Got some food for a two day trip with the family and everything was really great. The switchback burrito stuffer was a hit for everyone. LOVE THIS COMPANY!!! They have an amazing selection of veggie/vegan friendly backpacking meals. My favorite are a couple of the cold soak meals and the non oatmeal breakfasts. It’s hard to find a non-oatmeal breakfast without meat in it from other sources and it makes multi day trips more interesting to be able to switch it up . The cold soak meals are also amazing when you want and interesting lunch with no water boiling required. I have been extremely happy with all of the meals I have tried so far. They all have good flavor, texture, and nutrition content. My carnivorous friends have also really liked some of the meals :)

Definitely the best tasting vegan backpacking food available. All of their meals are great, but I highly recommend the Lemongrass Thai Curry and the Lemony Herb Quinoa. I placed a last minute order food for a backpacking trip and they made sure it arrived in time. I eat better on the trail with Outdoor Herbivore than I do at home!

EXPERIENCE: I'm a vegetarian and my husband is a hardcore NOT vegetarian, but Outdoor Herbivore has become our go-to choice for camping and backpacking food. PRODUCTS: Everything we've ordered from them has been delicious, but the chili and the pesto matchsticks are definitely my favorite! There's not a bunch of bulky packaging, which saves me a lot of time from having to repackage my food before a trip. I actually find the portion sizes listed on the packaging to be pretty spot on. Normally my husband and I will split one meal for breakfast, and at dinner, we'll each have our own meal. It's not a ridiculous amount of food, but it's totally satisfying, even for someone who doesn't eat "Barbie portions". (If "hiker hunger" is ever a concern, the different soups are actually kind of perfect because it's easy to make part of a package in my collapsible mug for a side dish instead of just snacking on random extra junk food.) The nutrition facts are also pretty reasonable. I find it to be just enough carbs, protein, and calories to sustain me comfortably without making me feel gross and uncomfortable. CUSTOMER SERVICE: After having placed a few orders with them at this point I've never had any issues with customer service. Actually, they have gone out of their way to make sure I had a good experience with them. My orders also ship within a reasonable amount of time...I'm in the U.S. and normally receive my stuff within about a week.

Absolutely the best backpacking food, period! Even if you're not vegetarian or vegan, you will adore their meals. I've been ordering their food for my last three trips and I keep discovering new favorites...my current one is Lemongrass Thai Curry. All their meals are super healthy with no nasty preservatives or tons of sodium and taste DELICIOUS! Great customer service and quick shipping, too !

Love this company! Ordered several of their products for some section hikes on the AT a few years ago. Generous portions and the food's good enough that I ate the pesto and hummus that I had leftover when I returned. Just received my second order for an upcoming section hike I'll start in a few weeks and am trying hard not to eat it before I leave. Thinking about keeping bulk bags of the hummus, pesto and sunflower salad in stock in my pantry for everyday use. Yay for good food that keeps hikers happy!

Yum! This food was delicious and the service was fantastic. I needed the weekender kit quickly and got it right away. I loved every meal and snack. I even tried to lick the cheesy spread packet because it was so good. It was well portioned and planned out for my 2 night/3 day trip. It's hard to find healthy vegetarian+gluten free tasty dehydrated meals, so I was so pleased with the quality and deliciousness of the food. Personally, I'm more of a savory/low sugar person so I think next time I'll pick and choose the items to match my preferences. But the weekender is great in a pinch. Yes, there will be a next time and and next time and a next time that I order this product.v

In 35+ years of backpacking this is easily the best freeze dried camping food I’ve ever had. My only small complaint is how many dishes contain peanuts (my partner has a deadly allergy). To the owners - it would be cool to include some vegan meats in your recipes! Maybe an egg, cheese, and vegan bacon scramble, or adding some vegan chicken or meatballs to the pasta dishes you already offer.

BEST dried meals for the trail! Vegetarian, Vegan or not, these meals are the best you can find. Plain and simple. Enjoy a Basil Walnut Penne while your friend scarfs down a "2-serving" Mountainhouse with 400 calories and complains about the taste. Enjoy a quinoa salad under a pine tree mid-day instead of the same extruded energy bar you ate for lunch every day on the trail this week. Hands down, these meals have changed the game of dried camping meals.

Not just for vegans and vegetarians. I'm an omnivore and backpack with both these and conventional freeze-dried meat meals. I like the flavors here. A good balance of protein, carbs, and, with a little extra olive oil, fat. They digest easily, sometimes more so than the freeze dried options. They pack into a smaller volume, important when dealing with a tight bear canister. I've been ordering from OH since 2014. And thanks for the incredibly fast shipping: I ordered on Wednesday morning and it was on the way *that same morning*. I got it -- 100 miles away -- on Thursday afternoon. One correction: my order was actually Tuesday night. Still, mighty impressive turnaround.

We are currently thru-hiking the AT. I eat a plant based diet and my wife eats a mostly plant based diet. Outdoor Herbivore has provided us an easy way to get GREAT food delivered along the trail. Orders go out quickly and are waiting for us at outfitters or hostels along the way. I love watching other hikers drooling over my Basil Walnut Penne or Chickpea Sesame Zetti while they eat spam and Ramen noodles or trail mix for dinner. Vegan and vegetarian backpacking meals! Inventive dishes that are well seasoned and good quality. Great customer service. They also offer bulk items so you can cut down on packaging waste and build your own meals. I've been purchasing for years and come back to stock up at the start of every season.
