I stayed at Arma Resort more than a month ago, it has taken me over 5 weeks to pen down this review because I kept asking myself "how do you exhaustively describe such a place?" the answer "I think it's practically impossible to thoroughly detail the beauty and tranquility of the resort". The online pictures don't do the place justice. For me, personally, attempting to describe the place and their services, also doesn't do it justice. Let me try to describe the place: tranquility, the sound of gentle water fountains, tiny streams flowing throughout the resort, lush green rice fields, the sound of chirping birds, multiple outdoor sitting places, beautiful forestry all around, constantly smiling staff......NOW I KNOW WHAT PARADISE LOOKS LIKE 😊😍😊

This place is amazingly beautiful, such a big area with little creek, pond, bridges, mini rice fields, and art gallery. Buildings are beautiful. Great place for people who love taking photos. Staff are friendly. Good location and there's hips of parking space, great (and rare thing in Ubud) if you travel with car. Breakfast menu not great and limited (might be problematic if you stay there for a week or more) but still ok, no buffet menu. The thai Food is so so. Our villa is exotic and beautiful, there's too many steps up and down (1 of them is quite high, i almost fall as I didn't expect it to be that high when i went to toilet). I had to walk through 3 little rooms to get to the toilet from bedroom (crazy). But the worst thing is the whole villa has 5 rooms in it, separated by wall, but it has no ceiling and only have 1 AC next to our bed. It might be cool enough when you sit, but when you sleep, your back and the bed is hot. We didn't sleep well because of it. To Arma management: Please install ceiling in your Villa so your AC will work effectively and efficiently, it will safe the electricity and compressor of AC. Our villa was 816.

My stay at the Arma Museum and Resort was truly memorable. The villa with a private pool was a dream, offering stunning views of the surrounding rice fields. The hotel's traditional Balinese architecture and decor added to its charm, making me feel immersed in the local culture. The highlight of my stay was the hotel's museum, which showcases the works of local artists. The collection was impressive, and I was amazed by the talent and creativity of the artists. It was a unique and enriching experience to explore the museum. The staff at the hotel were exceptional, providing attentive and friendly service throughout my stay. They went above and beyond to ensure that I had a comfortable and enjoyable experience. The location of the hotel in Ubud is excellent, providing easy access to the town's attractions and offering a peaceful retreat away from the hustle and bustle. The amenities at the hotel were excellent, and I particularly enjoyed the food, which was delicious and beautifully presented. Overall, I highly recommend the Arma Museum and Resort to anyone visiting Ubud. It offers a perfect blend of traditional Balinese hospitality, luxury accommodation, and cultural experiences that will make your stay in Bali truly unforgettable.

It’s like coming home, the resort is naturally beautiful and exquisitely taken care of. Everywhere you look there’s been lots of loving care and attention to keeping the grounds well maintained. The service is next level. Nothing is a bother and the staff go out of their way to ensure you are well looked after. We have been here many times and will continue to remain loyal Arma guests for many years to come. Can highly recommend the Villa experience.

This is a must-visit when you are in Ubud. We love this place. You enjoyed every aspect. Wednesday evening we watched a real traditional Balinese dance performance, the cafe was peaceful and awesome, the museum, art & garden superb, the ambience, delightful. You are in natural surrounds so this is reflected in the flora and fauna, as you will find anywhere that is in harmony with the environment. It was a delight to observe the school girls getting traditional dance lessons, as well as seeing working artists in the complex. Definitely recommended. Easy and lovely staff

I only came for the Logong dances on Wednesday night, but it was incredible. It’s nice to see what traditional Balinese dances actually are like, as opposed to the overly-embellished shows that are performed elsewhere for tourists. That being said, kecak is a dance from the 1930s that is done only for tourists.

I was there and spent 2 nights when I got accomodation facility from the board of Ubud Village Jazz Festival (UVJF), since I was performing in the UVJF 2021. The ambience of the nature is really great, the room is clean and the service was good. Landscape around the hotel is great, the paddy field is so close with my room area. There is a path that connect the hotel to the Arma Museum.

We booked for 5 nights the superior villa for a total price of 800$. It was an amazing experience for our honeymoon where the resort will let you be immersed in nature. Rooms are huge and the bathtub can fit 2 people easily! The breakfast is not varied but good enough. We also had the romantic dinner which Dude (the head chef) served us and explained every detail for the preparation an unforgettable experience!

Absolutely beautiful gardens and resort blended into the natural landscape - a river, rice field, ponds, pools, fountains, and so much more. The culture here is palpable and the staff are so lovely. I was fortunate enough to spend time with Agung Rai (owner/founder) - a humble, wise, and gentle man that loves Bali, art, and culture. Can’t recommend this place enough. The museums, dance show, and gardens are all so authentic and cool for anyone who appreciates these sorts of things.

Beautiful museum with amazing and relaxing garden. The collection of balinese art is interesting, I went on saturday and I loved seeing artists drawing with a model in the central hall of the museum, it's a nice way to promote art and culture. Congratulations on that initiative!

Visited museum and was beyond satisfied ! The ticket is only 100k and has sooo much to offer it’s insane. You can literally spend there all day and it won’t be enough. So many things to explore so many places to see. Take my advice and go there early in the morning and spend there some quality time. Oh. Did I mentioned that you have a coffee and desert included as well in your ticket? Crazy. Definitely worth visiting

Words cannot express enough how magic, unique, beautiful, true Ubud this resort is. The grounds are just amazing, something incredible everywhere you look from the rivers, rice fields, 2 x pools, statutes, restaurant. Location is amazing with yummy restaurants in close walking distance and close to sightseeing spots. A beautiful buffet breakfast. The staff are incredible, nothing is too much and they are always willing to help. I wish everyone could stay here when in Ubud. Just a beautiful resort. Hope to be back really soon.

+ great location, nice garden, free access to the Arma Museum + friendly and helpful staff, clean en hygenic rooms + at arrival we got the choice out of 3 different rooms for the same price (older traditional room or a modern room in the new building + very good hotel for that price! - new building is not so sound proof, we heard a lot of noice from the surrounding rooms Definitely recommend it!

Quite possibly the most beautiful place I've ever been to. We had our wedding here, and not only was it handled superbly by the team, the whole resort itself is incredible. Staff are so friendly and cannot do enough for you. The museum has some fantastic and interesting pieces, you must at least spend an afternoon here, and if you can stay here as well.

We stayed two nights for our exploration of Ubud. On the plus side the location is outstanding. The grounds and gardens are superb. We loved the artistic vibe and the Arma museum/gallery is by far the best in Ubud. The pool was lovely, the breakfast very good and the service excellent. On the downside, the room was a little spartan - little room to unpack - and most bizarre of all, it only had a bath with a ‘telephone’ shower that didn’t even reach high enough to stand under it. I called reception upon arrival to ask for a room with a shower to be told that they were all like this. Perhaps the villas in the grounds are more modern? But for us in the humidity and heat of Ubud where you want at least two showers a day this was a significant omission. The extras, such as drinks and the spa were overpriced but excellent alternatives are freely available in town so this wasn’t an issue. Overall though it deserves its 5 stars. It is an oasis of calmness and serenity. We would go back.

the place is very nice and the installations are amazing but its not maintained properly. You can see some insects living inside some of the installation. Be prepared with mosquitoes repellent cream or something because you will get a lot of mosquito bites. Other than that the place is really amazing and you can see the amount of efforts put inside and outside the museum. They have both traditional and modern sections in the museum

Had an amazing spa day with my wife at the Arma Spa. This is our third time at Arma and their manager, Rina has taken care of us every time. Her therapists are truly professional and make you feel so comfortable. I highly recommend this spa.

Museum visit for IDR150K per person. Great private collection. Modern and contemporary. Included in the ticket for the museum comes a free coffee or tea. The grounds are very well maintained. Great place for art lovers.

We were there for lunch and to look through its art gallery museum. Lunch was lovely as there weren't many people dining so it wasn't crowded, service was excellent and we had crispy duck which was delicious. The museum got better as we wandered through all its heritage buildings of art pieces and gardens. A peaceful place.

Although I have never stayed at the Hotel we have had 2 very magical experiences at the Hotel spa ran by Rina. Once last year for my birthday and again this year for my husband's birthday and WOW SO AWESOME!!!! Shout out to my therapist Nophie who did an amazing Balinese traditional massage!!! This spa will leave you feeling in total bliss!!

Stayed at ARMA for 6 nights in one of the Deluxe Rooms and it was an absolute oasis. My light-filled room had French windows overlooking the sprawling garden, and it provided the most serene vibes. Set in lush, tropical grounds over 7 hectares there was much to explore. Beautiful gardens with jungle vibes and the friendliest staff made for a very enjoyable stay. In quiet of the mornings I would stroll through the hotel’s gardens, and to the adjacent rice paddy and the nearby village for a peaceful morning walk. Quite close to plenty of restaurants and only a 10-min walk to the Yoga Barn, another calm oasis. The museum itself contains beautiful artwork, both historical and modern. And it was so lovely chatting to the local artists who based themselves on the ARMA grounds working on their craft. The pool, spa massage and restaurant were all top notch. Highly recommend a stay at ARMA.

We stayed for 5 nights and it was a very enjoyable experience. The staff was extremely friendly, the room was spacious and hygienic, and the thing we liked the most was the vegetation and the overall atmosphere throughout the resort. Two less positive aspects for us were: - the diversity of the breakfast (some of the food was being changed daily but overall we felt that the options were limited) - the shared pool was a little too small (a little bigger would have been ideal) Overall, a great experience, and would totally recomand the stay here.

Horrible experience with lots of mosquitoes, biting us while sleeping, even though we used both nets and oils. Caution! Very slippery floors in the bathroom resulting in injured shoulder. The breakfast had flies on the fruit and the cheese. The staff is very friendly though.

I went there for office gathering. It was a good experience for art and painting. I believe Indonesia should have more people like Pak Agung Rai who preserved art collection from Balinese people. The museum consists of painting and sculpture related to Bali or Balinese. It also has small cafe for you to sit down and relaxed after moderately walking through art collection.

Although the whole resort flooded on our first day there, our stay was still super comfortable. We were in a private villa with a pool and a little garden. The resort has a spa with a beautiful pool and skilled therapists. A very good breakfast is included in the room rate. There are two restaurants on the premises. Other than the breakfast, the food was not great, because they try to offer “Western” food for the most part and they simply don’t understand what a toasted ham & cheese is. There is a wonderful art museum on the premises- modern and traditional art - a must see and free entry for guests at the resort. Great stay and very good value for money

Grounds are beautiful and the suite villa is very luxurious looking. We were over the moon when we walked in. We did have a few house guests, which we personally liked because lizards and frogs are really cute. But I can imagine if you're not a fan it would be off putting. The reception staff were really helpful and accommodating, such as arranging early check in and a breakfast box on check out as we were leaving really early. Also the location is good with plenty to do nearby. The few notes I have are the maintenance. Pool light hanging off, chipped paint and cleanliness. There were quite a few flies in the bathroom, the bathroom itself wasn't at the standard of cleanliness I'd have expected. Theres an impressive amount of extras, even a razor and shaving foam, however no shampoo or conditioner? Seems odd.

Absolutely mind blowing. Grounds are as spectacular as everyone says. Everything is done so well. Service impeccable. Loved my pool view room in modern building (old building has beautiful doors and bath but I opted for shower room and balcony instead) Museum wonderful comprehensive view of Balinese art through the ages. Sleeping there was like being in the jungle - teaming with amazing sounds of nature. Good selection at breakfast (incl with room). Recommend papaya juice and chicken porridge. They even serve a good gluten free toast with homemade jams. Did the sunrise tour with the founder who was charming and down to earth. A testament to his love for his culture and spirituality as he clearly doesn’t need to do it for the money! Can’t recommend everything here enough! Great location for central ubud too. Waking distance to Jaens Spa which was also wonderful. And Ubud must visit - Tukies coconut dessert shop.

Very nice and friendly staff. A big well cured garden, where you can find a nice museum for modern arts in. Breakfast is very good, small buffet with some salty and sweet offers, fresh fruit and egg station. Rooms are good standard, 2 swimming pools. Be aware of the location, it is for sure not too quite, but very central in Ubud.

  • 5/5 Casey D. 6 months ago on Google
First and foremost the service I received here was above and beyond expatiation. Not only were we helped with everything from early check in to booking a ride to the airport but we had a mount batur hike and they packed us little breakfast boxes because we would miss the breakfast at the hotel! I could go on and on about how the grounds are impressive full of vibrant birds and amazing fish. About the museum and their mission of cultural preservation and education. About the incredible location right in the beating heart of ubud an easy walk to almost anything. But seriously you should go and experience this treasure for yourself.

Beautiful property in the traditional style in the center of Ubud. Great service with breakfast delivered to your villa. The room felt a little too small for the price compared to other properties in Bali. But if traveling with little luggage and don’t spend time in the villa it works bc the location is very central for Ubud. But if you are looking for enjoying some relaxing time in the hotel I think this is not the best option.

  • 5/5 Prince C. 7 months ago on Google
Arma museum is the heart of Ubud when it comes to seeking comfort, peace and above all, beauty that has to be offered by mother nature. This place is so beautiful that i may run short of words. Nonetheless, it is located at a prime location near so many restaurants and supermarkets. Absolutely recommended! Worth every penny! 💰

The hotel is indeed located in a good location with a nice view of rice field and surrounded by big trees. However, they should really work on improving their service if they want to survive. I came to this place to attend 3-day workshop and they weren’t well prepared for the occasion. On day-1 my colleagues and I made order for next day’s breakfast on a paper. Day-2 morning we came down to the restaurant and after 15 minutes waiting the staff came to say they lost our order list. Ok, we repeated our order. Then another 15 minutes, she came again to say they ran out of eggs and asked us to wait because the kitchen staff just left to get eggs 🙈 Another disappointment was during my 3 days stay they served the same slow cooked chicken menu for 3 meals (dinner D1, lunch D2 and D3).. what a boring menu. See on the pics uploaded. I would rather pay more to get a better food rather than the hotel offered a cheap packet with less quality of service. It’s a pity that such a beautiful place wasn’t taken care of by a good management. Not recommended at all!

Here are the some important things about Arma, the employees are delightful, warm and friendly. EKA in the restaurant, Bhima, G-man aka Guzman and other lovely front desk staff, museum staff and cafe staff make your stay comfortable that you will never want to leave. The location is in the heart of UBUD, away from chaos, but just enough distance if you want to go to town it’s walkable. Everything is close by, you can go anywhere with Grab. Love all the food that were served, the staff took good care of me when I had bad stomach, they made me lemongrass tea and bubur to calm my tummy. I love Balinese people, they make me feel like we are family.

The hotel and the staff is absolutely amazing. I had one of my best days, when the owner of the hotel took me for a tour around some sites. It is already some years back. Nevertheless an amazing place. This hotel has „charme“. Walking distance to Yoga Barn etc. Pool area is nice but not too big.

Secret paradise hidden in the center of Ubud. 3 exhibitions buildings with contemporary art and traditional art AND the art of Walter Spies! At night you can see the Most AUTHENTIC version of gamelan and Bali performances. Anytime you can just walk in the Immense garden. The person who work for 20 years on this garden is a passionated artist for sure! Very inspiring.

Such a secret spot in Ubud, and we actually bumped into the museum owner, he was doing the gardening super humble and friendly. The museum contains a modern and traditional art gallery, we enjoyed visiting here during the noontime and also found many gorgeous art pieces of Balinese history.

Got a chance to visit Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) and I am very happy. Pak Agung, the owner was there and he greeted us with smile and friendly chat. The ticket price is IDR 100k and it was worth it!! We got to see paintings and statutes/carvings from Pak Agung’s personal or the foundation’s collection. The ticket is inclusive of snack (Pak Agung’s special steamed banana with coconut sprinkle) and coffee/tea. He has these very old & precious paintings like Affandi, Raden Saleh. The museum area is huge, consists of several buildings with wonderful parks, paintings area and cafe. Must visit place if you go to Ubud.

Incredible resort! Just wow! This place is a must stay! Great location in Ubud with an amazing river flowing through the resort grounds and hindu carvings everywhere - its like staying in one of the temples!

The pool suite villa is absolutely gorgeous, with spacious areas all beautifully decorated. The private pool/garden is stunning with lovely sitting areas perfect for relaxing and enjoying breakfast (which is brought to the villa on request free of charge). The ARMA gardens are amazing with a natural stream running through. The staff was just wonderful and are the most friendly and helpful I have seen a seen during our stay in Bali - this says a lot. The location is very good as well - tonnes of stuff around in a quite busy Ubud area, but one step on the ARMA site and you leave this crazyness to find yourself in an oasis of beauty and peace. Very well situated to visit the many landmarks in this area including the waterfalls and rice terraces.

UPDATE: This place was so great we ended up coming back a second time! This was the best stay during our 2 month honeymoon in Bali! There were so many amazing things about this hotel, here's a list of our favorites. - The villa with the private pool was a STEAL for the price. It was just divinely decorated, spacious, and very private. Certainly made for the most romantic nights of our honeymoon. - They left us beautiful honeymoon details, including a decoration with a heart felt note! - The grounds were incredible! Everywhere felt peaceful and ancient, it felt like being in a relaxing retreat in the past. - The Museum attached to the hotel and free of charge for guests was a beautiful surprise! We got to see live artists working on their craft, and some incredible works or art displayed all over. - The staff was extremely helpful and just wanted enjoy our time with us. Everything felt genuine, they even wanted to take photos with us because of how much we were enjoying our time there. The owner and founder of the museum and hotel walks the grounds constantly tending to the plants, he never says that he is the owner, just likes to pass as a simple gardener, but then engages you in passionate conversations about how nature is art and art is nature. You can tell that this place is the joy of his life!! We also spend the whole day with our driver Katut, who was just such a joy and generous man! - Finally the food and drink prices for the hotel are of the highest quality and very competitive with the rest of the nice restaurants in Ubud, we reccomend the candle lit dinner and the floating breakfast, along with all of the meals made to order directly to your room. Seriously, we will remember this place forever and will rave about it to anyone visiting Ubud!! Thank you!!

Wow what a beautiful place to stay. Perfect location in Ubud, easy walk to monkey forest, town and restaurants. No need to go and see temples because you are staying at one. It was definitely our favourite Hotel in Bali and we traveled around quite a bit. There is a river flowing through the resort, the pool is amazing and there are hindu carvings everywhere. Do the Google street view of the grounds and the lobby and imagine it looks much much better than that in real. There are many great hotels in the world but when do you ever get to stay at a temple. Absolutely amazing place.

My wife and I went to Bali for a 10 day trip and this was by far the best place! Its such an amazingly beautiful place! Its in the heart of Ubud just a few minutes walk from the Sacred Monkey forest and nearby all the other tourist attractions like the Tegenungan waterfall and the Tegallalang rice terrace. But even better is that this place itself could be a tourist attraction. Its rich in culture, has a great restaurant, good pools and has its own rice patties. When you stay here, you also get free admission to the Arma Museum as well. Definitely go check it out, its worth seeing. I highly recommend booking your stay here. Enjoy! :-)

We came to ARMA for the art museum but what a surprise we had! In addition to the painting exhibition, we enjoyed the beautiful garden of the resort and the bar. Personnel was also very nice and trying to help in any possible way. I strongly recommend the visit of this magical oasis in Ubud.
