Roast & Coffee (Desa Cemerlang)

Restaurant

😐 Very crowded and i can see why. Reasonably priced and decent food. Had Mee Rebus with Otak and it was pretty good. Its not your usual full bodies nutty gua but its still very much flavourful. Generous with the amount of gua and its amazing to dip in with their kaya butter toast bread. Decent milk te... People often mention good, breakfast, local, coffee, toast, butter, service, crowded, nice, cafe,

Happen to be at this area. Seeing that this cafe restaurant is quite crowded, I decide to try it out. Although the food presentations are simple , but the coffee is strong & tasty. Foods are very nice and delicious too. Environment is clean and comfortable. Toilet is hygienic too. Also well spaced between seats. Very recommended during off peak hours as it can be very crowded. Very nice cafe restaurant 👍

Very crowded and i can see why. Reasonably priced and decent food. Had Mee Rebus with Otak and it was pretty good. Its not your usual full bodies nutty gua but its still very much flavourful. Generous with the amount of gua and its amazing to dip in with their kaya butter toast bread. Decent milk tea and nicely done half-boiled kampung eggs, almost perfect. Do eat their toast asap when they are served, otherwise it will soften. Would have given 4 stars if not for their service. Dun get me wrong though. Very good attitude and service but we waited 30mins for one cup of yuanyang. 😅

When you want a decent place for a quick fix, this is the one place that never fails you. The food serving is worth the price you pay for, more comparable to hawker centre. Food quality is fabulous.

We arrived as the business was opening . We had coffee and Barley Lemon Tea . Quite good . Breakfast was top notch , cooked well , the samba was excellent. Server was attentive, we were able to pay quickly and move on . My wife’s fish soup did take much longer to produce and was a bit slower as I waited for her food to be delivered. I do not know why it took so much longer and the server did not explain but was still quite pleasant . A nice way to have a Sunday morning meal with your spouse .

Good place for breakfast or brunch. I went there around 11AM on Friday, quite crowded. They provide indoor and outdoor area for dine-in. Their Signature Laksa so sedap, and their coffee (the one with butter) must try!!!

6 of us went for breakfast. Many varieties and choices to choose from, local and western. We order local breakfast, toasted bread, Laksa, mee rebus and messiam. Very authentic and flavourful, but a little too sweet for us ( personal preference), it would be perfect in cut down 30% sweetness. Local kopi-o-o is great. The place is comfortable, and the staff are young and attentive. Surely will return.

Our usual go-to place for brunch. Food is generally good though I'm not a fan of their dishes with fried chicken/fish/prawns etc. They use too much batter. Their Wednesday special, Chicken rice is nice...should make it a regular item.

Regardless of which outlet you go to, the staff never fail to give the best service. We are spoilt for choice with variety of local delights. You must see it to believe it! Food are delicious with generous amount of quality ingredients. This is the best value for money place cafe everyone should visit. My favourite must visit cafe everytime I visit JB. One thing I can suggest is to have a corner with more comfortable seats so customers and have their catchup sessions there. Love to stay longer but current stools used were to hard, haha. Thank you R&C, you are the best!

Good food. The portion is too big for me while I am ordering the chicken chop salted egg. Price was ok but slightly high compare to local Chinese restaurant la..is more to cafe style of local food.

Great place to have breakfast. Wide menu variety; clean and spacious with indoor and outdoor seating. Good crowd on a weekday, but fast service. This is my first time at this branch. No complaints as consistent food quality throughout all their outlets.

Plenty of food choices so it deserve a four star but food taste is so so. However this place is crowded during lunch. And the service is good and fast. Recommended to try.

Wonderful local breakfast with the best of everything in one shop! The vibe is great! It’s buzzing with people and every body looks happy. The kaya toast could do with a bit more kaya. Butter is over-indexed here. The mini mantou with the salted egg sauce is a must-try. These little delights are what you need to start the day off on the right and bright note! Cham - coffee and tea could do more of coffee. Not that well-balanced. But on a whole, there’s more hits and misses. Go in a big group so that you can share and try as many food as possible. Will be back!

The signature laksa was creamy but the flavour was slightly lacking as I like my laksa thicker, if you add more Sambal though it gives it a good boost. The mee Siam was good with the addition of Ayam rendang. The deep fried mantau with salted egg yolk sauce was quite good as well, though the sauce could be slightly thicker.

Roast & Coffee places have sprung up in four places around Johor Bahru now, staffed very well by young energetic employees. Six of us came in to this one for a late breakfast, the place was packed, we waited, not long for a table and were soon seated inside, more people piled in after us. They have a varied mostly local menu quite suited to our late breakfast needs. The food was good, the service was super efficient, the staff really pay attention to the customer, which makes this a very popular place for breakfast. I lapped up the butter toast (no kaya) with a bowl of two half boiled eggs, almost but not quite like poached eggs on toast.

Food is delicious and the price is reasonable. The coffee ice is nice and must try the Madam J Seafood White Mihun.

Singapore Hokkien Prawn Mee -gravy is too watery, and the noodle used does not absorb the gravy and hence tasteless. Mee Rebus standard has dropped, cannot taste the peanuts, which I was previously impressed by the abundance of peanuts in the gravy. Now I am disappointed. The fried chicken thigh meat is still good as previously I tried the fried Mee siam with fried boneless chicken thigh. Meesiam quite dry and did not taste nice. Coffee is still as good. Ambience wise - a bit too noisy as we were surrounded by all the echos sound. Will come again to try other food varieties.

Had lots of table so it easily could fit many customers at a time without them waiting too long. The service was fast and the staffs were friendly. Cendol was top notch. The only downfall is the portion/size of bread items (toast) is too small for the price compared to other places.

This restaurant should try. At least till now on, I went to so many times, and try order vary dishes, every dish I have eaten never gave me disappointed feel. French toast peanut butter is my favourite breakfast meal. I like their idea of juicy peanut inside, when you cut down the middle of bread, the liquid peanut running out from it. So excited to see!

My rare 5 stars to a cafe review. Not sure if I am lucky? Went there on Saturday 930am, line for less than 10mins and got seat. All the food we ordered are good, real good. Food arrive within 15 mins despite the crowd. My husband praised the taste many times while eating. The butter in the toast is so generous and it filled up my mouth with full of mixture of kaya and butter fragrance. There are many more food on the menu we like to try. See you next time!

It was crowded. You can have your local delights here. I love the coffee. Great place to have meals during weekends with the families.

This restaurant used to be situated in the downtown area and was really popular and always crowded. When struggling to figure out where to eat, this never failed to come to mind due to their vast variety of choices for local delights. Most importantly, always loved their food. Delicious and of quality.

The mee siam is the best I have ever tried in JB for recent years, with their signature sambal belancan, very appealing. Will definitely try thier other food.
