Since the lines in NYC are so long, I thought I'd try eating at one of their SoCal locations to see what the fuss is all about. The food is definitely good, but I feel it could be hit or miss. There's flavour, but the texture in the chicken was a touch dry and honestly, while nice, I've now tried it and I haven't had a "craving" for it again since. If you're a big meat eater, this is your paradise, for sure. The service in this Tustin location was good, and the restaurant was clean and staff were friendly. It definitely filled the spot when looking for a nice, warm, non offensive meal, and again, something I think you've got to try once, to see what all of the popularity is about.

The food is disgusting. I got a small chicken/beef plate and it was extremely dry. The white sauce tasted like a mix of sour cream and something else. The hummus and pita chips had no flavor. The cheesecake had undercooked phyllo dough. Definitely my 1st and last time trying Halal Guys

Paid for a regular combo like usual but this time I got half a scoop of each meat and drowned in sauce with the bread thrown on top to sog it up. The restaurant is good but the employee hates their job and it shows.

I have been ordering from halal guys for past 8 months. I have ordered falafel palter 8-9 times till now. And from past 3 orders quality is just worst. Today i ordered a falafel bowl normal size (not small). Also added other paid toppings but my bowl size was less than half filled and added toppings were like 1 tablespoon. Also, falafel was very hard and dry (seems like few days old). For sure this is the last time ordering anything from here. PS: Initially when i ordered 5-6 months back, the food quality was great and i was happy. That's the reason i kept coming back to this. But not anymore 100%. I thought maybe they messed up couple of orders, but not low-quality food is consistent

By far and away the worst location and experience I have had with Halal guys and I’ve eaten at most of them over the years. First off the server was very blunt, served the smallest portion I’ve seen in all this time and gave me the wrong receipt without a barcode so I can’t collect my loyalty points. If that was it I would let it go, but then the food. There was a deep puddle of oil in my bowl, see picture. I have never seen anything like this before. I understand it will naturally be oily but this probably has several tablespoons of oil in there. Complete lack of care or regard to what they are serving.

I have been coming here for years/monthly and chose to do an online order today with double meat on 5 orders for my family. They most definitely did not give double meat on any of my plates. I dont know if they did not see it, but they did not. I called 3 times and the calls went straight to voicemail, in which the box was full, so I could not leave a message or get it fixed. Don't come here unless you want to get cut short on your food. TLDR: Horrible customer service, do not come here. Edit: I responded to the email below and they basically said I can’t do anything without pictures of all my food. Absolutely waste of time, they do not care about their customers, especially one who has been coming here for years. Horrible service at tustin and their customer support.

All of the food I've had is very tasty. I've had the platters of chicken, beef gyro, and falafel. They also had a new lamb which is limited time and that had a good strong flavor. However, since I started eating here years ago, it looks like they're serving size has diminished, while prices are quite high. So the value is not that great. I recommend getting the white sauce on the side so you can adjust each bite. The white sauce is definitely important. They also have a hot sauce which packs a pretty good punch. Service and atmosphere is average for a fast food place.

This tastes just like it does on NYC!! Went here for lunch with my girlfriend and we both ordered the chicken platter. So good! Line was fast and service was friendly. At 12:30 pm the line was maybe 5 people long, by 1 it was only a couple people. During the busier times you may trouble finding a spot to sit, but you can always get it to go. Overall a great spot for a quick bite. We plan on coming back here many, many times on the future.

Got skimped on the protein. Meat was lacking, cold and dry. Tasted like it’s been sitting all day. Tasted a few bites of sourness. Couldn’t finish the plate. I’m from the east coast and man do I miss NYC

My sister showed me this place and I'm glad she did. It was very good! I had the smaller plate with a mix of beef and chicken. I must say I like the beef better. But it was all very good, and healthy, as long as you don't eat too much white sauce haha

Always love The Halal Guys! My favorite is the falafel and gyro beef combo, with rice, lettuce, tomato. 3 lines of sauce is enough for me, they have a challenge that if you get 20 lines of sauce, and finish it within 10 minutes, you get your picture on the wall. You also can't have anything to drink for 5 minutes afterwards 😂. The white sauce is creamy and perfect, and that rice is heavenly.

Decent flavors. The hot sauce is seriously spicy. I recommend getting onions, green onions, jalapeños and tons of sauce.

Amazingly delicious gyros! The ultimate sensorial experience for your palette. Yuge portions for an incredibly reasonable price. The people who work here are very amicable and welcoming and cheerily greet you when you enter the front door. They give you sample taste as well. 5 out of 5 STARS!!!

The best part were the fries. Nice and crispy. The hummus was really good and the olives were tasty. The hot sauce is hotter than a typical chili sauce. The white sauce was like a seasoned mayo. The spiced chicken wasn't my favorite but the regular chicken was better.

Wow! Great falafel best I’ve had in long time! The employee Troi was so great and helpful. She helped me with selections and it made for the best dinner!! Thanks Troi you’re the best👍🏻. I’ll only want to go again when Troi is working she’s so fun!!

Wonderful customer service. The two ladies in the front lily and maria, hooked us up, and we're very polite and friendly when taking my order. They made me feel comfortable and welcomed, when ordering my food. -amazing customer support

The food is delicious, the French fries are always crispy and the staff is great. I really enjoy the hot sauce, but be careful if your a novice as it may be too much heat!

Excellent high quality shaved beef and chicken plates which are moist, seasoned to perfection and come with rice, salad and white sauce to top of the plate with a smooth creamy texture. There is a lack of seating and this location is busy, so you know the food is fresh and has great flavor. The staff us patient and attentive in this cafeteria style eatery. For those vegetarians in the audience they offer falafel which is crispy on the outside and fork tender on the inside.

Disorganized to say the least. Does not taste anywhere near the carts in NYC. Super cheap on the portions. Very disappointed not to mention the dirty tables🤷 the white sauce and hot sauce were the only thing that tasted the same

This is my to go place when I'm hungry and never been disappointed. Fresh food and friendly staff always. My regular dish is the combo plate with savory beef and chicken but I'm looking forward to check their new shawarma. I'll have the staff put some fries in it :).

Just picked up to go order for 5 people and the food tasted old. Nothing in the platter seemed fresh. Had to go get food from another place as we were not able to eat it. Don’t expect this from this guys.

Sandy, Maria and Carlos were super polite and created a friendly experience. The food tasted even better thanks to them! I wanted to tip them but they don’t accept tips at this location

I have been going to Halal Guys for literally years. It WAS one of my favorite lunch places. I always order the combo platter with extra meat. This last year we go to the Tustin, CA location as it is near my office. The last few times (maybe over a month or so time period) the office has ordered from there, the food is different and tastes spoiled. Literally smells and tastes off. We were told one time it was the lemon they used to clean the grill, and since we ordered early we thought it might be the reason. They remade our orders and it still was off but we didn't send it back another time. It isn't just my platter, it is everyone that orders. Especially the chicken, the gyro seems to not be as 'sour' tasting or smelling. Even the veggies smell off, but that might just be from being in the same container? Today, I ordered again and it was the same issue. But this time the order was place around 2pm. Grubhub is refunding me the cost but I am completely disgusted with the place now. I am not sure what happened but the food literally smells and tastes spoiled.

Food was good sort of. Have not eaten that kind of food before so it was different I liked it but it was just different. My friend that was with me said they were actually a bit mediocre when it came to their food though. However I thought it was okay lady that was working behind the counter not very friendly and you couldn't really understand what she was saying. And something totally UPS off topic we got there and tried to park and it was busy on the weekend and we couldn't Park in the spot that we wanted to park in because somebody had gotten sick and the spot that we were pulling into so eww. Other than that I thought it was a little pricey for what you were getting. Overall experience other than the lady that was working the cash register was kind of rude and food was okay would it eat there again probably not. Just because.

The food here is unbelievable the taste makes my mouth water as I’m typing this or maybe it’s because I’m hungry😂 I don’t know if the food is really Halal but it sure tastes Halal. The staff is extraordinary and they all should get a raise from the cashier to the chef. These individuals ARE worth their weight in gold! They definitely deserve a promotion, award, prize, vacation, raise or all of the above. Food was quick and tasted like it took hours to make.

This location is fantastic! Every time I come here, the food is yummy, the service is quick and friendly, and the portions are sizable. Today they went above and beyond when I ordered for pickup and didn't notice that it was for the wrong location. Instead of having me drive to the other restaurant, they went out of their way to offer to help take care of it for me (and were gracious about it too). Their manager, Troi, was especially great and resolved the situation quickly and professionally. That really made me feel like a valued customer and that they wanted to do what they could, even though it was my mistake.
