I have an 8AM appointment, was told to get here at 7:45. Got here at 7:30 to be respectful in case of traffic. The building isn’t even open. I know that’s probably not the facility’s fault but surely somebody here could talk to the appointment center and stop telling people to arrive before the building even opens. These little things make a big difference when someone is sick or in pain. The sign on the door says 8:30. Apparently the building opens at 8. So do I have an 8AM appointment or not? Update: changed my review up to three stars because the doctor and staff really are very good. If they could fix the timing/communication issue on the appointment it would be a five star review.

This review is for Vision Essentials only. I do not recommend them. Do not waste your time or money. This is the worst location. The customer service or lack of is horrendous. I went to check in . There wasn't any customers or patients at the time. There was two cashiers on the phone. I wasn't acknowledged by either of them. I stood in a line alone until I decided to sit patiently waiting for one of them. One of the ladies ended her call and checked me in. A man came in after me. The other lady assisted him. I sat down for a technician to call me. I will repeat the place was empty. There was a male and female technician sitting at there desks not doing anything. The male technician called the man that checked in after me first. This left me confused. I didn't say anything I assumed the female technician was going to call me. I assumed wrong. A woman walked in and started looking at glasses. She proceeded to ask the female technician for assistance. I sat and looked at the technician. Who looked back at me without saying a word and continued helping the other woman. At this point I was disgusted and annoyed. I wonder if my race had anything to do with being ignored for two non minorities. At least be a little more discreet.

Usually a pleasant experience for checkups, however, this time felt a little odd. Any time I leave the house during COVID period is already a stressful, anxiety induced time for me personally because I do my due diligence to remain healthy. My doctor wanted to check up on a few things so I came in for an appointment. I arrived early to my 2pm appointment and they were doing temperature checks at the door. Okay, standard, but if you remember anything about Labor Day weekend, it was HOT everywhere. I checked in at 100 degrees. The lady at the front seemed flustered, so she asked me to stand to the side. The next three patrons were allowed to enter without issues. 1) father and son both registered at the same temperature, 100 degrees. I was maybe 8 feet away and heard her comment (rather, an excuse) that it was hot outside and gave them a screened sticker, They did not wait. 2) An employee came back from lunch and was not screened. Person was not screened since they were an employee, so person did not wait. 3) A woman walked up and I can’t remember if she entered before me or not, but she was allowed to enter without issue. I waited on the sidelines to “cool down” for about 5 minutes. I wasn’t counting and honestly, I was still reeling from shock at whether I was discriminated against or not. I was the only person that had to wait and “cool off”. She rechecked my temperature and it read as 99 degrees and gave me a screened sticker. At this point, I really just wanted to proceed with my appointment and leave. That was a first I have experienced during COVID EVER and it makes me want to avoid Kaiser for the foreseeable future.

Checking in for your appointment is very easy; you can check in at the front desk or by yourself at the kiosk. I’ve been here for a general checkup with my primary physician and an eye exam at Vision Essentials. Both were, overall, good experiences. Front-desk workers are alright, but I mean, I don’t really expect much from them; just make sure to ask questions about payment if you have any. The doctors, however, are exceptional. Very knowledgeable and friendly, and they make your experience as stress-free as possible. Personally, they were good at reducing my anxiety and reassuring me when it came to my health issues. They also offer lots of options and don’t pressure you into doing anything (which you may have to pay a lot for), so they aren’t there to just scam you for things that aren’t necessary.

Love the way they treated me today. Receptionist, Nurse, Doctor, Pharmacist. Everybody! Very careful about this crazy virus, and at the same time very friendly, helpful, and kind. Thanks for your hard work!

I was greeted by Tonya. She’s very professional and made sure to walk me through the process and everything is sterile. She has a wonderful vibe and her warm and friendly personality made me very comfortable. Dr Apodaca was very patient, did tests beyond my reason to visit to make sure all is fine. I was very happy by my visit.

I usually have a good experience here at the Kaiser of Tustin. Today, I can’t say that was the case. Please, No matter what you do please don’t see Optometrist Mohed Sayad. He treated my son extremely bad and my son walked out of there crying and extremely anxious. The things he told him were unbelievable. He knew I upset, I waited for him to be done and I left as fast as I could. Keep in mind that my son is only 9 years old and he treated him terribly bad. He shouldn’t work seeing kids. He shouldn’t be employed here period. My son was honestly afraid of him. By far this was the worse experience I’ve had at kaiser, i guess the best way to explain this is describing this incident as surreal. This incident today better not cause my son to develop anxiety. I requested a referral to the ophthalmologist based on what he told me about my son and he said no and refused to do it. I immediately got a same day appointment at Target optical of Costa Mesa for a second option and was told that the prescription this Dr at kaiser gave my son was not accurate. I had to pay outside of kaiser for him to be seen elsewhere because of Dr. Sayad’s inefficiency He didn’t care at all how he mistreated my kid and I am upset and furious about this. He doesn’t care about the well being of his patients. This guy should be fired.

Dr. Christine Moon is my primary and has been for few years. I tend to be very worried and anxious with my health, but she is very kind and patient. She takes all my concerns seriously and I always have quick responses via email. I also had to bring my 3 year old daughter Lucy at my last visit and she gave my daughter a book and was super sweet to her. Highly recommend!

Ophthalmologist Dr. Doshi and Dr. Vaughn and pretty much every ophthalmologist I’ve encountered here have been extremely nice, helpful, and reassuring. Even when I came last minute they took me in and I am very grateful for that. Thank God for them.

I went there 7:45AM and the Optician was with 1 gut till 9AM and then it took 2 minutes to give me prices and options. Couldn't they give you this 2 min while the other guy was testing his glasses??

There are some great podiatrist at this location but I’m rather disappointed in Kaiser for demonizing a condition. Just because they have succumbed to the rage of the maskhole masses and dropped the need for masking doesn’t mean you act like any symptoms are cause to refuse service. I mean, would you turn that person away at ER? No? Oh because they mask in ER? So even though a patient is masked and has no symptoms you choose to criminalize the need for services. Why not mask like there’s some strain that you’re not aware of? Oh it’s uncomfortable? Think of the patient that could lose a toe due to a wound and was refused services because of your fragile comfort or need to be sheep? I have been an advocate for Kaiser HMO services for years. I am now backpedaling.
