool water - huge turn-off! B) club has a lot of equipment although many of the treadmills and like plug-in equipment are fairly outdated … for a signature club. C) layout of this signature club, in my opinion, is not as nice and appealing as other regular LA Fitness clubs in the immediate area. D) road access to this club is quite limiting and congested. If the signature club is solely based on towels and juice bar, based on my experience, I prefer regular LA Fitness clubs.

I would NEVER recommend this LA Fitness to anyone as long as Danny works for the company (if that’s even his real name. He is a white man that has long brown hair with a scruffy beard!) He denied me access with my guest pass (that was already confirmed) due to me working for the company YEARS ago in California.. All I wanted to do was try the Zumba class because I heard the instructor was great and if I liked it, I was going to sign up. I support LA Fitness as a company, but if Danny is the new standard of employees they hire, I wouldn’t go to any ever again! He was completely rude and dismissive of me as I tried to talk. This is the worst experience of my life! I honestly would give NO stars if possible!!

Initial impression is a nice club with all the amenities. WRONG! The locker rooms, shower, and sauna are very dirty. Equipment does not get maintenanced and therefore has issues. If you don’t go during the slow period good luck finding available equipment to use. We did the towel service and the linens must have been in circulation since the club opened. Don’t get lured in by the lower price relative to the amenities. Either spend more for lifetime fitness or go to planet fitness.

I’m an LA fitness member and I went tonight to try out this gym because I wanted to check out their Zumba class with my friend. The girl at the front desk told me I could not come in because I’m not able to with my membership?? This makes no sense as the cost they have online for their location is the same as mine. The girl told me I would have to pay $10 if I wanted to come in this evening - what incentive do I have to pay $10 if I haven’t experienced their classes/equipment/amenities? This is basic Sales 101. From what I saw from the front desk area, the quality of this location is no different from the one I normally go to, except perhaps with worse customer service. Needless to say, I will not be returning to this location.

Pool is cold and gross . Had to close it to remove all the algae on the concrete pool . No spin machine for suits . The hot tub ppl get out and cool off in pool hot tubs carry many things . Gross . A pool company comes once a week only to shock it . I swim at least a mile a day and that concrete pool is dangerous compared to tiled pools . It’s not for me. No I see nasty Bloomfield Hills location is permanently CLOSED . Gee I wonder why ? Probably health dept shut them down . Had to register there because nobody at this location was able to sign me up . I think front desk ppl should be allowed to do so . Cya LA fitness you were my plan Z back up place anyway . Someone spit a huge wad on deck while a friend was using the pool . 2 days later Covid .

Pros: this location is the cleanest and most organized location I’ve been to in the metro Detroit area. Plenty of equipment and don’t have to wait for most things. Cons: The employees really push their personal training program to the point of rudeness. I declined due to financial reasons twice and both times they questioned my financial judgement - pretty rude. They also constantly bother you during workouts to “check in”. The spin bikes here are pretty old and seats are quite uncomfortable, not on par with industry standard spin bikes/classes. The pool area here has loiters who are not actually swimming - very annoying when trying to swim. Also the chlorine levels in this pool are very high, and caused chlorine irritant dermatitis. Much higher than levels in a normal public pool.

Seniors and their children and grandkids. This company does not respect seniors. They try to sell training sessions at $2,880 per year and that is only 1 day a week with a trainer. More than one day a week, as you can guess, prices go up more and more. They high-pressure the seniors into signing a 12-month contract even though their membership is paid by the secondary insurance of medicare. I have one of the secondary health plans that pays for my membership and I went to this LA Fitness just to register and get my membership card when I asked them for it they said I would have to register with a certain employee. That is when the high-pressure sales con started. Seniors beware. If you have health care company that pays for using the club facilities do not talk to anyone that tries so sell you anything. Just register and ask for your fob or membership card that you are entitled to. Don’t make the same mistake that I did.

LA fitness Troy has an amazing staff that is warm , friendly and welcoming. The gym is always very clean but I find bizarre is LA fitness across the country can be very inconsistent. Royal oak is absolutely filthy and rundown. It’s very sad how you go from one LA to another and you don’t know what you’re gonna get ! again, if you want to go to a clean gym and have a warm staff and great equipment, go to LA Troy 👍

I have been with this gym for about a year and had the best experience so far. - In terms of the club itself: very clean, large variety of equipment, and nice setting. - In terms of its staff: Everyone is very professional and helpful! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Hello Raymond, You do not pay for access at the La fitness signature club. We would love for you to upgrade your account to have access here. If you do not you will not be allowed to come into the club without paying an interclub fee. If you would like to schedule an appointment to upgrade your account we would love to help you with that. Thank you for your visit and have a great day.

Huge thanks to Joe and Jandark at the front desk for the day pass. My area hotel was under renovation, with their fitness facilities not available, so I needed to find a place for a quick workout. My 1000+ day streak of riding a bike would have ended if they wouldn’t have offered great customer services and this LA Fitness for my quick ride. Thanks again Joe & Jandark!

The gym is nice but the condition of the women’s locker room and bathroom is horrible. Was just there today and the garbage canister in the locker room was overflowing onto the floor. Pieces of paper towels all over the floor on the way to the bathrooms. The bathrooms- disgusting. 3 of the sinks had no soap. 2 of the toilets were dirty. While I know that also reflects on the poor hygiene of the females using the bathroom, the management of the gym should have staff maintaining the cleanliness of the place. This is the worst I have seen it. It’s been sloppy and messy but today was the worst. I have friends that go to Lifetime and Planet Fitness and they say it’s very clean and they see the maintenance staff on site. I have never seen anyone in the locker room cleaning here.

FIND A DIFFERENT GYM. The staff here simply does not care. They may have once long ago, but this place is a mess. A lot of equipment doesn't work and have signs that say so. Same signs that were there for 2 weeks. Some don't work and have no sings, and they KNOW they don't work. Top it off, this place is closing for a renovation shortly, for NINE months. You can renovate a house quicker. Maybe, just maybe, in 2025 this place will open with caring people and equipment that works.

This is the worst gym. It has always been dirty, I have been a member since 2018, but recently they simply gave up. They have signs posted for a renovation starting in May or June, I assume the staff has given up since the renovation is happening soon. 1. A friend was joining me at the gym to show me a few weightlifting options. I inquired with a front desk associate who identified himself as the AGM what I could do. He said she would have to pay $20 for a day pass. I thought that was excessive so I asked if members were able to send passes, then he showed me on the app how I could send one but followed it up with a statement like it will take 24 hours for her to get it. It took 2 minutes. You are the AGM, you didn’t know that. While we were getting her pass, he started arguing with a patron about equipment that wasn’t working. It was so tacky, your equipment sucks maybe less defensive actions. 2. This brings me to equipment. Not only do they never clean anything, but there will be pieces of equipment down for weeks. The equipment is heavily covered with debris. 3. Troy police is there often becuase patrons frequently get their personal items stolen. Probably unlocked lockers but frequently there is not an associate at the desk ensuring everyone checks in so you do the math on that. 4. The locker rooms are never cleaned, probably removal of towels and trash is all they do. You can see dust and build up everywhere. No one enforces rules and the weightlifting area is a disaster. Never wiped down with beat up equipment. Yesterday, I cancelled my membership attempting to work out. The parking lot was packed. When I walked in, the gym was busy. There was no one at the desk. I walk into the ladies locker room and there is a lady sleeping on the bench! There were three patrons changing so we just went on with our business. I go into the sauna. After about 10 minutes, another couple patrons join. When one of them gets up to leave and steps on the lower bench, the bench flips over! Luckily she wasn’t hurt but it could have been serious. When I left the sauna, I was splashing cold water on my face and I look over to the right, a man had walked from the pool thru the hallway where women were showering and almost into the women’s locker room! When he saw me he turned around! I would assume the locker rooms are well marked from the pool, but this just was the end of my attempted workout and giving this place a chance. I left and wanted to tell an associate about it but again as I departed, the desk was empty. Find a different gym!

Out of the three I have been to this one is cleanest, most the time. Never super crowded. My only complaint is they have no lat pullover machine. No, I'm not talking about Lat pulldown. Royal Oak, the dirtiest one ever, has one. By far the best piece of gym equipment. And like the other places, only one cage. I wish they would all get at least two cages, no need for a spotter. If anyone reads these, please get a Lat Pullover machine and I'll try to send you members. Thinking of just getting my own equipment because no one seems to take care of theirs except two employees. I know it's hard being short staffed so more than half the blame goes to members who can't put one stinking Dumbbell back. I would give it a 5 if they get that lat pullover. To others, go try it and you'll soon be requesting one to.

The young man of the receptionist desk let a gentleman brought a visitor in without providing a valid ID. He even told the couple do not tell anyone, right in front of other members. Then he process to tell another couple that there is $20 for guest pass, although on the website there was barcode for free day guest pass. Switch and bait. Not honest place. This happen just few mins ago. If the owner see this please pay attention to your staff that driving the place down.

Terrible management. The managers ARE WORSE then the employees. I have the ALL ACCESS membership where I can go to any LA fitness. The front lady working let me in since I have all access to alll LA fitness. The manager tells me that’s not true and the “Sig gyms” are NOT included. Then wanted to charge me for a towel. What makes this place special or a signature gym? The so called normal gyms I go to are slot cleaner and much better kept.. I have seen so many 1 star reviews and now I get why.. the managers are terrible and I was going to give them a 5 star for the employee who let me in and was super nice.. I pay a lot of money and an extra few bucks would get me a signature title but looking at that place and managers it’s definitely NOT WORTH IT.. the manager tried boasting how high class they were but they’re worse then the rest.. Do NOT COME HERE SAVE THAT MONEY AND GO TO A REGULAR ONE.. I hope that manager I reads this because he’s the reason for it all.. all because I have the ALL ACCESS TO ALL LA fitness besides this nasty signature one which is flight on top of it.. stay away

Great staff and facility. I just don't like working out around or in a facility that allow minors. If this facility only allowed people who were 18 years of age or older, it'd be 11/10 for me. The above is a personal preference after working at The Health and Fitness Center of Washtenaw Community College though, so take this review with a grain of salt. 🤷‍♂️

I wish I had the choice of putting no star ⭐️ whoever manager named Danny don’t know how to deal with customers or to make them happy. My brother and I have a family plan that we can bring each two guests. One day I called customer service of LA fitness they told me it’s OK if they come in without you, I had an emergency to run I let three people to go to gym under my brothers name and under my name Danny did not let them in just because we weren’t with them but I made sure that it was fine before they went by talking to his coworkers, they’ve done it three times, my family drove a long way and he didn’t appreciate that and didn’t even care, very bad attitude and he made it to be my fault because what his coworkers said to me. (Danny if you want to run something right run it evenly with other coworkers as well, I don’t appreciate what happened because that wasn’t what I’ve been told )

Been to this location several times, however the last experience was the worst interaction I’ve ever had in my life. The general manager “Danny” was clearly being prejudice against me simply because I’m an African American male. Never once have I had to pay to enter when I‘ve been here over 10 times. The only person who he stopped out of the15 people walking in was the only person that was black. When I brought this all to his attention he laughed in my face. This is not the only time he’s been reported either there were many others who were black who also felt the same way who have a membership at this location. I’m cancelling my LA Fitness membership simply because of this & I hope if you are against racism you should do the same.

I hope that someone will inform the owner that the manager who was working at this location on 3/23/33 at 6:30pm is incredibly unprofessional, aggressive, and is likely causing lost business to this gym. someone I saw had walked in in an attempt to sign up for a membership however he refused the business and Then pursued an argument with the perspective customer regarding policies in place in a very aggressive manner. He continued to raise his voice at the customer after the customer inquired about working out that evening since they were there already and had actually already paid for the membership through a third party. The person who claimed he was the manager continued to argue creating an overall very unpleasant and hostile environment. I have had no issues with any other employee there and all of the other staff have been great however this person creates a terrible atmosphere. advise to others avoid this time of the evening or at least any interaction with that person if you plan on going to the LA fitness location on maple avenue in Troy. Furthermore this man then very loudly so it could be heard across the room stated that because the man tried to acquire membership through an insurance company he should not expect the same level of service as other members who pay directly to LA fitness at a cost that is $10 higher per month. I believe this alienates a large portion of clientele like myself who go to gums to seek bettering their health overall which is supposed to be what gyms are for. This man does not represent LA fitness is a good light at all.

Most Ghetto gym I’ve been to. The equipment/machines are dusty, old, and unkempt. The carpet is raggedy, the music is bad, and there aren’t any hot girls. Definitely not coming back.

Overall, the gym is just okay. The staff are, there. The perfect time to go is first thing in the morning. The morning crowd gets their workout in, and then they leave. Also, the cleanest time to go. My biggest problem with this gym is the crowd. By noon, you can see the carelessness and disrespect of some of the members. The gym/locker room is usually littered with trash (empty water bottles, paper towel, newspaper, dirty towels left everywhere), yoga mats and weights scattered everywhere. Seems to be more of a hangout spot during the day more than a gym. Long story short; okay gym, good staff, and some disrespectful members.

I have never seen a gym in worst condition than this in my life. Me and my husband used the 3 day free pass and we couldn't get out of there quick enough. Disgusting doesn't even begin to describe the condition of this place. The machines are stained from sweat and god knows what, rusted and there is layers of dust and mold on them. The carpet is all stained and who knows when it was last deep cleaned. I will let the photos speak for themselves but you really have to be there to experience what we experienced. For a gym that calls themselves "signature" and has the nerve to charge as much as they do, this is a robbery. Whoever owns this establishment should be ashamed of themselves for taking peoples money. There is absolutely NO excuse to neglect a gym to this level of filth, whoever runs this place clearly doesn't care. I have never wanted to leave a gym so quick in my life. You are better off paying half the price and going to the planet fitness across the street, they clean that place all day. AS A GYM SHOULD!!!!!! Do not give this establishment money they need to be shutdown.

I've been a member of various fitness centers over the years, but my experience at LA Fitness truly stands out because of the wonderful staff member Joseph. He is not just any ordinary gym employee; he embodies kindness, professionalism, and an unwavering willingness to help. Every time I have a query or need assistance, Joseph goes above and beyond to ensure I'm taken care of. His positive demeanor makes my visits even more enjoyable, and I truly appreciate the difference he makes. If you ever have the privilege of being assisted by Joseph, you'll quickly understand what I mean. Thank you, LA Fitness, for having such a gem on your team!
