Charming, clean and peaceful little guesthouse, ideal for rest and recuperation, whilst travelling to Cape Town. Host, Rinaldi is friendly and helpful, but the guesthouse unfortunately is also gripped by loadshedding which may affect the water supply. Don’t avoid for this reason though - as they are in the process of having solar panels installed. Rather check in with the guest house before time to see what the situation is. Local restaurants deliver, but are a lovely short walk away from the property. Charming plaas-living at its best!

Great place to stay. Easy access from the N1. Well located in the town of Colesberg. Just off the main road going through the town but situated out of the main town centre. Check-in very easy. Renaldi was very professional and friendly. Rooms are huge. Beds are comfortable with plenty of spare blankets if needed. Kitchenette has all you need with a bar fridge and microwave. Bathroom is perfectly functional. All round a very good option. Highly recommended. Very good value for money.

Lovely host. She upgraded us to a larger room as she was not full. Delightful room. Huge and clean as a whistle. Good linen..easy access and generally a good place for a stop over to rest.

Staying over here is a pleasure, after a long drive the clean and cool air conditioned rooms is just what jou need. A couple of restaurants walking distance from the B&B is also great. Safe shaded parkinging inside also ensures a goods night rest. Left my phone charger inside the room, after a call to reception, when we got home, the charger was found and shipped back to me. A big thank you to the Fancy Cactus staff and management

Loved staying at Fancy Cactus. Has a homey feel, comfortable & stylish rooms, friendly staff, beautiful garden. The only thing is that they don’t serve meals but I found a few awesome places to eat nearby. Will definitely be coming back.

Arrived and advised that we did not have a booking despite proof of booking and payment. Spent the night with no warm water, no warm water the next day too. No regard from their team when a message was sent regarding water. Had an infestation of ants the next morning that was all over our groceries. Not a pleasant exercise in contrast to the last visit, unfortunately.

We arrived 5 min before loadshedding started last night. We were greeted by Rinaldi - she brought a 2nd rechargeable led lantern - both were flat. We used our ! With loadshedding they also haven't had water - dry taps for 4 hours !! That news followed after I phoned Rinaldi to enquire about the water situation !! Why not fill the bath with water and supply a buckets to flush a toilet and or wash your face - with that you can even do a "bucket" shower. I also missed a bar of soap in the bathroom. Bottled water was a big issue !!! Fortunately we had our own 5 liters at hand. Rechargeable light bulbs could help during loadshedding - they really need to look at "effortless" ways to make stays more pleasant during these times . We didn't enjoy our stay.

We decided to stop over in Colesberg and look for a place to sleep over. Perfect location, wonderful host, and a great room with everything you can expect for a reasonable price. More so it was fully functional with loadshedding something we didn't expect (other than the aircon) but this we accepted given the 5/5 score on all the other elements

The Fancy Cactus was great for our quick overnight stay en route to Cape Town. The hostess was very helpful albeit the load shedding messing with the water and electricity. The rooms were so beautifully decorated and clean. Will highly recommend it! Thank you.

I am amazed at the service of Renaldi. I highly recommend the stay over in Colesberg. We were tired and welcomed after hours and on the trip back I booked on the way there. She waited for us quite late. Worth every cent. Room was clean, pristine condition. If I ever drive that side again will stay at Fancy Cactus.

At first when we called for a booking, the operator wouldn’t help us and said they were closed. Managed to get hold of a very friendly lady named Bianca who went out of her way to assist my family and I. We were traveling to Cape Town and just needed to rest the night. Bianca got the room ready for us at very short notice and made arrangements for us to get keys I was very impressed at the value for money, cleanliness and spacious room I would definitely recommend them and will definitely use them whenever I travel through Colesburg again Thumbs up to Bianca

What a gem of a find for a night's stop over from Cape Town to Jhb. Ĺarge, comfortable and beautifully appointed rooms. Very clean. Furniture is combination of modern and antique which reflects the Karoo area so well. Kitchenette has all the necessary appliances and utensils. Perfect for families who would like to stay in the same room with children. Another plus is the good security and it's in a quiet area.

An absolute gem! Such a warm welcome. The spacious room is exquisitely decorated. Very comfortable bed with luxurious linen. The exceptional attention to detail makes it impossible not to feel at home. This was our first visit to the Fancy Cactus. Bianca knows how to run a guesthouse. She goes above and beyond. Renaldi is a true credit to this highly recommend guest house. We will be back.

What a pleasant surprise in Colesberg! We arrived and were promptly greeted by the owners and shown to our room which was a pet friendly unit. The dogs had a lovely lawn area to play and have some down time which is usually so hard to find. Then we walked in to our room… wow! So clean, neat and finished absolutely beautifully! We will definitely book here again 👍🏻

Such an amazing place. Absolutely clean and cozy. The owner (Bianca), waited for us since we arrived late and was so helpful. I highly recommend this place if you plan to stop in Colesburg. I'll certainly return back to this lovely place. Oh and it's pet friendly. Highly recommended.

The Fancy Cactus is a must stop over in Colsburg if you are driving to Cape Town,I have two dogs and the rooms are super comfortable, clean and modern. Bianca made sure that I was seen to and the staff also followed up to see how far I was so that the room was ready for my arrival. The complimentary coffee is absolutely amazing and the restaurants nearby all deliver.
