We used the rooftop hot spring soaking tub. It is lovely to be open to the stars at night. The space is private enough to go clothing optional. The rooftop space could use a bit more intention for the ambiance. The staff was very helpful and kind. After our soak we asked to see the indoor soaking space. The person helping us not only showed us the indoor soaking pools but also told us the history of the building including where the name came from. Ask about it! It was fun to learn about it.

The online photos are so far from capturing the greatness of this place. The rooms are worth more than what you pay for. The gift shop creates peaceful vibes. The roof top soaks are unforgettable. The staff is easy to connect with. The spa is healing. I've already recommended this place to several of my friends, and plan to make this my getaway when I need a break from the grind. Also, it's located near the heart of downtown and makes everything very walkable!!

Stopped by a few other bath houses before choosing this one and was very glad we picked The Charles. Marilyn the attendant was wonderful, extremely welcoming and the place was very beautiful with wonderful smelling goodies, plants, and ambient peaceful music. We rented a private rooftop tub for the great price of $25! The older tubs inside were very unique, vintage tiled tubs with a comfortable changing room. The vibe was right at this place (not all the bathhouses I checked out were particularly friendly or fully functional).

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The young lady at the front desk told us all we needed to know about the hotel itself, itโ€™s history, the hot springs, and the restaurants etc nearby. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a private soak on the rooftop for a fair price, and both also enjoyed our free daily soaks. The room was very clean, and had everything we needed. The bed was large and comfortable with clean sheets. Also the kitchen had a fridge, microwave, coffee press etc. My only con(?) is that we had booked a southwestern style room, but got a moon themed room. This did not prove to be a major inconvenience as the moon room was very nice, just not what we had expected. I would highly recommend the Charles; good location, friendly and helpful staff, and clean!

Been coming here since I was six years old. The Charles is like a second home. Always interesting people coming in and out. The only hot springs tubs that are able to be cleaned in between customers, which, is noteworthy considering the array of bodies that can roll in and out of the shared waters at other hot springs establishments in TorC... The only rooftop hot tub Jacuzzis in town and very reasonably priced. I've frequented the rooms but never actually stayed in them. They're all getting amazing upgrades, surely to appeal the aesthetic tastes of many a weary traveler.

Man what a cool place. Cool people. Relaxing. On our 2k mile road trip this has been our best stay yet. Tons of characters. We feel so bad because we tried to cook some pot pies in the oven and burnt them. Setting off the alarm. It was a debacle. But they were super nice. I would recommend the stay. Also I'm a bigger person. The tubs look small online. I was worried I wouldn't fit. No problem. They are much bigger in person. I think anyone under 450lbs could fully submerged. The privacy is nice too. I like going to hot springs. Hate people staring at me. This worked well.

It's been 3+ years since I've stayed at the Charles so it's time for a new review. Things have changed as there is a new owner and many changes for the better. We had an extended stay in Room 5 (the "Mid century Mystic"), a lovely, quiet room. There is a very comfortable king sized bed, a sofa and two comfortable chairs for watching TV. There is also a large walk-in closet (with a bureau) along with the kitchenette with a full sized stove and a smaller, two door fridge and a dining table. The room has a french press coffeemaker, a kettle and a basic set of dishes/cooking supplies. The bath has a deep tub (though NOT using the hot spring water) and a rainfall shower head. This is a dog-friendly room. There is coffee at the front desk also. The motel has grass and nice trees in front of most of the rooms and a nice little grove of trees behind, which the dogs enjoyed (very clean-please pick up your dog's deposits!) Two minutes walk is Outer Edge Pizza. Their Marguarite pizza is quite tasty. Conveniently across the street from the motel is Bullock's, a full service grocery store. It's a very short walk to Truth Or Consequences Brewery and other restaurants. Now the reason why we go to the Charles is the hot springs. There are two sides, East and West. They've redone the baths on the East side. Since the baths are all gender neutral, on the new side the dividers between the baths go to the floor and there are solid, latching wood doors with lovely tile work. The West baths are still the original ones, almost a century old. They will be refurbished also. I like the older side since there are handicap handrails on both sides of each tub-safer for me. The baths are cleaned after each use and immaculate. As I mentioned above, parts of the Charles are almost a century old and the property does show its age, but the owner has already made many improvements with more on the way. There is now a resident artist program where artists can stay in exchange for twenty hours of creativity a week. There are also yoga classes, massages and other services available, along with a darling gift shop. Good wifi, also. But what really makes the Charles shine are the people, especially Marilyn, Avi, Joanna and Bill! This is a charming small town with super nice folk and we so enjoyed our stay here!

Wonderful large room with unique decor. Lobby is beautiful. The baths are excellent and private so no need for a bathing suit. Air conditioning works well in the summer desert heat. Easy to walk through town and grocery right across the street.

I like the low key vibe here. Iโ€™ve stopped twice recently for a walk-in, no problem getting a tub. Water is a good temp. There is an outdoor tub recommended upstairs.

On a search for hot springs on a very long road trip, we searched far and wide. I thought โ€œTruth or Consequencesโ€ was the name of a magazine, not a town. Charles Motel and Hot Springs had one rooftop tub left and one room left available, so my partner and I took both. Alex led us upstairs to a dimly lit patio where we watched the stars come out in a beautifully warm tub. It was romantic and soothing, especially after driving over 2000 miles. We slept soundly that night and awoke to winds over 28 miles an hour, putting a damper on our trip, so we decided to stay another night. Marilyn was more than accommodating to put us up in a new room, and give us robes for our stay. We hung out around town all day then soaked again before bed. I cannot say enough good things about Charles Hot Springs. Marilyn I found was a kindred spirit, and I feel like I made a new friend on our journey. If Iโ€™m ever back in TorC, I will make it my duty to stay here again. Thank you all so much for everything.

Really nice and very clean room. Hot springs hot tub was fun. We did learn it was small and 5 of us was a squeeze, but we made it work. Nice and helpful staff. We would definitely stay again.

Wow! These rooms are the cutest! Very cozy for a couple, the rooms are pretty big, decorated very nicely. Iโ€™ve never used a French press before. I had to ( YouTube) how to use it, I learned something new. The mineral tub was absolutely completely and totally relaxing, the day was warm so the hot water was really warm, my body enjoyed the 1 1/2 hr soak so much. The soak area is very private, I felt secure and was able relax! I will be back and very soon!

I donโ€™t post a lot of hotel reviews but this place was so wonderful that I felt the need to. The hospitality could not be beat. I forgot my yoga mat and was invited to borrow one for free. My husband, child, and I all wanted to soak indoors and since no one else was using the menโ€™s side at the time they let us all use the same side which was so nice. The mineral springs bath itself left my hair feeling like silk. Our kitchen had everything we needed to make dinner and the beds were comfortable. Right across the street is a grocery store. The eco-friendly vibe of our lodging made me feel comfortable and relieved. Itโ€™s an old motel with lots of charm and clearly the owners are in a one-step-at-a-time process of renovating (while still staying true to the historic value of the place). Most important of all, our room was very clean. We have already booked another stay as this visit was very good for our mental and physical health. :)

Neat little place to stay and have access to hot spring water. Nothing fancy about the place, just a clean place to stay. They have 1 person tubs and 2-4 person private jetted tub up in the roof, the hot spring water is pumped up and valve manually fed into the tub. Although it doesn't have a legit "hot spring feel and look to it" the water is natural thermal water. Lastly there aren't many places to go "out" to eat late or past 5pm. Most places close by 5-6pm. Might have to drive to a fast food place if you get some late night cravings.

What a gem this place is! We loved it here so much! The room was so cozy with a kitchen and a deliciously comfortable king size bed. We had the retro room. I loved the sheets. It could use a few more kitchen utensils and dishes but I appreciated the stainless steel pot and pan. No Teflon!! The tubs in the men and women areas were such a delight. They are deep and the music really enhances the experience. We tried the hot tub at night on the roof. Well you just can't beat that. The store is full of things you want to buy. But of course Marylin and Alex made our stay! They were always available and kind. This is a work in progress because it is awesome old school. Please hang in there because this country needs to hang in to these beautiful relics. You have a really great thing going and we just can't wait to come back and soak it all out. Hugs!!

Great customer service, the receptionist was superb, room was ok, the hot tubs on the roof are worth the small extra fee. Needs some maintenance (jacuzzi didnโ€™t work- city permit taking forever they said), other nuisances could use some elbow-grease work. It is however, a nice getaway to enjoy with a significant one or two.

What a great place. Roof top tubs are so wonderful with great views. Peaceful and relaxing. Great service and welcoming vibe. If the other tubs are being used you may have to wait a short time to run the water.

A very nice spot for a weekend getaway! The rooms are spacious and really well decorated (and come with a kitchen!) and the hour-long soak thatโ€™s included for each day you stay was super relaxing! Itโ€™s also within walking distance of a lot of shops and restaurants, making it a lot easier to check out the town while youโ€™re there!

I LOVE this charming little roadside hotel! It is pure Americana from days gone by with a splash of new age vibe. If you're looking for luxe, this isn't it... it's vintage both in looks and amenities and therein lies its appeal. The rooms are spacious and individually decorated with kitchenettes. The mineral soak is hot and relaxing while the private rooftop hot tubs are great fun for stargazing at night (reserve when you check in.) Front desk service is friendly and efficient. Overall, this place is a great value and we look forward to watching it evolve over time. ๐Ÿ˜€

My wife and I had a lovely one-night stay at the Charles, complete with a very relaxing soak in the rooftop tub in the morning. The staff was pleasant and welcoming, and there were no issues at all. The place is ideally situated right on the main drag of T or C, so it's very easy to wander around and enjoy what else the town has to offer. Highly recommend!

Great little place to soak your bones. Even though the ladies and the gents are separated. I wished I knew this when I booked an early Valentine's day getaway. The staff is friendly and it will show you how to use all the facilities. In room French coffee press and it's centrally located to all the ships and restaurants.

Attention families with little ones (children under 12): The Charles Hot Springs and Spa is for you! Like literally, this is one of the few places in town that will welcome you and your family. But beyond that very important detail, this hotel is lovely and clean. The rooms are large and a reasonable rate. The folks running the place are kind and accommodating. The grocery store (and dispensary) across the street was very convenient. 10/10, highly recommend.

Nice and quiet. The room was cute The soak was excellent. I was overdue for the therapy, and I felt so much better after the soak. This on is different from the ones where I live. There is NO Sulphur smell in the Charles hot springs water! Can't wait to return here again!

This place was absolutely adorable and the service and ammenities were great. We stayed in the Mid-Century Mystic room which is a treat for anyone that loves 70s decor. The rooftop tubs are a special spot for a romantic evening under the stars. We will definitely be staying again.

Great rooms. The baths just got updated and they are absolutely beautiful. We frequent this place for gifts, snacks, and hot baths. It's great to see time, energy, and money invested in a small business. The owner is doing things right.

A true historic treasure! Super cute motel, you can tell they are pouring love into it as they continue renovating and updating. Staff here are outstanding. Alex and Marilyn were gracious and helpful and worked to ensured that our stay was smooth and enjoyable. We got the Wilder West room, it was spacious and comfortable. The hot mineral springs (included) were warm, soothing and fun. Can't wait to return!
