A fantastic experience... TWICE More than 14 years ago while backpacking through India we met Shashi and took her cooking class ... now I'm back again, this time traveling with family. Shashi, and her family, were just as warm and welcoming as before, the food as delicious as ever, and the experience simply incredible. Learning how to make a glass of masala chai, a stuffed naan, or a full-blown Indian dinner is such a magnificent way to remember our time here in India. Shashi takes such great care in making sure you understand the basics of Indian recipes (e.g. magic/masala sauce), from that point you can the variations you can incorporate seem endless (e.g. chana masala, dahl fried, chicken butter masala, etc). We made more than a half dozen recipes and walked away not only full but with an incredible education and the sense that we made a friend for life. Back home our memories of the people and of our experiences are made all the more vivid as we sit around the table eating and drinking such delicious recipes we learned one afternoon in Shashi's kitchen.

Loved cooking with Shashi. She is an incredible woman with an inspiring story. Also, the food was great! The cooking class made me realize exactly how much oil, ghee and cream is in a lot of Indian dishes, but I liked that she generally takes a healthier approach, e.g. substitutes for cream. We stayed until late and left with very full stomachs!

We had an amazing time with Shashi and her family! She showed us great tips we can also use for cooking other cuisines and great recipes – had almost 15 pages of recipes to cook for just this one night. We loved it, everybody was involved and encouraged to practically contribute to the dishes, also their dog was cute ;) Our highlight in Udaipur, would always come again. Worth every cent! Oh and come hungry!

We had a lovely day enjoying the cooking classes at Shashi’s. She and her family are the nicest and most loving people. Shashi explains everything in detail and gives you really useful tips and tricks. We would recommend everyone who loves Indian food to come and learn how to make it at Shashi’s wonderful, quiet and peaceful home! The food you will learn to make is so much better than food served in restaurants. Thank you very much Shashi for sharing your knowledge and loving energy with us! Greetings, Nancy and Kaya

Probably the highlight of my trip! Shashi welcomed us warmly and taught us how to cook so many different dishes. Her family was also there helping us and guiding us, so we were really well taking care of and all of us got to cook everything, which was amazing. She gives many tips and you'll definitely learn plenty in these hours. The dishes in the end were delicious and it was a lot so; as said in the previous comments, come hungry ! Thank you SO MUCH for the experience, it was awesome.

I highly recommend to take part in Shashis cooking class. She is an inspiring women with lots of power and energy. She has great knowledge about cooking Indian food and is very happy to share all the details with you. We received a handout of more than 10 pages, so you have all the details already taken down for when you're back home. The food was absolutely delicious and we spent more than 4 hours there. We cooked many different types of foods, breads, desserts, so you have a big range of indian specialities. Highly recommended!

6 stars is my real rating. This is the kind of experiences you save for when you are traveling on a budget. I can't emphasize enough how much I recommend this cooking class. Besides from the awesome cook and teacher that Shashi is, she and his son are amazing human beings. They bring back the charm of home cooked food and defeat even the fanciest restaurants we have been in India (by far). The kitchen is nice and spacious but humble enough so you can feel familiar with every cooking instrument. Make everything from scratch and end up with a feast of Indian food and a take-away of lifelong friendship.

Fantastic class ran by a brilliant family. Shashi has a powerful story and has managed to use her skills to create a cooking class that is in depth while also being fun and understandable. All the food was delicious and I can’t wait to cook it for family and friends soon.

I really enjoyed this cooking class with Shashi and her son. The dishes we cooked were delicious and homely/things you could make regularly. She also described many more variations you could make with the same bases. You felt very welcome in her home and learnt about her culture. I can’t wait to cook what I learnt for my friends and family. Highly recommend.

We were recommended by a friend to do this class and it was the best thing we have done in Rajasthan. Shashi and her sons know so much about how to cook Indian food. You also get given a recipe booklet and get to eat all the food!! If you are in udaipur it is a must !
