Fascinating architectural style though constructed in recent times. It would have been even better if the towers had been open to climb to the top.

While this place is currently under repair, I was able to get in before it all happened. I and my mother were the only people there at the time. Such a peaceful place with an interesting story. Do yourself a favour and read about it before going as it makes the journey slightly outside the main city even more worth it. A great spot to pretend like you're an old world explorer.

Several old houses repurposed into museums that tell the story of various aspects of Doha before oil and wealth, including of slavery. Very well done.

Watchtowers are Barzan towers. The distance to the venue is worth it. The surroundings are beautiful. The residence of Sheikh Al Thani is located fairly close by.

Quite interesting to see these old watchtowers. You are able to climb the stairs inside up to the roof area for a good view. Not too sure if I'd take young children as steps are quite steep.

Nice place But not easy reachable A lot of construction all arround. The gatekeeper is a wonderful man

It's one of the oldest buildings around, two fortified towere, has a Wikipedia article and is open to the public to explore. So in that way it's almost completely unique in Doha. However it's been recently rebuilt to the extent that you can't tell that its old and it's also absolutely covered in bird poop. Also there's zero information on site about its history or that of the area.

There are four museums. One, depicting a Qatari home changing throughout time. One telling the oil story of Qatar. One telling how slavery has influenced Qatar. One telling the story of a typical Qatari neighborhood that has changed due to technological, social and economic development.

Barzan Castle is a beautiful archaeological site in the State of Qatar, and the Ministry of Tourism attaches great importance in the State of Qatar to many monuments and monuments in the country in terms of protecting them from the air and land worlds, and also protecting them from any dangers.Honest efforts, and thanks to the Ministry of Culture and Tourism for its interest in such important archaeological monuments of precious value. These beautiful towers dominate the desert skyline. For more than a century, they’ve provided a vantage point for both scanning the horizon for enemies and tracking the movements of the celestial world.

One of the historic places in Qatar which is still maintained by Qatar Museums. They are watchtowers built in the 19th century. The historic place is located inside the city and is very accessible. On entering itself there will be a guide who will show you around the place.

May be nice to visit if you find it open... even if the tower is closed they should leave the park open. The access is a nightmare as the whole area is a building site and there are no roads.

Barzan Towers is only one of the many heritage sites in Qatar that preserve the rich culture of the country. Found 14 miles out of Doha, in Umm Salal Mohammed, Barzan (which translates to “high place” in Arabic) stands 14 meter tall. It was said to have served as a lookout to protect local water sources, and as an observatory to determine the dates of the lunar calendar - most important during Ramadan and Eid! Planning a visit? Nice place to see if you love seeing old structures. You will have an idea how they live here long ago. The place is already furnished and reinforced to stand strong. No entrance fee. You just need to log your name in the book. A caretaker is always there to welcome guests. He speaks little english but is accommodating. He will guide u around and will open the buildings so u will have a chance to see the interiors. Lots of climbing and opening of doors toward the top. You need to be tall to see the surroundings when u r on top of the tower.
