An excellent pop-in for a quick lunch while on the move. The flavours are rich and portion size filling. Good range of vegan options for a non-specialist establishment. A genuine local favourite.

When here on 29 April 2023 Me and my wife were looking for something to eat after wondering around the west end we hooped on the 19 bus from Piccadilly Circus and 10 minutes later we got off in upper street Islington. We found this place Pho on 39 upper street N1 I’ve got nothing but good to feed back about the place. We were greeted as soon as we entered the restaurant nice music and a extra helpful smiling waiter gave us the choice of where we wanted to sit. We shared a starter of chicken wings plenty to share mid the sauce that it come with if you like it hot which where extra crispy and piping hot. My wife had the spicy green soup and I went for beef brisket soup both where delicious. Give it a go I don’t think you’ll be disappointed 😋😋😋

Super yummy vegan pho - and great sized portions too! The iced green tea is quite refreshing.

Zero sauce provided with spring rolls and summer rolls (ordered 3 portions for take away). So… food was fresh but very bland. Pictures on the website states otherwise.

Vegan food was a bit bland but after I added some soya sauce and stuff at home it tasted better. Staff are fantastic and place gets busy. Good location and good vibes.

UPDATE: I have decided to downgrade my rating from 2 to 1 based on some lies provided by the business owner in their response to my review. I never requested the affogato with espresso or with condensed milk as they said "as mentioned before." They served the affogato as I described it. Also, it was not condensed milk ice cream as they mentioned in their response, it was vanilla and very poor quality (almost tasteless). This response from them leads me to believe they're throwing a curve ball on me which is even worse. Learn to provide an excellent service and learn from your mistakes, do not blame it on customers or the flu. ------------- Don't recommend it, don't go through the same as me. Sadly, this visit was supposed to be a great experience but resulted in a bad one due to the poor service and the pedantic person with red hat (a chef maybe) that handled the bill in this restaurant. The service does not reflect Vietnamese culture at all. I have been to other restaurants and service is truly amazing. Too expensive for the quality of food, drinks, desserts, and service. Here are the details: as we entered the place my wife and I were not attended, we walked to the counter and finally were greeted. The place was not busy so we chose the table. The girl that served us was polite and attentive. We ordered pork & lemongrass meatballs, one spicy phò house, and one crab noodle soup. Plus two beers. We noticed a bad smell across the restaurant which came from the kitchen through the food elevator located inside a pillar next to the counter. We thought the food was going to be awful but it was very good. We liked all the dishes. We were left unattended for long between the starter and the mains, and the mains and the desserts. Still, we wanted to give it a try for desserts. We ordereded one Vietnamese affogato, you can see in the last picture that we were served two glasses. One had a spoon of vanilla ice cream, the other had "Vietnamese coffee." The presentation was terrible, and the coffee was not true Vietnamese coffee (no condensed milk, no espresso strength, and was cold). Vanilla ice cream was horrible, a Ben & Jerry's tastes better than this one. When the bill came, the person asked if everything was ok, I said my impression of affogato was different due to the coffee, I expected an espresso. He literally replied: "This is a Vietnamese restaurant. We only served Vietnamese coffee." I said I understood that it was a Vietnamese restaurant, did not want to start a useless conversation on Vietnamese coffee. I left feeling horrible, my wife too. We won't go back again, not even if the food is free.

I just had one of the best experiences I’ve ever had at the Pho restaurant in Angel Islington. The food was immediate, I barely had to wait, the flavour was fantastic and I usually order the same thing however, once I finished it left me feeling incredible. I asked and they mentioned recently that they’ve changed chefs, and so I highly recommend whoever is reading this to go and visit as quickly as possible. They also as always have an incredible in house service and a wonderfully kind team. LK

Had a good quick lunch. Seated quickly, took a while to take our order, but food then came in a reasonable time and was tasty. They were attentive and asked after (and followed up on) allergies.

Great service, very friendly and attentive! Food were all delicious. We ordered from starters to desserts, that’s how much we enjoyed the food. Also the restaurant is child friendly, they have kids menu, colouring pens and paper to entertain whilst they waited for their pho noodles. Definitely will be back for some more.

This was an impromptu lunch at what looked like a cool Pho place, I went in quite excited and left a real fan. I'm so glad I stopped, the food was great and authentic, I had some of the best spring rolls ever as a starter and a really good beef and garlic pho. Service was quick and really relaxed, hat tip to the management for great staff training. Can't wait to come back, highly recommended.

I come to this restaurant very often and I had my birthday here. I had the best night! The staff are friendly and polite. The food is really nice and healthy. I had summer rolls as a starter, I had noodles and these green beans called morning glory. Absolutely fantastic. I have tried many other dishes and are all very tasty. My favourite drink is the spicy lychee margarita it is sweet and spicy. They also make amazing fresh juices. Thank you for an amazing birthday Jola and Francesca! I was really really happy.

We were looking for a place to eat near Angel station, we entered Pho and we we’ve been welcomed by Francesco. Some of us were not really familiar with the menu and he’s been able to explain the menu and give us right suggestions to enjoy a delicious meal. Thank you Francesco, thank you to the kitchen, service and food were amazing.

Came here for a revival soup and the Hot and Spicy beef Pho was tasty and definitely a winner. Our server was friendly and we sat outside to enjoy the weather. Everything was perfect 👍

Vietnamese pho surprising for the first time! Firstly the soup is well cooked and combined with savory and rich flavor, also feeling clean and refreshing. Adding the fresh chili makes the overall taste upgraded with a little bit spicy on both rice noodle and soup. Must try it again in the cold days and definitely will be more comforting for having this in

I discovered Pho (the one in soho) 7 years ago and it was love at first sight. The food is absolutely spot on, cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. I used to go almost everyday as it was next to my office- never disappointed me! Also, during the years they started to give you more and more vegan options, and they now have an entire vegan menu. Highly recommended!

I’m Asian and I know how Pho should taste. This restaurant named themselves“Pho” but their Pho was a BIG disappointment. It was so salty, the beef is not fresh, tacky and chewy. The soup is just salt water. And another dish noodles with soup called Bun Bo Hue (hot spicy beef brisket) was so bad. It worse than the worse. The restaurant should remove Bun Bo Hue on the menu until their chef comes to Vietnam and try real Vietnamese food. Please do not think you’ll eat real, authentic Pho and Bun Bo Hue at this restaurant! I do not recommend this place. I gave 2 stars just solely for the staff’s attitude as they seemed helpful.

Excellent service! Awesome food and very friendly staff. I’ll definitely recommend and would come back. Summer roll, chicken rice bowl and beef brisket pho are amazing, mouth watering food and great drink choices too. It was lovely dinner for two for a very reasonable prices.

Very very good Pho. Tasty and juicy. And so much meat in it. And sauces are really good. And stuff is friendly. Price is reasonable for London. So I would say it is a good place to go when you are about Vietnamese food

Pretty ok. food, not the most amazing Vietnamese... friendly staff (although I'm pretty sure I saw their finger leaning into my food when they brought a dish over) I just had a few snacks...

  • 2/5 Ka Lam C. 1 year ago on Google
TL;DR Can't say it's good The morning glory and the fried flat noodles have the same spice that I never had for Viet food, and made them too salty. The phojito is a glass of ice. It's not an authentic Vietnamese experience, not even close. Take this as just another Asian food that don't work well.

Yummy food although waited 20 mins to get out first rst dish. I had the soup which was delicious and the spring rolls to start which were amazingly crispy and unlike any I've had before highly recommend.

Ordered takeout. Delicious flavors and thankful they were able to accommodate my dietary restrictions. The delivery was quick and the food was warm. Delicious Veg Pho for a cold day and refreshing Vegetable Rolls with Peanut Sauce!

Great soup base, good beef, the noodles can be improved - not smooth enough in my opinion…. Not bad tho! Worth a try

A large group of us popped into Pho today and the staff were so unbelievably lovely from start to end. They moved tables so our group of 11 could all sit together and they were just so helpful and friendly through out whole meal. The food was delicious- I had the pork rice bowl and every element of it worked so well together and was so tasty. Thanks so much for sorting us out so quickly 😀

Big fan of this restaurant, visited on multiple occasions and will continue to do so. The staff are very friendly and not overbearing. Helpful and attentive. Their bowls are very nice and have a good selection. I'm super glad I tried the Vietnamese Coffee, I'm not a big drinker of coffee but it was really nice and presented in a way I haven't experience before. Lovely
