When you try their food, you’ll feel at home! I absolutely loved the taste of this restaurant. It’s amazingly authentic and upscaled. It made me really happy to visit them. The place is decorated with various Nicaraguan symbols and has a family atmosphere. The food was delicious and has a good value. Big portions, small price. The menu has a whole lot of options and the patio area is just fantastic. It was full. So freaking full on a Sunday’s afternoon. The food took more than 35 minutes since the moment we ordered. Service is really slow and they barely check on you if you need something. Besides the fact that they’re so understaff. This place is great.

Great spot for nicaraguan food in DTLA. The portions are generous for what you pay and the service is quick. The gallo pinto here is great and the steamed cassava (yuca) is perfectly done.

Best Nicaraguense food, I have ever had. Just celebrated my birthday their and everything was perfect. Bacon was not dry, Gallo pinto was great, the quesillo there is my favorite, loved the pitahaya.

I enjoyed my experience at this Nicaraguan restaurant the waiters were very caring and c courteous The food was very good. I only took pictures of the appetizers and forgot to take a photo from the main food... pricey but I was not disappointed. I enjoyed it...♡

I live in OC and I've been going to the same nicaraguan restaurant for couple years however I stumbled upon this restaurant and we decided to come here for my dad's bday. I was amazed! The location is very nice , clean and friendly. The staff were very kind and even a worker on lunch acknowledged us and welcomed us even if he didn't have to. We had a drink my favorite "Cacao" it was sooo good I had to take one to go!! We had the "Fritanga". It was a great mixture not to overwhelming to look at. I will definitely be coming back and do not mind the 50 min drive.

This restaurant is really a nice place (family environment). The food was really, really good and the service was pretty good as well. I love the fact that they have built a nice stage and I loved the live performance! Definitely a place to visit for good Nicaraguan food and a great, live performance!

This is an upscale Nicaraguan Restaurant with a flair of delicious food and welcoming feeling. The food was delicious but the service lacked attention to detail. Valet Parking is very limited and is very busy. Recommend this restaurant for the culinary experience at least once.😋

Best Nicaraguan restaurant in SoCal, hands down! Service is superior, from the Valet parking, to the waiters catering to your every request before you blink an eye! Wow just wow. Very few places have good service to match with the good food. You feel the authenticity in every bite. The portions are plentiful and the flavor is on point. I recommend the 'Fritanga' plate if you want a little bit of everything with extra Gallopinto (Rice & Beans) and a nice cold Pitahaya (Dragon Fruit Juice) to wash it down!

Portobanco's offers a delightful taste of Nicaraguan cuisine with its standout dish, the Fritanga, featuring a diverse array of flavorful selections. From plátano maduro frito to chorizo and carne asada, the combination is a treat for the taste buds. The inclusion of the traditional drink Cebada adds an authentic touch, and the amazing Toña beer further elevates the experience, providing a perfect complement to the diverse flavors. Beyond the food, the atmosphere at Portobanco's is exceptional. The incorporation of traditional Nicaraguan music and diverse paintings from the country enhances the cultural immersion. The welcoming service adds to the overall warmth of the place. Whether you're a fan of Nicaraguan cuisine or looking to explore new flavors, Portobanco's seems to be a fantastic choice, offering not just a meal but a cultural journey with flavorful dishes and traditional beverages.

Food was delicious as always, service was good. Valet Parking was $7 but they charged me $10 because I had a truck. Parking should then say $7-$10 depending on your type of vehicle. Other than that, I definitely recommend this place.

I’ve been wanting to try Nicaraguan food for some time now. Today I made my way to Portobanco’s to order take out, and oh my goodness where should I start. The food was so tasty and was still hot when I got home. The Fritanga is a must-try! I loved the tres leches too. The servers were all nice and welcoming. The atmosphere inside was great. I will definitely come back to dine in next time!

Only reason I didnt leave it a 1 star is because the food was decent. Service was the worst ive had in a while, they took my drink order then never brought it to me and another waitress came to take order 25 mins later. Anytime I had to actually order something or get a refill I could never get ahold of anyone, and it wasnt even packed. I got the Cacao which was delish and Fritanga which was so so. Really pricey as well a side of cream was 4 dollars, side of tostones 5 dollars, the drink itself was 8 dollars. Below average which was a big let down, my wife is Nicaraguan and I was actually really excited to try this spot out.

My mother-in-law and I went to this restaurant after having wonderful full body massages. Yes, we were hungry, but the food tasted very delicious still. They had good service as well as good sized portions. It was during the week and early in the evening, so the place wasn't busy at all. Everything looked clean and well maintained. I even took food for my husband and he was very pleased too. I will gladly be returning.

I came to visit this place on a Tuesday around 2pm. The restaurant was literally 90% empty, I parked my car in the back, and was told that I had to pay for valet; Excuse me??? Was I on a gourmet restaurant in the Hills?? I understand this service might be necessary for the weekends when there is traffic but on a week day in the afternoon? Anyways, I parked my car in the side of the street, cause I wasn't going to pay to park my own car. I order my food, it was tasty, restrooms were clean, and the overall hygiene was good. Just like it should be for any restaurant

I’ve been to quite a few sit down restaurants throughout various trips going up and down the west coast, and throughout the United States. I can say, without a doubt, that this was the nicest sit down experience I have ever had. The word that best describes this restaurant is “Hospitable”, in the most endearing and respectful way. Other mom and pop sit down restaurants need to take notes about the costumer care present here. Another reviewer had mentioned that the restaurant was understaffed, this was NOT the case when we were served. Their food was Amazing. I mean FANTASTIC. Really great flavor and a wide variety of food that is sure to entice the unfamiliar pallete. One awesome treat that we were not expecting was to be treated by a live music performer which really added the cherry on top, ambience wise. I will certainly be returning here soon. Prices are what I consider very reasonable for quantity of food and quality of both the the service and the food. If you have never been to this restaurant, I highly encourage you to try it.

Came with my boyfriend and his mom for my birthday celebration. It was my boyfriend's mom first time trying Nicaraguan food. She liked the food a lot. The only thing that disappointed us was the fact they didn't have café presto (coffee)
