Recommend trying the Bulldog bites (steak) was perfect and delicious, cheese curds melted in your mouth. The Ribs and Chicken dinner was absolutely amazing!! This is worth the stop, service was exceptional, everyone was super friendly.

Best pawtio around!! We'll do that again. Amazing service and selection on the menu for great food is endless. Haven't had a bad experience yet. We love it.

Very bad experience. Food looked fine but tasted awful. Salad came with a hard chunk of plastic or debris in it. Kitchen staff had no idea what it was. Pot roast was bland and chewy. Turkey sandwich was all bland bread sprinkled with a little dry turkey. Server was pleasant but the food was awful, especially with the chunk of unidentified debris. Brought to the attention of server and they gave a free $5 dessert, not acceptable!

Got the prime rib on a Friday night. Ordered medium rare and was not disappointed. The potato was a bit over cooked, but nothing too crazy. They offered raw or creamy horse radish sauce. The creamy didn’t have as much of a kick as the uncut, but was still flavorful. The Au Jus gave it a bit more moisture but it was perfectly delicious without it. Overall pretty great for a late night bite on the north shore!

Omgosh! I absolutely could not even eat, much less enjoy my meal because of the flies!!!!! This was the worst experience I've ever had in a restaurant. I hate to say that and I never leave bad reviews, however, shouldn't have to pay 100$ bucks when you can even eat what you paid for because as soon as it comes out it's covered in flies!!!

If I could give zero stars, I would. We had a reservation for 6 people for dinner at 5:15, and we arrived and were seated on time. However, we had to give our drink orders twice as the waitress forgot she needed to punch in to work first, she said. So she told us to please repeat our drink orders. We waited over 20 minutes for her to return with our drinks and hopefully to order the food. The waitress waited on others who arrived later. We also heard her tell another table of six that she forgot what they ordered since she doesn’t write orders down. She walked by our table several times appearing oblivious to her surroundings. We decided that if service was so poor just to get our beverages that we couldn’t imagine her getting the food order correct IF she ever came to take the orders. We had so looked forward to this restaurant after viewing the menu. The six of us walked out and did mention this experience to the woman at the front. We then had a great meal and service at Grand Superior Lodge.

We have eaten here in previous years and have been happy with the food and atmosphere inside and outside. This time, we sat inside so we could be seated right away. We looked at all the flies and the filthy carpet and decided to go elsewhere ! Sorry, it's not a very good impression. How much does it cost to clean the carpet ?

We ate dinner there awhile back while we were visiting from out of state. I am a vegetarian & really enjoyed the MN wild rice veggie burger. The server was nice and had a perfect, delightful Scandanavian accent. Cleanliness was a bit compromised as I sat near the window with a dead fly which looked like it had expired a while ago. Overall, a good experience.

Sat out on the patio last night. Absolutely amazing food. Had the half rack of ribs and my husband had the beef tips, both were excellent. Great server.

    1) This place could use updates or at least a good cleaning. 2) Most of the servers seemed to be good, but I had the extreme bad luck of NOT getting any of them. My servers name started with "L" and I can say that she was one of the worst servers I have ever had. She was unfriendly, unhelpful, and slow. She didn't engage in conversation, didn't offer water or apps when she 1st came to the table. She acted like we were the 1st people to ever order drinks from the bar. 3) The drink menu had 4 or 5 different "Mules". The bar was "Out of Mules". (I did confirm this with another server who stopped to see if we needed anything) Is there a shortage of ginger beer? Why have them as a permanent selection on the drink menu if you aren't going to have them available? The food was great! No complaints there. I had the roast chicken and the Hubs had the salmon. I overheard the other servers complaining about one of the other servers as we walked out. I knew EXACTLY who they were talking about. I'm not sure I'll go back. There are plenty of other places in the area.

Well, I give this restaurant an overall rating of four stars but, only because of our waiter who was fun and engaging. The hostess was NOT welcoming or helpful! Anything but interested in helping us! We waited and waited then ultimately had to make our seating as we felt like a burden to be there! Now that we are seated, our waiter did all the right things to be welcoming and suggestive selling with drinks and food selections. He totally turned a negative into a positive. Our food was delicious and hot. I would return again but may just drive on to find another more pleasant and welcoming place to eat. Also, the staff were not quick to clean off tables so you could be seated and the tables were sticky! Kinda gross! On the bright side, food was very good and hot!

Wow, wonderful food , amazing service! Our waitress Sara was wonderful. This is definitely more classy than a typical bar and grill and worth the stop!

Fresh Walleye dinner used to be THE best around. Now it's disgusting, hard fried with nasty coating, baked potato old, beans cold. Wine selections out of most, paid $90 for disappointment. If this restaurant changed ownership it is not for the better. Bring back the Fresh broiled Walleye. It's been years, but the menu seems too big to guarantee or make fresh. Imagine most items are frozen. Will never go back and tell our friends of the change.

Say at the bar and enjoyed a wonderful dinner; meatloaf, mashed potatoes & gravy, and green beans. Very flavorful. Bartender was very friendly. Atmosphere was nice.

We enjoyed our visit to Black Woods. Though we have visited Two Harbors many, many times, this was our first visit. We were seated quickly and had a lovely waiter named Dee. She was quick and attentive! My hubby got the meatloaf meal, and he said it was the best meatloaf he had ever had. I had the Swedish meatballs, and they were great as well! Big portion sizes! There's a big parking lot in the back and street parking nearby. This is a great spot for lunch!

We went there around 6pm on Sunday and it was nice and quiet. My friend and I were seated quickly and food came out quickly as well. The pub bites were out of this world! The salt and seasoning on them was flavorful and the cheese sauce was mouthwatering. We both got the Mac and cheese and it was delicious. A worth consideration if you visit. I can't wait to come back up North and visit this wonderful restaurant.

My husband and I both had the fish basket, the fish was greasy, under cooked and breading was doughy. The coleslaw was the most bland thing I have ever tasted. Service was mediocre at best. The price of the meal was way too high for the quality of the food. I would never eat there again.

Cheese. Curds. I get that it's everywhere around these parts, but these ones are better. Dare to be square. It was a foggy & rainy day so chicken pot pie was an easy pick. It didn't miss its mark. Flaky & crusty pie topping, flavorful filling. I left full of cheese and pie without any ragrets. You read that right.

My family and i ate here for lunch. I ordered the firehouse burger with sweet potato fries, my mom ordered pot pie, my bf ordered fish basked. My mom enjoyed the pie. My friend and I enjoyed our entrees. Our only complaint is that the fries were cold. I have been here other times and always had hot food. I would come back.

If you want to sit outside, you have to use curbside delivery. You can go in to get water or beverage yourself and sit wherever you like on the patio; umbrellasavailable. Firehouse Hamburger lived up to its name and sweet potato fries were good. Rueben was generously proportioned and tasty, and the marbled rye bread was very good. The steak tips were okay but couldn't be cut easily with the little plastic utensils. The potatoes, mushrooms, onion straws, and green beans were good but the gravy/sauce soaked everything in the carryout box and I didn't really want everything to taste the same (especially not the gravy-coated cranberries). Not a good choice for curbside. The flowers outside were lovely!

Great food and great service! We actually ate there 2 times in one day! The group I was with all enjoyed there food. But be aware if your coming with a large party you may have a long wait.

Spectacular! We had the mushroom burger with cheddar vs Swiss. It had huge mushrooms, perfect burger with bit of pink inside. Cooked to perfection. The Rubin was equally delicious my husband had with onion rings. The agate sauce is a must too. Dessert we selected the chocolate passion cake- you won’t be disappointed in this dessert. Truly the best meal we have had while up north. Service was good. We waited 20 minutes for table during the week, they grabbed us drinks while we waited. Over all meals with dessert for two was $48. Our waitress was delightful.

Visiting from Michigan...We went for the Friday whitefish fish fry. It was amazing. Comes with waffle fries which were good and cole slaw which I didn't care for the taste, but that wasn't a big deal. We also had the Bulldog steak bites appetizer. Super tasty. Our bartender/server was one of the happiest friendliest I have ever met. She was a ray of sunshine and always had positive things to say.We will return and will certainly have the whitefish fish fry again. What a nice restaurant.

We were staying in town to view the lighting of Split Rock Lighthouse. Came back from event and chose Black Woods because of past experiences. They didn't disappoint. We had a wait, due mostly shortage of waite staff, but it was worth the wait. Our dinners were excellent and service was very good. Cocktails were spot on, as well.

We ordered take out and it was warm and ready at our pickup time. There was no silverware included (I didn't think to check the bag before I left). My husband was very happy with his burger. I was very happy with the kids meal portion. Meatloaf was pretty tasty though there was no cornbread with our food. Overall a good meal though not enough to guarantee our return.
