Jewelry store Rock shop Lapidary

😠 I used to love this shop. I've spent a lot of money here on numerous visits. Today, I spent hundreds of dollars and one item was a slab that needs a stand. Previously, the man who owns the store gave me stands for all purchases that required one. When I got home I realized she didn't include a stand... People often mention rock, shop,

I used to love this shop. I've spent a lot of money here on numerous visits. Today, I spent hundreds of dollars and one item was a slab that needs a stand. Previously, the man who owns the store gave me stands for all purchases that required one. When I got home I realized she didn't include a stand. I called them and was told by the woman owner that I'd have to pay for one. I also purchased a pendant that was displayed with a chain. I thought, because it was displayed this way I was getting a necklace. It should have been clarified that the chain was separate since I clearly stated I wanted the "necklace" but most especially they lost what would have been a lifetime customer over insisting I pay for an $11 stand. The attitude from her could have been so much better. Instead of saying, "I'm so sorry that wasn't clear to you" she says "well we can't do that, you have to buy a stand" and regarding the necklace, her response was "if you want to return the pendant you have to do it today!" instead of "sorry, but if you like the chain it is....$$." With an apology I probably would have returned and purchased the chain and maybe even the stand. But, if I were the owner I would have eaten the $11.

Really nice place but when I asked the lady questions, I felt like she was getting frustrated/rolling her eyes and sighing. They have a few nice thing but inventory was low. I want to spend my money where I feel wanted. Though I did like the dog...

What a great shop! They've got some displays in the front and some rough gems you can look through off to the side (indoors). Bought a beautiful rough chunk of velvet Tourmaline at a very affordable price. Will definitely go back again in the future! The owners were super friendly and even took some extra time to help me identify a few gems I'd purchased elsewhere.

I was running errands the other day, and drove past... Total impulse stop in, I simply had to check the place out. A year ago, I had purchased a quality rock tumbler online as a gift for my son (7 years old, anything science, or artistic related, he's big into!) I'm simply glad I did. I was greeted by an adorable resident dog, and friendly owner. My type of place from the start. "Feel free to browse, but if I can help answer anything...?" Explained that I saw the lapidary sign, kiddo is into all types of science, and asked if they had any raw stuff that might be fun in a rock tumbler. Made mention that local business is the best. "Absolutely! In the back, follow me!" Not huge, but really great selection of raw stone in bins, priced at per stone or by the pound. Owner pointed out the best ones to put in a rock tumbler, and loved the fact you can just select a few that might end up pretty. Though I left the store with a handful of rocks at an honest price, also left happy with the experience... They had display cases galore, finished stones and raw ones, jewelery, ... I may have left the first time with a ~10$ purchase, but I will return with my son. Totally a place to find something beautiful for hard to shop for friends. Very positive experience!

I went to this lapidary a few weeks ago and it wasn’t the positive, majestic experience I usually have when going to such places. The second I walked in the door, a large dog started aggressively barking at me, which really startled me. The only woman working made the excuse that she was a rescue dog..okay, so I’m the one who should feel bad? If you have a dog that is easily triggered, maybe don’t allow them into your place of business where they can potentially scare off customers. Overall, the woman’s demeanor towards me was rude and uncomfortable. It seemed that my very presence was disturbing her or something. I inquired about a few different stones I was looking for and she looked at me like I had six heads. It seemed like she didn’t know much about what she was selling. I was as nice to her as I possibly could be. I’m almost disgusted with myself by the level of ingratiating I became to elicit some semblance of kindness out of her, but she’s a lost cause. I put aside my social anxiety to be kind to others, why can’t you? I wouldn’t recommend this business.

After seeing the kind of stuff they had for sale online, I tried to offer them some of my very diverse minerals that were in various states of raw to cut/slabbed to polished. While not everything that I had was on the same caliber as their "top shelf" stuff, the majority of it was a bit nicer than their raw materials. Despite this, they turned their noses up at it and were very rude and snooty towards me. Clearly, they consider themselves to be better than working class people, I would not recommend them to anyone. ***Updated review*** The reply from this establishment further shows the arrogance and rudeness I referred to. However, after talking to some locals, they all told me the same thing: "Don't take it personally, they're like that with everyone." I don't care that they refused to buy my merchandise, (of which they did not bother to examine all of it, they judged the lot of it by the 'old canvas bag' they were in) it's the handling of the situation that irked me. Good manners go a long way, the absence of them can be damning.

Website was set up very nicely. They had a nice variety. The prices were a bit higher than I was looking for and they didn’t have the items I was looking for. Not their fault though. Still a very nice website.

Absolutely awesome experience! It was my first time even seeing this place. When i walked in I was greated when I came in by the woman occupying the shop. She made small talk with me and helped me look for some stones i was looking for. I was also greeted by the shop dog! She was such a sweetheart! I let her smell my hand because i wanted to pet but she sniffed and wagged her tail then went an laid down behind the counter! I was able to find all i was lookong for and at an awesome price as well! Definitely will be returning! Thank you guys! You ROCK!
