While Roy's has a great reputation when we went there for lunch a couple days ago it was abysmal. We decided to go with only water for drinks and when I went to the bathroom the server repeatedly tried to pressure my friend into ordering a cocktail even though she made it clear she only wanted water. I ordered a cheese burger and she ordered a salad. People who came in and ordered after us in much larger parties received their food way before us. We were waiting for what felt like a century for our food and when my burger finally came it was with not the way I ordered it (plain with extra cheese) so I sent it back. Sure enough when it came out the 2nd time is was burnt to hell, past the point of well done even though I ordered it medium. We decided we just wanted to get out of there since it was such a terrible experience so I ate less than half of it and wanted got the rest to go (which was just thrown out latter) I would 100% recommend any fast food place burger over this one. This was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a restaurant and part of it seemed we were treated poorly because we didn't want to order drinks which is just so unprofessional. I would like my money back and the entire lunch staff needs to take a look at how they treat customers. I dont know of this piss poor service is because we were local or younger patrons but we did not feel welcome. I've worked in the service industry and understand how hard it can be but this was just unacceptable and unprofessional on so many levels it's shocking.

Exceptional service & food. Make a reservation ahead of time... we are lucky we got in. The waitress kept touching my husband's shoulders & arms while she was talking which made us both feel kind of awkward but we laughed about it later. She was super nice but desperately trying to get tipped.

Fish was delicious. Junior served us, he was very kind. Thank you Junior. My wife got roasted veggies. They looked great but taste was alright. They do not do reservations from 1:30-3pm so walk in! But, it’s lunch menu only. Still worth it. Highly recommended.

I’m kind of disappointed with Roy’s. After all this is supposed to fine dining brought to you by a well known chef. The biggest disappointment was the main course. I chose the Mahi with pesto over udon noodles. The fish was over cooked , and rubbery and stringy. It lacked so much seasoning that the dish itself was close to inedible. The broth seemed to just be watered down soy sauce and included very hard to chew and charred bacon bits. Highly disappointed in the $60 main course. Dessert was pineapple upside down cake that was dry and subpar to any store bought mix in addition to the drizzled caramel sauce having a taste of burnt sugar. The highlight of the evening was the appetizer of fried calamari, which was long, delicate, tender strips in a umani of flavors and spice. The appetizer and the main course and dessert seemed to be cooked by different chefs. The service was excellent and friendly, if only the food matched the service. My advice, if you want fine dining and are In Ka’anapali skip Roy’s and go elsewhere.

Disappointing. Especially condidering the prices. Entrees are very expensive - many over $50, beef in the $70’s. For that you would expect a much more refined environment. This is a super expensive “19th hole” golf course restaurant. The carpet needs to cleaned and they need new chairs. The Ahi, Caesar salad and fried chicken ($35) were all pretty good. The veggie side items needed work. The hibachi grilled salmon was wet and warm.

Came here for lunch as a family. No dinner reservations available, so only had lunch time as an option. Which was fine, not that many people! Delicious food, great service. Pricey as expected.

Roy's is a Hawaii institution and a solid choice for a special occassion lunch or dinner at an upscale location. To be sure, you will pay for this, and it will add up quickly, what with a drink, appetizer, entree, dessert, and you're a stone's throw away from $100 per person. The fish is the way to go. The steaks aren't bad, but given the tourist prices at Roy's one can easily find MUCH better on the mainland.

This restaurant is great for anyone likes Japanese inspired cuisine. The ahi tuna is absolutely amazing with seaweed flavored. I would give rating of 5 if not because of the misoyaki butterfish which didn’t have enough salt to balance the sweetness taste. However, it was cooked just right to have the tenderness and great texture! The calamari was so crispy and yet tender inside. Located at the golf course and by Kaanapali highway, very easy access and parking.

The food was amazing! The Ahi was to die for! We got some for appetisers they were so good we had to get the full size for entrees. All the meals were delicious! Service was amazing and I can’t fault a thing!

Outstanding and friendly staff. The food was very good, but I'm not sure it matches the price. I've had better $60 steaks than this $90 one. The menu is abbreviated right now, so there are only a half dozen options. The short rib entre was great, but the blackened ahi was only okay.

What an Awesome experience! We have been to different Roy's locations and had wonderful experiences, but this location way surpassed our expectations. The calamari was like the wagu beef of appetizers. I have NEVER like calamari because it's chewy. This was absolutely the best calamari I have ever eaten, and everyone dining with me agreed. We had 4 different entrées and each one was absolutely amazing. We also tasted the 4 different deserts and agreed that No. 1 was the chocolate lava cake....always favorite! The service was exceptional, our server knew what wine to pair with our entrées before we even asked. I very much look forward to visiting this location again.

Was excited to eat here. However, I left disappointed. My Ribeye Steak had such a great presentation, but the flavor was not there, and it was overcooked. My son had noodles dish that he liked. We did have the lava melting chocolate cake with ice cream, and that was the best part of the meal!

Delicious, Roy's always delivers. Great service, true aloha spirit served here! The blackened ahi is fantastic thanks for a great lunch, and the birthday wishes! 5 stars!

Ordered the butterfish and it was soaked with the ginger Wasabi sauce. Tasted like they poured a cup of sugar in it. I even told the waitress who asked if I wanted it replated. I declined. Ordered the bacon salad which did not have bacon in it until eating half of my salad and I realized it. Waitress brought a container of bacon and asked if we wanted it replated. We declined. People told me to eat at Roy's. After this experience, I will never go there again

Roy's continues to impress with great food. I recommend you go see our server Nicole who was so professional, full of life and most wonderful. She will take great care of you....

Definitely a fine Hawaiian dining experience. The steak was cooked to perfection. Prices are high, but it's a fancy place, so that is to be expected.

My husband and I went here for lunch and we had the Kaanapali mixed grill. Over all the dish is good the ribs and sauce were delicious and the macaroni salad. I was not a fan of the chicken there was no sauce and it was supposed to be teriyaki chicken it was not cooked well slightly over cooked on the outside and chew on the inside and it could have been cooked more. My husband enjoyed his plate and enjoyed it all. I got a drink as well called the Hawaiian Tini this was delicious and had to get another lol. And my husband did the same with his MaiTai delicious 😋 I would recommend this restaurant it was elegant the service was great. It also over looks a beautiful golf course. Perfect after a few rounds of golf.

Our dinner was delicious! I had the Seared Kauai Shrimp over risotto and my husband (allergic to shrimp) requested the same dish only with chicken. The kitchen generously agreed. Our server, Steve, was fantastic! Highly recommend!

Best dinner experience I've had in decades and by far best dinner we had on Maui. Wonderful server. Had 18oz bone in ribeye that would put southern US steakhouses to shame and hands down best calimari that I've ever had and tasted nothing like normal restaurants. Lastly the Lava cakes is best thing to top off an amazing dinner with the Vanilla ice cream to balance it. Will be eating here every trip we make to Maui.
