This has been a home away from home for my oldest daughter for one week every summer for the past 10 years. I can not Express how truly wonderful it has been for her. If you are looking to make a charitable donation to a very deserving place this would hit top on the charts along with the MDA.

My son Joshua has attended Camp Courageous for the past three years without any issues. However, on Tuesday, he had a meltdown and the camp called me to come pick him up. I was frustrated, hurt, and angry. The camp told me that they would call me back in 5 minutes after talking to the director, but it took them 45 minutes to call me back. When I arrived at the camp, Joshua was in bed, thinking that everything was okay. He had brushed his teeth and put on his pajamas after watching the fireworks. He was devastated when he learned that he was being kicked out of camp. The camp director told me that Joshua had had issues last year, but he could not explain why I had not been called or why this information was not in Joshua's after-camp summary. I believe that the camp lied to me about Joshua's past experiences at camp in order to justify kicking him out for his disability. Joshua cried the entire way home. I am still waiting for a call from the camp director, but I have not heard back yet. I am disappointed that Camp Courageous would discriminate against my son and I will not be sending him back to this camp again. Update: I did speak with someone at the camp I appreciate them listening it still doesn't make a situation that was handled poorly better. As a mom it's the worse feeling in the world to try to fix a hurt that you didn't cause. He loves Camp Courageous but I still wouldn't feel comfortable ever taking him back. Because I need to know that I can trust in the people I leave my child with and that trust was broken when I was openly lied to about the previous year when camp records do not align with what I was told yesterday.

This is my son's first ever time to camp and also being away from home for that long and that distance. He really seemed to enjoy it and I can't wait for him to go back next year

I've worked for camp courageous for two summers and a couple volunteer trips, and I have to say the staff are dedicated to making sure your campers have a great time. We really do try to do everything we can to make your camper happy and love this place and these experiences. From ziplining to Disney world to pouring chocolate syrup on counselors, they do commit to creating a positive, encouraging, exciting environment for us as staff to grow as well as your camper.

My son has gone there several times for camps. He loves it there and plans to go back next year. The place is pretty much like a resort. They have bowling, outside activities and just added a putt putt golf area. Staff are friendly and caring. The food is homemade and made for specific diets. Great place for persons with disabilities to go and interact.

👍👍 This was our first visit to this not very well known place. Everything about it was great. Neat, wheelchair accessible, and if you love history and antiques, you'll absolutely fall in love with this gem. It has many things for kids to do. We didn't have small children and still spent a few hours the...
