Decent hotel with basic facilities expected of a 3 stars hotel. Breakfast was average. Wifi was not free, and a nominal fee was charged on a per day basis. Note that many websites such as Facebook, YouTube, and even Yahoo are not accessible in Turkmenistan

Rooms are very spacious and the hotel is very clean. We had dinner in the restaurant and the food was of good quality. Hotel also has a pool (which has seen better days) but still a great asset in the hot weather of the city. Easy to walk to some of the main sites from the hotel. Excellent shop selling carpets in the hotel lobby. Definitely worth considering if you are visiting the city. Hotel also has a nightclub. when you in the hotel will feel in the soviet union

The hotel was in a central location and that was what we needed for the students to easily come to hotel for their exam. However, it didn’t worth the money we paid to stay in the hotel. The breakfast wasn’t good, awful to be honest. The egg was boiled maybe for more than half an hour. The inside wasn’t even yellow anymore. They didn’t serve decent coffee, just instant one. The water was gone during the day when I wanted to have a shower. I’d prefer staying in a different hotel when I’m back to Ashgabat.

It's not a new hotel, but comparatively low priced considering the cost of other hotels in Ashgabat. The rooms are old but clean. The breakfast is very simple, but good enough to not leave with an empty stomach in the morning. The location is very good, there are supermarkets and restaurants within walking distance.

This hotel is really in need of some serious makeover. I can't believe that I actually stayed for 2 nights here. The first night was bearable because I actually landed in Ashgabat at 230am and arrived at the hotel at 4am and checked out at 9am. The only thing I wanted to do when I arrived was just to quickly take a shower and sleep and I didn't take much out from my luggage. I only had an initial impression it was quite old and run down, with a musky smell in the room. In the morning had breakfast and seriously wasn't satisfied with what they were serving. Limited items to choose from and looked cold and unappetizing. The only thing I could remember was the hotel looked big and the lady in the reception speaks good English. Came back again to stay on the 4th night of the trip. This time round I was put on a higher floor and the room looked bigger and brighter, but the condition was still as bad as the previous one and things looked like they were falling apart. The taps and showers were loose and looked like they would fall out anytime, the bed wasn't that comfortable. Don't know how much does it cost but seriously think must have way overpaid for this hotel. Don't ask for Wifi because it is non-existent, they do have and you have to pay for it and the Wifi can only be used to check emails and nothing else. Giving it a 2 stars as I still managed to survive 2 nights here.

The staff at reception is very friendly and helpful, with a good command of English, but the rooms are filthy and dilapidated. The toilet seat was cracked, as well as the base. There was hair in the sink and in the sheets. The exposed boxspring had huge stains. When we switched rooms due to the loud music at their outdoor venue, the condition of the next room was not much better. There was a piece of gum covered in hair in the bathroom doorway. The bathroom light had burnt out. Ask your tour company to put you somewhere else.

Just stayed there in late January, 2019. Everything in the room is from 1995 or even earlier. The heater/air conditioner's filter in the room has never been cleaned and blows air filled with smoke, dust, pollen etc. The only way we could breathe was to open the window...in January...and leave it open and leave the heat turned up high. WiFi works...but you have 1Mbit bandwidth for the whole hotel so it is almost unusable, and FB, WhatsApp, all social media, and most sites are blocked. That said, the lobby was nice and the staff super friendly and polite. They would do anything to help you and they meticulously organized and cleaned our room (except that filter!). The lobby was impeccably clean. Note: the British and German Embassy have space in this building, so someone is always listening.

Umm. First of all it's too expensive for an average tourist. Second thing what I'm not okay with is "it's really old inside, i have seen some spots on my pillow which made me sleep at my friend's the other night", The third thing is that they have translation problems. However, it's kinda good and the personal is friendly.

If you're a foreigner, do a favour to yourself and ask your tour company to send you to a different hotel. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting, with mold everywhere. Both door handles fell off when we tried to enter to the room! There's no water, juice or milk for breakfast. The swimming pool is public

Bad things: 1. no safe box 2. no hand towel, room had only bath towels 3. no slippers 4. we with my wife took 2 person room, but it had only one pack of shampoo 5. reception asked extra 10 manat for the wifi password 6. no hair drier 7. as in the image I shared bed was made really poorly 8. pillow and blanket covers does no cover them properly 9. as in the image pillows are yellowish inside. 10. Breakfast is served in pre prepared plates/portions. You can't take extra if you want. good things: 1. it has a small fridge but freezer compartment. 2. we stayed there in winter, rooms were quite warm. 3. Although breakfast is not open buffet it is still satisfying. 4. breakfast is included in room price We also stayed in Olympic hotel which offers much better conditions compared to this hotel for almost the same price. Advantages of Olympic over Ak Altyn: 1. it has a safe box 2. rooms are opened by digital keys (in ak altyn they give regular keys), for it seems safer, because you can know who and when entered the room. 3. no extra charge for wifi 4. rooms and beds are in much much better condition 5. breakfast is open buffet breakfast. You can take whatever you want as much as you want. 6. it has better mattress 7. price for 2 person room was in Olympic 300 manat vs 255 manat in Ak Altyn. When compared to Olympic's 300 manat rooms, I can give at most 150 manat for the room in Ak Altyn, it defitinitely does not worth more.

Very comfortable hotel with some really nice front desk staff. WiFi was definitely the biggest issue here, as it only worked in the lobby and some days did not work at all, but other than that I had a really pleasant stay at the Ak Altyn Oteli. Rooms were pretty standard, beds were relaxing, showers worked great. I personally loved the breakfast at this hotel, found the variety to be great and some items changed up from day to day, so I was never bored with it despite spending multiple nights here. Also has a bar and 24/7 restaurant inside the hotel, along with a nightclub, all great additions that make things even better for staying there.

Nice hotel. A few bars of site. Breakfast is basic being English but still nice. Lovely views from rooms depending which side of the hotel you are put in you either have thr mountains or the airport/city

Our mattresses were really terrible, the room service was not good, some of the lamps didn't work, the bathroom smelled bad and the room itself was not clean enough, and the wireless works in few places. I think the Hotel can not be rated better than a three-star one.

It middle class quality, standart hotel. The beds are squeky, stuff in the room is a bit dusty, bathroom is old style. However, if you use it from night to night and you are tired enough, you dont much care about these at all. There is a disco and kareoke bar behind of the hotel.
