Went for lunch today, ordered a few dishes. We always enjoy Founder’s food. We ordered all these below (kindly refer to images) the chicken & fries served really late (I guess they left out) but it’s okay, we asked & waited. Few moments later, chicken dish is finally here… I started eating chinese coriander on top of the chicken… and I spit out, because I felt new to the texture. So I spitted out, I thought it’s mushroom, but then I checked again, there’s no mushroom in that dish. So I took a look closer, I thought it was a baby leech? Ohwow no, it’s MOVING! ITS A BABY SNAIL (fyi, without shell)! ITS GLIDING!!! I tasted a live baby snail and spit out alive too! 🤣 IM AMAZED it’s still alive. So i told the first server (not sure is p.i.c/manager of the Founder?) about it, he only said oh want me to send back and let the kitchen check? I said no, because only will end up replace another plate or another meaningless of waiting. But he didn’t apologise. And he just left and didn’t take any further action. Don’t think he recognise the emotion we are feeling in the situation… Seemed like tasted/ having an alive snail in my food is completely normal, no big deal la, veggie got worms only. 🤷🏻‍♀️ We then told another server after-all, because is somehow disgusted by the issue… and also how can he (first server) not taking this seriously? 1. After complaining… he never offer to change my plate (the snail still gliding on my plate and having it’s own sweet time) 2. No apologies at all from the p.i.c (also the first person we complained to). Only the counter attendant (Chinese) and another Chinese server (that we complained second time) mentioned sorry. 3. Don’t think he appreciated the complaint/ take it seriously or perhaps didn’t empathise with the situation we are in. 4. Instead of apologising himself, he sent the chinese server to hand us a bag of gift (granola & peanut butter if not mistaken) 5. He then came by only when we asked if we should pay for the dish? And he said they gv 20% discount for the whole bill. (We still need to pay for the chicken) and also this one (the gift) already gv u all for FREE. (Still no apologies from him of course, and with that attitude 🤷🏻‍♀️ ) 6. After that, only he waived out the chicken dish bill and 20% for the whole bill. But we didn’t accept the gift, because we actually don’t need a FREE gift 😅 seemed like he is unhappy with it too 🤷🏻‍♀️ still no sorry from him. Actually what we need is a better attitude from the p.i.c, at least you do concern customer’s satisfaction after complaining? And reassure that customer’s complaint is being taken seriously? Not sure how serious it could be by having an alive snail in my food. And it’s still alive after I spit out 🙂 Understandable too to have worms/ tiny creatures on veggies (because didn’t wash thoroughly?) But it is an extremely important responsibility of every F&B service to serve guest hygienic food & beverage right? As well as well mannered in servicing. Thanks to the second server, he did a good job. Not first time here, food is good, feeds the soul. But not sure about the chicken…….

Love the interior concept and decorations, instagrammable. The pastas ain't that tasty for me, however the pastries and bakeries are delicious. Price wise is affordable considering the foods there. Service is excellent. Would love to come back again.

Love their bagel! Will need to pay original price if you want to choose your own bagel! Their cream cheese is a must as it really enhance the flavour of the bagels, especially the jalapeños bagel! Bagels were well toasted too 👍🏻 love the peanut butter bagel too, won’t go wrong with this combination!

Went there on a Friday afternoon for tea break and had a really good experience—from dessert to ambiance to staff. The lemon tart was one of the better tarts I’ve had. My friend really liked the fruit cake though I thought it was a tad sweet for my palette. Very aesthetic and would definitely go there again to try their brunch/mains. Not to mention, there were 2 commendable staff, Jayden and Bryan, who went the extra mile and made our dining experience really great.

Located in an industrial zone, the cafe is not consider an accessible location. Normally, not a big problem for local as most of people here drive. But if you're here as a tourist the place may not stay high on your list. Having say that, if you just wish to chill and relax far away from the bustling city centre. The cafe offers a good environment for you to enjoy some coffee and pastries.

Was impressed by the design and deco. and also the size, it's spacious. My friend that brought me here says the foods tasted much better for his previous visit, so maybe the chef should look into the consistency of the food quality. But to me, foods meet my expectations. Service is quite fast. The only downside is... The music (Christmas song) was too loud (maybe just during these festive season,I am not sure), we decided to skip the dessert coz we hardly continue our conversation 😂 Overall I enjoyed my breakfast here. Will definitely come back again for other items on the menu. Hopefully the next visit, music volume is softer and it would be perfect.

Very spacious & nice vibes! Giving it 2 stars for the vibes & aesthetics. Ordered 3 items, and was disappointed by the taste - (1) basque cheesecake, (2) cinnamon sugar donut, (3) iced mocha. (1) The basque cheesecake was lacking in cream cheese flavour. It merely tasted like vanilla with milk, and the cheesecake was hard & dry. Aesthetic cake though. (2) The cinnamon sugar donut tasted average, something that could be found at a normal bread/bakery shop. The only dislike I have is that it’s not fluffy & you could see the flour clumps/ the donut dough did not rise nicely. (3) Iced mocha was lacking in taste. It didn’t wow us. It tasted just like cocoa powder filled with water. Above are my personal opinions on their desserts! Perhaps the main dishes are better than their desserts?

This cafe is an easy 5-star rating from me. The taste of their food and drinks, as well as the atmosphere of the cafe were outstanding. The prices were reasonable too. I'd visit again next time and recommend others to give it a try if you're in JB If I have to point out something, I'd say that they shouldn't have given my "extra top-up of sunny side egg" immediately from the start, like 15 minutes before the main dishes even arrived. That just makes the egg stand there and cool down unnecessarily because I'm assuming most people would top up the egg to eat together with the main dish, and not by itself

Food was good, with a nice variety available. The bagel was delicious, with a chewy dough and flavourful filling. The breakfast platter was also palatable, and the brioche was soft and the outer surface was well toasted. Coffee could have a better profile, and the shots were not consistently pulled right. One of the two cups of flat white tasted over extracted, with obvious burnt taste. During the meal, a staff came over and showed me photos of my car. Apparently, I had knocked over the lamp which was strangely placed on the floor right outside the rear end of the lot outside a factory unit. According to her, the boss of the restaurant will contact me. I went to check out the situation and realised that the lamp dropped out with no physical damage. Using my tool kit, i was able to secure the lamp and put it back in place. The annoyance came when I informed the owner of the factory unit about it. I apologised for my mistake, and I told him that I did not notice the lamp and I was not familiar with the surrounding as it was my first visit to the cafe. To which he replied “Don’t bluff, he (boss of Founders cafe) said he knows you very well when I showed him the car, and you always come here to eat.” Utter rubbish. I tried to explain that it was indeed my first visit, to which he continued to ask me not to find excuses. The matter was resolved amicably in the end, but it was a very unpleasant encounter. Just when I thought things couldn’t be worse, I discovered two long scratches of at least 15cm on my car. While the poor experience was not directly linked to the cafe, the parking certainly is something that would make me think twice about going there again, although you might be able to park your car right in front of the cafe if there is a lot in the limited space. And it irks me when the truth is twisted. If the boss really did mention that I am a regular customer when it is not the case for whatever reasons, I certainly do not welcome that fact distortion.

Place is really cool, interior is nice and spacious. A bit warm but it’s fine. Food portions are large but the taste wise can be better. Coffee was bad. Hot latte was milky, and iced white was coffee-flavoured milk. They gave us a free cinnamon bread at the end (I think table gets one), which was pretty courteous! Overall worth a go.

The FOUNDERS cafe! Brought there by a friends who love cafe food, this place echos chill vibes. Its air conditioned and seats are plentiful during non-peak periods. As a cafe, the food is quite expensive (hence the minus star) and for the price you pay, its just above average. But why the high rating of 4*, it is cause of their bagels. Their luke warm bagel when bitten on a empty stomach, imagine it's warmth and chewy. It was so yummy that we even ordered take away, so we can heat it up later as breakfast tomorrow. Not really accessible to public transport so yep take a car there! It's worth it once, repeated? Maybe for the bagels cause it is their Highlight dish after all.

REALLY COOL PLACE, food is really tasty especially their bagels!!! But i waited for a bit because there were lot of people when i was there, drinks were kinda slow but totally worth the wait. Great place for pictures and there is a store on the 2nd floor for you to shop while waiting for a seat! THE BAGELS ARE REALLY NICE ORDER DA BAGELS!

Highly recommend the bagel with beef and hash browns. Adding jalapenos on it gives an extra kick. Thai basil chicken pesto pasta is another good one, especially with the thick creamy sauce. But its a bit salty. Very crowded though, so you might need to wait some time to get a seat.

The place has really cool aesthetics. Food wise, it is pretty solid. I would come back here to try the other options on their menu. I manage to snag the last box of cinnamon roll from that day. It is really good and I would recommend it.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Founders Cafe, and it was an unforgettable experience from start to finish. The menu offered a diverse selection of delectable dishes, and I had the opportunity to try three of their signature items: Aussies Beef Bagel, Spicy Thai Pasta, and Quesadilla. 1) Aussies Beef Bagel: The Aussies Beef Bagel was a perfect fusion of flavors. The succulent beef paired wonderfully with the soft, toasted bagel, and the accompanying toppings added an extra layer of deliciousness. It was a delightful combination that left my taste buds thoroughly satisfied. 2) Spicy Thai Pasta: The Spicy Thai Pasta was a delightful surprise. The blend of Thai spices with pasta created an explosion of flavors that delighted my palate. The dish had the right amount of spiciness, making it a perfect choice for those who enjoy a little kick in their meal. 3) Quesadilla: The Quesadilla was a savory delight. The perfect Tom yum scrambled eggs oozed out with every bite. It was a comforting treat that left me craving for more. Aside from the scrumptious food, the restaurant's attentive staff and prompt service added to the overall positive experience. The staff members were friendly and attentive, making sure all our needs were met throughout the meal. I was impressed by the organized queueing system, which ensured a smooth and efficient process, even during peak hours. Moreover, the ample parking space available made it convenient for diners to visit the restaurant without any hassle. The minimalistic ambiance of the space was refreshing. The simple yet tasteful decor allowed the focus to remain on the food, creating a relaxing atmosphere to enjoy the food.

They are not joking when they say they’re “the best bagels” ok. Phoned at 3pm to reserve bagels for pickup later that night, but arrived unexpectedly late due to traffic quite near closing time, but my order was still held. Super appreciate 👍🏻 Had brunch and dinner a few times here also and to be honest, prefer the brunch (ambience, food). Particularly enjoyed the vegetarian options, do try those they’re really good. Will surely come back again.

Food was very good! The english breakfast was surprisingly good, since I usually don’t enjoy chick peas. The quesadilla is also great if you enjoy curry powder flavor. Didn’t get any drinks but the place has a really nice atmosphere and the high ceiling makes it feel very spacious. Would recommend a go, price is also very affordable. Easy to find parking around here.

One of the most famous Cafe in JB, perfect location, just beside the Pasir Gudang highway, normally won’t jam. Since it’s inside industrial area, there are a lot of parking space available there. big space inside, but during holiday still can fill up with people. We wait around 1.5hr for seat, and another 30mins for food to be serve after ordered. Food consider okay, but maybe it could be better during normal day if lesser people. No chance to try their pizza, but overall still good. there are few nice spot to take photo with your friends in the cafe, a good place to hang out with friends.

Good recommendations from friends! Location is in an industrial area and hence the cafe has like 6-7 metres of ceiling height giving a very chill and spacious vibes. The menu has good options which we have ordered most of the mains. It’s rare to have most of the menu items being very well presented and very delicious! It’s definitely worth a stop for lunch or dinner! Suggest to go early to secure a table!

One of the best cafes in Johor Bahru if you are a bagel lover (like me) there is a huge range of bagel flavours here that does not cost a bomb! This is literally the holy grail of breakfast foods/ brunch in Johor. Literally spoilt for choice with the cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, pastries and cakes. They even have mains served to you fresh and hot - big breakfast platters and Spaghetti Carbonara. 11am and the crowd is slowly building up, the cafe is huge and spacious with an industrial asthetic. Added framed artworks, posters and tall seperation curtains and vintage furniture with plants - somewhat an interesting asthetic. We were seated quickly and they provided us a big bottle of tap, self pour. They have coffees and ice blended frappes/ smoothies too. We ordered this tom yum quisadilla and it was very unique. The added pomegranate seeds made the experience interesting. This item is the highlight of this cafe as based on their menu. You have to try it for yourself. Their lox - bagel with cream cheese and smoked salmon was customised with an omelette at additional 5RM. It was nice and toasty, and very yummy. I absolutely recommend and I want to come back to try all their bagels! We went around to see what desserts we could get but decided to hop to another cafe.

The re branded People's and Places Cafe. Really comfortable and inviting ambience. The big breakfast was supre value for money. The mushrooms tasted really umami, felt like it was stew in lobster bisque sauce or some seafood stock. The Bagel is heavenly , one of the best we have ever tasted, crunchy skin with soft insides. Taste profile rapidly sweetens as we chew on it. LATTE was good !

I had a fantastic experience at The Founders Cafe in Johor Bahru. The coffee was exceptional, and the food was delicious. What made it even more special was the opportunity to meet the owner, who was incredibly humble and friendly. The cafe's interior was also beautifully designed, creating a great ambiance. I highly recommend this cafe to anyone looking for a great coffee and dining experience.

Bagel was damn good. Also cinnamonroll. Its my second time here. First time I came at lunch. The dark choco cinnamon was sold out as well as parmesan herbs bagel. Today I went at breakfast time where it just open. It's damn gooood. Worth travelling ! About 25 to 30mins from jb custom..but still worth going.

Good service and environment. We had big breakfast and it exceeded our expectations in terms of taste and presentation. My little suggestions for the cafe is: there is plenty of space in the restaurant, try to spread out your customers, as many would prefer a little privacy..instead of putting everyone at the same corner. We paid premium for a reason.

  • 2/5 Jeanie T. 7 months ago on Google
Without price considerations the place would be a 3 stars (everything average), but with its price point it'll be a 2 stars at best. The average pricing of a main is like 20+ to 30 ringgit for super average quality food. Beef Bagel is overcooked, fries are just frozen food being heated up. I do give credit to the creativity of having some fusion food like basil chicken pasta etc. It really tastes like basil chicken but instead of rice you get it with the pasta, creative but not really what I would expect in a pasta😅 tastes pretty alright though. Portion sizing is normal and they do give quite a bit of ingredients. Nothing really crazy to rave about.

Take note that the bagels here are chewy but taste wise is pretty good. Drinks took forrrrever to come but service staff are pretty friendly. Bought the peanut butter to go which we priced at RM 12 (above $x spend on food) or RM 15 individually - but was charged RM 18 in the end because ‘that was the old pricing’. Please update your posters accordingly as it’s misleading.

Music choice can be improved. The place was too echoey as it was rather empty at 5pm. Food is good. But the mushroom in the big English breakfast was not fresh. Hubby ran toilet after eating it. Chickpea baked bean is very nice. I enjoyed the carbonara pasta. Croffle with blueberries ice-cream is yummy. Loved the rosemary sweet potato fries . Have parking space so can drive in.

The cafe is very nice and Instagramable! Tried a few cakes/tarts & drinks. The lemon tart and banana chocolate cake is worth the try. The burnt cheesecake is okay, but feel like the taste is not really there. The drinks are quite solid too. Affordable as well.

Food was good! I love the bagel (~RM18). We’ve gotten the Szechuan pepper. Matcha latte was ok. There’s a bit of waiting time, the place is quite big with number of seating, and tends to be noisy. But good place for weekend brunch. Would definitely come back for other flavours of bagel if I have the chance.

The Founders Cafe is a great place not just for hearty brunches but great desserts and any social occasion. The decor was soulful with a tinge of sophistication. We love the high ceiling, picture-worthy mirrors and well-spaced-out tables. The staff were attentive and the food was bursting with flavour. Every bite of the Angus beef bagel had an extra oomph because of the generous spices and fresh ingredients. The scones were so ‘yammy’ that we had to pack some at home! We were also impressed with the brilliance of how Boss Soon Ng weaved himself into the icons and art pieces. Overall an interesting and wonderful experience. A big thanks to Soon and the team!

We went on a Monday at 5pm. Unfortunately the kitchen closes at 5pm and we were only able to order fries, cakes and drinks. We were told that from 6pm onwards, only pasta and pizzas would be available. Disappointed as we wanted to try other items. So if u wanna eat the brunch and breakfast items, come before 5pm! The spicy Thai pasta was good tho! Must try! I like my black sesame latte. Something special. My friend says she’s had better iced americanos. The pavlova cake was too sweet and soggy for me. But my friend liked it. I guess it’s a matter of tastes and preferences! Cool vibes. Nice cafe in an industrial estate! Check it out!

Place was very nice and spacious. Did not need to queue up when we arrived at 11.30. We ordered the pesto pasta and a platter of the sides that we mixed and matched. For the platter, the smoked salmon and baked beans was the star. The smoked salmon is thick and not very salty compared to the typical smoked salmons. The baked beans did not taste like it was from a can. The sauce felt a little different from a regular tomato sauce. However, the scrambled eggs was slightly not to our taste as the smell of oil was quite obvious compared to those made with butter. The pesto pasta taste very clean and did not feel very oily compared to those with a lot of oil added or cream added. The cashews added an additional crunch which complemented the pasta. Will definitely come back for this. While the mains was good, the donuts was slightly disappointing. At first glance, the donuts were huge and very aesthetic. We got the Thai milk tea and chocolate peanut butter flavour. For the Thai milk tea donut, it was topped with a melted sugar coating similar to creme brulee. To cut the donut, you would need to break the sugar top first. Unfortunately I felt that the sugar top was a bit too thick which made me feel like I was eating hard candy while having my donut. Additionally, the texture of the donut was more of a bread texture. I was thrown off as the dough was a little too thick compared to the filling inside. What saved this donut was the Thai milk tea filling which was subtle in flavour and did not feel very heavy. For the chocolate peanut butter donut, it had the same problem of bread-like texture which made me feel like I was eating bread instead. It was nothing spectacular. Overall, I would recommend the pesto pasta and add on some smoked salmon for a nice meal. Would also recommend skipping the donuts if you are not into bready donuts.

great food and ambience! really big space, didn't seem like a cafe at all at first glance. the food is amazing as well, perfect balance of flavours and generous in portion sizes. definitely worth coming down to try this place out!

Came here for the second time, mainly for a cafe-hop. When we previously came some months back, the scrambled eggs quesadilla was the highlight (we ordered two), so coming back here we had to order it again. It wasn't as good as I had remembered it to be, and the temperature could have been warmer – but perhaps it was just a one-off deviation. The truffle fries were alright, nothing much to be said about them either way, though they could also have been warmer. Overall, good vibes from the place with the iconic picture of the owner making for a good attraction.

Nice ambiance, one huge warehouse like space. The food is great, and the portion is generous! Price wise, not cheap but fairly lower if compared to Singapore. Location is the only downside here, but if you are willing to drive a bit further than usual, it's worth a visit then.

Service was good, food was excellent. Very limited menu available after 5pm. We had Pizza cos that was the only choice on the menu that we liked and it was awesome! Drinks needs a little more explanation about what it contains or taste like, other than just the name of drinks. Had to ask the servers multiple times to know what the drinks were. However, pleasant experience, food and drinks were good. Plus point for coming after 5? U can use almost the whole restaurant as photo spots! Many instagram-worthy places.

Went during public holiday, quite pack with people. Order online through website. Nice ambience, insta worthy for those like to take ootd Wide selection of menu Ordered salmon & beef bagel, snack fried sweet potato. Everything was so good👍 It's just, expected the bagel come with salad on side..but no 😅 Beverage just average, ordered mocha iced and Americano

Loved the texture of the bagel, crunchy on the outside and quite soft on the inside. The smoked salmon was underseasoned though. I like the spread that came with. The beef bacon carbonara was creamy, yet even with the beautiful yolk coating the pasta it was rather bland. The zest for the lemon tart was lacking so it's mediocre at best.
