The first time I've visited this restaurant , had a fabulous time here. The staff are knowledgeable and deferential without being obsequious , and very helpful. The food is absolutely amazing . We dined A La Carte at lunchtime. I was privileged to have Tom Kitchin himself serve my starter and main . A charming , friendly man . This restaurant well deserves the 5 stars I awarded it . I will return . There's so many more dishes I'd like to try here.

Outstanding! From start to finish it was incredible. We went for the prestige tasting menu & matching wine flight. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating, friendly & knowledgeable. One of the little things that impressed me was when I asked about a small element of the Spoots dish they knew every single ingredient & that really adds to the experience and demonstrates how well trained they are. I loved the whole feel of the place, the decor is minimalistic and classy. The little map showed where they source all their local ingredients which was very interesting and showed you just how fresh everything was. I honestly couldn’t fault any of the dishes, they were flawless. Each one was just as flavourful as the last. I liked that it was hearty rich flavours that were presented so delicately. My highlight of the wines was drinking one that was older than I am. Hats off to the whole team, hope to come back in the not so distant future. Keep up the good work!!

Stunning food & service. Our starters were served by Tom Kitchin which was lovely. Staff went above and beyond, easily the best service we’ve ever had in a restaurant worldwide. All the food was faultless - would particularly recommend the oyster starter and cauliflower starter as particular highlights. We went for lunch at 1.15 and stayed several hours.

What can I say except *World Class*. One of the best dining experiences of my life. 4 hour lunch and left perfectly satisfied. Prestige menu with the classic wine pairing. Divine. From the first bite to the last sip the food, drink, atmosphere, and staff were Michelin star quality. I will be back and can not imagine what delights will be served.

Truly fabulous experience from the food to the theatre of it all and especially the staff who treated us like actual queens for the whole evening. Additionally, the wine pairings were spot on, the cocktails were original and delicious. Each course of the tasting menu blew my wee brain, and the cheeseboard was a sensation. Will return when I've replenished my bank account.

Special dinner to celebrate my eldest graduating and his birthday. Stunning from start to finish. Impeccable ingredients, cooking and service made for a truly memorable evening. The restaurant is very well established in Leith and has retained a Michelin star for many years. Yes, it is expensive, but one can see where the money has been spent. All the staff were charming, finding that crucial balance between formality and friendliness. We enjoyed lobster, sweetbreads, turbot, scallops, chicken as well as all the little extra courses and stunning sourdough bread. World class restaurant.

What an absolute treat this was. The Kitchin has been on our list for years, and I'm so happy to say that it did not disappoint! The food was wonderful, as expected, they were able to create an incredible tasting menu for 3 separate dietary requirements, and we all loved it. The wine pairings were innovative and interesting, AND they had a full list of non-alcoholic wines to my sober friend's delight. The hospitality, though, was where it all came through. The service was just immaculate, so friendly and considerate. Tom (the man himself) could clearly tell how excited we were to be there and invited us into the kitchen for a drink, which really was such a highlight of my culinary exploits. We loved every minute of our time here from when we were led to our table through the beautiful, rustic and moody decor, to them having a cab on speed dial for when it was time to leave. What a perfect evening

Absolutely amazing meal with my family ! Lunch was very reasonably priced at around 50pp for their set lunch. Everything was prepared with a high standard. The set lunch included a starter, main and desert but we we're pleased to be served with fresh bread as well as 2 different appetisers. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Would come back again.

    * A note on grades, I rate outwards from three stars. * A culinary highlight of our trip to Edinburgh and London in May of '23. We arranged for a late lunch on a gloomy Friday and were immediately charmed by the attentive (though not intrusive) service. The drinks and locally sourced food were top-flight. Highly recommended if you find yourself in the Edinburgh area. Make reservations.

Spectacular! We had an amazing tasting menu and wine pairing experience. The food was exquisite, great service and atmosphere. We even said hello to Tom who was there on the night talking to diners. They have a nice bar too, with a good selection of whiskies (as you would imagine). One of the best meals we have ever had.

After a 2 year wait from the time we saw the restaurant on Remarkable Places to Eat, we finally got booked in for lunch for our annual Christmas celebration lunch / dinner and we were not disappointed. Having sampled a number of amazing starred restaurants around the U.K., we most definitely had high expectations. We are very lucky to have such culinary talents within driving distance around the U.K.. Known for selecting the best sustainable sources of ingredients around the region, it was so helpful and novel to provide a little treasure map of the locations where the food we were about to eat came from. This added another level of excitement. Unlike some starred restaurants we have visited, The Kitchen offered a number of menus to choose from, starting from their reasonably priced lunch sets to the full tasting menu with wine pairing. This was unexpected, but welcomed as many establishments would have only offered their tasting menus during the festive season. We had budgeted for their tasting menu without wine and wanted to sample some of their signature dishes. As can be seen in the pics, plating and presentation is of a very high level and with the drama of at table pouring of sauces / soups and opening of the pastry sealed scallops added the extra sense of occasion. The front of house service was impeccable, very attentive but not instructive, the dining area was warm and cosy yet not too formal and suitable for families as well as more formal dining when required. The food, oh the food!!! The highlight would be the signature scallops, cooked perfectly from the largest and sweetest scallops I’ve ever tasted. The sauce is quite full bodied yet complements the natural sweetness of the scallops, very well balanced and would come back again just to have sample these again. This is definitely a Signature Dish that does the Michelin Star justice. The venison was amazing, cooked perfectly, full of flavour and tender yet maintained it’s unique texture. The fish dish also had an amazing balanced flavour profile and freshness, my only small niggle would be that my fish was slightly overcooked for my personal liking, but unfortunately seems to be the norm when having seafood in the U.K. but definitely does not take any points off the overall quality and experience. The Kitchin is probably top 3 on our list of Michelin starred restaurants we’ve dined at in the U.K. and that top 3 includes a 3 starred restaurant. We are looking forward to going back for seconds, we just need to save up. If you’re looking to find the best place to experience the freshest ingredients Scotland has to offer, cooked to perfection with a natural and rustic flavour palette, you’d be hard pressed to find better than “The Kitchin” enjoy

We had the Prestige Surprise Tasting Menu with wine pairing, and everything tasted absolutely delicious. Very nicely decorated restaurant, good atmosphere and very nice staff. It was so nice that Tom Kitchin came and greeted and talked to us and served us a dish. We had nice ginger cocktail before the meal, but unfortunately the Espresso Martini we had after the meal was not so good. But, all in all, this was a wonderful experience.

My friend and I treated ourselves to a wonderful meal at this restaurant and it was out of this world. If you have a few bob to spare, and want to spoil yourself with some scrumptious food and wine, then look no further. This is the place for you. The menu is pretty awesome. The staff are knowledgeable and attentive and look after you from the moment you arrive through the door. Wine pairing is available, and a cocktail is a must when you arrive. Finish your meal off with a cheeky glass of champagne and you'll float out the door with a contented smile on your face.

Oh wow, that was an amazing experience. We asked for a pescatarian tasting menu with wine pairing and loved every bite. The service was of extreme quality and I loved that they were always keen to add even more details about the provenance of the food or what it was inspired by. Whilst it did feel a bit rich near the end, the desserts bring you back with a delicious kick! The scallop was the best part of it all so I recommend making sure you do get it! We were there for about 4 hours and it was completely worth it. We could see ge chef walk around the restaurant to talk to clients, which is nice to see he's still very much around. Would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting to experience a Michelin worth tasting menu about Scottish food!!

The Kitchin is pure excellence! Their tasting menu featured a great variety of amazing dishes, with our favorites being the Scallop puff pastry and their Venison! Our staff were not only very helpful, but very informative and charismatic, especially the manager Steve and our server Emil. That being said, these led to The Kitchin becoming my favorite spot in Edinburgh.

Had an incredible experience at The Kitchin! We opted for the set lunch menu which was sensational but I really want to go back and try their other menus because everything was incredible. My favorite part of the restaurant was that everything was from produced in Scotland and they even give you a map to show where they get it all from which was a nice touch. Outside of that fantastic service and great experience.

Amazing experience. We booked a late lunch here to celebrate a special occasion and we loved every minute of our experience. It’s been on my list for years and it did not disappoint. All of the food was 10/10, we upgraded to include the cheese and this was such a special touch getting to pick what cheese we wanted. All of the staff were really attentive and made us feel so comfortable. Only downside was we booked the last table for the lunch service, when we arrived the restaurant and kitchen had such a buzz but by the time we finished our mains the restaurant emptied and all the chefs left the kitchen. We then had to flag down waiting staff for some cocktails after our cheese as no one was really present in the restaurant - in future i would not book this time slot due to this. Overall had a wonderful experience and Tom even came out the kitchen to say hello to us when we arrived!! Thanks to all.

Excellent expérience from start to finish. The staff are attentive and friendly. The surroundings relaxing and chic. It goes without saying that the food and wine was exceptional. Also surprisingly good value for Michelin starred food. Can’t wait to go back.

I've wanted to visit this restaurant for quite some time but it is a four hour drive from Leeds. So, when we had the opportunity of a few days in Balmoral with family it presented the ideal opportunity to make this a priority on the way back via Edinburgh. We booked for a Friday lunchtime on the basis that it provided a broad opportunity to order A La Carte, the tasting menu, which we not great fans off generally, or the lunchtime set menu. We opted for the lunchtime menu and wine flight. It turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we've had for a while and we've eaten in other Michelin star restaurants. Loved the ambiance from the moment we walked through the door to the moment we left. It was a delight to meet Tom Kitchen when he greeted all the diners at their table and it was good to see the "name above the door" actually running the pass. The food was exceptional as was the wine pairing, service was impeccable, efficient, friendly and relaxed... loved every mouthful and minute. Well worth the visit and would love to return!

What a delight !!! Superb service, attentive ,ever knowledgeable, polite and professional. The food was exquisite, we had the surprise tasting menu with wine pairings. Stand out dishes were John Dory , scallops and the duck … oh and the tomato consommé and the pork cheek and the soufflé …and finally a visit from Tom Kitchin to every table sets the pattern for an amazing unforgettable night experience.

Unique experience at this venue. Everything was carefully crafted and combination of the flavors were great. Very cozy ambience and reminded me of some Nordic restaurants I like. the service was a bit slow side but I just had bad luck at this place at the time. I might try and see how it is next time.

We had an absolutely wonderful evening! The food was spectacular - fresh & creative. We opted for the Prestige Surprise Tasting menu with wine pairings. The meal did not disappoint, and the wine selections were an "epiphany " match to our meal. Great detail provided in describing our meal and our wines. Chef Kitchin has an amazingly talented team, and he also came out to greet us during dinner.

Absolutely Beautiful! We made the trip up here from Cambridge and it was without doubt 100% worth it. Very knowledgeable front of house, delicious drinks and calm relaxing atmosphere. A perfect combination to dine to such an elegant menu.

👍👍 It's busy, it's tasty and always a nice experience! There is a nice range of flavours infused with spices. We went for breakfast and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The naan breads with sausages, bacon and eggs were delicious. The only comment I would have is it's so busy and noisy insid...
