👍 It is a pretty nice museum. But it would be a better place with English descriptions for objects exhibited. People often mention English, museum, Mongolian, history, floor, floors, nice, time, Mongolia, code,

Pleasantly surprised to see this new museum, new in that it was not here the last time I was in UB, about 8 years' ago and the sheer size of it on entrance is awe inspiring..... its a big massive building. Fitting I guess for the subject matter! Costs about 10 Euros to enter, and there are 6 floors of history to get going through, plus a cafe at first floor, and a viewing platform at the top (closed when I was there), so its a real calorie counting workout to get all the ancient history of Mongolia done within one visit. For me one of the attractions of a place like this is if I learn some new and interesting history. I did.....I learnt a lot.....for example...how far into Europe the Mongols went, the Islamic connections, the burial chambers, and the weaponry they used back in the day, amongst a host of other things. The exhibitions are very well done up, and it is nicely spaced out. There are elevators to take you to each floor, and plenty of seating available for those who want to take a breather. All in all I spent a few hours here soaking up all the fascinating history. It is a great museum, possibly the best I think I have ever been too.....if I think about it...and another example of how this city is modernizing and moving with the times. Very much recommended!

Impressive, 8 floors of exhibitions, very meticulously made with really interesting pieces. Stylish interior. Unfortunately english translations are only available only by scanning the QR code, which is a little uncomfortable especially when you are a tourist running errands, make sure your phone battery is full when coming.

Admission fee is 30,000MNT for adults. There are self-service ticket corner, free cloakroom and locker at the 1st floor. One of the interesting thing I noticed is a Cashmere picture of the Chinggis Khaan at the Entrance. At every floor clean toilets are available. It is NOT allowed to take a picture of the exibitions and touch them. At 7th floor there is big hall for meeting and at 9th floor there is VIP hall for reception or conference. This 9th floor Chinggis khaan museum was built by State budget and opened in October, 2022.

Great museum. Very informative English speaking guide. Only disappointment was that you could never walk around by yourself without a guide as there is no English anywhere to read. It's all Mongolian so not helpful for other people from other countries visiting. You always go to Museums in other countries, but this is the first time there has been No English to read or learn about another countries history.

Great museum, the operating hours are a bit short. The person at the front desk wasn’t very nice. I wish they printed out nicer entrance tickets that features some of the artefacts. The exhibitions were very interesting, I was surprised to see that most of them were original artefacts. Hopefully they add english descriptions for them soon.

It's a great museum to know more about Mongolian history and culture. The only down side is there is no English description printed on the wall, you'll have to scan a QR code to get the English translation on your phone.

It was nicely throughout the museum. It was organized in a timely manner. And great museum to see. Please be courteous and restrain yourself from taking photos inside. They have designated spots to take photo. But still, people taking pictures when it was advised not to take pictures of the artifacts.

Fantastic and modern museum about the history of Mongolia, not only Chinggis Khaan! Unfortunately, 3h were not enough to visit it fully, I saw only a few of the floors, and the museum closes quite early (17:00)... I will have to return another day, but that's a bummer, considering the high ticket price (30'000₮). Otherwise, totally worth the visit, the exhibition is very well prepared! Too bad for the lack of English labels, apart from some qr codes on the main texts (which often are missing anyway)... I really don't understand why you're so obsessed with prohibiting to take photos, it would only make you good free advertisement!

Really nice museum. As a heads-up, if you buy a ticket with photography at the automated machines, that does not include your entrance ticket. Also the exhibit explanations can only be read in english (or non local language) by accessing a QR code next to each item (I don't have the patience for that so didn't learn as much as I would have liked but the artifacts are still nice to look at).

Really worth it. Very complete, with 7 floors of Mongolian history, from the bronze age all the way to the 20th century. The only negative point is that the texts on display were only in Mongolian (Cyrillic and traditional scripts) and to see it in English you needed to scan a QR code at every exhibit. But that's only a minor inconvenience. The video displays were in Mongolian and English subtitles

Well worth a couple of hours to learn the fascinating history of various Mongolian people and empires. The displays and accompanying research are excellent. I particularly enjoyed the large animated maps with subtitles in English. They really helped set the scene for each major exhibit area.

This is a really nice coffee shop inside the new Museum....with cool decor and comfortable chairs. Good coffee, and food has been tasty so far. (have tried the cheesecake and chicken panini) BUT, when I came today to work a bit it was very noisy, full of Jr. and Sr. High school students soon after I arrived. Few of them ordered anything, brought their own food/drink, and came to hang out and use the free wifi. I know this is hard to control, but it seems to me that the atmosphere of your coffee shop will be diminished if you allow young people to use it as a place to simply hang out and be very noisy. (I love young people and their "liveliness" but maybe a few rules about just hanging out in large groups, not ordering anything, and using the free wifi would help weed out some of the "замбараагүй" I experienced today!) If you are someone wanting to work a bit peacefully, perhaps morning is a better time to come.

Just NE of the main square, this new museum is one of the best I've been to anywhere. Nicely spaced and paced, loads of AV stuff, and a QR code on every exhibit that takes you to a web page on it in your preferred language. A lot of thought and money has clearly been spent but it's not been wasted

30.000 tg the ticket (9 us dollars) it's not cheap if you are living in Mongolia but for kids it's free ! Wonderful Museum, must be improved the Souvenir shop, full of Mongolian traditions and history. Great Job Mongolia! 🇲🇳 little problem: no descriptions in English language, only Mongolian language but you can scan a QR code and get all the infos on your phone in English, Mongolian and Russian language too. No possibility of doing Photos or Videos not even if you want to pay an extra fee for it. =/

By far the best museum in UB. Use your QR scanner if you only speak English like me to be able to read the exhibits, this way you'll only really miss 5 percent of the museum (or maybe I just missed the QR codes). Could easily spend more than 2 hours here, i spent 3 before I had other engagements...would go back again

It was an amazing experience and well worth the price! Even though there is no English explanations, you can buy the tickets right at the entrance and choose to hire an English Interpreter/guide for 100,000MNT (otherwise, without it would cost 30k). They accept cards. My guide, Nagar, was especially very insightful when explaining the exhibits on all levels. He tried his best to answer every question that I had, and the tour lasted for around 3 hours!! It felt like learning Mongolia History 101 with him 😁 Most of the artefacts were original, and very few were replicas. All of them were so well preserved. Additionally, there is a souvenir shop that sells things from keychains, postcards, bags, books, to cashmere. You can take photos on certain levels, but it's largely prohibited. Dont think it's that much of a problem though. Anyway! I would highly recommend this place AND hiring the guide for anyone who wishes to learn more about Mongolia's early empires.

The museum itself it quite nice, but what ruined the experience for me (as an English speaker) is that you need to scan a QR code for every single piece for information. All the exhibit descriptions are in Mongolian and Russian. You spend most your time looking at your phone. It get’s very tiring scanning 300 QR codes. There’s 9 floors and not all the pieces have QR codes.

Must visit! I didn’t have much time so I ran through all 9 floors in under 90mins - totally worth it and doable (esp bc all audio/text is in Mongolian and Russian) so a quick QR scan to sort title of piece/exhibition in English was all I needed. I didn’t get a guide bc of time but I think that would have added significantly to the experience.

A must see. Great new museum, opened in 2019. Lack of English is an omission but helps move quickly and I thought it was all rather self explanatory.

Each floor is designated for a specific era of the Mongolian history. There are no descriptions in English, you can get them by scanning the QR codes next to each exhibition. You can buy the tickets at the entrance. The electronic points of sale require a local phone number, if you don't have one, it's best to go to the front desk. It's not allowed to take pictures.

(Translated by Google) 8 floors of amazing exhibits. The halls are divided by theme and time period. It is forbidden to take pictures of the exhibits, and the museum staff monitors this, but they somehow selectively monitor it, because other visitors continued to take pictures. There is some kind of interactive tour in Mongolian. A big minus is that the descriptions of the exhibits are not translated from the Mongolian language. If you walk with knowledge of Russian and English, you will understand little.

(Translated by Google) A huge modern museum of several floors (6 or 8 did not remember exactly). On each floor there is an exposition from a certain historical era on the territory of modern Mongolia, starting from the civilization of the Huns. Signatures for exhibits in Mongolian are sometimes duplicated in English. In addition, there are barcodes for translation into English or Russian on a smartphone. There is a possibility of 3-dimensional visualization on tablets. In general, you need at least one day to see everything in detail.
