The review is from an Egyptian tourist in Torino visiting his own Country treasures 😅. Well the museum is very well designed and everything was very smooth from the entrance to buying a ticket for 18 Euro, to present my own identity to reserve a locker for free to store my bag. Visiting the museum was easy as there is a well designed path to follow from top to bottom following the exact Timeline. Lots of ancient Egyptian goods and monument that I was amazed to find it in Italy due to the Italian excavation of the Italians in egypt while presenting lots of photos for Egyptian workers digging and excavating their own heritage to be presented later on in another country, that felt weird. I'll still give the Museum a well 5 stars away from my political opinion. Loved that most of the explanation cards have English, Italian and Arabic. 👌 And yes it's a must visit.

Must see in Torino; If you like museums, this is definitely a good, very organized and well taken care of. Also the biggest museum about Egypt and it's past outside of Egypt itself. As if the Italians don't have enough great museums yet... here is another one ;)

What a place woaw! You are completely inside the Egyptian history. Visiting the museum gives you more input into what you really can visit and research about Egyptian. The historian and researchers have done an incredible job to remodel many things and conserve them in the museum. A day of visit won't be enough to really enjoy each single piece

(Translated by Google) Sin! A museum that has a great history and a great catalog but that belongs to the past! It is not possible to have such beautiful things that seem only "in the window" i !! It is an "old-fashioned" museum which needs to be renovated !!! It does not transmit emotions, it does not make any experience live, if not the boredom of all this "stuff" exposed. They could take an example from the cinema museum they have nearby. If I add to this the crowd that I found (and that was the only admissible thing given the Christmas holiday period) of this which for me was a myth, a dream to be realized, very little remains ... (Original) Peccato!

Museum was really amazing! We spent 6 hours there and didn’t notice time flying by. The museum displays mummies (people and animals - even a crocodile!), graves, papyrus and much more. There are information spots describing (in Italian and English) everything one would like to learn about Egyptian culture. There is a small cafeteria for those who want to have a snack (food is good and not overpriced). There is also a gift shop which is surprisingly small - we bought our souvenirs elsewhere in downtown.

If you like Egyptian history, you will love this place. There are a lot of things to see and visit in the museum. You have all their rituals and you can even enter the tomb of a pharaoh. It took us about 3 hours to go through the whole museum, but even so we didn't have enough time to read all the explanations for all the exhibits

Mind blowing collection. Would take multiple visits to take it all in and fully appreciate all on offer. Go early so you have plenty of time to experience it all. Slots for entry are timed so best to purchase tickets in advance. Excellent student discounts so remember your card if you have one!

(Translated by Google) One of the most famous museums in Turin and one of the largest collections of Egyptian artifacts in the world (over 30 thousand items). In terms of the number of exhibits, it is comparable to the Louvre and the Berlin Egyptian Museum. The history of the museum dates back to 1630, when the first artifacts from Egypt arrived in Turin. What a beautiful experience, I didn't realise how big and extensive this collection was going to be. The English translations are really well done and available for each object. The toilets were very clean, and the cloakroom was a very useful facility to leave heavy backpacks and fully enjoy the visit.

Fair price for students, only 3 euros, but you should buy tickets in advance. It seemt all very unprofessional and not secured enought for the unique pieces. Also the walk throught the museum wasnt very good signed.I recommend a guided tour because it is really worth it even if the posts with the whole story is well done. There are exhibits of course but the place was so crowded, mostly with school groups that you couldn’t get near anything nor read information labels. We tried walking around but every turn brought yet another raucous school group. It’s impossible to enjoy the museum like this, with the noise and the crowds and the pushing.

What a collection! Easy to follow the directions throughout. Very good explanations in English. We arrived at 11:00 and left about 2:00. School groups were somewhat annoying but you could wait only moments and they moved on. A good time to arrive might be 3:00 since not too many people seemed to be coming in at that time. The final gallery is so beautiful! Don’t miss this museum!

Incredible museum full of relics and history. Highly recommend booking your ticket in advance (free with the Torino+Piedmont card). Definitely worth coming here as early as possible during the day - especially on a Monday when most other places are shut. The cafe was great value and really helpful for when I needed a break.

Very big with a lot of history, we took a guided tour, and the lady explained to us the rich Egyptian history and the different periods. The tour was for an hour and we couldn't cover everything. I visited the museum last year and I am looking forward to go back again.

This is a lovely museum with an exhaustive collection. I now understand why Egypt is so much dessert because it seems that the ancients, and for thousands of years, used up all the soil for clay ink wells, vessels, lamps and uncountable numbers of bits and pieces. It is well laid out and easily navigated. There are elevators, escalators and lockers. (One must leave an ID at the coat check for the key). Audio guides are available. Photography is allowed. My entry was included in the Turino Card, (which was worth it), and we reserved a day and time. (I arrived an hour early and was able to enter, it was not a crowded day and a Monday--->). They are open on Mondays which is a good day as other museums and palaces are closed.

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. Built in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani to a design by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the edifice is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2021 the museum is due to be superseded by the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.

This museum is unbelievable. I did not expect such an amazing collection. Everything is displayed perfectly. The lights are beautiful. It took us almost 3 hours to see all the 3 floors but the time went incredibly fast. When visiting Turin this is definitely a must see. It is mandatory to buy the tickets in advance because it gets incredibly busy inside.

This museum boasts the largest Egyptology collection outside of Cairo, and at over 200 years since it was established, it's also the oldest! The collection is incredible, well organized, and beautifully displayed. There's a whole floor arranged temporally and another floor arranged thematically. Info about each exhibit is available in English, Arabic, & Italian (among others).

Lots to see. lots to learn about how all these artifacts made their way to turin and the agreements made. My favorite part was finding the 3 sections of coffins and the sculpture of the hippo/ crocodile that guarded the houses of babies. You need a lot of time.

As a fan of history, and Egypt, this place gives you the chills. A superb blue eyes gentleman, dark hair, tall and slim - invites you inside of the museum - he is just adorable!! There is a small queue at the tickets office, but it is expected, under 5 minutes. You have a spot for your clothes/bags, so do not worry about that. Honestly, a superb experience. Turin has done a lot of excavation in the past in Egypt, so they have a tone of artefacts. Tickets were €18 per person, and I bought them on the spot, on a Saturday. It wasn’t very busy, but still a good amount of people. Was it worth it? Hundred percent! Has 4 floors (starts at -1) and over 14 rooms for you to explore. It took me over 1.5 hrs to get through it, but I have not read every single bit of piece that’s in there. If you want to read every bit, get ready for little over 4 hours!!! There is a coffee shop in there, brilliant choice of sandwiches and drinks; prices were decent too. You can take some audio devices to explain things around the place, so that’s a good option too. Overall, 10/10 for Egypt and history lovers.

A museum with a lot of exhibits. it is worth booking at least 3-4 hours for sightseeing. All very interesting. It's a pity that there were no descriptions in English everywhere. It is worth taking a phone and headphones, because on the website you can listen to recordings explaining some of the exhibits. It is often crowded, so you have to keep that in mind. I recommend!

This museum, which I learned is one of the largest Egyptian museums in the world, managed to exceed my expectations. It is necessary to prepare well for the size of the museum, which contains more than 37 thousand pieces. The 4-fold experience took us about two and a half hours. It wasn't just the contents of the museum or the information it gave that were impressive; the interior design of the museum was also beautifully designed to fit the pieces shown and offered a good aesthetic.

An impressive museum where we keep very good memories. I strongly recommend to visit it for adults and children at very interesting prices. If you go there on your birthday, admission is free. The visit takes 3 hours to see everything in detail. The museum is well arranged not very hot. Cool places. Seats on each floor for a short break. Nothing to say but to do.

Audio description is great, comes in Spanish, English, Italian, French and other Languages. Lots of steps but good experience. A few areas had items removed for study, which was a shame but understandable. New exhibition is not great - probably only really a 10m view, and the audio poems was a bit much for us. Main museum was great, especially the Tomb of Kings (ground floor)

  • 5/5 Armando U. 4 years ago on Google
Excellent museum to visit. It has one of the best collections of Egyptian art (probably after the British Museum). The way the pieces are presented makes all the experience even better. Very recommended if visiting Torino and a must if you are going with kids as I believe it is a great way to introduce them to history in a very interesting way.

This museum is fabulous! I last went there around 16 years ago and I don't remember a thing about it. Since the renovation, I'm sure I'll never forget it. Warning: wear your most comfortable shoes because there's a lot to see and the floors are unforgivingly hard!

  • 4/5 Stefania C. 4 years ago on Google
Exceptional exhibition, very rich and well-organized. However, it is really enjoyable to those who already have some cognition about ancient Egypt, its history and epochs. More might and should be done to make the exposition not only enjoyable but also understandable to the general public.

Consigliato!

An absolutely amazing collection of Egyptian artifacts! Housed in a beautiful brick building, this remains one of the most complete and oldest collections of Egyptian antiquities in the world aside from Cairo itself. Thousands of stunning examples of Egyptian life from birth to death and everything between. Mummies and sarcophagi are scattered throughout and the artistry and craftsmanship you can see here is mind blowing. Highly recommend if you have an extra couple hours.

Very interesting museum, a lot of museum collections. What I didn't like is that while you take a cloakroom number to hide your clothes, they take your ID card against you as collateral. I think that this is not lawful because in my absence the evidence could have been scanned and used in the manner not intended. I was shocked with my wife when we confiscated our evidence for the cloakroom number when we wanted to hide our jackets. We felt not nice, but we gave away our ID cards because otherwise we could not enter the museum. The museum has several floors. In addition, you get a device through which you can listen to headphones and watch movies about issues from individual places of museum visit. Unfortunately, there is no audio option in Polish.

Museum has the magnificat collection. It really leaves a great impression after visiting it. I would recommend to take 3-4 hours to walk trough everything without hurrying. The only negative thing is that they don’t offer guided tour in English. You can borrow the headphones with audio & video guide which is great and really helpful but the guided tour would probably be better option.

A fascinating museum about the history of Egyptology from the end of the nineteenth century till now. You see the first excavations and the latest scientific technologies. Beautiful objects. A good audio guide helps to find the highlights. (Bring your own in-ear headphones if you like) you will need at least 5 hours ore more.

(Translated by Google) I visited it a few years ago, in conjunction with the exposition of the Shroud. According to the opinion of experts, it is the best Egyptian museum after the one in Cairo. Spectacular and attractive, even for children despite the fact that there are only historical artifacts. But among sarcophagi, mummies, statuettes, furnishings, papyrus and other objects in good condition you will not get bored. The various rooms that house the finds of an ancient civilization are well set up, organized, tidy, clean despite the large number of people passing through. In this regard, the long wait outside to get in was very exhausting. But once inside we forget the discomfort and inevitably we immerse ourselves in the past ...

The biggest ancient Egyptian museum outside Egypt. It's huge, so save around 3+ hours for diving into ancient history. I think you'd need at least one hour to run across the whole rooms if you don't have much time, but I'd say 2 hours would be the ok-go for a decent visit. The best part was saved for the end of the visit, so don't stop much at the beginning if you don't have much time! They changed them but when we got to the top floor they both got stuck and even though they unlocked them, the staff in the room didn't work as they should and they lock up again. We continued without ... The visit to the museum lasted 3 hours but it was worth it. Beautiful museum. Very well lit and put to display. Fantastic collection. Big. Go slowly. Take a whole day with a break inbetween, but beware the restaurant is rather small.

Great! So much to see, has great explanations and even gives you a stop to sit and drink coffee when you’re a little over half way.

When we told people we were going to Torino, everyone talked excitedly about the Egyptian Museum, and for good reason — it is truly a wealth of Eyptian artifacts! I was genuinely awed several times throughout. There are mummies aplenty and beautiful sarcophagi to admire. They have many things to wow you, but the most impressive to me was that they had an actual ancient Egyptian temple inside. It was given by Egypt in appreciation for Italy’s archaeological help. Truly impressive. We did a guided 2 hour tour, which skipped some things, so I could have easily spent more time. I’d say 3+ hours minimum if you want to really absorb everything.

A little bit too crowded during a pandemic but it was a very interesting museum with a lot of unique exhibits. We bought the tickets online, very fast and convenient.

The best Egyptian Museum in the world. I'm from London and this is streets ahead of the British Museum in terms of their collection. We were really impressed. What an experience!

The museum is much larger and more extensive than expected! Never seen so many mummies in one place. You could spend hours here but we did get a bit tired after about 90mins. The interior looks well maintained and the staff are helpful. Definitely worth a visit!

Nice experience, few aspects which they don't mention on the website that you have to leave your coats on cloakroom and bags in lockers and you have to pay for then .

After Cairo this is the most important Egyptian Museum in the world and it shows! I had a wonderful visit and would highly recommend the guided tour to get the most out of your experience.

Must see. Now I get it. Very important to understand them if, like me, you think the Egyptians are unrelated to planet earth. The english text is appreciated for this monolingual.

This museum has great collection. If you're interested in Egyptology, the place serves you well. They have guided tours in English and Italian languages, and it's worth opting for one. Please make sure to book online about 2 weeks in advance to make sure you have slots available for the day of visit. Usually the queues are long and the tickets at the counter are sold out quickly.

A lot, indeed and interesting history Having been to Egypt and British museum, this adds to having seen.. a lot For mummy fans, you will enjoy this museum. Modern infrastructure

The palace is old outside and modern inside. the ticket is paid for the king's gallery which is the most fascinating place of this museum. The only nit pick is the crowd, too many people inside.

Fabulous. One of the best I have ever visited for plenty of reasons: - museum path is very clear and it explains everything in a clear and straight-forward way; - exposed objects are preserved perfectly and the rooms are well designed; - the collection is huge; - mummies are exposed with absolute dignity and historical interest. Furthermore, they are signalled beforehand in order to advise viewer's discrection; - the whole museum area is clean, well organized and well designed; Last but not least, the price is extremely low if you are a University student (3€).

Amazing expo. Took about 2 and a half hours to go through everything at a medium pace. The really cool exhibits are at the end so don't waste too much time in the beggining or you will be tired for the amazing stuff

The Egyptian museum is amazing. We spent a little bit more than tree hours and have not seen all the rooms in detail. Descriptions and explanations are good and easy to follow. Everything is described in Italian and English. For an audio guide you can use your own phone, also available in English (don’t forget your headphones 😉). Highly recommended.

Truly spectacular. Houses a great collection of Egipcian artifacts, explained with great detail. Well worth the visit, particularly for those interested in ancient civilizations. Easy to visit, as it is spacious and well maintained. Not to be missed.

A must in Torino. Well-shown exhibitions, amazing objects. Clear and instructive explanations, with sound guide or app. Plan to book well in advance and allow 2-4 hours for the discovery. Small snack area inside and guaranteed access for people with reduced mobility. More than 4,000 years of history are watching you!

Amazing museum! We spent 7 hours there, admiring all of the ancient Egyptian treasures. So much to see and well presented. A very special day!

Absolutely mind-blowing experience for all history buffs. A story of love, death, art, fun, passion and life itself. Very tastefully and artfully presented. Great for all ages and you can quickly see everything in about an hour, but you can also spend nearly the whole day there and not quite see everything too ;) Your choice!

A nice museum with alot of items. It's a bit tricky to know if you've seen everything because there's no clear path to follow, but on the other hand most things are alike so it doesn't matter so much. You get stunned by history and it's amazing how good some things are preserved but the museum is very large and in the end it gets a bit boring for us that not are enthusiasts.

If possible, I would have given 6 stars. I am the least excited person when it comes to museum. However, all my Italian friends suggested to visit it, hence, I went there not to disappoint them. After visiting, I am thankful to them for recommending me. I spend around 2 hrs as I ran out of time but I can easily spend half a day to observe the collections and the history. Definitely worth visiting. Please buy ticket online to avoid the long queue

Quite bad experience with the guide: his english was not completely comprehensible and he didn't pay attention to the battery of his loud speaker. On the other hand, he was surely passionate and knowledgeble. Obviously, the museum itself deserves 100 stars.

Great museum, poor experience. Collection is incredible but all the rooms are overcrowded. Kids literally everywhere jumping, yelling from the top of their lungs, and playing around thousands of years old cultural world heritage… while no one from museum staff bats an eye. The place is so packed you can barely make your way to read the (very interesting) descriptions. Mind you that the attached photo was taken between 11:30AM and 1:00PM ON A WEEKDAY. If you like ancient Egypt you really don’t wanna miss this museum though but now you know what to expect. Brace yourselves

Es war ein unvergessliches Erlebnis, das unsere Reise bereichert hat! one of the iconic place of the Torino city that I suggest to everyone to visit. It has the most valuable mummies following the Egyptian museum of Cairo. You are going to experience an unforgettable moments in the history of ancient Grecian through walking in it. This museum offer a special ticket for university students that cost 3 euros.

Quite a fulfilling experience but requires a fair amount of time (2hrs+) to get through the entire exhibit that spans over 10 rooms and 3 floors. If you're a history buff or interested in Egyptian history it's a definite hit list item. There are a few repetitive rooms which can get abit tiresome but its all worth it to see a few preserved mummies. The exhibitions span across the early to late dynastic periods and there's a real development on the evolution of sarcophagi over the years. Further focus is given to the canopic jars, the burial process and the practices across ancient Egypt. The experience can be considered abit pricy at €18 however if you're in town for a few days it's worth getting the Piemonte Pass and doing a few other sites with the MuseoEgrizio. The pass is around €38 for 3days.

Great experience with a lot of egyptian icons and history, many historical pieces. The museum is neat and well designed, and needs a two hours at least. Fast entry, 18 euros for adult and free for child. Restaurant and coffee area for rest after walking.

A really wonderful collection of artifacts from ancient Egypt. You can download an audio guide and listen to it on your phone and with your own headphones. It’s quite a large collection. You start at the top story and work your way down. Expect to spend at least two hours. One thing I appreciated about the museum was the respectful way they handle human remains. They were displayed separately and labeled so people could avoid if they wished. The separation also helped it feel more like a sacred and respectful place for the people, while still allowing us as living people to learn from the stories they have to tell.

Cons: The route inside the museum is not very friendly and easy to follow Some of the rooms are full of objects while others are almost empty It was very crowded and full of guided groups which made the visit a bit tiring and not pleasant Lightning and objects placing could be better for taking pictures and read descriptions Pros: collection is very wide and nice. Staff is kind. Location is great to see other landmarks as well

This is the largest museum with exhibits from Egypt that I have ever seen. It is a joy to see all the statues, columns, pots and jewels from ancient times gathered and shared with the visitors. Can't wait to see it again.

I visited the Egypt Museum in Cairo many many years ago. Nothing will beat that, but the Turin Egypt Museum is most certainly the best I have seen outside of Egypt itself. You will not be disappointed, and the tech/app makes it really informative. I just wish I had more time there...

Amazing museum. I do reckon myself as quite the museum enthusiast and this has reached my top 10 easily. Entry fee 18€ for adult, 3€ for student. From the outside you might get fooled by the size of it, but after waking around for a couple hours and realizing there is still more to be seen you start grasping the through size of this enormous exhibition. It’s filled with fascinating descriptions next to almost everything in both English and Italian so you can fully immerse yourself in the tour. They also offer a audio guided tour which you can access by scanning a QR code in the beginning, but you have to being your own earplugs. They also offer rentable lockers so you don’t have to carry around jackets and backpacks with you. One thing I found kinda funny is that in the beginning they had this whole room dedicated to explaining why there is an Egypt museum in Turin, talking about all these historical events and figures heroic endeavors that led to it. Come on bro just say “Turin was a powerhouse and we stole it” but still I’m happy they added it as it described the different stages of archaeology in Egypt throughout the ages. Only thing I found kinda fu

World-class museum that should be considered a must-do on any trip to Turin. Having been to the Egyptian museum in Cairo, in a lot of ways I actually prefer this one, since the artifacts are presented so well with lots of information (generally in both Italian and English, and occasionally Arabic). The museum is laid out to tell the story through the millenia of Ancient Egyptian history, linearly going through time as you progress through the floors. Visited mid-day in November without having booked online in advance, and it was no problem, as the museum wasn't too crowded.

An amazing collection that leaves you breathless and dazed. Great stories and details were wonderfully presented in the audiobook. Unfortunately, the internet connection was not great and the audiobook failed several times. It also packed full of people making it less enjoyable and harder to admire all the exhibitits.
