An authentic Italian restaurant, a little gem hidden in Edinburgh. My fiancé and me have just been there yesterday for our anniversary. I think we have had the best food experience since a long time. The quality of the food is extraordinary, it's so good you can cry for happiness! As Italian you can trust me. The service is fast and prices match the quality. The team is very nice as well. The place is a bit little but is very cozy and the staying has been super nice.

This might just have been the best meal me and my daughter ever had, especially the ravioli with lobster. Lovely little bistro with attentive and nice staff in busy Cockburn Street in the middle of Edinburgh. Do book in advance.

My husband and I went here for dinner last night and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had. The atmosphere was pleasant and almost home-y. We shared the meatballs (AMAZING), I had the pasta with meatballs (equally amazing) and my husband had the lasagna (20/10 according to him). Dessert was equally fabulous (the brownie and affogato). We both highly recommend! Everyone was so nice and welcoming; we’ll be back before our vacation is over!

What a great place!!! I thought, just because it was in the centre that it's a tourist trap...but it's not!!!! It's family fun and independent. Staff are ABSOLUTELY. FANTASTIC. Food is delicious, wine is fantastic and the atmosphere is wonderful Couldn't rate it higher.....oh wait,I can; there are gluten free options available. Try their gluten free pasta!!

A must if you are in Edinburgh! I would recommend booking as they have limited seating but the restaurant is lovely and intimate with a great looking bar gin selection. The staff are really great, professional , attentive and personable. The food was absolutely delicious and authentic!

Not just the best restaurant we've been to in Edinburgh but quite possibly the best Italian I've ever had. Wonderful setup in a nice small setting - phenomenal specials and the staff were fantastic (particularly Jason) - very friendly yet professional which added to the experience. Really stunning food and worth the price. 10/10 would recommend.

We made the mistake of coming here hungry. Then two of us made the mistake of ordering the gnocchi. They were not bad but no better than what we whip up at home. But mostly the portions are tiny. We added the roasted potatoes because that is the only substantial side dish and still left hungry. We saw the prices and decided to stay but we will not do so anymore. If you go here to impress somebody with high prices you're in the right spot. If you want to eat because you're hungry, keep going.

Came for dinner and had really lovely meals. We got the gnocchi special and lasagne which were both absolutely delicious! Gnocchi looks small but the bowl is very deep, so was a good portion. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the restaurant was very cosy with a nice atmosphere. Definitely expensive but the food and service were top notch.

"La Locanda in Edinburgh is a culinary gem! From start to finish, the dining experience here is exceptional. Their starter soup and arancino set the perfect tone for the meal—simply delicious. But the real stars of the show are the Pappardelle and Lasagna; they are a symphony of flavors and cooked to perfection. What truly sets La Locanda apart, though, is their warm and friendly staff. Their hospitality adds an extra layer of comfort to the entire experience, making you feel truly welcome. Whether you're a food enthusiast or simply looking for a memorable dining experience, La Locanda is a must-visit. Five stars are well-deserved for their scrumptious dishes and impeccable service. This restaurant is a true treasure in Edinburgh's culinary scene!"

Really good food and atmosphere, food I ordered was delicious, enough as a meal. The service was also very pleasant. The prices are a bit much for Italian cuisine in my opinion but the quality of food is good enough not to regret :)

OH MY GOD - that’s it. That’s the review. I got the pappardelle and was blown away. It’s on my list of top pastas now. It was so good. My husband got the special - gnocchi but thought it needed more flavor, but he still would recommend it. We split the tiramisu and it was gone in under a minute. The staff here are so lovely and it’s family owned! I loved it.

We had a fantastic time at La Locanda, so much so we came back the following evening & were lucky enough to get a table. The food was absolutely delicious, with different specials on both evenings. The knowledgeable & friendly staff went above and beyond to help us & made our time at the restaurant a special one. Cannot recommend highly enough & will definitely be coming back next time we are in Edinburgh! Definitely worth a visit, a fantastic local restaurant yet in the main tourist area & conveniently close for anyone stopping at Motel One.

Busy restaurant serving good Italian food. Better make a reservation or you might end up sitting outside.

Would absolutely recommend this restaurant just off the royal mile! The food was delicious, the staff lovely and the vibes immaculate. Will be coming back when I next visit Edinburgh!

Mozzarella salad was fresh but small, didn’t come with any bread. Ravioli was very good. The major disadvantage is the toilet/sink situation (only one and physically hard to get to).

A lovely restaurant. We went today for lunch, the environment is homey. Food is delicious and staffs are all nice.

First visit in Edinburgh, so maybe the problem is with my expectations. But I felt like this place is rather overpriced and the gnocchi dish was very small. 21 pounds (before service) for so little is disappointing - I guess other meals are served with similar amount of food. At least the staff was very nice.

Came by on the weekend for a catch up over lunch. I ordered the gluten free tagliatelle with meatballs. The staff were lovely and accommodating. Best pasta I’ve had for a long time. Definitely coming back.

Great authentic Italian off the Royal Mile. Very small only a few tables, but there is seating outside. Very high quality well prepared dishes. We had warm spinach salad with parmesan shavings and pine nuts, the spinach and recotta ravioli and spaghetti with meatballs ragu sauce. All excellent. Not cheap, but worth it. Very good service too.

Honestly the best Gluten Free Italian that we have ever had - It’s as good as normal pasta! The staff were so friendly & super helpful and it was a perfect evening! We will 100% be going back when we return to Edinburgh 😊 Also a particular mention to Mo who was so lovely!

We came here in 2020 during the Pandemic for a memorable meal so decided to return for our one night in Edinburgh. Great service and delicious Italian food in a quaint environment. Not cheap but worth it. Gorgeous looking and tasty recipes. Staff feel caring and food feels nurturing. Intriguing whisky options (with elegant presentation) complement large wine selection.

Good stuff! Great staff! The food was quick and delicious, the pasta al dente and the sauce full of flavor. Unlike many restaurants have sauces that are too sweet, “fake” Italian, over complicated ect… this was just perfect. Also loved that they recommended wine with the dish and let you try it. Also super warm inside.

Delicious food, friendly staff and environment. Welcomed by Mohanned who was so friendly and very kindly recommended nice dishes for us as it it was our first time to this place (and Scotland). Will come again.

👍👍 It's busy, it's tasty and always a nice experience! There is a nice range of flavours infused with spices. We went for breakfast and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The naan breads with sausages, bacon and eggs were delicious. The only comment I would have is it's so busy and noisy insid...
