I recently stayed here with my family and a group of friends and we had a wonderful time! Justin and Kaori were so welcoming and helpful the entire time, from serving drinks to shuttling people to/from the ski slopes to helping us send our ski gear home so we didn`t have to lug it on the train. The atmosphere at the lodge is comfortable and cozy - the fire was always going in the common area and it was a great place to hang out with our friends and make new ones as well. Kaori`s food is delicious - traditional Japanese food with a creative/local/healthy spin. I would eat the green soup she served at breakfast everyday if I could! I can`t recommend Onpoint Madarao enough and look forward to returning soon.

I had a great time staying and working at Onpoint for two weeks. I helped serve food and washed dishes and spent much of the day snowboarding. I would say the highlight was Kaori’s food, which is not only nutritional but delicious, but to be honest the best part of my experience was getting to feel like part of a family. Kaori and Justin make everyone feel like they’re family from the moment you meet them. The guests were also always friendly and fun to get to know. I plan on returning to work there again in the future. 😊

A Delightful Getaway with Warm Hosts, Adorable Pets, and Delicious Hamburgers! My recent stay at Onpoint hosted by Justin and Kaori was an absolute delight from start to finish! From the moment I arrived, I felt like I was visiting old friends rather than staying at a lodge because I was visiting an old friend at his lodge. But with that said, the personal touch and warmth they provided truly made the experience unforgettable. The first thing that catches your attention are their two adorable dogs, who greet you with wagging tails and lots of enthusiasm. If you are a pet lover, it is a heartwarming welcome into a magical place that feels like home. Friendly company of furry companions. The food served at the lodge deserves a special mention as well. The hamburgers they prepared were mouthwatering and perfectly cooked. The ingredients were fresh, the bread is home baked and you can taste the love and care that goes into preparing the meals. Deciding on which burger to pick was like trying to solve an algebra equation with burgers instead of variables, but unlike algebra class, there is no right or wrong answer. They are all amazing! Be sure to order the extra toppings! The rooms were cozy and inviting, providing a comfortable retreat after a day filled with exploration and adventure to the local hospital. Make sure to bring some river shoes if you are planning to go to the lake to avoid stepping on sharp stones. If you're looking for a memorable and positive experience, I wholeheartedly recommend staying at this lodge hosted by Justin and Kaori. The combination of warm hospitality, delightful pets, scrumptious food, and cozy rooms makes it a truly special place. I can't wait to return for another visit in the future!

Our trip to Onpoint Madarao was the best trip I have ever had. We stayed in the standard double room with an ensuite bath and it was the perfect space if we just wanted some peaceful quiet time. The hotel had a warm, very friendly atmosphere and I most enjoyed just sitting by the fireplace chatting or having a drink with the other guests. The food was amazing and Kaori is an exceptional chef. She was able to accommodate our group's dietary restrictions both gluten free and vegetarian. It was so special being able to have everyone enjoy a home cooked meal together. The lodge was also very well situated from the Madarao ski resort; close enough to walk if we wanted to but also far enough away to just sit and enjoy the stars. We can’t wait to plan our next trip to Onpoint Madarao!

We had an unforgettable stay at Onpoint Madarao in early February 2023. With plenty of fresh snowfall on arrival, we knew we were in for a treat. The owners, Justin and Kaori, were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel like part of the family. Snowboarding at Madarao was awesome, with next-to-no wait times for lifts and plenty of runs for all levels to explore. Most of the time, we could ride right on to the next lift after finishing a run, without having to wait at all. We also loved our first experience of snowshoeing in the forest surrounding the lodge and the snowy views from our room each morning. The lodge is very stylishly decorated and has everything you need for a relaxing stay. We loved the open-plan layout with an open fire and comfy sofas, perfect for relaxing and chatting over a drink after a great day out on the mountain. The cinema room with its unique circular ‘horigotatsu’ style seating area was also great for relaxing and a safe haven for our young child to play in. The freshly prepared, healthy food that we had during our stay was all delicious, especially the freshly baked bread and veg soups. Onpoint Madarao truly lived up to its name, in all aspects.
Thanks again for a great stay, Justin and Kaori. We hope to come back again soon!

A big thank you to Justin and Kaori for their warm hospitality and delicious food during our family's stay at Onpoint Madarao. The room was comfortable, the fire always going and the location was quiet - perfect for a good night's sleep. And after a day on the slopes, the craft beer vending machine was a hit! The snowshoes at the front door were a good reminder to visit the nearby forest as well, and walking on fresh powder to the lake, was a workout and quite beautiful. We'll be back in the green season to check out the burgers everyone keeps talking about!

My family had a wonderful stay at Onpoint Madarao. The lodge was incredibly comfortable, clean, and convenient. Justin and Kaori were incredibly friendly. We ate breakfast at the lodge every day and Justin was kind enough to make a special breakfast for our 2 year old. Their kindness started well before our trip with Justin providing me advice on winter tires and snow chains and continued long after our stay when they helped me with shipping my ski gear back to Tokyo. We went with another family and we all had a great time. We plan to go back again in the future.

What a special place, amazing host, beautiful rooms and stunning location. They say this place is great in winter, but spring/summer time was perfect for my stay to relax after the hustle and bustle of Tokyo. Can't wait to get back out there !
