What wonderful old fashioned service, polite, accommodating, wonderful service. The hotel rooms are clean and airy. We had a wedding there for 100 people and could not have asked for better everything. Louise, head receptionist planned everything to precision and the food was great! Highly recommended for any function! Oh, and it's a great golf course too!

16 of us stayed this weekend to play golf, on finding the course it looked fine, driving range, practice area and the club house was separate from the hotel. On meeting my friends and ordering coffee and a bacon roll already we was off to a poor start, machine coffee tasting of powder and stale bread with fatty bacon, oh well. Driving range was fine, putting area all good and 1st tee from the Parks course, most holes had a range of tee boxes but only 1 was in use and had been in use for a while, hardly any grass on the tee box just dirt, the other tee's not being used where is great condition! The greens had just been hollow tined (badly) with tracks along them making putting a bit of luck, (appreciate they have to be done but we should have been told) the fairways were fine for the time of the year, the second 9 we played (they have 3 9's) the Woods, the greens hadn't been hollow tined but were very patchy and again the tee boxes had seen better days, however the fun was about to start! After finishing the round of golf and having a beer, something to eat and working out the scores we was told we had to leave the bar as they had a private party, we was asked to go down stairs to another bar (unfortunately this one didn't have a TV so we wasn't able to watch the football but never mind) however after a few minutes we was asked to leave this bar as they had a wedding and sit in a glass conservatory!!! which was freezing to start with until the heating kicked in! problem was we still had to use the same bar and toilets as the wedding party! which wasn't ideal especially for the wedding party!!!!! We was then asked to leave the bar and go to the hotel, but the bar was shut in the hotel!!! we refused to move unless they opened the hotel bar which they did and gave us some free drinks. The food arrived which was cold as they cooked it in the club house and walked it over to the hotel. Speaking to the member of staff who served us he told us that he had resigned without new employment as the place is nicknamed Fawlty Towers! and has to work the late shift and early shifts as they have no staff. Breakfast in the morning was greasy and fatty bacon, cheap sausage, baked beans and a fried egg. Our tee time for the Sunday wasn't until 12pm even thought we couldn't see anyone playing the Lakes course our first 9 for the day, this 9 was very similar to the woods. The pro shop is empty with very little in it. Finished the round on Sunday and went in to the clubhouse to have a beer and do the scores, upstairs bar had a retirement party and a table laid out for the juniors and nowhere for us to sit, downstairs was laid out for a conference the next day!! We would have preferred to be told about the course maintenance, the wedding party, the retirement party and we would have arranged to come another day. Hotel cleanliness was poor, I'm not expecting 5 starts but I'm not expecting cobwebs either! Top tips, if you are visiting the hotel to play golf or have a wedding ask what other events are on at the same time! The chef and barman was very helpful unlike the Manager Much better courses with staff to look after you are available, AVOID!

A group of us booked 2 rounds of golf dinner bed breakfast at this venue. Hotel excellent, clean, comfortable rooms. Staff helpful, and happy nothing was too much trouble. Food good especially the breakfast. Three 9hole golf courses. They were all in excellent condition. Woods and Lakes a real challenge. Totally recommend you give this venue a try. We will most certainly be back.

Stayed two nights for a wedding reception. Facilities are excellent, breakfast great and staff very good. I would like to highlight a young lady called Drew who worked like a trooper, often alone at the bar and deserves particular credit. Her energy and humour is a credit to the business. Well done and thank you especially.

Stayed at the sandford springs hotel last night for my husbands works do and it was a lovely stay the room was big and spacious and very clean, the Christmas party night was very good too, the 3 course meal was really delicious and very filling. The breakfast was very good too all nice and hot and all freshly cooked. Would definitely recommend and would love to go back one day and stay there again in the future.

Great looking 3 different 9 hole courses! Enjoyed 'The woods' and 'The lakes' club house/bar needs complete a face lift as like having a coffee/beer in a 'side' conference break out room! No atmosphere. Staff v friendly though.

Lovely golf courses which are very challenging. Couldn't fault the service and the ambience. Unfortunately let down by the evening meal , first was told no steak, after being offered, then at the meal several of us chose haddock, chips and peas when I asked "Where are the peas" the waitress replied we haven't got have any! They told us this after it was served .It seems no-one could be bothered to go to the local supermarket to buy a pack of peas or find another alternative. Surely they had something else to offer us but seemingly not, very disappointing. On a positive note "Trevor the Marshall" was helpful, welcoming and very informative .

Had a great time here 3great 9s especially loved the woodland. Hotel rooms nice breakfast at the hotel was good evening meal which was served in what was basically the club house .It was a very limited menu if you stopped more than one day with only 4 options and these were just passable. The club house bar offers breakfast rolls and breakfast until 12.00 after 12 the have a strange menue with tapas and few other things no sandwiches I was told these were available at the half way house after a round of golf the last thing you want to be doing is walking to the half way house I would go back but may be go off site for evening meal

Having seen there lovely Christmas lunch menu they were advertising we thought were book in for 18 people. For £75 each were expected a nice meal but were left very unhappy with the outcome, the starters were ok but when it came to the main course we were disappointed, the veg was nearly raw, roast potatoes tasted old and cold and as for the meat lets just say it was the cheapest cut of turkey they could of got.will definitely not be going back or recommend it to anyone!!!!!

Went to a Christmas night at Sandford Springs. Venue was lovely and staff helpful. Once inside the tables were shoehorned together. Once sat down it was almost impossible to move. The food was incredibly disappointing. Prawn and salmon starter. This was made with the smallest flavourless prawns covered with a postage stamp piece of smoked salmon. The tomatoes on the plate were past their best and soft and wrinkly skin. Main course of slow braised beef was so over cooked dry and tasteless. The only edible part was the mashed potatoes. Dessert was for us baileys cheesecake this was passable. All in all s very disappointing meal for a really high price. Would not recommend their party nights. Venue lovely. Food dreadful. Disco good. Drinks expensive. Will not be returning

Wonderful stay at Sandford Springs. We played 2 rounds and stayed overnight. 3 varied and challenging 9 holes. Great breakfast, dinner and halfway house food. All the staff were so welcoming and accommodating. The weather today was terrible and the pro shop staff helped us by giving us an earlier tee time. Thank you all and looking forward to a return.

What a lovely place to stay and play golf for the weekend. Interesting 3 lots of 9 holes. Great greens and fairways are good. The staff are very nice, polite and nothing was too much trouble. Food was good too. Great dinner and breakfast went down well. Rooms are very spacious with both bath and separate showers. Couldn't fault this place. Not big with loads of rooms and I think that better for it. Would definitely go back and recommend.

Lakes and woods courses were excellent. Park 9 was less interesting. Excellent value on 2 rounds 1 night deal.

We got married here and what an amazing venue! The staff where all great but Robin was out of this world, he is just AMAZING! Nothing was to hard for him, he was more than happy to answer our questions on the build up and had the day running really smoothly. Robin made our day he took all the stress of us and even whilst planning a wedding through Covid he put our mind at ease.

Great 3 nine holes and lovely staff. The 3 nines are very different and prove tough challenge esp the greens. Definitely worth a stay overnight and play all 3 nines.

Rooms were very clean but average. Receptionist was very friendly. However, the staff at the clubhouse were very unfriendly and unwelcoming (particularly the blonde woman at the bar who was borderline rude) and for this reason I would not return to this hotel. I don’t recommend the clubhouse bar at all.

16 of us on a golf break for 2 nights, the hotel was clean, the breakfast choices were lovely, aircon in the room was lush. The ice machine in the lobby was amazing, ice cold drinks on the course! Every course should have one. The evening meals were really good quality and the bar staff were cool, the evening manager was helpful too. Also the local members were friendly and chatted to us for ages. The courses were interesting and well watered on the fringe and green, you could pitch on from 160 and it still held, the bunkers had a nice amount of sand. The Woods which we only played once 😒 was a lovely mature course with interesting holes, especially the S.I. 1, thanks for the tough pin position Mr Greenkeeper 🙄😳. There was a wedding, but we did get the upstairs bar with the TV that night. If anything, maybe a pool table or something for groups of people to do in the evening would be a good addition....simulator? Would come again.

Unfortunately the tee times are restricted, visitors are not able to tee off until after 11:00. After this time a round takes about 5 hours. This fact overshadowed the otherwise excellent experience, lovely staff, great accommodation, good food and interesting golf. However we were visiting for the golf and the timing and pace means we will sadly 😞 not return.

Just stopped to charge our car and have a cup of coffee. Got both, the first better than the second. 27 holes and it looks an interesting course.

My husband and I booked this as we needed to stay somewhere in Reading before travelling elsewhere. Before we arrived I dropped an email asking to book a table for 2, unfortunately I didn't hear anything back (no confirmation) so then I called and left a voicemail asking for confirmation, unfortunately I didn't hear anything back once again so I had to contact them a 3rd time. This time round someone picked up the phone and they confirmed the reservation had been made. It would have been great if they could have done this when I first contacted them. Upon arriving my husband and I were warmly welcomed by a member of staff and thankfully didn't have far to get to our room, as we were tired from our drive. When we got into the room it was incredibly cold so we turned on the thermostat. We also couldn't find a remote control...so had to contact reception. They were able to get us one as there just didn't seem to be one in the room. Dinner was a short walk away to the club house. I was incredibly impressed by the vegan menu, one of the best I've seen. There were 3 different options for each course, which is very rare but appreciated. The food was delicious! I had gnocchi and my husband had a vegan wellington. His one remark was that the gravy was more like refried beans than gravy and was a bit dry, but the meals overall were enjoyed by us both. The room was great, apart from being cold initially, spacious, well kept and with a lovely view. The bed was a great size and just the right level of firmness. I slept incredibly well. In the morning we went for the inclusive breakfast and again I was greatly impressed by the staff. I asked if they had any vegan butter and not only did they have this, but they also offered to make us vegan sausages! Overall, I had a great experience at this hotel, there were a few things they could improve on but nothing major. I'd say the best part of the hotel's offerings is the staff. They went out of their way to make our stay a happy one, very helpful and lovely to talk to.

Fantastic golf course. Played during winter. (November) Greens in good condition. Fairways nice. No drainage issues. Really enjoyed the challenge. Definitely coming back during summer months.

Had a golfing weekend there with some friends, courses were in great condition, hotel staff were attentive and friendly and the guys in the pro shop were very helpful. Highly recommended.

This seems more like a golf course with rooms rather than a hotel to me. All the hospitality aspects (eating & drinking) took place in the clubhouse so didn't get all the benefits you'd normally expect. Staff were great though!

Beautiful course with some challenging holes, and some tricky and quick greens. Very picturesque and hilly, I might have reviewed it a little better if I'd scored well, but with 26 points and not having had my dinner yet, I'm still a little beaten up by it. Definitely looking forward to our second round tomorrow though. 3 loops of 9 holes means we'll be seeing 9 new holes in our round tomorrow. Well worth a visit.
