One of the prestige fine dining restaurants in Cambridge (personally speaking it’s reaching Michelin’s standard from all perspectives). The food is outstanding. Extremely delicate and flavorful makes every mouthful an exploration and enjoyment. The lobster soup is heart-warming and satisfying in a cold winter day. The sashimi are all fresh without even a tiny bit of fishy taste. The lamb is so tender that it just melt in your mouth, leaving the thick flavor of the jus. the halibut is relatively light and refreshing, combined perfectly with the natural sweetness of the roast veggies and stuffed potato. It’s far beyond my expectation and would strongly recommend here.

We had a great experience at Cotto. It started with a very warm welcome from the hostess and even the chef (Hans) came out to say hello. The ambience was fantastic. We enjoyed our 3-course dinner very much and did our own wine pairing. The wine list provided many high-quality choices. After the dinner we enjoyed cocktails at bar while listening to the piano. The place is certainly pricey but the price is justified given the outstanding quality.

WOW! My sister and brother-in-law very kindly invited me for dinner at Cotto. I'd not been before, but having an interest in quality food, especially with an Italian background, I was looking forward to the evening. My hosts consider the place as the best restaurant in Cambridge... so it had a lot to live up to! I must say, I have to agree with them. The Gonville Hotel, where the restaurant is located, has been renovated in recent years and offers a classy atmosphere. We had cocktails in the bar first, which were excellent. The menu we were given - and I'm assuming the only one, but don't know for sure - had fixed pricing for either two or three course meals (with a very slight premium for a Saturday evening). The selection of options was excellent, and I struggled to choose just one from each course. They all sounded amazing... and when my choices arrived, they were! The service was superb, and not over-the-top either. Moreover, it was a lovely touch for the chef to come out and speak with my sister: when ordering, she had queried with the waiter an item in the seafood starter she wasn't sure about, but agreed to try it. This apprehension must have been passed to the chef, as he kindly came out to talk about the dish and check if there's anything she'd prefer not to be included. Good work, Cotto! I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Cotto. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening there, and probably have to agree to it now being the best restaurant in Cambridge. (Not the best photos, but they give a good idea of the excellent food presentation.)

Visited the place for the second time. Absolutely amazing food but at a high price. Consistent quality and outstanding presentation. However, charging £60 for a three course menu I would expect exceptional service. It was mediocre. Treat it as a cafe / bistro instead of a Michelin-Starred restaurant, even though it cost about the same to dine in one, you would be a lot happier. Lack of a table cloth, and a smile from some of the waiters/waitresses. Food was served quickly which made me felt a little hurried. Choice of wine is limited which is a shame.

Outstanding food and customer service. We went last night for our second wedding anniversary. Perfect venue for a special treat. *update, my review was when this restaurant was at the Gonvile Hotel. I’ve not been back since they moved to the golf club.

It was a wonderful night, filled with delicious food, great service and divine drinks! Would recommend going for a treat or a special occasion! We had a trio of duck and the tuna to start, it was so tasty! Both chose lamb for main, and for dessert: almond, apricot tart and cherry with mascarpone! Really enjoyed everything!

Cotto is one of the few best restaurants in Cambridge, with a Michelin-star level chef and service. It has recently moved to the Gonville Hotel, and it makes a very comfortable and upmarket setting, with most tables having a great view of the Parkers Piece. It is hard to get booking, but it is worth the wait, and the expense. We did not get to the 'tasting menu', but the selection was very rich and some dishes quite amazing (all very refined, but the venison and the sweatbread were outstanding). The waiter was very knowledgeable and gave good advice and guidance. Well done, Hans Schweitzer!

An excellent restaurant in the Gonville Hotel. The food quality is first class, better than I have experienced in some Michelin starred establishments. The ambience is modern and very smart and still intimate and cosy. The service on our visit was immaculate with staff very knowledgeable about the food and wine. Service is reasonably formal and attentive without being stuffy or intrusive. Highly recommended for a visit.

I drove up from London and ate here with my husband to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It's situated in an unexpected location on a fairly busy road, opposite a common. It's beautifully done inside and feels very plush. There was a beautiful vintage car parked outside which I think you can book for pick up and drop off. We didn't need to as we were staying locally at the University Arms. The evening was very special, the food was perfect. We even managed a full 3 courses just because it was all so delicious. Service was good. It was a perfect evening for a notable celebration. I would definitely recommend.
