This is an insanely awesome place to hang. Great vibes, decent coffee, and love the hours (open until midnight). 10/10.

Eclectic, exceptional, and eccentric. You must visit for their unique coffee recipes. Don't expect anything from the location or the staff or the creepy customers that hang out for hours. It's old, dirty, and smells weird, but the coffees are some the best you can get anywhere. Try the Black Widow.

I've always liked this place with good drinks and funky little nooks and crannies to sit and talk. This last time I went I was with a friend talking and we were there late at night. We were caught up in our conversation and I guess they announced they were closing but we didn't hear it. Then we hear one of the employees really loudly saying how rude people are that don't leave when they have been told that the place is closing. It was super shocking to us how he was yelling and it was really uncomfortable to us when we just didn't know. They could have just said "sorry guys we're closing." It was super awkward that we got yelled at and called rude. It left a really bad impression on me so I'm not sure I'll be going back anytime soon since at least one employee treats their customers like we're horrible people (over a simple miscommunication). Bad form. Could have been handled way better.

Used to be the Safehouse, and it still offers the hospitality, relaxed environment, cozy facility, and the warmth that only a solid brew of coffee can offer. Their been changes monthly and sometimes even have the previous months blend, if you ask. Cool upstairs area, patio, and local bulletin keeps the vibe intimate yet private if you just want a drink and work on you laptop.

Great place with a very cool, quirky vibe! I am not a coffee drinker but stopped in with 2 connoisseurs of coffee who absolutely love this place. I ordered a hot chocolate, Ryan made the best cup of hot chocolate for me!! The staff is extremely friendly & knowledgeable about their product and patient. Stop in, you will not be disappointed and will likely find your new favorite coffee joint!

This place reminds me of the divey Seattle coffee shops I used to hang out in when I was a youth. Those are all gone now, but somehow I've rediscovered that same vibe in Black Crown Coffee. Only in the desert. I'm into it and will be back.

Favorite coffee place in town! Forget your annoying Instagram crowd and burnt-coffee flavored sugar beverage (lookin' at you starbys). This is a grungy little shop (in the best way) with a great selection of boardgames up in the loft and fantastic coffee. They also have a few pastries if you need a snack.

This place is satanic, you don’t believe me? go look in their bathroom where they have a big sticker on the mirror saying “ All must write slayer ( which is the devil) on their forearm before leaving the bathroom“ Also their drinks have satinst names such as: “ over-lord, breast milk, etc” The menu has a picture of the devil for everyone to see ! If this is not outrageous I do not know what is ! If you love God do not go there, great energy !

Breastmilk coffee is my absolute favorite! I have yet to taste anything else like it. Such tasty coffee! I just wish that they actually did "light" ice when requested. I never care to pay more for it. I dislike too much ice in my coffee. Regardless, this will always be a gem!

You won't find any other place like this in Tucson! Not only is the coffee good, but this is a place that is outside of home, work and shopping. This is what's called a third place, aka a place for people to simply meet & hang out (if you buy a coffee of course!) This place is a safe haven for studying college students, young professionals and freethinkers alike. Think of coffee shops from the Netherlands, France, and other parts of Europe. This place is directly reminiscent of those places. We need more places like black crown. America doesn't have enough places that are built simply as meeting/hangout spot, and that's why I really appreciate this place. I should also mention it is very cozy here! The atmosphere doesn't feel like a business, it feels very homemade, very relaxed, like you're hanging out in your friends backyard. Last thing I should mention is there is $1 refills on any size drip coffee, so you can drink to your heart's content! Seriously, if you're a young student or professional who appreciates community-oriented spaces, then you have to check this place out.

There’s a reason for the recent one star reviews. The coffee is good but service is shockingly slow and the music is terrible. Gives off a major “we are anarchists” vibe. Good coffee though, wish it was a drive through.

Have been coming here frequently. It is a great coffee shop where you can enjoy the coffee, tea, or whatever other option that fancies you that they have to offer. I typically get the iced chai tea which seems to be my go to. If you have work to do, want yo get out of your house to study in a different environment, or simply want a place to relax or chat with friends this is nice cozy place to come to. The upstairs is nice too.

Me and my husband met here 4 years ago. The staff is great we love their service anc coffee and original latte creations. Some of the best quality coffee in tucson.

I love that this place is open late. Pastries are always yummy 😋 and I can never go wrong with Lg iced , Breast Milk....add a dash of cinnamon. I've ordered 2 at a time before a long shift. 🙃

I came across this coffee shop at the recommendation of the hotel I was staying at. The vibe, energy, and coffee is great. I especially appreciate Nick as one of the barista. His positive energy is incredible.

The parking lot is TERRIBLE. A great chasm actually open in front of my sprinter van as I pulled into my parking spot. I and my dog and my van fell down a deep hole that opened up into another dimension. The coffee in this world is MUCH superior to that of your world. The Chai tastes better here as well. No one smokes and the air is clean! Another unfortunate part of this ordeal is that I had to call my boyfriend from your world for my vehicle to be airlifted back. Extremely costly. 5 star parking lot.

My absolute favorite coffee shop. They have great options, friendly staff, a welcoming environment and great alt vibes. The Tarheel is an all time fave! My only hope is that they get more pastry options, which I've heard they might be. It's a great place to sit and read our catch up with a friend and the 2nd story is very cozy.

OK here me out. They don't have the best coffee. They are by no mean the best priced. But boy do they know how to create a mood! The lighting is great, especially for those late night study sessions. And if you go out front to smoke a cigarette you are sure to fine people down to chat. The music is great, the seating is comfortable, and the coffee drinkable. What more can you ask for? 6/10 coffee...10/10 in my heart.

When I visited Tucson last year, Black Crown was my safe place. I sat for hours (buying drinks every couple hours!) working remotely, playing video games, making playlists. The booths are cozy, and I especially loved the upstairs loft hangout space. Everyone is super nice, and the coffee was really good! If I lived in Tucson I would be there every day. Count yourself lucky if you get to check this place out!

Really cool, eclectic atmosphere (much better work place than starbuscks!). Delicious drinks. And just a fun place to work and enjoy your daily buzz. Would recommend wearing layers as it can get a little chilly inside or perhaps I was just sitting under the vent. Love it.

Service was excellent and by far, the comfy atmosphere combined with the free Wi-Fi makes for an excellent spot to meet up with friends or chill independently. I got the small mint tea, which was alright, though a little too bitter for my liking, prompting a 4/5 for me. Noticing the menu though, the prices are very reasonable for a restaurant and lower than I expected. I still enjoyed this establishment despite the tea and would consider returning.

Delicious coffee

Excellent coffee. Had a hot Black Widow. Good amaretto flavor. Also a cold white chocolate and caramel(forgot what is is called). Very good. Nice inside with two stories, games, a patio. We rode our bikes and they have a rack to lock them to. Will be back.

Always a great experience at Black Crown. The specialty drinks are full of flavor and never have an "artificial" taste like other coffee shops do at times. Staff is always polite and quick to make drinks, they're great to ask for a recommendation too! Parking can be tight, but overall this is one of the coolest looking coffee shops in Tucson with the two story structure and dark wood.

I've been coming here for a good while now. I literally got married in the back. It's my home away from home. Favorite place to go. Great music, amazing drinks and some of the friendliest faces behind the counter. If you can find a chair take it and relax with the many others you find doing the same. Even the people here are very friendly costumer wise.

Favorite coffee shop in town! Coffee is delicious, staff is always friendly without being inavsive, and it's the perfect atmosphere to read, write, or hang out in after a long week.

Open late and a safe haven. There's a homey feeling to the place. A spiral staircase that leads up to the loft, a couch, games, outdoor seating. The place is plastered with posters about local events and community resources. Formerly known as Safehouse.

Very good coffee and atmosphere. One of my favorite coffee shops in Tucson. Parking is not great, but there's additional parking on the other side of Korea House restaurant.

Fun ambience, open late, and has reasonably priced options! I was cheap and just got the hot, prickly pear tea, but it was quite nice. Also, unlimited free hot water for my tea bag (which is nice if you like to get every last drop out of your tea) and if I had wanted more tea bags for "refills" it was just a dollar per each new bag. Very reasonable.

First time visit but the lack of sanitation has made me decide to never go back. If you go definitely pay attention when they are making your drinks.

Tucson... isn't my favorite city. However, among all of the street-racing and run-down spots, there's Black Crown Coffee, a real gem of a coffee stop. I visited 10 or 12 times throughout the summer, and had the opportunity to try a variety of drinks. My favorite, like everybody else, was the Tarheel--a delicious, fattening sweet, but not too sweet, espresso drink. If you're looking to spend a little less, they offer Americanos, iced or hot, for less than $3 and they'll add some half-and-half on top for free. Their vibe is great, and their study/hangout spaces are great too. Highly recommend this place, I'll be back any time I visit the city.

Black Crown is a wonderful atmosphere with really good coffee at reasonable coffee shop prices. Their specialty drinks are so good! Comfy seating upstairs, booths, tables, and much more. Outlets for laptops and chargers everywhere so you can settle in and really get work done! If you like light, sweet, and frosty coffee, I recommend the Spork drink!

Probably one of the best/cutest coffee shops I've been too in a long time. The aesthetics of this place is a young adult/college student paradise. I tried the Turbo Coke (espresso + coke) out of pure curiosity and let me tell you, not only was it deliciously interesting, but its true to its name. I started drinking this baby at 11pm, I am writing this review at 2:50am completely wide awake. The perfect drink for an all-nighter!

I liked this place a lot! Really cool set up and I loved the loft upstairs. It's a great place to grab a coffee and study for the next exam with your peers. My coffee was perfect, the barista was so kind and gave me some great recommendations on the menu. The only reason it's not 5 stars for me was the price. It's a bit expensive, but I would definitely go back again.

Awesome coffee shop with super knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was there tonight and the barista heard me ask if the muffins up front were vegan (they were not) but before she made my drink she called me over to let me know the drink I had ordered was not 100% vegan because the chai they use has honey so she suggested some other drinks on the menu , i went with black widow and it was delicious! She said to let her know if I didnt like it so she could come up with another drink for me, which was so thoughtful. The black widow was so tasty though so there was no need but I really appreciate her letting me know about the ingredients and offering suggestions.

It's not a bad place, but parking is really, really difficult. It's hard to back out onto Speedway, and the only other option is to find your way out through a dirt road. It's ideal if you ride a motorcycle or a bike. Nice wooden interior, relatively quiet, too, if you go there to get things done online.

Good, but way to small.

This place has quite literally never been cleaned. Filthy floors and tables. I saw more than one cockroach in the less than ten minutes I was there. It’s hot and smells like BO from all the homeless people who loiter there and smoke all day. They have NEVER passed an inspection by the health department. Coffee was luke warm and WAY too sweet. Likely contributes to the toothlessness of patrons. Actually that is probably mostly meth. GROSS
