ALWAYS enjoy our stay at Agave Gulch. Still befuddled that Wi-Fi doesn't work. Location, convenience, camaraderie of veterans is hard to beat..AND then there is the view....

Spent 4 nights at Boneyard Vista on Davis Monthan Air Force Base, and my wife and I thought it was one of the nicest campgrounds we'd stay in since starting our trip on Sept 1, 2022. (we've seen a lot of campgrounds). The old campground is across from the new sites, and the old simply has dirt roads and older hookups. The new side has paved roads, gravel sites, a nice little dog park, and a whole bunch of basic campsites without hookups. Staff is friendly, the whole area is nice and clean, it's quiet, and you have a tremendous view of all the airplanes packed away for storage on the base. If you get a chance I suggest getting a site on the ends of the rows in the new campground; they have a little more space with nice landscaping and plants.

Nice well groomed camp. Super big!! We got there JUST after the crowd left so no problem getting a site. There is plenty of airplane noise but we kind of enjoy the different military aircraft. Close to BX and commissary. You can stay here up to six month paying up front. No break on price. Just reserved you a spot for that long. Lots of long termers here.

Super pretty area. Everything was laid out nicely. The dump station was easy to get to. Check in at the main building and pay the fees.

Good: Friendly staff, Nice long spaces, mostly quiet, stay up to 5 months, clean, close to shopping, commissary had what we needed Bad: Stickers in dog's feet, rock makes it hard to get stabilizers to be stable, so rig rocks when you walk. Someone stole the pull arm on our black tank while we were gone...really? We would stay again. I guess there are thieves everywhere.

Stayed in overflow which had no hookups. Bathrooms are a bit dated but clean enough. $15 to park for the night with no electricity is a bit high but the site was large and flat with gravel. Can’t judge the full hookup side since there was none available. They look a bit tight. Fort Sam is ideal spacing for me if you’ve ever been. Stars are based off of cost since you really get nothing but parking. If there is a waiting list you have to wait for someone to leave in full hookup before you can switch over. You must stay in overflow until this happens. The gate nearest to the park is closed, use the next gate down.

Very crowded Famcamp. We are in the Overflow area. The WiFi is very unreliable. Cell coverage is good. The bathrooms are nice. WARNING: The gate nearest the Famcamp that Google tries to route you through is for outgoing traffic only.

Its OK. I was expecting better for an Airforce Base. Only a few trees. They do have a lot of spots. Almost 200. You get to see the A-10 Warthog's flying around. A plane grave yard near by. The "Dog area" is just a drainage ditch. But, for $24 a night. . . . It will do.

This place is run down. Cracked and broken cement pads, utility hookups in the back center of the concrete pads, the free coffee is removed from the day room when staff is not in, staff are clueless, absolutely zero activities planned by the staff, power pedestals damaged and falling over, rules and regulations never enforced, speeding traffic, vehicles do not stop for you in the crosswalk. I could go on and on. The only positive is the price. Seems almost all customers have noticed the park continuing to get worse every year.

QUIET! Level sites, clean restrooms and laundry rooms. Staff is friendly and smiles. If you love walking, this Famcamp is walker friendly! Commissary and Exchange are huge! We line in our 31' toy hauler and have plenty of room to open the garage/patio, park the truck and the "toy"!

Stopped by on our way from Pennsylvania to San Diego...knowledgeable staff who are very organized and common areas were clean. Dry camped, kind of a disappointment that many full hook up spots were empty even though the front desk said they were full. It is very evident that some campers have been there for months, as their spots looked like a trailer park. Plenty or dry camping spots. Would definitely visit again.

More on the pricey side of FamCamps - Agave Gulch does have some perks and some weaknesses. Some perks are: great staff, good location, tons of areas to walk dogs, dog park, dog wash area, and free coffee 24/7. Some cons include: sketchy, and some services like coin machines stay out-of-order for extended periods of time. The situation is first come first served; however, there are plenty of dry spots to stay in until a spot opens with full service. Been here during the busiest time and the dry camp never fills up so the no reservation thing should not scare you - just be patient. Overall good location trumps the aging amenities.

Staff was friendly and accommodating. We needed a tent site and there are a few with shade trees. The bathrooms are clean, and we had hot showers. We didn’t use the laundry facilities, but there is a laundry room on site. It is safe. Would recommend this to military passing through looking for a place to stay the night. Base facilities nearby.

Nice site for military personnel and their guests. Pet friendly. Lots of drive through sites. 30 & 50 amp hook ups available. Camp area, laundry facilities, dog wash, clean restrooms, free ice, coffee, hot chocolate and cappuccinos! DM AF Base has gas station, cafe, bowling with a sports bar. Other activities too. Non-military can visit, just need a sponsor! :)

Camp does not take reservations, AT ALL, unless you know someone there, then you can get a spot held. We called 30-45 minutes prior to arrival, we were told there were 5 or 6 open sites, but no you can't put your name on one. Arrived 38 minutes later and were told nothing available. Drove through camp on our way to a GREAT KOA 5 minutes away. Counted 5 or 6 empty sites as we'd drove out?? Hmm, no reservations eh. Too bad 0 stars is not an option

Two stars for the lack of properly updating Google Maps in regards to directions to the park and not renaming Agave Park yet. Trying to get on base and across the base to the park was the most difficult time I have experienced trying to follow Google to a FamCamp. Though Ft Sam Houston tried to send me to a bottle neck dead end. About 20+ sites were also OOC/closed because of water/sewage problems. The staff is off duty during the weekends, and you pay with cash, no change back (so bring ones). Google map your route to the β€œmain gate” and then don’t follow Google through base housing. Head down the main road by the pool. Maybe some base staff people will mark the road as open.

Prices have gone up multiple times, service has gone down. Hours of the office are more limited, closed at night can't access ice. Wifi is still an issue. Staff skipped cleaning the head for 3.5 days and when I reported it to david he was rude and disrespectful. Hopeful it turns around if enough people speak up. Hopeful this post that is 100% accurate is taken as constructive criticism and changes are made. Military members deserve better. If you leave early no refund is given!

The very best fan camp I've been to so far! The people of great, so helpful. Thank you in particular to David who helped get the site situation squared out. Best of health to all and Happy Thanksgiving!

Clean, well maintained sites and facilities. The park was full but there was plenty of dry camping in overflow. Quiet and very level sites. Enjoyed our 2 days.

Davis Monthan AFB access is too difficult. I'm a sponser, traveling with my brother, civilian, who doesn't have a DOD ID card, so we have to go to pass and ID to get him a pass. He has a DL, my last name, doesn't matter, Pass ID line was at least a 30 minute wait. Not sure why access is so difficult at DM, we had etayed at Dyess AFB, Fort Bliss. We did not know if there were any sites available so we left. I'd recommend skipping this Base/ RV park.

Great place to explore Tucson from. Not allot to do on post itself. Office was not really open most of the be time. NO INTERNET.... They say they are working on it. The camp ground needs a pool of its own.

Dry camping now, no hookups available. Large clean campground, nice walking paths and dog park. Laundry, showers available and, again, clean. Everyone we've met thus far is friendly.

Always a great place to stay. We stay here year after year and are very happy with this location. During the Christmas season be prepared to dry camp for a couple of days until a spot opens.

If you wish to use the facility between November and February be aware dry camping may be mandatory so call in advance to see if there are available sites but please keep in mind there are no reservations allowed first come first served with active-duty having priority

Awesome facility! Everything is very clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bathhouse is set up to be easy to use. Add in all the base amenities like the pool, playgrounds, BX, Commissary, carwash , etc., it's the best RV resort I have stayed at to date.

We came to Tucson expecting to stay a week or so and loved it so much here at Agave Gulch we decided to winter here instead of rainy and cold Texas. This famcamp is clean and well maintained. Bathhouses are modern and kept in perfect condition. They offer many many day trips for people to enjoy the area and meet other like minded folks. All around excellent campground!

Hands down the best military FamCamp!!! Awesome customer service, clean restrooms, great sites with plenty of space! Reservations not accepted, and it fills up after Christmas time. Absolutely works stay here again! They even have a dog wash station! Tucson is a beautiful city with a lot to do. Don't miss out on this top rated FamCamp!

Very nice park. Well maintained and nicely run. One of the most pet friendly parks we've stayed at. They have a massive dog park and a pet wash. Everyone was very helpful and professional. This is one of the nicest parks we've ever stayed at.

A clean, well kept camp. There's not a lot of shade so, it can be brutal in the summer sun. Hence, plenty of open spots and plenty of 50 amps sites. It gets a bit crowded in the cooler months though. Long, pull-through sites, with plenty of space between camps. Each site has a concrete pad for your patio area.

Enjoy this Famcamp. Friendly staff, nice sites, clean bathrooms and showers. Expect to stay in drycamp as there is usually a wait for regular sites. I would rate a 5 star except we experienced RVs running generator 16 hours a day. Maybe they should limit generator hours.

Staying in dry camp part. Has a dump and a place to get water. A little noisy because of a city street right next to it. Everyone is nice and courteous from campers to staff. Us a very nice place.

Nice RV site used by many retired servicemembers. Sites are VERY close together. First-come-first- served (so difficult to plan). The office offers info and coffee 24/7. Showers need maintenance.

Great staff, clean and level pull thru sites. No cable but a great many channels on antenna. Full hookups and big rig friendly. There's a bit of city noise and on base too but it's easy to ignore for the benefits of security, location and price

  • 4/5 Navnaz 5 years ago on Google
Great campground. Usually plan on going into dry camping overflow for a week before getting a full hookup. Verizon coverage is weak. One dump station. Events are available if you sign up. A lot of nice veterans.

This was our first stay at the DM Fam Camp. We elected to do a three month contract and we were very happy we did. The campground is very nice, laundry facilities were very clean, and the staff was wonderful. The staff arranged great outings, luncheons, and holiday dinners for us. We will definitely come back next winter. Be advised.... come early. The camp fills fast.

We never got out of dry camping. FHU was full. Parked across from dog park. Dog loved it. Great location to do lots in the area.

  • 5/5 Doug P. 5 years ago on Google
They don't have nearly enough spaces. There are always 40 to 50 people in dry camping waiting to get. The demand is there; it's ridiculous they don't build more sites for RVs.
