What a great place for lunch. The menu is far bigger than most other Tex-Mex restaurants in town. The portions are huge and the prices are great. Our waitress was so kind and attentive. We sat in the bar area and really enjoyed the atmosphere there. Definitely recommend dining at this location.

walked into restaurant no one there to sit you. Waited at least 5 minutes. It was ok will try it again. Hope it will be better. Manager was very friendly he would be why I return. Appetizer was good fresh chips. Not impressed with the enchiladas they were small and not very filled. The queso on top wasn't impressive I'd rather have the red sauce with cheddar cheese melted. Wouldn't order that again

I attended a birthday party of 13 people. Tuesday night and very few customers. Service was incredibly slow and when the meals finally came in waves, my meal was not served. Later, the waiter realized it and said he would take it off of my bill!!! The manager later came out and said she would take it off of my bill?!?! and she could make me an order to go. I declined and asked if she could just take off the two margaritas, I had during the 2.5 hours that we were there. She arrogantly said she couldn't comp alcohol. I asked if she could give me a gift card for a future meal. She replied that she could give me a coupon for a queso. Tyler, there are many better options with much better food and service.

First visit. Dirty. Waitress called my “love” a lot. Felt uncomfortable. Food tasted mostly packaged. Won’t return.

I will probably never go back! I gave it a one star because the hostess was sweet. My daughter's and I were seated on the patio (as we had requested) and were completely ignored for over 5 minutes. The waiter finally came and greeted us with, "How are y'all this evening?" I was a little put off that it had taken him so long to even acknowledge our presence, but I replied, "Pretty good. Thank you." After a very brief pause, he (sarcastically) replied, "I'm good too. Thanks for asking." I ordered our drinks and the table side guacamole. He acted somewhat irritated that we wanted him to make a guacamole for us, but went to get the ingredients. He brought the ingredients to the table and proceeded to prepare the guacamole for us. I attempted small talk with him while he was working, asking if he had made the fresh guacamole many times before. He commented that he had been a waiter there for 8 years and replied, "Yes. Way too many times!" As he was making it, I noticed he was trying to scoop something out of the mix with his spoon. He repeated it several times and I finally asked him what he was doing. He told me he was trying to get a hair out of the mix. He tried a couple more attempts to capture it with the spoon and finally gave up and went and got another set up to start over. When our dinners finally came, none of us had silverware. He acknowledged that and excused himself to go get us some. We sat looking at our plates of hot food for almost 5 minutes before I was finally able to catch the attention of another worker and requested they bring us silverware so we could eat. Needless to say, our food was not piping hot by the time we finally got to eat it. When our waiter did return, he had no silverware. The food was not that great and the service was snarky and slow. When we finally got the bill, he pointed out to me that we had been charged for two table-side guacamoles, but assured me that one of them had been comp'd. Are you kidding me? That should never even have been a consideration to charge me for guacamole that had hair in it. It was an absolutely horrible experience. I left the restaurant feeling angry and, at the same time, wanting to cry because I was so upset.

This place was amazing my wife and I got a good mixture of food during a busy dinner time and our server Carson was fantastically helpful and patient even though I talk to much! The salsa was even amazing here! Brisket tacos dos x fish tacos and more and all were super fantastic! My mouth is still watering even though I am stuffed full!

Recently went with family for dinner and visit was well worth it. Food was awesome and our server Stacy made the experience that much better. With her attention to detail service, her patience even with the kids, and all around customer care, she has easily made "On the border" our new favorite place to eat. Atmosphere that is relaxed and friendly Service that is right on and Great food! Win win for everyone

I'm in Tyler somewhat frequently for business. Went out to have dinner and thought I would go to OTB, as I generally like it. Never been to this location. First impressions are everything. I sat at the bar. The bartender was not friendly nor was she good about making sure if I needed anything. I ordered a beer, queso, and a fajita salad. The salad was mediocre at best. It's not hard to make a decent salad but they failed. It looked like someone had already ate half my salad. Presentation was terrible. The chicken had little flavor. It sure wasn't worth the price. $25 later for everything I ordered, and neither the food nor service were good. Should have went to Taco Bell and bought a six pack. It would have been cheaper and better.

Loved it! They've closed all locations in Houston so it was an unexpected treat to find this location on my trip to Tyler. Sat outside and enjoyed a wonderful watermelon margarita.. food came out quickly and was as delicious as I remember it. Chips were thin and crispy, salsa was fresh. Had the shrimp Tacos and it was soooooo good!!! It's a bummer I have to drive all the way to Tyler to get great Tex Mex. I hope they reconsider reopening a location here in Houston.

Food was pretty decent, and service was about average. Server had a smile and was competent while performing her duties. I'd recommend the restaurant strictly because it was good average service and a pretty tasty meal. Meal was delightful minus the fact that my steak meat was way overcooked, and just a touch on the hard side when it came to chewing through it. On the other hand, my tacos AL carbon was a good meal. My wife had the chimichanga and said it was very good. My reasons for the 2 star rating are as follows: #1- the handicapped parking is off to the left of the front entrance and quite a further walk than it would be if those spots were directly in front of the entrance. Instead the "to go" parking spots are directly in front of the entrance. REALLY?? This is not desirable for my current situation since I'm handicapped from an accident at work. #2- the young lady who seated us ended up being our server, which was fine, except she sat my crippled butt at a table that off balance and super wobbly. To fix the wobblyness someone tried to cram napkins under 2 of legs. This didn't even come close to working. I almost fell while trying to get up using the table for support. So without the restaurants approval, I grabbed our belongs and set up on a different table. Give OTB a try. It's a great place except for the reasons I stated above, and if you sign up for the queso club, you get free queso for a year. Who doesn't love free food. I know this fat boy does.

We were avid OTB eaters up in Dallas, so we had to try the Tyler location. It was alright. Customer service was great, although she did forget a few things we asked her for. People have off days though. My husbands beans were also cold upon arrival to the table. We'd be willing to give it another shot.

Excellent service. The Chips and salsa were frequently filled, fresh and tasty. The food was bland, and not hot. My husband ordered a steak bowl. The sauce over the meat looked disgusting. I had the soup and quesidilla, both were tasteless. The soup might have been good but the large amount of rice absorbed the flavor. I've never had white rice in tortilla soup.

I went here with my mom, I loved it, good food, good people, and a amazing place to eat, especially their balcony with the colorful chairs. It was an exquisite place, the soft warm breeze of cool air blowing in your hair and you breathing in. Especially our waiter, she was amazing. Thank you Emily, you did your job very good and hope to see you again when we definitely come back again! Just remember go for a reason not just to eat but to spend time to make this time more enjoyable! Thanks you, Emily and On The Border!😄

Plenty or parking We were seated quickly and the food arrived quickly. Floors were clean and our server was nice.

We we're seated pretty quickly but out waiter took too long getting there. Overall, the service was very slow and we could have been sitting at any of the other open seats than the one right across from the family with noisy toddlers and a fussy baby. I mean I get it, I have kids too but that's not atmosphere we'd wanted. We were wanting a break from kids for an evening.

Second time eating here. Food was okay. Server was very friendly and efficient. Not many people were there and it took 30 minutes to get my fish tacos from the kitchen. Fish had been chopped up to make sure it was cooked through. Not very fast on service or being able to pay your bill. I had to get up and walk through the restaurant to find the waitress hanging out with em other servers in a corner.

Best Tex Mex in town. I know, I know its blasphemy to say its not a local place, especially in Tyler where its the staple meal. Note its not Mexican, its Tex Mex. Regardless excellent food everyime, a nice bar and an amazing location with space and colorful interior. Been a bunch. Great everytime

The most enjoyable part of the meal was the service our waitress was awesome. The fajitas well to be honest had no flavoring. William George sells better fajita meat than what they're serving and it's already seasoned and everything. Also some of the pieces were rather pink and a little bit bloody. Cheese dip typical queso Velveeta melted nothing special. Chips were great. Beans and rice mediocre . Sorry guys I'm still trying to wonder what keeps this place in business I highly doubt it's the food it must be the service in the alcohol. I really didn't want to complain what we are there because the waitress we had was so nice she was doing everything she could to keep up. Sorry gang we won't be coming back.

This is a very overdue review. A few months ago, a few relatives and I went out to eat. One of the relatives is visually impaired. To my surprise the manager, a very young lady, cannot remember her name, seated us, brought us our menu and brought a braille menu for our relative too... This is the FIRST time I have ever witnessed this in Tyler... It was very sweet of her to notice and provide the that little detail.. LOVE THE MARGARITAS TOO

Poor experience, poor management and server. It’s a shame to mess up an order, offer to fix the disaster only to make things worse. So I ordered the fajitas, when my food came out they had charred even the meat to a crispy black. I simply asked for it to be remade since I am not a fan of charcoal.. Apparently this upset the server and the kitchen staff because what I received was raw vegetables and the closest description to portobello jerky. Not satisfied with this visit and I would suggest trying another place to eat.

Bring your own salt shakers, and be prepared to ask for tiny servings of margarine. Our server was in a big hurry wherever she was going, but whatever it was was not to refill our drinks or salsa. Apparently the manager who holds the keys to the napkin vault was REALLY busy, because they were very protective of those. Our food got to us in a pretty timely manner, albeit the server just dropped it on the table and left without asking if we needed anything with it. I have to say I enjoyed the atmosphere of intrigue, as my wife and I were always fascinated by questions of, "Where did she go?" And, "Did they close and forget to tell us?" In conclusion, if you really enjoy the company you're with and don't want to be constantly bombarded by friendly servers annoying you with questions like, "Can I get you a refill on that?" You will absolutely love this establishment.

After a doctor's appointment, we stopped for lunch. Hubby had fajitas and I with my lunch carnitas enchiladas. Service was friendly and enjoyable in a clean restaurant that was pleasantly lit any day decorated for Christmas. It quickly became busy as trays of foods went by . A great place for large parties, families, date night, girls night and a place to meet up!

Kendall was amazing! She was very friendly and attentive, definitely one of the best OTB waitresses! Made our dining experience all that much better. Their margaritas are some of my favorite.

I enjoyed the decor and vibe of the place. They have a charming courtyard outside, in the front. We enjoyed the salsa and chips. The salsa has a bit of kick to it that slowly builds, but it doesn't take away the flavor. The chips are crisp and plentiful. I ordered a protein bowl and it was good! Very flavorful and filling.
